Steve McQueen was known for his love of fast vehicles, though he left this World War II adventure’s climactic, much-imitated 65-foot motorcycle jump over a barbed-wire fence to his pal, stuntman Bud Ekins. But McQueen was such a good rider that he put on a German uniform and aided in the stunt, doubling for some of the Nazis pursuing his own character. That’s right; McQueen was so badass that he chased himself.
