‘Veronica Mars’ Season 4 Drops Week Early on Hulu

    Hulu

Surprise, Marshmallows! Hulu’s highly-anticipated revival of “Veronica Mars” has debuted a weekly early.

All eight episodes of Season 4 were slated to premiere on Friday, July 26. But today at San Diego Comic-Con, star Kristen Bell revealed that Hulu had decided to gift fans with an early drop.

    Start screaming (and streaming) now.

Bell returns as the snarky, clever titular private investigator gets on the case after a series of bombs are set off in Neptune during spring break. After Veronica is hired by the family of one of the victims, the crime-solving, taser-wielding sleuth is pulled into a mystery that pits the enclave’s wealthy elites against the working class.

“We’re only here because you guys kept watching us,” Bell told the Comic-Con panel’s audience.

She added, “I’ll play Veronica until everyone in Neptune is dead.”

Season 4 also brings back Enrico Colantoni as Keith Mars, Jason Dohring as Logan, Percy Daggs III as Wallace, Francis Capra as Weevil, and Max Greenfield as Leo.

New cast members include J.K. Simmons, Patton Oswalt, and Kirby Howell-Baptiste (Bell’s “Good Place” co-star).

New ‘Veronica Mars’ Season 4 Trailer Is Explosive

Home is where the heart is — but also the danger, if you’re Veronica Mars.

The private investigator is back in Hulu’s new “Veronica Mars” Season 4 trailer. It teases her return to Neptune after a decade, and it’s nothing short of explosive. While the preview starts off with a lot of sunny spring-break fun, it quickly takes a turn. A literal bomb goes off, as we saw in the first teaser, and just like that, Veronica (Kristen Bell) has someone dangerous to track down.

There seems to be a campaign against Neptune, and it involves spring breakers being murdered. The description notes that this is a “mystery that pits the enclave’s wealthy elites … against a working class that relies on the cash influx that comes with being the West Coast’s answer to Daytona Beach.” We’re intrigued, especially since we get to Veronica and several other familiar faces back in action. Watch below.

  • J.K. Simmons Joins ‘Veronica Mars’ Revival

J.K. Simmons Joins ‘Veronica Mars’ Revival

    Starz

Hulu’s upcoming “Veronica Mars” revival already has a pretty stellar cast, featuring both beloved original characters and intriguing (and Kristen Bell-adjacent) newcomers. Now, a huge star has just joined the latter camp.

TVLine reports that J.K. Simmons has signed on for a key role in the eight-episode limited series. The Oscar-winning actor will be playing someone who has a connection to a character not seen since the third season of the show’s original run.

Here’s the lowdown on the actor’s role:

Simmons’ character, Clyde Prickett, is an ex-con who served 10 years for racketeering, and was smart enough to be the first guy in Chino to offer protection to Neptune’s richest real estate developer, Big Dick Casablancas (David Starzyk), on Big Dick’s first day in prison. Now a free man, Clyde works as Big Dick’s fixer. He’s the smarter and more dangerous of the pair, and he has a network of fellow ex-cons he can count on to keep his own hands clean.

We’re guessing that Clyde and Dick’s dirty deeds will have some connection to the larger mystery of the new season, which revolves around the murder of spring break revelers in Neptune. Veronica (Kristen Bell) is hired by one victim’s family to help crack the case, and is thrust into a dispute between the city’s wealthy elite, who would rather the partying come to an end, and the working class population, which depends on the annual cash influx that’s being hampered by the crime spree.

The “Veronica Mars” cast also includes Jason DohringEnrico ColantoniPercy Daggs IIIFrancis CapraMax GreenfieldKirby Howell-Baptiste, and Patton Oswalt. The revival will hit Hulu sometime in 2019.

    Keith Mars is back, Marshmallows.

Hulu’s upcoming revival of beloved crime series “Veronica Mars” had already booked several stars from the original show to reprise their roles. And now, Enrico Colantoni — who played Veronica’s (Kristen Bell) dad, Keith, throughout the series — will be back, too.

From the sounds of it, Mars Investigations is going to need all hands on deck to solve the new mystery at the center of the revival. The eight-episode limited series will focus around the murder of spring break revelers in Neptune, and the conflict that causes between the wealthy ’09-er elites (who want to put an end to the annual debauchery) and the working class (who rely on the influx of cash to sustain their businesses).

In addition to Bell and Colantoni, other returning stars include Jason Dohring (Logan), Percy Daggs III (Wallace), Francis Capra (Weevil) and David Starzyk (Richard Casablancas). Show creator Rob Thomas has teased that the revival will be a “hardcore So-Cal noir” detective series, and pick up five years after the events of the 2014 movie. We can’t wait to catch up with everyone.

“Veronica Mars” makes its triumphant return on Hulu sometime next year.

    LoVe isn’t dead!

Following last week’s announcement that Hulu had ordered a new season of “Veronica Mars,” creator Rob Thomas revealed on Twitter that four more original cast members from the former UPN/CW series would be reprising their roles.

Of course, we already knew star Kristen Bell would be headlining as the title character. But now, Veronica/Logan shippers can breathe a sign of relief, since Jason Dohring will definitely be back as Veronica’s on-again-off-again boyfriend.

Also returning are: Percy Daggs III (Wallace Fennel), Francis Capra (Weevil) and David Starzyk (Richard Casablancas). More casting announcements are forthcoming.

Three of the announced cast members are no surprise, since Dohring, Daggs, and Capra all starred in the 2014 Kickstarter-funded movie. Their characters also appeared in the two follow-up novels co-authored by Thomas, “A Thousand-Dollar Tan Line” and “Mr. Kiss and Tell,” which are considered mostly canon.

However, Starzyk hasn’t been seen as disgraced real estate mogul Richard Casablancas since the third season of the series in 2007. He returned to Neptune after being on the run from law enforcement, in an attempt to mend his relationship with son Dick (Ryan Hansen).

The fourth season (or miniseries) will be set in Neptune five years after the events of the movie. Spring breakers are getting murdered in town, thereby decimating the seaside town’s lifeblood tourist industry. After Mars Investigations is hired by the parents of one of the victims to find their son’s killer, Veronica is drawn into an epic eight-episode mystery that pits the enclave’s wealthy elites, who would rather put an end to the month-long bacchanalia, against a working class that relies on the cash influx that comes with being the West Coast’s answer to Daytona Beach.

The revival will begin filming later this autumn and is expected to stream on Hulu sometime in 2019.

Mars Investigations is once again open for business.

On Thursday, actress Kristen Bell confirmed the news that Marshmallows have been waiting years to hear: “Veronica Mars” is officially set for a revival series, which will air on Hulu sometime in 2019. In a video message posted on her social media accounts, Bell said that all three previous seasons of the series — which aired on The WB and The CW from 2004 to 2007 — would be available to stream on Hulu next summer.

“Which is great,” the actress continued, “because you’ll need to brush up — since we’re making another one!”

Reports of such a revival first swirled last month, with sources saying that the show would be back in a limited-series capacity (a format that Bell herself has been talking about for a while). And don’t worry, fans of NBC’s “The Good Place” — Bell’s “Veronica” duties won’t interfere with her starring role on that sitcom.

Hulu shared its own Marshmall-centric confirmation announcement on Thursday:

The streaming service also revealed that the new season would consist of eight episodes, and revolve around a single plot. Here’s the official logline:

“Spring breakers are getting murdered in Neptune, thereby decimating the seaside town’s lifeblood tourist industry. After Mars Investigations is hired by the parents of one of the victims to find their son’s killer, Veronica is drawn into an epic eight-episode mystery that pits the enclave’s wealthy elites, who would rather put an end to the month-long bacchanalia, against a working class that relies on the cash influx that comes with being the West Coast’s answer to Daytona Beach.”

We seriously can’t wait. No word yet on an official premiere date, but we’re looking forward to spending most of next summer bingeing old seasons (and the 2014 movie, which will also be available on Hulu) and getting ready for more “Mars.”
