  • Royal Wedding: Which Celebs Are Expected to Attend?

Amal Clooney and George ClooneyThe royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is taking place May 19 and it looks to be almost as star-studded as the Met Gala.

It’ll be on just about every TV channel, including CNN, NBC, CBS, and BBC, or you can stream online. And it’ll also be in theaters! (Good luck avoiding it!)

According to Variety, here are the biggest names on the guest list (besides the fellow royals, natch):

    1. Amal and George Clooney
Markle’s hairdresser, Miguel Perez, confirmed he’s doing Amal’s hair for the wedding, which means husband George is probably her plus one.

    2. Priyanka Chopra
The “Quantico” star is a long-time friend of Markle’s.

    3. The cast of “Suits”
Markle’s former costars Gabriel Macht, Gina Torres, Rick Hoffman, Sarah Rafferty, Abigail Spencer and Patrick J. Adams are expected to attend, as well as showrunner Aaron Korsh.

    4. 3 out of 5 Spice Girls
According to Page Six, Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton and Victoria Beckham (and likely also David Beckham) were all invited. (Sorry, Mel B. and Mel C.!) The Beckhams also attended William and Kate’s wedding in 2011.

    5. Janina Gavankar
The “True Blood” star is another good friend of Markle’s.

    6. James Blunt
The Grammy-nominated singer served with Harry in the British Army!

    7. Joss Stone
The British singer and actress is a good friend of Harry’s and previously attended the last Royal Wedding.

    8. Serena Williams
While she hasn’t confirmed her attendance, the tennis superstar has been invited. She and Meghan were on the same flag football team in the 2014 DIRECTV Celebrity Beach Bowl.

    9. Rowan Atkinson
Although he’s not on Variety’s list, the “Mr. Bean” star was at the last royal wedding and is good friends with Prince Charles.

    10. Possibly the couple’s dogs?
    We can only hope!

  • USA Reveals Title of Its ‘Suits’ Spinoff Starring Gina Torres

The second show in the “Suits” franchise officially has a name: “Second City.”

Star Gina Torres made the big announcement Monday, according to Deadline. The actress was at NBCUniversal’s upfront in New York, and she reportedly revealed the title as she introduced footage from the “Suits” Season 7 finale. The episode originally aired April 25.

“Second City” will head to Chicago (hence the title), following lawyer Jessica Pearson as she makes a name and a home for herself there. Of course, she’ll face new challenges, especially as the show takes a more political bent. Creator Aaron Korsch previously indicated as much, telling Deadline that the character is “going to get in a tangle and a tussle with some Chicago politics players.”

“Second City” was introduced as a backdoor pilot, meaning its pilot episode came during the “Suits” Season 7 finale. The episode in question brought back Torres’s character once again, one of multiple guest appearances since the actress — a former “Suits” series regular — exited at the end of Season 6. Now, Torres is back in a starring role, and we’ll get to follow all Jessica’s adventures in the spinoff.

USA Network has not yet announced the premiere date of “Second City.”

  • Meghan Markle’s Final Episode of ‘Suits’ Ended With a Wedding and Sobbing Fans

Well, it’s official: Suits” airing on Wednesday night.

The princess-to-be (she’s engaged to England’s Prince Harry — and retired from acting — in case you haven’t heard) signed off after seven seasons of the USA drama with her character, Rachel Zane, marrying longtime love Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams, who’s also leaving the show). It was a satisfying — if bittersweet — moment for which fans had been waiting what felt like forever, and the fancy wedding was the perfect occasion for both the show’s characters and viewers to celebrate and send off the pair.

Of course, fans couldn’t help getting emotional, too, with many admitting on social media that they teared up while watching the nuptials. Some wondered how the show could possibly continue without Rachel and Mike.

While the duo’s absence will no doubt be felt, USA is determined to soldier on. “Suits” has already shaken up the cast for season eight, including adding TV vet Katherine Heigl to the ensemble.

Adams has yet to announce his next project (he previously said he’s going to take an extended break), while we all know what’s next on Markle’s agenda. Maybe the Queen will give the star her blessing to make a guest appearance on the eventual “Suits” series finale.

  • Katherine Heigl Shares First Look at Her New ‘Suits’ Character

    “Suits” Season 8.

Season 7 is still airing, finishing up April 25 with the big wedding of Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams) and Rachel Zane (Meghan Markle). Adams and Markle are leaving after this season, and “Suits” has done some cast promotions and new hires to try and fill those unfillable shoes.

A few months ago, “Grey’s Anatomy” alum Katherine Heigl was announced to be joining “Suits” as new law partner Samantha Wheeler.

The actress is now hard at work on set, and seems excited to be part of the team:

Heigl’s Samantha Wheeler was been teased as “the firm’s greatest ally or most powerful enemy.”

Here’s how showrunner Aaron Korsh previously described her:

“I cannot wait to have [Heigl] come play with our entire cast and crew. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for Harvey, Louis, Donna and Alex as the mysterious Samantha Wheeler is a direct threat to their status quo. One thing is for sure — Samantha’s wit, charm, loyalty, strength and vulnerability will all be put to the test as she muscles her way into the firm currently known as Pearson Specter Litt.”

Let’s hope Heigl has more luck with this legal drama than she did with “Doubt,” which CBS pulled from its schedule after only two episodes in 2017.

“Suits” Season 7 airs Wednesdays on USA, with Heigl’s Season 8 premiering later this year.

  • ‘Suits’ Finale Wedding Photos Show Meghan Markle as Bride

Meghan Markle is going to have so much practice as a bride before her big day with Prince Harry.

She was already married once before, and she’ll be getting married again on TV in late April during the “Suits” Season 7 finale.

Both Meghan Markle (Rachel) and Patrick J. Adams (Mike) are leaving after this season, and their wedding will play out over the two-hour season finale.

Series creator Aaron Korsh teased the pair’s happy ending to Entertainment Weekly:

“I was pretty happy with that because I know we do a lot of bittersweet things on the show, and it just felt good to give them a really good send-off.”

EW shared photos from the big wedding, which airs April 25 on the USA Network.

Of course, they only showed part of Rachel’s wedding look — we don’t even get to see her face — so you have to watch the episode for the full reveal:

  • ‘Suits’ Shake-ups Continue: Amanda Schull Promoted to Series Regular

After the goodbyes of “Suits” Season 7, we’ll get hellos in Season 8.

The legal drama’s current season is bound to leave a hole in our hearts given that it was renewed without royal-to-be Meghan Markle (Rachel Zane) and her onscreen love, Patrick J. Adams (Mike Ross). Luckily, there’s a plan to make up for their departure: Not only has Katherine Heigl boarded the series, recurring star Amanda Schull is set take on a bigger role. The actress has been promoted to series regular for Season 8, EW reports.

Schull first appeared on the show in Season 2, taking on the role of Katrina Bennett, an associate at the firm back when it was still called Pearson Hardman. The young attorney ended having to resign in the midst of chaos involving Louis Litt (Rick Hoffman), but after Rachel convinced her father, Robert Zane (Wendell Pierce), to hire her, Katrina was able to get her career back on track. Now that Schull been promoted, we’ll get to continue to follow her character’s story.

Along with the “Center Stage” vet, recurring star Dulé Hill (Alex Williams) has become a series regular. These shakeups will significantly impact the series, but we’re hopeful that the story lines will remain as compelling as ever.

“Suits” airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on USA Network.

  • ‘Suits’ Spinoff Starring Gina Torres Officially Headed to USA Network

The possible “Suits” spinoff due to be set up in Season 7’s finale is officially a go.

USA Network announced Thursday that it had greenlighted the Gina Torres-starring project from Universal Cable Productions. The new show will follow Torres’s character, Jessica Pearson, as she takes on “the dirty world of Chicago politics.” The network teased a big adjustment for the high-powered attorney, but also hinted that familiar faces might pop up. Apparently, “old relationships from Pearson Specter Litt could also come in handy” for the lawyer.

Jessica was a central character in the first several seasons of “Suits,” but the character moved to Chicago for love during Season 6. Since then, she has remained involved with the firm, giving Torres plenty of opportunities to reprise the role. “Suits” creator Aaron Korsh described working with her as “an extraordinary pleasure” and said in a statement that he “always hoped [they] would work together again.”

They’re getting that chance now. The two will executive produce the series together, alongside showrunner Daniel Arkin, Doug Liman, David Bartis, and Gene Klein of Hypnotic.

The “Suits” Season 7 finale, complete with its look at the spinoff, airs April 25.

  • Meghan Markle’s ‘Suits’ Dad Shared Their Sweet Farewell Moment

Before joining the royal family, “Suits” one behind — but not without some touching moments.

Markle’s co-star Wendell Pierce, who played her character’s father, Robert Zane, had a unique vantage point as the actress’s relationship with Prince Harry flourished and eventually lead her to leave the show. When her time on “Suits” came to an end, they had to say their goodbyes, and based on his account, it sounds like a really sweet farewell.

“I had a really wonderful moment as we were coming to an end of her time on the show,” Pierce told “Harry” host Harry Connick Jr. on his talk show, according to EW. “It was just she and I in the room and I said, ‘I know your life is going to change but always know, no matter where you are, I will always be your loving fake father.’”

And in case that wasn’t heartwarming enough, Pierce also tweeted warm wishes to the future princess and her prince on Twitter after their engagement was announced, offering Robert Zane’s blessing.

Pierce joined “Suits” in Season 2, meaning he played Markle’s TV dad for five seasons. He doesn’t know yet if that will get him an invitation to the royal wedding, but either way, it sounds like he will be cheering her on.

  • Katherine Heigl Joins ‘Suits’ Season 8 as Series Regular

2017 CMT Music Awards - Red CarpetKatherine Heigl is “Suit”-ing up.

The “Grey’s Anatomy” alum is joining the cast of USA’s legal drama “Suits” in season 8 as a series regular. Her addition follows on the heels of the departure of stars Patrick J. Adams and Meghan Markle.

She’ll fill a void left by Markle, who is retiring from acting ahead of her marriage to Prince Harry. Meanwhile, “Psych” alum Dulé Hill was promoted from a recurring role to step into Adams’ shoes opposite star Gabriel Macht.

Heigl — who most recently appeared in the short-lived CBS drama “Doubt” — will play Samantha Wheeler, a new partner at Pearson Specter Litt who will be “the firm’s greatest ally or most powerful enemy.”

“I cannot wait to have [Heigl] come play with our entire cast and crew,” said showrunner Aaron Korsh. “Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for Harvey, Louis, Donna and Alex as the mysterious Samantha Wheeler is a direct threat to their status quo. One thing is for sure — Samantha’s wit, charm, loyalty, strength and vulnerability will all be put to the test as she muscles her way into the firm currently known as Pearson Specter Litt.”

“Suits” has undergone some seismic shifts in the last couple of years, first with the exit of Gina Torres as firm boss Jessica Pearson. And Adams and Markle will say farewell in the Season 7 finale, which will air in April.

  • ‘Suits’ Renewed for Season 8, Without Meghan Markle and Patrick J. Adams

“Suits” has officially been renewed for an eighth season, but it’s going to continue without its two biggest stars.

USA announced on Tuesday that the legal drama would be back for another round, and also made the news official that Patrick J. Adams would be departing. Rumors first surfaced back in November that the actor and costar Meghan Markle would be leaving the show after the end of the current seventh season; USA had previously confirmed Markle’s departure, since she’ll be busy being royalty, but Adams’s exit wasn’t a sure thing until now.

Though it wasn’t entirely unexpected that “Suits” would get renewed, it’s still a little surprising, considering the upcoming nuptials between Adams and Markle’s characters, Mike and Rachel, would be a fitting series finale. (Not to mention losing both Adams and Markle would certainly leave a gaping hole in the cast.) But the series is forging on, with Dule Hill promoted to series regular for season eight.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Adams also left the door open for a potential return to the show sometime in the future. But for now, the actor said he would be enjoying an extended break before seeing where his career takes him next.

“I’ve loved and cherished my time on this show and the past seven years have been some of the most challenging and transformational years of my entire life,” Adams told THR. “I owe a huge debt to the whole cast, crew, everybody at USA Network and at [producers] Hypnotic and Universal Cable Productions. If it felt like it was the appropriate thing to bring Mike back for a big goodbye then that’s something I could be open to. But hopefully I’ll be too busy at that point to be able to do it, and then I’ll have to figure it out.”

Season seven of “Suits” returns for its final eight episodes on March 28 on USA. The two-hour season finale, featuring the final appearance of Adams and Markle, is set for April 25.
