  • ‘Parks and Recreation’ Cast Would Do a Revival, Says Amy Poehler

If you’ve been missing Pawnee, Indiana, since “Parks and Recreation” ended three years ago, take comfort in knowing that we might get to go back someday.

“The Ellen DeGeneres” show, and they got our hopes up, big time. When host DeGeneres brought up the idea of a “Parks and Rec” revival, Poehler barely let her get the question out before answering in the affirmative, saying, “Anytime.”

“I’ll speak for everybody and say we would all do it,” the comedian said. “I think we’d all do it someday. … It would be amazing.”

For his part, Offerman was a little less effusive, but then again, he doesn’t necessarily seem like the most demonstrative guy. He did say that Poehler is “the boss,” seemingly indicating that he’d follow her lead. He also tossed out the idea of Beyoncé joining as the mayor; that was probably a joke, but why not start with a big wish list and see what can happen?

Watch them discuss a revival below, starting around 2:20.

“The Ellen DeGeneres Show” airs weekdays.

  • Chris Pratt to Receive Generation Award at MTV Movie & TV Awards

The MTV Movie & TV Awards are getting a major dose of star(-lord) power: Chris Pratt is set to receive the Generation Award at the show next month.

MTV announced Pratt’s selection on Thursday, noting in a video message that the versatile actor has been delighting fans on screens both small and big for years.

Pratt got his break starring on WB series “Everwood,” and later appeared as the adorably dim Andy Dwyer on beloved NBC sitcom “Parks and Recreation.” Using that built-in charm, he made the leap into superstardom as the lead in “Guardians of the Galaxy,” and has since headlined the blockbuster “Jurassic World” series. He also just reprised his “Guardians” role in one of the newly-minted biggest movies of all time, “Avengers: Infinity War,” which itself is nominated for several Golden Popcorn awards this year.

It’s safe to say that Pratt is a smart — and timely — choice for this honor, since he’s been keeping pretty busy these days: His next flick, “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom,” is due in theaters just days after the telecast. We’re looking forward to seeing plenty more of the star in the coming weeks.

The 2018 MTV Movie & TV Awards, hosted by Tiffany Haddish, are slated for June 18.

  • Nick Offerman Wants to Play a Curler from USA’s Olympic Gold Medal-Winning Team

While the sport of curling may not seem like the most obvious inspiration for a big screen biopic on the surface, the story behind the members of the United States’ PyeongChang games is certainly an exception. And a beloved former sitcom star is throwing his hat in the ring to play one of the team’s most recognizable faces should they someday get the Hollywood treatment.

None other than “Parks and Recreation” star Nick Offerman has offered himself up to step into the curling shoes of Team USA’s Matt Hamilton, after a fan tweeted about the star’s resemblance to the athlete (pictured above). In a hilarious bit of Twitter banter, said fan, Mitchell Garrett, actually suggested himself to play Hamilton first, noting that he has similar facial hair to the athlete.

Naturally, though, no one can beat an Offerman ‘stache (hello, Ron Swanson), something Garrett acknowledged. He said he would take the role of Hamilton, “assuming @Nick_Offerman passes.” But Offerman wasn’t about to turn down the opportunity to play the Olympic hero.

Hamilton himself then finally chimed in, giving the edge to whoever could handle the ice best. While Garrett revealed that he was already shopping for curling gear, Offerman’s dedication seems to have won out.

Whether a movie about the American curlers will ever actually get made remains to be seen, but if it does, producers already know who they should cast first. We’ll keep our brooms crossed.

  • ‘Parks and Recreation’ Stars Blast NRA for Using a Leslie Knope GIF

Even Ron Swanson thinks this is the woooooooorst.

“Parks and Recreation” co-creator Michael Schur and stars Amy Poehler, Adam Scott, and Nick Offerman were not happy that the National Rifle Association used a GIF from their NBC show to thank an NRA spokesperson.

Here’s the GIF the NRA used, showing Poehler’s character Leslie Knope:

That was sent as thanks to Dana Loesch, who represented the NRA in a CNN town hall with Parkland, Florida residents, a week after the mass shooting that killed 17 people.

For the NRA to use a GIF of left wing idealist Leslie Knope of all people didn’t sit right with show co-creator Schur, who tweeted a message from himself, and from Poehler:

“Hi, please take this down. I would prefer you not use a GIF from a show I worked on to promote your pro-slaughter agenda.

Also, Amy isn’t on twitter, but she texted me a message: “Can you tweet the NRA for me and tell them I said f*ck off?”

Nick Offerman played the very conservative Ron Swanson, a more likely character to have anything to do with the NRA. The actor himself is very different, and he shared his own message:

Adam Scott, who played Leslie’s husband Ben, tweeted his own foul-mouthed response:

“Hey @nra please stay the f*ck away from Leslie Knope.”

The NRA isn’t taking the GIF down. But if you’re a “Parks and Rec” fan, you can treat yo self to the debate raging in the tweet replies.

  • ‘Parks and Rec’ Star Retta Wrote a Book, So Get Ready to Treat Yo Self

6th Annual Women Making History Awards - ArrivalsWhat’s better than massages, mimosas, and fine leather goods? Anything having to do with Parks and Recreation” alum and hilarious Twitter personality. Now, fans can treat themselves to even more, longer musings from the star: Retta has written a book, due out next year.

The actress revealed the exciting news herself — where else? — on social media on Monday, giving “Parks” fans an early Treat Yo Self Tuesday gift.

“Ya girl wrote a muhfuhkin book!” Retta tweeted, sharing a photo of the tome’s cover. “When did I find the time?!”

Indeed, the star has been busy since “Parks” left the air in 2015, lending her voice to “The LEGO Ninjago Movie,” starring in Bravo series “Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce,” and co-headlining the intriguing new drama pilot “Good Girls.” But we’re so glad that she was able to take a breather from her busy schedule — and bustling Twitter feed — to give fans a deeper look into her life.

  • Chris Pratt: ‘Parks and Rec’ FBI Agent Burt Macklin Is Ready to Replace Comey

Crisis averted, everyone. Burt Macklin is here to save the day.

“Parks and Recreation” character’s alter ego as a replacement for FBI Director James Comey, who was just fired by President Trump.

    CALL HIM TODAY.

FBI Special Agent Burt Tyrannosaurus Macklin was one of Andy Dwyer’s various alter egos — including Johnny Karate, who would make a great Secretary of Defense — and Andy broke out Macklin whenever a particular set of law enforcement skills were required.

Pratt’s fans are fully on board with Macklin jumping into the mix, offering more pop culture solutions to our modern woes:

Sigh. We miss “Parks and Recreation” so much. Pratt is currently starring in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” but we would not say no to any number of “Parks and Rec” spinoffs, starring Pratt or really anyone.

  • Here’s Proof That Steve From ‘Stranger Things’ Fathered Jean-Ralphio From ‘Parks & Rec’

Steve Jean RalphioThe resemblance between the characters of Steve from “Stranger Things” and Jean-Ralphio from “Parks and Recreation” was so uncanny that the Internet decided Steve was somehow Jean-Ralphio’s real father (forget Henry Winkler).

Fans concocted a pretty reasonable explanation for it all, and their theories were basically confirmed by the actors themselves, Joe Keery and Ben Schwartz. They got in on the fun by posting some eery photos of the two looking basically like identical twins. And they upped the ante by appearing on “The Late Late Show With James Corden” last night.

In the video, Schwartz and Keery sit down with a reporter and discover some odd coincidences about themselves: they both make their own clothes; they say the same thing at the same time; they use the same gestures; and they even have a secret handshake … they didn’t know they had!

It’s even stranger than the Upside Down!
