Written and directed by Jeff Nichols, the movie is inspired by the photo and interview book by Danny Lyons. It was published in 1968 and is filled with black-and-white photographs and interviews with members of the Chicago Outlaws Motorcycle Club.

The official synopsis for the movie:

“The Bikeriders” is a furious drama following the rise of a fictional 1960s Midwestern motorcycle club through the lives of its members. Inspired by Danny Lyon’s iconic book of photography, “The Bikeriders” immerses you in the look, feel, and sounds of the bare-knuckled, grease-covered subculture of ’60s motorcycle riders. Kathy (Jodie Comer), a strong-willed member of the Vandals who’s married to a wild, reckless bikerider named Benny (Austin Butler), recounts the Vandals’ evolution over the course of a decade, beginning as a local club of outsiders united by good times, rumbling bikes, and respect for their strong, steady leader Johnny (Tom Hardy). Over the years, Kathy tries her best to navigate her husband’s untamed nature and his allegiance to Johnny, with whom she feels she must compete for Benny’s attention. As life in the Vandals gets more dangerous, and the club threatens to become a more sinister gang, Kathy, Benny and Johnny are forced to make choices about their loyalty to the club and to each other.”

According to Variety, even though the film is based on Lyons’ book of the same name, the WGA has classified it as original work, and the studio will campaign for Best Original Screenplay for the awards season.

The SAG-AFTRA Strike Cite As Reason For Date Change

    SAG-AFTRA on strike.

The studio is citing the actors’ strike for the change in the movie’s release schedule, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively. As actors are prohibited from doing any sort of promotional work or publicity during the strike, perhaps the right decision is to wait for the strike to end so the star-studded cast can talk about the movie.

However, with the talks between SAG-AFTRA and AMPTP halting, there’s no telling when this strike will be over.

‘The Bikeriders’ would have also shared an opening weekend with Beyoncé’s concert movie ‘Renaissance’, and given how successful Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras Tour’ movie is at the box office, it gives an additional reason for moving the film off its original release date.

Juno Temple in ‘Ted Lasso,’ now streaming on Apple TV+.

Would you swap the comfy hugs and aphorisms of ‘Ted Lasso’ for the potential terror and loss of life you risk when you appear in a ‘Venom’ movie? Juno Temple doesn’t really have a choice, since the Apple TV+ series is –– at least as far as anyone will say –– ending with its current third season and Temple has to keep her career expanding.

The actor, who plays the upbeat Keeley Jones on ‘Lasso’, is, according to Deadline, now making a deal to appear in ‘Venom 3,’ which will see Tom Hardy back as down-on-his-luck, scruffy journalist Eddie Brock and (thanks to voice work and lots of CGI) the alien symbiote that shares his body

    De72hFALTbfeHu8G2o57k3

What’s the story of ‘Venom’ so far?

Launching in 2018 with the first movie, ‘Venom’ sees Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, an investigative journalist struggling to keep his career afloat and hang on to his crumbling social life.

His world is already falling apart before he’s accidentally infected with the alien symbiote, which takes over his body and causes him to become a violent creature that is only too happy to eat people.

Eddie eventually forges an unlikely partnership with the creature that shares his body, and they end up fighting evil (and occasionally, yes, still eating people) together.

Though the original ‘Venom’, directed by ‘Zombieland’s Ruben Fleischer, scored some awful reviews, it was a big box office hit, earning more than $850 million dollars.

So of course, Sony commissioned a sequel, which saw Marcel and Hardy working together to write the script (they’d taken over from previous writers Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg on the first movie, sharing credit that time).

2021’s ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’ saw actor-turned-director Andy Serkis taking over the director’s chair, with Eddie and Venom facing off against violent, psychopathic serial killer Cletus Kasady (Woody Harrelson), who merges with another symbiote and becomes the terrifying monster known as Carnage.

It was another blend of less-than-enthusiastic reviews but still healthy box office, ending up with a little over $500 million.

    Who is making ‘Venom 3’?

Details are mostly scarce on the new ‘Venom’ outing, especially in regard to the story. Obviously there will be more chaos from Eddie/Venom, and a big new threat for him to face. Expect some of the usual hand (tentacle?) wringing about whether he’s an antihero or a slavering, sarcastic alien beast, and probably some of the comedy for which the franchise has been known so far.

Kelly Marcel, a long-time friend/collaborator of Hardy and the screenwriter of movies such as ‘Saving Mr. Banks’, the first ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ (and a Story By credit on Disney’s ‘Cruella’), worked on the script for the first movie, then wrote the script for the second.

For the third, she’s stepping up to direct, which might seem like a daunting task, but we’ll wait and see how it works out. There’s no release date on the books yet for ‘Venom 3’.

The director’s chair for the ‘Venom’ movies, far from being the usual folding option, must be on some sort of violent swivel. How else to explain the constant change in filmmaker behind the first two, and now third movie in the franchise?

This latest change does at least represent some stability behind the camera though, as Deadline reports that Kelly Marcel, who has been a writer and producer on both previous films, is now on board to direct the third for Sony’s expanding Marvel-based movie universe.

Launching in 2018 with the first movie, ‘Venom’ sees Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, a down-on-his luck investigative journalist struggling to keep his career afloat and hang on to his crumbling social life.

His world is already falling apart before he’s accidentally infected with an alien symbiote which takes over his body and causes him to become a violent creature that is only too happy to eat people.

It was another blend of less-than-enthusiastic reviews but still healthy box office, ending up with a little over $500 million.

And the post-credits scene of ‘Let There Be Carnage’ sees Eddie and Venom being drawn in the MCU, where he identifies Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, though the end of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ sees the pair sent back to their own dimension, leaving behind a tiny fragment of the symbiote to cause chaos for the main Marvel heroes (at least, we figure that’s the plan).

Despite her experience with the ‘Venom’ movies, and her long working partnership with Hardy, with whom she started out in a theatre group, Marcel would seem to be an unlikely choice to direct the next one.

She hasn’t directed a movie before, and the effects-heavy workload of a superhero film can be daunting. Still, Marcel has plenty of experience on films, including writing the likes of ‘Saving Mr. Banks’, the first ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ and snagging a Story By credit on Disney’s ‘Cruella’.

More recently, she has been busy as showrunner on Apple TV+ series ‘The Changeling’, which should be on screens this year.

Hardy teased that the third ‘Venom’ script was in progress via Instagram back in June, and we knew that Sony wanted to push ahead with the franchise. So now Marcel will be carrying even more responsibility.

Sony has yet to confirm a release date for the new movie, but we can’t see it being ready before 2024.

  • ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Poster Hints at Multiple Villains

Spider-Man fans already had a lot of expectations for the upcoming ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home,’ and thanks to the first official poster for the movie, which earlier this week, they now expect to see the Green Goblin return as well!

The new movie will deal with the aftermath of Peter’s secret identity going public at the end of ‘Spider-Man: Far from Home,’ thanks to Mysterio, and having Doctor Strange cast a spell so the world forgets who Spider-Man really is. However, we know from the recent trailer that things will go terribly wrong and tear a rift in the multiverse, allowing villains from the Sam Raimi and Marc Webb movies to also appear.

Conformation of this was given at the beginning of production when it was announced that Jamie Foxx would be reprising his role as Electro from ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2.’ Then, earlier this year, actor Alfred Molina himself confirmed in an interview with Variety that he would also be reprising his role as Doctor Octopus from ‘Spider-Man 2.’ This led to countless rumors about the film, including that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield may also return, playing their respective versions of Peter Parker.

Then, just last week, news hit that Empire Magazine was running an article on the film in their December issue that confirmed Rhys Ifans and Thomas Haden Church returning in ‘No Way Home’ as the Lizard and the Sandman, their characters from ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ and ‘Spider-Man 3,’ respectively. Not to mention, and Spoiler Alert for ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage,’ but Tom Hardy’s title character is also now running around in the MCU. Which leaves the Green Goblin, whose pumpkin bombs could be seen in the trailer, but who’s image has been kept secret until now.

If you zoom into the background of the new poster, you can see a small image that looks to be the Willem Dafoe version of the character from Spider-Man. While the Green Goblin’s voice can be heard in the trailer, it is difficult to know if it is really Dafoe or not. Although the new poster would indicate that this version of Norman Osborne will appear in the movie, there still has been no official confirmation from Sony or Marvel that the Oscar-nominated actor will be reprising his role. Fans will also notice that the new poster teases the other three previously announced returning franchise villains, with Doc Ock’s metal tentacles, yellow lightning to represent Electro, and a sandstorm for the Sandman featuring prominent in the poster.

But like a mirage, many online fans think that they have spotted other potential villains hidden in the poster. If you look at the Green Goblin image, there are two pieces of debris on either side of him, and some fans think that those tiny images are of James Franco and Dane DeHaan’s Green Goblins from ‘Spider-Man 3’ and ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2,’ respectively. When I zoomed in on the poster, it just looked like debris to me, and there is absolutely nothing indicating that Franco or DeHaan will be reprising their previous roles in the upcoming film.

But the online guessing game doesn’t stop there, as some people think that the debris in the background near the edge of Spider-Man’s right hand is the Vulture flying in the background. Some online have even said that the Lizard is hidden in the bottom right hand corner, and that Rhino’s horn can be seen just below Spider-Man’s knee, but I don’t buy that one as it just looks like a metal spike poking out of concrete. But the wildest online theory is that the metallic tentacle we see on the right hand side of the poster is not Alfred Molina’s character, but instead Kathryn Hahn’s Doctor Olivia Octavius from ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,’ which seems completely made-up if you ask me.

The poster was dropped on the film’s official Twitter account, which even encouraged fans to use their “Spidey Senses” to look for “details,” so they clearly want fans guessing. But I think with many fans trying to find out everything they can about the upcoming movie, they are beginning to see things that are just not there, which may be exactly what Disney wants. I can’t remember a time in the past when a simple poster for a movie has caused so much excitement and online debate. I only fear that fans now expect far too much from ‘No Way Home,’ and anything short of all three cinematic Spider-Man fighting off a multiverse version of the Sinister Six will leave hardcore viewers disappointed.

Now, assuming that Venom is not one of the Sinister Six, as he wasn’t in the comics, and also assuming that the Sinister Six is featured in the new movie at all, that still leaves one-member unknown. It likely won’t be Jared Leto’s Morbius, as his solo film is not set to release until January, but it could be Michael Keaton’s Vulture, who is also set to appear in Morbius. And let’s not forget Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio, although he apparently died in ‘Far From Home,’ the character is best known for his illusions, so anything is possible.

Vulture, or possibly Mysterio, would make the most sense to me to actually be the sixth member of the Sinister Six, if they do in fact appear. But if Green Goblin, Doc Ock, Sandman, Lizard, and Electro are in the movie, that would represent one villain from every non-MCU Spider-Man movie, and I would think that Marvel Studios would want at least one of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man villains from the MCU to appear as well.

With Benedict Cumberbatch and Benedict Wong already confirmed to reprise their Doctor Strange roles in ‘No Way Home,’ as well as Oscar winner J.K. Simmons returning as J. Jonah Jameson, the cast is already packed with other MCU characters. So, with the exception of Molina’s Doc Ock, and maybe the Green Goblin, I wouldn’t expect any of the villains from previous Spider-Man movies to have terribly large roles, as they will most likely appear as cameos towards the end of the movie, which is rumored to run well over two and a half hours.

Check out the new poster below, and ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ is set to open in theaters on December 17th.

  • ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’ Is the Best Date Night Movie of the Year

‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’ Is the Best Date Night Movie of the Year

Tom Hardy in 'Venom: Let There Be Carnage'
Tom Hardy in ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’

Early on in ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’ alien symbiote Venom (Tom Hardy) laments to his partner Eddie Brock (also Hardy), “I’m sorry I can’t mend a broken heart. Emotional pain lasts longer,” cementing its commitment to building on the queer themes from 2018’s ‘Venom’.

In the previous film, directed by Ruben Fleischer, investigative journalist Eddie Brock thwarts a deadly experiment by unhinged scientist Carlton Drake (Riz Ahmed), while becoming entangled with the titular symbiote and losing his fiancé Anne (Michelle Williams). In a post-credits sequence, we’re introduced to serial killer Cletus Kasady (Woody Harrelson), whose one request is to tell his story to Brock.

The latest entry in the franchise, in which Hardy not only plays the dual roles of Venom and Brock, but he also produced and has a story by credit, picks up right where we left off. Brock is still a bit of a loser, living in a beat up apartment in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood. Only now he’s forged a deep relationship with his symbiote Venom. They squabble like any couple – and even have a pair of chickens as pets, because you simply cannot separate Sonny and Cher.

Towards the end of the first film, Venom must use Anne’s body to get back to Brock, culminating in the film’s wonderfully pansexual erotic kiss. Building on this complicated relationship, ‘Let There Be Carnage’ finds Anne on the brink of marrying her new boyfriend Dan (Reid Scott). The dynamics at play between all four characters prove to be the beating heart of the film as they all navigate their feelings for one another.

Woody Harrelson as Cletus Kasady in 'Venom: Let There Be Carnage'
Woody Harrelson as Cletus Kasady in ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’

But, this is still a comic book action film! Finally visiting Cletus in prison, Venom uses his super alien intellect to help Eddie make a break in Cletus’ case, sending him directly to death row. In a flashback at the start of the film, we learn that Cletus was a troubled kid, whose only love Frances Barrison aka Shriek (Naomie Harris) was violently removed from him. Everything he’s done since is to try to find her again. Harris and Harrleson have such chemistry in their scenes together, even just as they share passionate glances. They make you believe they are all they have in the world, a latter-day Bonnie and Clyde.

After receiving a cryptic postcard from Cletus, a guilt-ridden Eddie visits him on death row. As Cletus insults Eddie, Venom’s protective nature takes over and in the ensuing fight Cletus bites them. Thus, Carnage is born – a symbiote birthed from violence, who grafts on to a heartbroken serial killer. You know things are going to get messy messy messy.

    Carnage
    Carnage

The action set pieces are a bit muddled and hazy, like most films that rely heavily on CGI. That said, it is fun to watch Carnage wreak havoc everywhere he goes, growing into a larger and larger phalanx of red flesh after each bout of destruction. At first Harrleson’s Cletus effortlessly accepts the chaos, but as it becomes clear that what Carnage wants is at odds with his relationship with Shriek, the actor imbues the killer with impassioned sorrow and rage.

The one action sequence that truly worked also leans into the film’s strongest asset: Hardy’s bonkers take on Venom and Eddie’s tempestuous relationship. After yet another petty quarrel, Venom has had enough and asks Eddie to leave their apartment, throwing his stuff out the window like a clichéd beleaguered wife would a cheating husband’s. It’s on the nose fan service, but it works, much like the previous film’s iconic lobster scene, because of Hardy’s absolute commitment to the bit and the emotional weight with which he performs these two characters.

A later scene in which a now-free Venom finds solace and support at an EDM concert, only to end up wishing Eddie could be there with him got me right in the feels. Venom and Eddie are a perfect match. The film allows us to witness the growing pains of them realizing their love, and that’s just beautiful.

Director Andy Serkis and Tom Hardy on the set of 'Venom: Let There Be Carnage'
Director Andy Serkis and Tom Hardy on the set of ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’

Director Andy Serkis also finds time to flesh out supporting characters from the first film. Mrs. Chen (Peggy Lu), whose bodega Eddie and Venom frequent, has several wonderful scenes, including a particularly tender post-breakup moment with Venom. Anne’s new boyfriend, now fiancé, Dan no longer feels like a stock character. Given time to breathe, their relationship now feels real, their love as pronounced as Eddie and Venom’s. Lastly, Detective Mulligan (an always stellar Stephen Graham, in an exquisitely terrible wig) serves as a bridge between the two storylines.

At its core, ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’ is a film about the power of relationships, of finding strength in deep connections, and the dangers of misalignment. Expertly fusing comedy, romance, action, and violence, Serkis and Hardy have crafted a perfectly thrilling, thoroughly queer comic book extravaganza. Best date night movie of the year, hands down.

One of the reasons that Hardy took the role of Venom was reportedly because his son was a big fan of the character. If you like Marvel movies, you should definitely watch this one. The sequel ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’ will be out on Oct 15th, 2021.

    1. Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)

Tom Hardy in Mad Max: Fury Road
    Warner Bros.

An apocalyptic story set in the furthest reaches of our planet, in a stark desert landscape where humanity is broken, and survival seems to require brutality. Hardy plays a former cop, “Mad” Max Rockatansky (the role made Mel Gibson famous), now a shell of a man who only exists to survive after his family is killed.  Max meets his match in a woman named Furiousa (Charlize Theron), and whose quest to break the chains of slavery my help Max find his soul again.  10018715

Tom Hardy’s career ignited with his first major role in the HBO miniseries Band of Brothers in 2001. That same year he also landed a small role as a soldier in the Ridley Scott’s epic war movie ‘Black Hawk Down‘.  The following years saw Hardy turn in reliable performances in movies such as ‘Layer Cake,’ ‘Marie Antoinette,’ and ‘Rocknrolla.’  Indie film fans took notice of Hardy when he took on the title role in ‘Bronson,’ a performance that won him the Best Actor award at the 2009 British Independent Film Awards.  But it was his breakthrough performance in the movie ‘Inception‘ helped him become a Hollywood movie star. Tom Hardy’s net worth is around $45 million, and upcoming projects include ‘The Things They Carried,’ ‘Mad Max: The Wasteland,’ ‘War Party,’ and ‘Havoc.’

  • George Miller Wants To Do 2 More ‘Mad Max’ Movies and a Furiosa Film

George Miller Wants To Do 2 More ‘Mad Max’ Movies and a Furiosa Film

    Warner Bros.

Chomping at the bit for that “Mad Max: Fury Road” follow-up? George Miller is working on it.

Talking to IndieWire, the Aussie director said he’s got at least three more films planned for the franchise: “There are two stories, both involving Mad Max, and also a Furiosa story.”

What’s holding things up? Some legal troubles with Warner Bros. And once that’s over, “it seems to be pretty clear that it’s going to happen,” Miller says. Since “Fury Road” won the most Oscars of any film made in 2015 and grossed more than $378 worldwide, that seems like a slam dunk.

“Everybody was running around fearful, it seems, through three regimes,” says Miller of the situation at Warner Bros after the AT&T merger. “It was hard to get anyone’s attention, so we went to litigation. The chaos has stabilized and it’s become extremely positive as the dust seems to have settled.”

At last year’s Comic-Con, Tom Hardy said he’s still committed to making more Mad Max movies as well.

Miller’s  romantic epic “Three Thousand Years of Longing,” starring Idris Elba and Tilda Swinton, which also sounds amazing, might be the next project he shoots.

“Of all the stories there’s this one, ‘Three Thousand Years of Longing,’ I’ve wanted to tell. It’s a story in various stages of writing that had to be put aside; it’s been around almost 10 years. We’re starting pre-production before the end of the year and shooting early next year,” he told IndieWire.
But, he added, “I’ve been there too often when you announce movies are going to happen and then they fall away. It happened three times on ‘Fury Road,’ and eventually we got the damn thing made. We’re just coming out of a meeting as we speak, and we’re well into pre-production on this one. I’m cautiously optimistic. It’s going well.”

    Sony

“Venom 2” will be slithering into theaters in the not-too-distant future.

A sequel to Sony’s mega hit super anti-hero movie is in the works, with Kelly Marcel — who co-wrote the original along with Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg — on deck to pen the script.

Tom Hardy will return as lobster-diving journalist Eddie Brock and his alien symbiote Venom, as will Michelle Williams as love interest Anne Weying. A new director will come aboard, as Ruben Fleischer is busy with “Zombieland 2.”

“Venom” was a surprise hit last fall. Despite receiving lukewarm reviews, it premiered to record-breaking $80 million and went on to earn more than $855 million worldwide.

The sequel will likely expand Woody Harrelson’s role. He made a cameo in a mid-credits scene as Cletus Kasady, a serial killer known as Carnage who becomes a major archnemesis for Venom.

Sony hasn’t set a date for the “Venom” sequel, though the studio’s open slot on October 2, 2020 looks very likely.

    Give the guy a chance!

Shane West’s Bane may not be the villain “Gotham” deserves, but he’s the one it needs — or at least has — right now.

“Gotham” is now filming its fifth and final season. Fans will see the results in 2019. But fans have already seen the first looks at Shane West as DC Comics villain Bane. And many are unimpressed — so far.

“Gotham” writer/producer Tze Chun shared the first photo of West’s Bane:

Many fan reactions compared the look to the comics, and to Tom Hardy in “The Dark Knight Rises.” Others just shared visceral knee-jerk reactions:

At least one fan kept it positive:

Entertainment Weekly followed with another full shot of Bane, which was first previewed by Shane West himself:

EW’s commenters shared their own Bane reactions:

    • “He looks like Immortan joe…”

    • “Holy hell. That is bad even by Gotham’s own terrible standards. That’s “Batman and Robin”-level terrible. This is a catastrophe.”

    • “Looks more Terminator than Bane to me. Still think the idea of him breaking Alfred’s back is silly.”

Yeah, apparently Bane will snap Alfred’s (Sean Pertwee) spine.

Shane West’s tweet replies were kinder, as you might hope, including this response that got support from the actor himself:

According to EW, Bane will be introduced as Eduardo Dorrance, a former Army friend of Jim Gordon’s (Ben McKenzie), who is gradually transformed into the supervillain.

Showrunner John Stephens described this Bane as “very, very strong, and very angry … we made him integral to the fact of coming in as a special ops government agent.”

“Gotham” Season 4 ended with “No Man’s Land,” as Gotham was mostly evacuated and overrun by villains. Only a few — including Bruce Wayne — stayed behind to try and keep the peace in the city.

“Gotham” will end its run on Fox in 2019.

  • Box Office: Tom Hardy Is the Real ‘First Man’ as ‘Venom’ Dominates Again

Box Office: Tom Hardy Is the Real ‘First Man’ as ‘Venom’ Dominates Again

The tag-team of Tom Hardy and Lady Gaga did it again. They defeated both Ryan Gosling and Chris Hemsworth in the battle of the October 12-14 box office.

    Sorry, Thor.

Venom” and “A Star Is Born” took first and second this weekend, just like they did last week. And just like last week, their tallies were much higher than the rest of the domestic box office releases.

“Venom” earned $35.7 million in its second weekend. That’s a drop of 55.5 percent from its opening, but still more than enough to stay number one. So far, Sony’s Marvel Universe film has earned $378,102,151 worldwide.

Director/star Bradley Cooper‘s “A Star Is Born” added 22 theaters — still leaving it with about 500 fewer than “Venom” — and picked up $28 million. That’s a drop of 34.7 percent from last week.

    Sony

Ryan Gosling was actually the third man with “First Man,” which earned $16.5 million in its opening weekend. It barely got third place, too, just squeaking by “Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween,” which earned $16,225,000. That family sequel actually had a higher per-screen average than “First Man,” since it opened in about 100 fewer theaters.

“First Man” came in slightly below the $17M-$20M forecasts, Variety noted; this is Gosling’s fifth best opening, behind “Gangster Squad” in 2013, which opened to $17.07 million.

Do you think this will hurt the Oscar chances for “First Man”? Guess we’ll see.

The other wide release opening this week was “Bad Times at the El Royale,” which had — wait for it — a bad time at the box office with a seventh place opening. The star-studded R-rated thriller only picked up $7,225,000. That’s less than “Night School,” which took sixth place even though it actually played in fewer theaters than “El Royale.”

    Fox

“First Man” got a B+ CinemaScore from polled moviegoers; “Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween” got a B; and “Bad Times at the El Royale” got a B-.

In better news, “Beautiful Boy” had its very limited release this weekend — picking up $221,437 from only four theaters, placing it at No. 18 on the box office chart. That may not sound great, but it gave the Steve Carell/Timothée Chalamet film a per-screen average of $55,359. (Contrast that to the $8,400 per-screen average for “Venom” at No. 1).

Here are the top 10 weekend estimates for October 12-14:

    1. “Venom” – $35,700,000
    2. “A Star Is Born” – $28,000,000
    3. “First Man” – $16,500,000
    4. “Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween” – $16,225,000
    5. “Smallfoot” – $9,300,000
    6. “Night School” – $8,035,000
    7. “Bad Times At The El Royale” – $7,225,000
    8. “The House With a Clock in Its Walls” – $3,975,000
    9. “The Hate U Give” – $1,765,000
    10. “A Simple Favor” – $1,380,000 (“The Nun” just missed the cut by $5,000)

    Sony

According to Deadline, this week’s combined box office numbers for “Venom” and “Goosebumps 2” just pushed Sony past $1 billion at the domestic box office. They hit $1 billion earlier in the year than they did in 2017, and the last time they hit $1B before that was in 2014. Disney, Warner Bros., and Universal already hit $1 billion earlier this year — Disney is gliding past $2.75 billion. Show-offs!

    What’s next?

Halloween” reunites Laurie Strode and Michael Myers next Friday, October 19. Will you be watching?
