  • Hilarious ‘Captain America: Civil War’ Extra Shows What Thor & Hulk Were Doing

Now we know: Thor (Chris Hemsworth) doesn’t have a cell phone, and Tony Stark never sent a raven asking him to join the fight with Cap, so that’s why the poor guy wasn’t in “Captain America: Civil War.”

The blockbuster is out on Digital HD this Friday, September 2 — ahead of the DVD, Blu-ray, and On Demand release September 13 — and Marvel released the “Team Thor” bonus feature to show what Thor and Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) were doing while the other Avengers were fighting.

Turns out, Hulk got a call from his buddy Tony Stark and declined to fight — even after being offered a hefty amount of money. But Cap and Iron Man have been blowing off the e-mails Thor sent through his new roommate Darryl. After “Age of Ultron,” Thor went to Australia for some “me time” and to hang out with normal people like Darryl. But when he heard about Steve and Tony’s “relationship problems” he wanted to offer his services. But his services were not required.

Watch the full video to see how Thor reacts to this disappointment:
Love it. Head here to watch the “Civil War” gag reel and get all the details on the Digital and Blu-ray releases.

Thor and Hulk will get their revenge in “Thor: Ragnarok,” which comes out November 3, 2017, and doesn’t star the rest of the Avengers.

  • Thor & Loki Reunite in Slightly Spoilery ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Photos

Mark Ruffalo has already wrapped his “Thor: Ragnarok” scenes as The Hulk, but Chris Hemsworth‘s Thor and Tom Hiddleston‘s Loki are still hard at work on the Marvel film.

The badass on-screen bros were seen on set in Brisbane, Australia, in photos retweeted by director Taika Waititi

That first batch of photos includes Thor with a business card, showing the address 177A Bleecker St. That has a Marvel Cinematic Universe connection as the address of Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum. So will Doctor Strange be in “Thor: Ragnarok,” or was that just an Easter egg tie-in?

Hemsworth also posted his own shots, including one with Hiddleston as they sat in front of a newsstand with somewhat spoilery headlines:

Behind Hemsworth/Thor you can see the front page headlines:

    “Villain Loki Spotted”
    “Has Thor Returned?”
    “Hammer Attack”
    “Time Square Murder”

They are shooting the film in Hemsworth’s native Australia, but those American flags to the right suggest a U.S. setting … even though the New York City location should be Times Square, not Time Square. Maybe Hulk smashed all of the copy editors. Whatever the case, we’re looking forward to seeing this duo in action when the third “Thor” movie hits theaters on November 3rd, 2017.

  • Natalie Portman: ‘As Far as I Know, I’m Done’ With Marvel Movies

Natalie Portman and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) have broken up — or they’re at least “on a break” for several years. Portman played Thor’s love interest Jane Foster in the first two “Thor” movies, but she is not going to be in the third, “Thor: Ragnarok,” and she’s not expecting a call for the next “Avengers” movies.

Instead, she’s gone in a much more serious direction, talking to the Wall Street Journal about her new movie, “A Tale of Love and Darkness,” which she shot in Hebrew with English subtitles. “It obviously makes the film more specific and so less maybe commercially viable,” Portman told the WSJ. “It’s a small budget film, it’s not aspiring to be ‘The Avengers.’”

Since she brought up the Avengers, what’s up with her role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? “As far as I know, I’m done,” she said. “I don’t know if maybe one day they’ll ask for an ‘Avengers 7’ or whatever I have no idea. But as far as I know, I’m done.”

“As far as I know” sounds like she maybe she never got closure with the Marvel brass, they just let her float away and didn’t ask her to come back. Or maybe she was just contracted for two movies, so if they want a third they’d better hit the ATM.

Back in May, Marvel boss Kevin Feige told Empire Film there were “many reasons” why Portman’s Jane wouldn’t be in the third “Thor” movie. “Many of [the reasons] are in the film so you will see that.” Which reasons are not in the film? Either way, her movie “A Tale of Love and Darkness” opens in select theaters August 19, and “Thor: Ragnarok” comes out November 3, 2017.

  • Thor Pranks ‘Ragnarok’ Director Taika Waititi in New Set Photo

As “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” demonstrated, superheroes have been taking themselves a bit too seriously lately. Thankfully, the filmmakers behind the upcoming threequel “Thor: Ragnarok” are here to bring some levity to the universe-saving proceedings.

In a new photo posted on Twitter, “Ragnarok” director Taika Waititi shared a snap of what he claimed was a prank pulled by Thor himself, a.k.a. actor Chris Hemsworth. The pic shows Thor’s legendary hammer sitting atop a closed toilet — and the weapon’s insanely ridiculous power and weight has now prevented the poor director from using said facility.

Obviously, this snap is only a sight gag, since we know the actual prop hammer can’t possibly be as hard-hitting as the mystical one depicted in the movies. But the joke certainly speaks to the lighthearted tone Waititi is already setting for the production, and makes us hopeful that Marvel can return some fun to the superhero genre. With idiosyncratic casting choices like Jeff Goldblum (who’s basically going to be playing a villainous version of himself), it looks like Waititi and co. are well on their way to achieving that goal.

“Thor: Ragnarok” is due in theaters on November 3, 2017.

  • ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Starts Filming, Watch Chris Hemsworth’s Set Tour Video

is back home in Australia for “Thor: Ragnarok,” aka “Thor 3.” Filming officially began this week, with “Ant-Man” director congratulating new “Thor” director :

Chris Hemsworth has been sharing some Instagram photos from Oz, including one with the director and a short video from the set (which has a roller coaster next door!). As he says in the video:

“Here we are, beginning of shooting for ‘Thor 3’ at the studios. I’m all trained, got my shake, got my shoes, and as requested, got my roller coaster. It’s just a little something – one of the perks that comes with being Thor. So, see you later.”

It’s not really his roller coaster, but it would be funny if they did build it just for him. According to Screen Rant, Village Roadshow Studios is next door to Gold Coast-based amusement park Warner Bros. Movie World.

A video posted by Chris Hemsworth (@chrishemsworth) on

Taika Waititi (“What We Do in the Shadows”) knows he’s kind of a left field pick to direct this superhero movie, and he talked to the Gold Coast Bulletin (via Heroic Hollywood) about his collaborative process:

“I’ve been hanging out with Chris and I’ve been working on the script with the writer, designing swords and things and looking at pieces of armour. I am an outside choice for Thor for sure – even I see that – but that’s what’s good about Marvel, what’s great about it. They’re able to do that and it’s paid off for them – getting people who aren’t the natural choice. You see it again and again, so I’m very comfortable in the role. I’m weirdly relaxed.”

“Thor: Ragnarok” co-stars Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Anthony Hopkins, Cate Blanchett, Tessa Thompson, Jeff Goldblum, and Karl Urban. It’s scheduled for release November 3, 2017.

  • Jeff Goldblum Talks ‘Hedonist’ ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Villain Grandmaster

Independence Day: Resurgence - PhotocaWe’re still more than a year away from the release of “Thor: Ragnarok,” the third outing in the God of Thunder’s franchise, but new cast member Jeff Goldblum is excited for fans to see his take on the villainous Grandmaster, dishing about the part in a new interview.

Speaking with Empire, Goldblum explained the inner workings of his character, and discussed what it was like stepping into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, under the guidance of fellow franchise newcomer — and “Ragnarok” director — Taika Waititi.

“He’s a hedonist, a pleasure-seeker, an enjoyer of life and tastes and smells,” Goldblum told Empire of Grandmaster. “I thought, ‘I can do that, I’ll bet!’ I’m working on my part every day. I’m a sponge, researching.”

The actor added that Waititi “is encouraging me to improvise and make it my own,” an exciting prospect for fans of Goldblum’s past work.

According to Empire, Grandmaster is “an ancient Elder of the universe with a ken for time travel, possession of an Infinity Stone and a penchant for game-playing in the comic books.” Sounds like he’ll fit right in with other quirky villains of the MCU (mischievous Loki, anyone?), and will likely make his mark in the upcoming “Avengers: Infinity War” flicks, if that Stone is any indication.

“Thor: Ragnarok” is due in theaters on November 3, 2017.

  • Natalie Portman Won’t Be in ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ for ‘Many Reasons’

Sorry, Jane. Thor is apparently moving on without you. Maybe try Tarzan?

Natalie Portman co-starred in 2011’s “Thor” and the 2013 sequel “Thor: The Dark World,” but Marvel honcho Kevin Feige confirmed that Portman’s Jane Foster will be absent from the third movie, “Thor: Ragnarok,” which is scheduled for release on November 3, 2017.

In a podcast with Empire Film (via Heroic Hollywood), Feige sort of explained why the Oscar-winning star won’t be returning:

“Many reasons. Many of which are in the film so you will see that. There are only a couple of scenes on Earth in this movie; 80 to 90 percent takes place in the cosmos.”

What, Jane isn’t allowed to leave the planet again, but everyone else is?

When “Creed” star Tessa Thompson was announced to join the cast, it was taken as a hint that Jane was getting the boot so Thompson could be Thor’s new love interest. (First Pepper, now Jane. It’s a bad year for OG girlfriends.) But it’s not clear if one of the “many reasons” was that Portman just didn’t want to do the film, or that they couldn’t agree on a contract, etc.

“Thor: Ragnarok” stars , , , Cate Blanchett, and , following Hulk and Thor, who were absent in “Captain America: Civil War.”

  • Star-Lord and Thor Confirmed for ‘Avengers: Infinity War’

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is coming together in a major way when “Avengers: Infinity War” hits theaters in 2018, and now, we know definitively which character will connect with the key Avengers crew for the first time in that flick.

In an interview with ComicBook.com, directors Joe and Anthony Russo — who also helmed the upcoming “Captain America: Civil War” — confirmed that Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord from “Guardians of the Galaxy” will pop up in “Infinity.” As Anthony Russo explained to the site, the “Infinity War” movies (which are split into two parts) are “intended to be a culmination of everything that’s happened before in the MCU,” and that includes the far-flung, space-set adventures of Star-Lord.

“[Joe Russo and I] are both big fans of what James Gunn has done,” Anthony said of the “Guardians” director. “Star-Lord is a fantastic character and Chris Pratt is an awesome performer so you’d be very excited [about his appearance in ‘Infinity’].”

And that’s not all. According to the brothers, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) has also been confirmed to join the “Infinity War” proceedings, and that will directly tie in with what happens in the character’s next solo flick, due out in 2017.

“I’m excited to work with Thor,” Joe Russo told ComicBook.com. “They’re doing some really interesting stuff with ‘Ragnarok’ and where he’s gonna be at the beginning of ‘Infinity War’ is gonna be a very interesting place and I think very profound. I think he’s gonna have a real emotional motivation after that.”

“Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1” is due in theaters on May 4, 2018.

  • Watch Chris Hemsworth Recite Rihanna’s ‘Work’ and Tell a Dirty Thor Joke

"There's Nothing Like Australia" Campaign LaunchIt’s Monday and you may be tired and uninspired, so here’s Chris Hemsworth with an earnest reading of Rihanna’s song “Work” to help you get through your own work work work work work week. When you are on a break, maybe watch another video of Hemsworth, this time telling a slightly naughty Thor joke. (It’s not quite NSFW but more PG-13 than PG.)

While out promoting “The Huntsman: Winter’s War,” Hemsworth stopped by BBC Radio 1, so they put him to work reading “Work,” and offered YouTube a black-and-white video of the event. The actor doesn’t start laughing until the end, which is impressive, and he and the host were both left inspired to go back to work. Which was the point of the song, maybe? Probably not.

Watch Hemsworth get to work work work work work:

Because one can never watch too many clips of Chris Hemsworth being charming, here’s one where he tells Graham Norton that fans like to come up to him and tell him Thor jokes, specifically the same Thor joke:

Love it. In case you can’t watch the video for some reason, here’s the joke: “Thor spends a night with this woman and the next morning he says, ‘I have to tell you who I am.’ ‘I’m Thor.’ She says, ‘You’re Thor? I can hardly walk.” Ba-dum-dum!

He’s here all week, everyone! Actually, he won’t be back as Thor until “Thor: Ragnarok” is released in November 2017.

  • Tom Hiddleston May Be Done With Loki After ‘Thor: Ragnarok’

Nothing is ever set in stone in the Marvel Cinematic Universe until the cameras start rolling, but this latest bit of news may be upsetting for Loki fans: According to Tom Hiddleston, “Thor: Ragnarok” may feature the last onscreen appearance of the villain.

Hiddleston hinted that his days as the meddlesome god were numbered in an interview with The Daily Beast, in which he discussed a bunch of upcoming projects. According to the actor, the third installment in the “Thor” franchise may be its last — and will feature Loki’s final bow, too.

“‘Thor 3’ will be cool because I’ve not done it for four years,” Hiddleston told the site of starting production on the threequel, which begins shooting in June. “I love working with Chris [Hemsworth]. This will be my last time out of the gate.”

That seems like a pretty definitive declaration, though of course, the actor later qualified those remarks. When asked if that meant that he would not pop up in “Avengers: Infinity War,” Hiddleston admitted that even current members of the MCU are not privy to all the intel about upcoming projects.

“I don’t know! Honestly, I don’t know,” he told the Beast. “They haven’t got their ducks in a row yet. They make it up as they go along.”

Here’s hoping the Marvel head honchos can find a way to make up a part for Hiddleston, too.

In the meantime, catch Loki while you can when “Thor: Ragnarok” opens on November 3, 2017.
