The new film is being kept very quiet for now –– Sony has yet to release any plot details on this one.
All we really know at this point beyond the star and writer is the fact that the package was attractive enough for Sony to stump up the money to buy it in a competitive situation.
Where else can we see Sandra Bullock?

Daniel Radcliffe as ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic in The Roku Channel’s ‘Weird: The ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic Story.’
Since his days at Hogwarts as the world’s most famous young wizard, Daniel Radcliffe has spent his movie career playing characters that are weird, wonderful and a world away from Harry Potter. For his latest film, the accent is firmly on the ‘weird’, as he’s portraying “Weird Al” Yankovic in a biopic of the comedy music icon. And the first picture of Radcliffe in character has arrived.
Written and directed by Eric Appel, ‘Weird: The Al Yankovic Story’ purports to hold nothing back, exploring every facet of Yankovic’s life, from his meteoric rise to fame with early hits like ‘Eat It’ and ‘Like a Surgeon’ to his torrid celebrity love affairs and famously depraved lifestyle. Yes, as you can imagine, nothing is quite sensible about this one.
Probably best known for his parodies of songs by Madonna and Michael Jackson, “Weird Al” Yankovic has enjoyed quite the career is the biggest-selling comedy recording artist of all time. A five-time Grammy winner, his 2014 release ‘Mandatory’ Fun was the first comedy album in history to debut at #1 on Billboard’s Top 200. He is one of only three artists to have had their own top 40 hits in each of the last four decades (the other two being, coincidentally, Michael Jackson and Madonna). On August 27, 2018, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce awarded Weird Al with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He has also popped up in a host of movies, shorts, and TV series, either as himself or other characters, and might be best known for indie comedy movie ‘UHF’, which was released in 1989.
“When my last movie ‘UHF’ came out in 1989, I made a solemn vow to my fans that I would release a major motion picture every 33 years, like clockwork. I’m very happy to say we’re on schedule,” says Yankovic in a statement. “And I am absolutely thrilled that Daniel Radcliffe will be portraying me in the film. I have no doubt whatsoever that this is the role future generations will remember him for.”
Daniel Radcliffe as ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic in The Roku Channel’s ‘Weird: The ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic Story’
“Wearing the Hawaiian shirt is a huge responsibility that I don’t take lightly, and I’m honored to finally share with the world the absolutely 100 percent unassailably true story of Weird Al’s depraved and scandalous life,” says Radcliffe, who seems thrilled at the opportunity.
“When Weird Al first sat me down against my will and told me his life story, I didn’t believe any of it, but I knew that we had to make a movie about it,” Appel adds.
Radcliffe is definitely not the first person we’d have imagined playing Yankovic, but he has certainly thrown himself into every out-there movie role he’s picked since he hung up his wand. He’s played such unusual characters as a farting corpse (in ‘Swiss Army Man’), a man with pistols bolted to his hands (‘Guns Akimbo’) and Igor (‘Victor Frankenstein’). He’ll next show up as a billionaire obsessed with a hidden treasure in ‘The Lost City’, which arrives in theaters on March 25. The Yankovic film doesn’t have a confirmed release date yet, but it’ll debut on the Roku Channel.
The Super Bowl took place this Sunday, and whether you were rooting for the Rams or backing the Bengals, we hope you got the outcome you were hoping for. Go sports!
But what if you were more concerned with the trailers, TV spots and ads that traditionally look to exploit the massive viewing audience that the big event attracts? We’ve got you covered.
In one handy, convenient place, we’ve rounded up all the exciting footage that wasn’t on the field. Even if, as has been the tradition of late, several of these trailers and spots made their way online long before kick-off.
TV Trailers
MOON KNIGHT
v73KObXZ
While the superstar of the Marvel trailers from this year’s game was a certain magician’s multiverse madness, the MCU’s Disney+ TV arm still had something to show, as Oscar Isaac and ‘Moon Knight’ brought new footage from the show.
Isaac plays Steven Grant, an unassuming fellow working in the British museum, who discovers the reason he’s been experiencing such vivid dreams of late – he’s just one identity filling his head, which is primarily owned by that of Marc Spector, who becomes the Egyptian mythology-powered vigilante Moon Knight, whose brand of justice tends to be more violent than some of the other Marvel heroes.
It’ll be fascinating to see how Moon Knight is merged with the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe, though at this point, Team Marvel has proved a dab hand at juggling a wide range of different characters.
LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RINGS OF POWER
AG2YHFQB
Amazon has spent so much money on the rights to additional stories from JRR Tolkien’s canon (and on making the TV show) that we began to wonder whether the trailer would just be a 10-second shot of a ring.
But no, this is an all-action look at the series, which has cost nearly half a billion dollars to acquire and make so far. There’s no doubting the ambition on display, as the clock turns back to a time before Frodo and co. (and even Bilbo) from Peter Jackson’s movies when Middle-earth was under threat from dark forces and different races had to come together to save their various homelands. Yes, it happens a lot in Middle-earth.
Jordan Peele, who has established himself as a master of horror (and an Oscar winner) with ‘Get Out’ and ‘Us’ is back on the terror beat with his latest. In this case, Daniel Kaluuya (who starred in ‘Get Out’), Keke Palmer and Steven Yeun lead the cast for the movie, which is still wrapped in some layers of mystery, even after this initial trailer.
We do at least know that Palmer plays a woman who works tangentially for the movie industry, wrangling horses in a business that has been passed down through her family. All seems to be going well until the power at a ranch mysteriously goes out and something horrible appears in the clouds.
What’s exactly going on? Is it aliens? Ghosts? Alien ghosts? We’ll find out when the movie arrives July 22nd.
Released a couple of days before the game, the new spot for the ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ sequel focuses a lot on Knuckles, the new threat for our hero, who boasts the vocal talents of Idris Elba. It’s a blend of footage we’ve seen in the first trailer and some new action, plus the likes of human co-stars Jim Carrey and James Marsden.
A slightly disappointing spot for Michael Bay’s new film, mostly because there’s little new following the main trailer, which was a while ago. Still, get ready for glimpses of Jake Gyllenhaal and Yahya Abdul Mateen II as brothers who rob a bank but then need to hijack the titular vehicle, sparking a chase across LA.
Who is ready for Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum to go exploring jungle climes and far-flung temples? Plenty of us, it appears. The action-comedy, which also features Daniel Radcliffe and Brad Pitt, looks like it could be a lot of fun.

While a shorter version played during the game’s ad space, the first full trailer for the latest ‘Jurassic World’ entry arrived days before kick-off, bringing together two generations of ‘Jurassic’ casts and unleashing lots of the requisite dino action. Let’s just say it looks suitably massive.

Like Universal and others, Netflix released its Super Bowl effort in advance, putting out a long clip essentially promoting the streaming service’s 2022 output which is, it must be said, laden with star names and anticipated movies.
‘Knives Out 2’ is among the biggest, but the trailer also offered another look at Ryan Reynolds’ time-travelling action-adventure ‘The Adam Project’.
Mike Myers brings back his scheming supervillain Dr. Evil, who realizes he must save the world from itself to control it. Cue electric cars! The likes of Seth Green, Rob Lowe and Mindy Sterling reprise their roles from the ‘Austin Powers’ movies for a spot that mostly makes us wish A) Verne Troyer was still around to be Mini-Me and B) that they’d make another movie.
A double dose of Jim Carrey this year, here returning to a role he hasn’t played since Ben Stiller’s 1996 crackpot comedy. That might have flopped, but it’s still fun to see Carrey doing his thing as the crazed cable tech, here confused by how the world has moved on to wireless internet, in this case from Verizon. He’s still got it, that Carrey.
‘He-Man and the Masters of the Universe’ 1980’s Cartoon.
Like perma-grinning villain Skeletor’s evil schemes, the many attempts to make a new, live-action ‘Masters of the Universe’ movie have failed. Netflix thinks it can change that, taking on the rights to the characters and hiring actor Kyle Allen to play main hero He-Man.
This latest development comes as the streaming service grabbed the rights to make the film from Sony, which had been planning its own movie with Noah Centineo lined up as He-Man.
A quick primer for anyone who didn’t grow up with Mattel’s fantasy toy line from the 1980s: ‘Masters of the Universe’ is the story of Prince Adam and his heroic friends, who must defend the faraway land of Eternia from the machinations of Skeletor and a group of fellow evildoers. At stake is Castle Grayskull and the Power Sword, which transforms Adam into He-Man, helping him fight off the various threats.
A cartoon series called ‘He-Man and the Masters of the Universe’ was launched in 1985 to help sell the action figures, creating a pop culture phenomenon. It was infamously turned into a movie in 1987 starring Dolph Lundgren as He-Man and Frank Langella as Skeletor. That flopped at the box office, which scuttled a planned sequel.

Sony was just the latest studio taking a crack at making a live-action adaptation of the toy series. Directors such as ‘Face/Off’s John Woo, ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ Jon M. Chu and ‘Truth Or Dare’s Jeff Wadlow have been attached at one time or another, but the movie has always fallen apart.
Sony is staying in the mix in one way, though – it’s holding on to the rights to distribute the movie in China, where Netflix doesn’t have a presence.
Netflix is all in on its deal with Mattel for He-Man and co, having already produced ‘Masters of the Universe: Revelation (developed by ‘Clerks’ filmmaker Kevin Smith as an update to the original concept), featuring Mark Hamill, Lena Headey, and Sarah Michelle Gellar among its voices. There’s also ‘He-Man and the Masters of the Universe’, which is a more traditional take on the tale, albeit one using 3D animation.
2021 has come and gone and with every new year comes a whole new slate of movies to look forward to. This year will be no different with five films based on characters from Marvel Comics, four movies based on characters from DC Comics, long awaited sequels, animated spinoffs, and a video game adaption, not to mention new installments from popular franchises like Mission: Impossible, Jurassic World, and Fantastic Beasts.
Without any further ado, let’s take a look at the most anticipated movies of 2022!

Columbia Pictures
Directed by Daniel Espinosa (‘Safe House’), and based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, it’s still unknown which corner of the Marvel multiverse ‘Morbius’ will take place in. Regardless, the movie stars Oscar-winner Jared Leto as Dr. Michael Morbius, a scientist suffering from a rare blood disease who attempts to develop a dangerous cure that afflicts him with vampirism. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever – Opens November 11, 2022
Once again directed by Ryan Coogler, ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ is the highly awaited sequel to 2018’s Oscar nominated ‘Black Panther.’ Unfortunately, Chadwick Boseman who played the title role passed away unexpectedly in August of 2020, leaving the future of the popular MCU character up in the air. While Boseman’s character of T’Challa will not be recast, it is possible that the MCU will get a new Black Panther, and there are several characters that could take on the mantle. The obvious choice is Shuri, played by Letitia Wright, as she becomes the new Black Panther in the comics. But other possibilities include Lupita Nyong’o’s Nakia, Danai Gurira’s Okoye, or even Winston Duke’s M’Baku, all of which will be returning for the sequel. Another possibility is that Michael B. Jordan’s Killmonger could return from his assumed death to claim the crown, but the actor’s participation in the project has yet to be announced. We do know that actress Dominique Thorne has been cast as Riri Williams, a young genius inventor who becomes Ironheart, the successor to Tony Stark’s Iron Man.
