Gemma Chan may soon pull double duty in the Marvel universe.

The “Crazy Rich Asians” star is in talks to join the cast of “The Eternals,” according to Variety.

Chan played Minn-Erva in “Captain Marvel,” but she would reportedly take on a completely new role in “The Eternals.” It would be an extremely rare instance of one actor playing two different characters in the same cinematic universe.

The star-studded cast already includes Angelina Jolie (Thena), Richard Madden (Ikaris), Kumail Nanjiani (Kingo), Salma Hayek (Ajak) and Brian Tyree Henry (Phastos).

“The Eternals,” based on Jack Kirby’s comic book, follows superpowered, near-immortal beings. Thanos, the villain from “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Endgame,” is an Eternal.

Cosmic beings known as the Celestials genetically experimented on humans to create super-powered individuals known as the Eternals, along with the villainous Deviants. The two groups battled each other throughout history. The Eternals also warred with Greek, Roman and Norse deities before leaving Earth to explore the stars.

The movie will be directed by Chloe Zhao (“The Rider”), from a script by Matthew and Ryan Firpo.

“The Eternals” is slated for release November 6, 2020.

Another A-list actor may be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Salma Hayek. The studio wants the Academy Award nominee to join the upcoming superhero flick “The Eternals,” a source told TheWrap. She is now in early talks for a role, according to THR.

Marvel looks to once again be assembling quite the cast. Richard Madden and Kumail Nanjiani are set to star in the film. Meanwhile, Angelina Jolie was reported to be in talks for to join in late March. Those talks are ongoing, per THR on Wednesday.

Marvel has not commented on the reports, and the character Hayek would play has not been revealed. The film will reportedly center on Sersi, a superhero created by Jack Kirby as part of his Eternals comic book series. The Eternals are a species that was created to defend Earth.

Hayek earned her Oscar nomination for 2002’s “Frida.” More recently, she has starred in “The Hitman’s Bodyguard,” “The Hummingbird Project,” and “How to Be a Latin Lover.” She’s also set to star in “The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard” and “Limited Partners,” among other projects.

“The Eternals” is expected to start shooting later this year. The film is being written by Matthew and Ryan Firpo, and Chloe Zhao will direct. Marvel’s Kevin Feige is on board as a producer.

As the Marvel Cinematic Universe moves past the “Endgame” and into its next phase, it’s already looking for its new “Avengers”-size hit. Enter “The Eternals,” which has already accrued quite an interesting crop of talent, including reported roles for Angelina Jolie and Kumail Nanjiani.

Now, TheWrap is reporting that another familiar face is circling the project, with Richard Madden — the former Robb Stark on “Game of Thrones” and current Golden Globe-winning star of BBC/Netflix series “Bodyguard” — in talks to take a part in the flick. According to the trade, there are no details yet about who Madden would be playing, though Jolie is believed to be playing the lead, Sersi (a name that should be familiar to the onetime “Thrones” star — though TheWrap cautions that no, they’re definitely not the same character).

“Eternals” centers around the titular ancient race of human beings created by a cosmic entity known as the Celestials, who possess superhuman abilities and can harness cosmic energy, among other impressive traits. The comic series was created by Marvel legend Jack Kirby in the ’70s, and reminds us of a mashup between the “X-Men” and “Guardians of the Galaxy.”

Marvel has recruited “The Rider” director Chloe Zhao to helm “The Eternals,” from a script by Matthew and Ryan Firpo (“Ruin”). Stay tuned to see who else joins the fold.

“The Big Sick” star Kumail Nanjiani is standing up for a role in the Marvel Universe.

The comedian and Oscar-nominated screenwriter is in talks to star in “The Eternals” opposite Angelina Jolie, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The superhero team-up movie will be directed by Chloe Zhao (“The Rider”).

“The Eternals,” based on Jack Kirby’s comic book, follows superpowered, near-immortal beings. Thanos, the villain from “Avengers: Infinity War” and the upcoming “Endgame,” is an Eternal. The Eternals were tasked with protecting Earth from the evil group called Deviants.

THR says Jolie will play Sersi, an Eternal who enjoys moving amongst humans. It’s unknown what character Nanjiani would play.

Nanjiani has been busy since earning an Oscar nomination for co-writing “The Big Sick” with wife Emily Gordon. He can currently be seen in the first episode of Jordan Peele’s “Twilight Zone” reboot on CBS All-Access. He’ll begin production on Season 6 of HBO’s “Silicon Valley” this summer.

On the movies side, he will appear in June’s “Men in Black: International” and July’s action comedy “Stuber,”

Fresh off her award-winning Sundance hit “The Rider,” Chloé Zhao will step up to the big leagues with Marvel’s “The Eternals.”

That makes her the first woman of color to direct a Marvel film and only the second woman after Cate Shortland was hired in July to direct the long-in-the-works “Black Widow” movie.

Comic legend Jack Kirby created “The Eternals” in the ’70s:  It’s about cosmic beings called Celestials who create a race of super-powered humans, including the evil Deviants.

According to The Wrap, the movie will likely focus on the Eternal known as Sersi, aka Circe, the mythic enchantress who turned Odysseus’s sailors into pigs in “The Odyssey.” In modern times, she’s a NYC socialite who has served as a member of the Avengers.

Zhao’s “The Rider” has received several international awards and was nominated for Best Director, Editing, Cinematography and Best Feature at this year’s Independent Spirit Awards.

At the Istanbul Film Festival, it won a top prize “for its touching portrayal of the fragility of masculinity within an aesthetic style which combines realistic storytelling with subtle visual poetry.”

Director Werner Herzog presented it with the Golden Puffin award at the Reykjavik International Film Festival, praising its “uncommon sensitivity, exceptional camerawork, heartbreaking performances from non-actors and its remarkable ability to re-examine the concept of American masculinity.”

According to Variety, Marvel execs were so impressed after their meeting with Zhao, they rushed to book her before she could be hired elsewhere.
