NBC Pulls ‘Blindspot’ From May Sweeps

    NBC

This doesn’t look good. “Blindspot” has been suffering from low ratings and now NBC has pulled it from May sweeps.

The show, which stars Jaimie Alexander and Sullivan Stapleton, will be off the air for four weeks, beginning tonight, April 26.

It will return to finish out its fourth season on May 24 and 31. That’s after NBC announces its 2019-20 schedule and it’s looking likely “Blindspot” won’t be on it.

Despite low ratings, one argument for renewal is that — at 89 episodes — it’s close to the traditional 100 episodes required for syndication. (Although shows with 88 episodes have been known to qualify for syndication.)

During sweeps, “The Blacklist” will air in “Blindspot”‘s place. And  “Dateline”will expand to two hours from 9-11 p.m. beginning May 3.

“Blindspot” will return at 8 p.m. May 24 and have a two-hour finale on May 31.

  • ‘The Blacklist’ Star Apologizes for Helping to Glorify Assault Rifles

“Liz Keen will never carry an assault rifle again.”

“The Blacklist.” She grew up in The Villages in Florida, and — like most of us — was shocked and horrified by the February 14 school shooting in Parkland, FL. The killer used an AR-15 style semi-automatic rifle to kill 17 people, injuring 14 more.

In response to still another mass shooting, the U.S. gun control debate was revived. Boone jumped into the mix to reveal that her character would no longer be using an assault rifle on the show:

She then responded to a fan’s question:

Boone also retweeted another fan’s support:

“The Blacklist” Season 5 continues Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 8 p.m. on NBC.

  • Which TV Drama Plans to Kill Off a Popular Original Character in New Season Premiere?

Put on your spoiler thinking caps, TV fans, ’cause you have a mystery to solve.

Every so often, TVLine posts a “blind item” spoiler, teasing something that will be revealed in a few months — or whenever. It’s always vague, but they also share a few hints. This latest one is about an “hour-long drama series” on one of the “Big 5” networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, and The CW) looking “to kill one of its most popular characters (an original series regular), while tacking on a time-tripping twist straight out of ‘How to Get Away With Murder.’”

    Here’s more:

“According to sources, if the storyline is approved by The Powers That Be at the network, the character in question would be murdered in the show’s forthcoming season premiere, at which point the action would jump back two months. Subsequent episodes would continue to chronicle the eight weeks leading up to [REDACTED]’s death all while dropping clues about the party — or parties? — potentially responsible for the shocking crime.”

The suggestion that the storyline has not already been approved means 1) it *may* not happen at all, but also 2) it’s probably not for a show that already started filming for the fall season.

TVLine shared more hints by narrowing down the search to one of nine shows in its photo gallery:

    • “The Exorcist”
    • “The Blacklist”
    • “Supergirl”
    • “Blindspot”
    • “Scorpion”
    • “Designated Survivor”
    • “NCIS”
    • “Scandal”
    • “Elementary”

Fan guesses are all over the map, but some think it could be “Scandal” because the final season is coming up, and they could do a big twist like killing Fitz (or even Olivia?) and showing how it happened. Other fans think it might be “Supergirl” or “The Blacklist”or “NCIS” or “Elementary.” Or any of them! Time will tell. And time may also provide more hints, so keep checking TVLine in case they update to scratch guesses off the list.

  • Ryan Eggold Declassifies the Secrets of ‘The Blacklist: Redemption’

Entertainment Weekly & People Upfronts Party 2016 - ArrivalsThe blacklist is about to get a little longer.

Fans of “The Blacklist” got a glimpse at new corners of the covert thriller’s expanded world last season, when Ryan Eggold‘s Tom Keen (or whatever his name actually might be) encountered private mercenary contractor Scottie Hargrave (Famke Janssen), a formidable, shadowy force in her own right and the woman who may or may not be Tom’s birth mother.

The episode “Alexander Kirk” served as a successful backdoor pilot for the hotly anticipated spinoff series “The Blacklist: Redemption,” which launches on NBC on a still-top-secret date early next year and will unite Tom and Scottie once again as he joins forces with her Grey Matters organization and also delves into the mysteries surrounding his own murky past.

And while much of the direction new series remains as enigmatic as Tom’s origins, Eggold hosted a debriefing session with Moviefone to unveil many of the behind the scenes secrets of the spinoff.

Moviefone: It must be a fun experience for you to see the world of “The Blacklist” get bigger, and to be right at the heart of that expansion. What got you excited about the prospect of doing this?

Ryan Eggold: I will tell you truthfully what excites me about the new show is that we could do a show about espionage, and classically so. I’ve got high hopes for it, and I know [“Blacklist” creator] Mission Impossible” TV show.

We want to do a show that’s like that. We want to do Jason Bourne and those things, but more so than the action, and the fun and all that stuff, which I really want to have because that stuff makes a great show, that classic spy stuff. If we could get into that, then it’s not like we’d be getting into brand-new territory, but we’d getting into a genre that I think hasn’t been really explored so much recently. Or, like the Jack Ryan novels, or just like world. That’d be really fun.

For you, to do that show, and kind of have that distinct identity, what’s the link that still keeps it “The Blacklist”? What’s that element that keeps it firmly in the franchise?

Well, a couple of things. First, the question of Scottie and Tom, whether or not she’s his mother — it comes out at the beginning that she is, and we think that’s the truth, and I think that may end up sticking to be the truth. Of course, it’s “The Blacklist” so it may not be!

But the thing that makes that — “The Blacklist” work, and the thing that this will carry over that I really love is the thematic juxtaposition of discovering one’s humanity and empathy, and connecting with other human beings and wanting relationships, and wanting love and these fundamental human principles, juxtaposed with violence and deception, and corruption and conspiracy, and power and all of that. Those two things meeting together will be, I think, what is the element that crosses over, which is what I like about the show.

For you, did you have to adjust the way you play this guy? Were there any tweaks that you had to make to move Tom into this new context? Or, are you pretty much picking him right up out of the mothership and dropping him into the new one?

I would love to let him evolve. My only goal when we shot this sort of back door pilot was to maybe be a little more specific in my choices and maybe try to flesh out this character a little more than I have, and maybe ask myself what’s left to know about this guy. And what have we not done, and maybe get more specific on who he is.

And then, with the new show, discovering his origins, and why he was orphaned, and if this woman cared or didn’t care, or was protecting him, or wanted him dead, or truly doesn’t know that he’s her son, and she was taken away from him. All those answers to those questions will be so informative — and for me, what I love about the character is just a guy who was abandoned as a kid, who was trained to be really good at one thing, which is manipulation and violence and being a spy, and is now trying to figure out what it is to be a person, as opposed to a tool or a device, or a mechanism, you know? And that’s what I want to get into on the new show.

Do you get to keep any kind of toe in the mothership show? Do they pop you in and out?

I think so, yes. I think there will be a good deal of crossover, certainly to start. And then, ideally, the show will develop its own legs and have its own identity. I mean, this sounds probably somewhat cliché, but we want to do that thing where we can introduce the show in a way that if you’re not a fan of “The Blacklist,” you can watch it, and if you are a fan of “The Blacklist,” it will have more sort of tidbits for you that you’ll recognize and things like that.

How is it building that rapport with your TV maybe-mom, Famke Janssen?

Yeah, I’ve got to tell you, man, it’s awesome. Famke is terrific. She’s very talented. She’s very sexy. She’s very good at this character. She’s got smart ideas and, most importantly, she is very fun to work with, and she is a great collaborator, and she is easy-going in a way, and she very simply wants to make a good show.

And so it’s just a lot of fun, truly, to work with her, because she wants to play with good ideas, and she’s excited about the prospect and about the possibility of making an interesting show. So she’s there for the right reasons, and she’s great.

Is the show sort of built for her to bring her own version of electricity in a way that “The Blacklist” was for James Spader? Does she get to have or be that kind of electric center of every thing that’s happening?

I think, very much so, they want her to carve out that space of being the sort of master manipulator and being enigmatic, and being contradictory and all those things that make Red interesting, and that they don’t want to do a carbon-copy of Red, but they want it to be Famke’s version of a sort of power player like that, or whatever you want to call it, and in this case someone behind the scenes sort of pulling the strings, making empires rise and fall, manipulating governments, things like that, and how sort of that Blackwater-type espionage comes into play.

And I think on “The Blacklist,” the dynamic between the two of them will be focused like it is between Red and Liz. But, yeah, man. They want to write a great character for her, and she wants to help create it, and she’s going to kill it!

I imagine going to work on “The Blacklist,” surrounded by great actors, must have been a little bit of a free Master Class, being paid to watch Spader play Red. What are the lessons that you learned that you’d like to apply and translate into your own performances?

You know, one thing I like that James does, that a lot of good actors do, is they don’t feel compelled to speak all the time. I think a lot of more novice actors have to be on the line always, and as soon as your line is done it’s my line, and James — like so many good actors — will sit in silence, or with a look, or with a mood, or with a feeling or a thought and not feel compelled to speak or to say something, or even do anything. And I think that comfortability and that sitting in a moment, that’s something I admire and hopefully would like to steal.

With the espionage aspect, how have you gotten to broaden your skill set, physically? What are the fun things that you’re going to be able to do with your character that you haven’t maybe had room in “the Blacklist”?

Well, one thing is that I’d like to make the — if we’re going to do a show about a spy who is a highly-trained assassin, I’d like to make him as much of that, honestly, as we can. So, I’d like to train a little bit, if I could, and maybe get better at martial arts, the Israeli martial art Krav Maga, which is very interesting, or different fighting styles, and just sort of train a little bit.

And, obviously, I’m not going to be joining the UFC tomorrow, but I would love to — and I’ve learned a great deal doing “The Blacklist” and just rehearsing fight scenes and doing them, but I still consider myself a novice in the world of fight choreography and things. I’m very riveted by it. I mean, it’s fun. When you’re in acting class, or whatever, when you’re a kid, you do a dialogue and this stuff is so something else. It’s so physical and more athletic and it’s really fun. So I’d like to get better. I’d like to train and get better at that.

What was the conversation like when they first broached the idea of taking you to another show? How did they approach you, and what was your immediate reaction to it?

John Bokenkamp took me out to grab a bite. I was in L.A., and he just said, “Hey, man, I want you to know that like there’s an idea that we’re all talking about, and that’s this show kind of based on your character, and it might happen.” And my first thought was, “Man, that could be so fun. There’s so much to explore with this character. We could really do some fun things, but it’ll never happen,” you know?

It’s like, it’s Hollywood, everybody wants to do a million things, and there’s a lot of talk, and I was like “It’ll never happen.” And then a few months later they were like, “Let’s do it,” and I was like, “Wow! OK — great. Let’s do it. I’m in!”

Have you ever had the opportunity to talk to somebody who works in the shadowy world of espionage, anybody that does it as a real vocation? And, if so, how do you find them?

Exactly, how do you find them? I’ve spoken to police officers. I have spoken to FBI, but I’ve never spoken to, like, a real NSA guy, or a CIA guy, or a real-type spy. The closest I came was one of my parents’ neighbors, actually: her husband was a spy, was a real, actual spy. She’s an older woman, and this man — I believe he’s not with us anymore — he was an actual spy during the Cold War. He was in Russia, spying for the United States, and in real life!

And, so, obviously she couldn’t tell people. She didn’t know, but she only knew that he would tell her this was when he’d be back, or he’d have to leave, or yada yada — and that was just to get the peripheral experience from her of being married to this man who would go to Russia during the height of this tension and pretend to be someone else, and gain information. I mean, it was really cool to be near the reality of it, and to speak with actually him or someone like that would be amazing.

What will you miss most about being part of the main “Blacklist” series on a regular basis?

One of the things I will miss most, hands down, is working with Megan [Boone], because the relationship with Tom and Liz is so complicated, and so romantic on some levels, and kind of funny, and sort of tragic in other ways, and I just really enjoy it, and I enjoy working with her, and I enjoy finding new things to bring to that relationship.

I enjoy trying to find the truth in it. Even though it’s in this heightened dramatic world, I like looking for the things that we can all relate to in our personal romantic relationships because they’re all fundamentally the same, those problems and things. It’s just on a heightened more dramatic more elevated scale.

So I will certainly miss that, but you know that relationship I don’t think is going to go away. I think there will be some crossover with Megan on the new thing, and vice versa. So, certainly that, and then just everybody. But I’m not going to be totally jumping ship. I’ll be back before too long.

“The Blacklist: Redemption” premieres in 2017. “The Blacklist” airs Thursdays on NBC.

  • Recap of ‘The Blacklist’ Season 3 Episode 2: Tom Is Back!

Last time we checked in on “The Blacklist,” Liz Keen had box-dyed her hair a freakishly gorgeous shade of blonde (seriously, what is this dye she’s using?), and was chilling at the Russian embassy — because lest you forget she’s identifying as a FSB agent these days. So, did everyone’s favorite FBI profiler make it to the Mother Land? Not so much. Keep reading to find out what happened to Liz, plus details on Tom Keen’s return from the beyond. (He’s baa-aaaack!)

Liz Joins Team Russia, Promptly Re-Joins Team USA
So, Liz’s plan completely fails the moment she crosses into Russia’s embassy. Like, it could not have been more of a failure. The good news is she barters diplomatic immunity using her wit and charm, but the bad news is that her contact is secretly a cabal member, who definitely wants to kill her on the airplane over to Moscow. So, all in all not a great day for Liz.

Red Takes a Bunch of Randoms Hostage, Ressler Remains Confused
As we all know, Ressler is the worst FBI agent of all time, and he basically has no idea what he’s doing with himself. Sure, he manages to save Liz by intercepting her ride to the airport, but then he loses her because he has no idea how to run / use his legs. Since Ressler never learned how to chase people, Liz manages to book it over to a coffee shop where she finds Red — but it’s only a few minutes before Ressler shows up and ruins everything. Poor Red’s forced to take everyone hostage due to Ressler’s ineptitude, but he gets a few demands in for good measure. Most important among them? Bring in corrupt lawyer, Marvin Gerard, or a hostage dies every half hour.

Ressler Continues to Be Terrible at His Job, Miraculously Hasn’t Been Fired
Spoiler alert: Red is a genius. Turns out he set up the entire hostage situation as a jail break, conning Ressler into getting him a lawyer in the process. Oh, Ress. One day you’ll get better at this job! While we don’t know what purpose Gerard will serve this season, we do know that Liz and Red have set sail to lands unknown. We can only assume they’re traveling to Europe to buy Red some more fedoras.

    Two Words: TOM KEEN
The best day of your life is here: Tom Keen is back on “The Blacklist,” and showed up just to chat with Ressler. Who knows what these two could have to talk about other than their mutual crush on Liz, but maybe they’ll actually get something done for once. Either way we’re excited — though the fact that Dembe is currently being tortured in a warehouse is kind of putting a damper on things. Will he crack and give the cabal Red’s location? Probably, because the sock weapon he was repeatedly hit with doesn’t look like fun times.

    Burning Questions….
    1. Where are Liz and Red going? We know Red has connections everywhere, but they can’t just peace out to another country without anyone noticing, right?

    2. What does Tom want with Ressler? We assume he’s Team Liz, so hopefully he’s there to change Ressler’s mind. Expect lots of awkwardness since both these men are clearly in love with The Blacklist’s leading lady.

    3. Is Dembe OK? Because we’re getting worried.

    4. Who is in charge of the cabal and what do they want with Red — other than to seek revenge for exposing The Fulcrum?

  • Recap of ‘The Blacklist’ Season 2 Episode 17: The Longevity Initiative

THE BLACKLIST -- Things are happening on “The Blacklist,” by which we mean yet another serial killer is wandering around Washington D.C. on a mission to murder us all! This week, our favorite FBI task force and their fedora-clad leader take down yet another Blacklister, and more importantly Elizabeth’s husband, Tom Keen, comes face-to-face with his past –– and not in an emotional “trip down memory lane” way. More like in a terrifying, murder-y way. Head below to find out what happens to Tom –– not to mention which special someone Elizabeth spends her birthday with!

Elizabeth and Ressler Take On A New Case, Jellyfish Remain Terrifying
Let’s talk about this week’s Blacklister, a mega-creep named Dr. Powell who’s mission is to find the key to human immortality. Clearly, he’s never watched “Tuck Everlasting.” Dr. Powell works for a company called The Longevity Initiative (funded by billionaire Roger Hobbs), and conducts his research by experimenting –– and usually killing –– people with frontal lobe damage by putting jellyfish cells in their brains. So yeah…we’ll never look at a jellyfish in the same way again.

Elizabeth and Detective Ressler get their investigation on by visiting a care center where one of Powell’s victims was located, which leads them to discover his minion. This fellow has no problem forking over information on his employer’s identity, and before long Liz and Ressler head to Powell’s clinic and find his extremely creepy experiments in action. Let’s just say jellyfish and brains don’t go hand-in-hand.

Tom Gets Kidnapped, Then Gets Kidnapped Again
Look everyone, Tom isn’t your ordinary undercover operative. He’s actually an emotionally damaged orphan who was poached by an old man who’s job is literally turning children into criminals. In other words, someone needs to find Tom a therapist.

This poor guy is in big trouble with the Nazis who he was working for (apparently they’re mad about that whole undercover thing), and to make matters worse his mentor, Bud, kidnaps and tries to murder him. The good news is that Tom’s Nazi frenemies usurp said murder attempt by kidnapping both Tom and Bud, and then proceed to torture them. Tom refuses to give up information –– until his kidnappers find an old ultrasound in his bag with Elizabeth’s name on it, at which point he’s basically like “let me tell you all the secrets ever.” This is definitely a guy in love!

Agent Cooper Fights For His Life, Red Crosses Elizabeth

Wondering how Agent Cooper’s health is doing? Fabulously! In fact, he’s up and about without a cane, rocking a jaunty cardigan, and loving life! However, Cooper’s “friend,” US Attorney Thomas Connelly, is a good friend of Roger Hobbs (aka the man funding Powell), and if Hobbs gets arrested, Cooper could be kicked off his clinical trial.

Despite this complicated web of relationships, Red and Ressler continue solving their case and discover that Powell’s obsession with human longevity stems from wanting to save his wife’s life. Ressler and Liz are moments away from catching Powell when he visits his leading lady, but at the behest of Roger (who he’s friends with), Red swoops in and steals Powell out from under them. For a brief moment Red hopes he can help restore Liz’s memory, but this depressed doc ends up killing himself instead!

In other news, it’s Elizabeth’s birthday. Naturally Red brings her a fancy bottle of wine, and she ends up drinking it with none other than Ressler! How adorable –– except when Liz eventually gets home Tom is there waiting for her…. Looks like we officially have a love triangle on our hands –– not to mention some burning questions.

    1. Elizabeth clearly has feelings for Tom, but will Ressler fight for her love and attention?
    2. Red briefly mentions that he wants Roger Hobbs in his debt. Why?
    3. Bud seems determined to kill Tom –– will the FBI help him?
    4. Red thumbed through some photos of Childhood Liz at the end of this episode. Is this more proof that he might be her real dad?

  • ‘The Blacklist’ Season 2, Episode 11 Recap: Ruslan Denisov

    THE BLACKLIST --

After weeks of wondering what The Fulcrum is (our leading theory = “the name of Red’s favorite fedora”), it was finally revealed to be a tiny box full of circa-80s wires. Oh, and it’s been chilling out in Elizabeth’s stuffed bunny rabbit for the past twenty odd years. This week, we find out even more about Elizabeth’s secret –– but more on that later –– there are blacklisters to be taken down. This episode’s public enemy number one is even more sinister than usual, so let the drama and intrigue begin.

Aram Checks Out The Fulcrum, Lizzy Heads To Uzbekistan
Much like the rest of the world, Elizabeth has no idea what The Fulcrum is, so she asks Aram to analyze it. His consensus? It’s a “beta recording device.” Wow, how completely unhelpful, Aram. Obviously, Lizzy doesn’t tell Red about her discovery (she’s still mad at him), but these two are forced to work together after a blacklister named Denizo wanders into a Ukrainian church and kidnaps a CIA agent. Turns out Denizo funds his political passions by abducting high level CEOs and holding them for ransom –– so, basically he’s a totally reasonable business man.

Agent Cooper sends Lizzy and Ressler to Uzbekistan, where they’re immediately taken by Denizo and given a tour of his creepy underground lair. This friendly murderer informs everyone that he wants to use Agent Burke as a negotiating tool to call attention to an American oil company called Annec’s pipeline. Turns out said pipeline’s water is poisoning villagers and melting their skin off, so you can understand why Denizo might be upset.

Red Switches Teams, The CIA Continue To Be Buzz-Kills
In an alarming twist, Denizo hires Reddington as his representative in negotiations–– but fear not, he’s only there to help. The plan? For the state department to encourage Anneca to clean up their pipeline mess, while Reddington convinces Denizo to release Burke. Easy right? Nope.

Despite being told to stand down by Agent Cooper, the CIA sends in a task force to attack the compound where Denizo is supposedly keeping Burke, and said attack is lead by a nasty Uzbek official (don’t worry, Red ends up killing him later in the episode)! Fortunately, Reddinton warned Denizo to move the hostages ahead of time, but now the situation is a hot mess. Basically, the relationship status for this episode is “It’s Complicated.”

Red Saves The Day, Elizabeth’s Secret Is Out
Now that The CIA has up and ruined everything (thanks, guys), Denizo is in a terrible mood (sigh, his life is so hard), but Red throws him a bone by forcing Agent Burke to reveal that it was actually a former cabinet minister who gave Anneca the right to build the pipeline. Naturally, Red pays the minister a visit and after a quick torture session he agrees to play ball.

Before we know it, Red sets up a meeting, reveals that Anneca’s built multiple poison-leeching pipelines over the years, and the company agrees to pack up the pipeline. Success! Well, almost. Unfortunately the CIA tries to kidnap Red during Burke’s hostage exchange, but Cooper runs in and is like “LOL, no,” (in so many words), saving Red’s life and giving him the ability to make billions on a new and improved French pipeline! Literally, so many pipelines in this episode.

In other news, remember back when Elizabeth was holding Tom in a rusty ship, and that friendly old man wandered aboard and promptly got murdered? Well his name was Eugene, and he told his wife all about Lizzy. Now the police are on the case, and to make matters worse her former body guard is selling her out. He even took the police to Eugene’s body. Whoops!

    Burning Questions
    1. Seriously, what is The Fulcrum? If it’s from the 80s does it even work anymore? So worried.
    2. Is Elizabeth going to jail for murder? Things are not looking good.
    3. When will Tom come back into Elizabeth’s life? We know Red told him to stay away, but their chemistry is unbeatable.
    4. Speaking of chemistry, are Liz and Ressler ever going to kiss? There’s so much tension between them you could break it with a shiv.
    5. Things just aren’t the same with Liz and Red on the outs. When will they start getting along again?

  • NBC Renews ‘The Blacklist,’ ‘Chicago Fire,’ ‘Chicago P.D.,’ 2 More Dramas

    the blacklist
Five dramas are getting early renewals from NBC, with the network announcing Thursday that “The Blacklist,” “Chicago Fire,” “Chicago P.D.,” “Grimm,” and “Law & Order: SVU” are all due for another season.

“The creative vision of the executive producers who’ve guided these outstanding dramas has been nothing short of incredible,” said NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke in a statement. “We’re highly appreciative of the passion they bring to their shows at every step of the creative process and we’re thrilled to reward that dedication with these renewals.”

The renewals come as NBC currently sits at the top of the Nielsen ratings, thanks to the record-setting Super Bowl broadcast and a string of hits. What remains to be seen, however, is whether freshman shows like “Constantine,” “The Mysteries of Laura,” and “State of Affairs” will get renewed, too. (EW reports that it’s still early in the renewals process, so those series could sneak in — though “Constantine” had its production halted after 13 episodes, which is never a good sign for a show’s future.)

“The Blacklist” will be back for a third season, “Chicago Fire” for a fourth, “Chicago P.D.” for a third, “Grimm” for a fifth, and “SVU” for a 17th.

  • ‘The Blacklist’ Primer: 5 Things You Need to Know Before Sunday’s Premiere

“The Blacklist” is premiering in NBC’s coveted post-Superbowl slot this Sunday, and we’re kicking things off (note the football reference) with a roundup of everything you need to know going into the show’s premiere.

It’s no secret that “The Blacklist” can be just as confusing as it is addictive, and the mid-season finale set a few important events in motion that are definitely worth catching up on. If you’re in need of a “Blacklist” refresher before Sunday night’s big premiere, we’ve got you covered with 5 things to remember going into the episode. And feel free to keep this list handy for when you inevitably need a break from yelling at your TV screen about Deflate Gate.

    1. Alan Fitch Is Dead…Which Means Red Is Vulnerable
Alan Fitch had a bomb strapped to his neck during “The Blacklist’s” mid-season finale, and unfortunately Red was unable to disarm it. So, yes, his head exploded. This is a huge problem because Fitch happened to protect Red from a mysterious group of power players, and Red will only continue to have leverage over them if he proves that he’s in possession of “the fulcrum.” Fitch also requested that Red visit his safe in Saint Petersburg, so expect The Blacklist to be making a road trip to Russia sometime soon.

    2. Red and Tom Are Working Together
In what has to be the most alarming reveal in Blacklist history, Tom and Red are secretly in cahoots. These unlikely allies were shown meeting up in the last moments of the finale, wherein Red handed Tom an envelope of what appeared to be money and told him never to contact Lizzy again. Tom also reminded Red that “I never told her about us, not one word,” which means they’ve been in each other’s orbit for who knows how long.

    3. Lizzy Still Loves Tom
Tom might not be allowed to see Lizzy anymore (per Red’s instructions), but that doesn’t mean she’ll stop loving him. Lizzy confided in Red during the mid-season finale and told him that her feelings for Tom prevented her from killing him –– which is definitely bad news for Agent Ressler, who’s clearly infatuated with Lizzy. Will this love triangle develop further now that we’ve hit the back half of season two? With Tom ostensibly out of the picture, it’s unclear.

    4. The Task Force Is Suspicious
Lizzy and Ressler are the only ones who know that Tom is the informant who led them to Fitch, which means they’re both lying to their superior. No one’s said anything out loud, but the abundance of side-long glances implies that suspicions are growing about how Lizzy spends her time, not to mention what kind of secrets she might be keeping from the group.

    5. We Still Don’t Know If Red Is Lizzy’s Father
If you’re fuzzy on the details of Red and Lizzy’s relationship status, know this: it’s complicated.
