  • Andrew Garfield & Emma Stone May Be Dating Again, and Fans Are Freaking Out

"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" - World Premiere - Red Carpet ArrivalsGive love another round of CPR ’cause it might not be dead after all!

The Internet is latching onto rumors that “The Amazing Spider-Man” couple Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone may have rekindled their romance after a two-year break. The exclusive is out of the U.K. tabloid The Sun, so that should probably give us pause, but fans are determined to find some silver lining in the universe, so if it has to come from anonymous sources, so be it!

Here’s part of The Sun‘s report:

“Things are heating up again for the pair with US actress Emma making multiple trips to see him in his London production Angels In America.

A source close to the actor said: “Andrew’s feelings for Emma never softened and now they are growing close once again.

She has seen the show several times and always goes backstage afterwards to see him.

“They have even been sneaking out of the back door holding hands.”

The source added that Stone spent some time in the U.K. earlier this year to shoot her film “The Favourite,” but made another trip to London when she reconnected with Garfield.

“There is a lot of history between them but they are both so busy. At the moment they are just seeing what happens.”

Well, what’s happening is Twitter is ecstatic at the idea of this beloved couple getting back together, especially after the heartbreak of Anna Faris and Chris Pratt separating:

We don’t want to get too excited, but — concerning The Sun report — the reliable LaineyGossip said, “For those of you who are still shipping these two, it’s worth noting that Dan Wootton is the reporter who broke the story that Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn are dating so he has a solid track record.”

This is not a bad time to be Emma Stone in general. Not only is she maybe back together with the lovable Andrew Garfield, she’s the reigning Best Actress Oscar winner, and “La La Land” is reportedly what pushed her over the edge to beat Jennifer Lawrence as the highest-paid actress in the world. (All she does is win, win, win, no matter what…)

  • Kirsten Dunst Dismisses New ‘Spider-Man’ Movies: ‘They’re Just Milking That Cow for Money’

US actors Tobey Maguire (R) and KirstenThis Mary Jane has no time for any Peter Parker but Tobey Maguire.

Kirsten Dunst co-starred in director Sam Raimi’s three “Spider-Man” movies from 2002-2007, and she’s still casually shading the reboots — not only Tom Holland in the upcoming “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” but also “The Amazing Spider-Man” movies with Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone.

Basically, everyone else can sit down.

'The Amazing Spider-Man' Madrid PremiereDunst’s most recent comments are in the new issue of Marie Claire, as part of the promotion for her new movie “The Beguiled.” Here’s that part of the interview:

When asked for her opinion on the Spider-Man reboot, she was also pretty unequivocal. ‘We made the best ones, so who cares? I’m like, “You make it all you want.” They’re just milking that cow for money. It’s so obvious. You know what I mean?’

Some fans are taking those comments very seriously, especially as a direct attack on the MCU’s reboot with Tom Holland, but she’s just being loyal to her own team — and probably with a laugh, since she’s not confusing any of this with brain surgery.

Dunst shared similar mild insults when talking to Variety about how her career took off when she was cast as Mary Jane in Raimi’s “Spider-Man.”

“I wanted to be in that movie so badly. I loved it, and I wish we could have made a fourth.”

Here’s what she had to say about the new films:

She’s ambivalent about Sony’s decision to keep rebooting the franchise, now in its third iteration. “I don’t care,” she says of the reboots, admitting she didn’t see the last installment. “Everyone likes our ‘Spider-Man.’ C’mon, am I right or what? Listen, I’d rather be in the first ones than the new ones.”

So, like many commenters on the Internet, she says she doesn’t care, but does care just enough to throw some shade. It’s a good thing this Mary Jane isn’t at Peter Parker’s high school in “Homecoming,” ’cause she’d probably scare him more than Vulture.

  • Andrew Garfield Admits Playing Spider-Man Made Him ‘Heartbroken’

Actor Andrew Garfield arrives for the prBig-budget comic book movies aren’t exactly known for their devotion to character development and creative storytelling, and actor Andrew Garfield learned that firsthand while donning spandex to play the titular role in the “Amazing Spider-Man” series. Now, Garfield is reflecting on that experience, which he admits left him a bit disillusioned about the filmmaking process.

In an interview with actress Amy Adams for Variety’s Actors on Actors series, Garfield chatted with his fellow superhero star about the highs and the lows of working on those types of films. While the actor — who’s discussed his displeasure with “Amazing Spider-Man 2” in the past — said that he enjoyed the experience overall, especially working with his director and the rest of the cast, other aspects of the superhero system were a bit disheartening.

“There’s something about being that young in that kind of machinery that I think is really dangerous,” Garfield explained. “I wasn’t a teenager, but I was still young enough to struggle with the value system, I suppose, of corporate America.”

Adams admitted that while she enjoys playing Lois Lane in the DC filmverse, she’s very much aware that her character is “in service of the story instead of the story serving a character.” Garfield related to that idea when it came to playing Spidey.

“There’s something that happened with that experience for me where story and character were not actually top of the priority list, ultimately,” he told Adams. “And I found that really, really tricky. I signed up to serve the story and to serve this incredible character I’d been dressing as since I was 3. And then it gets compromised, and it breaks my heart. I got heartbroken a little bit.”

It’s certainly refreshing to hear an actor speak so earnestly about his disappointment with a once-in-a-lifetime experience like headlining a tentpole superhero flick. Here’s hoping he doesn’t get to Sally Field-levels of disillusionment anytime soon, though.

  • Sally Field Did Not Like Her ‘Amazing Spider-Man’ Aunt May Role

sally field, amazing spider-man, aunt maySuperhero movies usually try to snag a few A-listers or award winners to boost their credibility, and that was certainly true of the “Amazing Spider-Man” franchise, which launched back in 2012. Oscar winner Sally Field took on the role of Aunt May, Peter Parker’s mother figure, but according to the actress, it wasn’t exactly a great part.

In an interview with Howard Stern, Field was asked if she liked the films, and she didn’t mince her words.

“Not especially,” the actress replied. “It’s not my kind of movie.”

Field went on to explain that she only took the role because of the movie’s producer, Laura Ziskin, an old friend and former producing partner of hers. Ziskin passed away in 2011, and it was understood that “Spider-Man” would be her last film, Field said, so she wanted to be there for her friend and work with her one last time.

As for the actual acting, Field admitted that “not a great deal” of thought went into prepping to play Aunt May, since “it’s really hard to find a three-dimensional character” in such a minor, under-developed role.

“You work at it as much as you can, but you can’t put 10 pounds of s–t in a five-pound bag,” Field told Stern.

It’s hardly trashing the film, but it’s certainly refreshing to hear an actor speak so candidly about a role. Field knew she wasn’t the star or the main draw, and she played her part as such, which is really all you can ask of a veteran professional.

And that’s not to say she had a bad experience making the movie. Field told Stern that working with titular star Andrew Garfield was “fun,” and called him “a lovely, lovely actor.”

“I loved being there for the people,” the actress added.

Just don’t expect her to star in any more superhero flicks again.

  • This ‘Spider-Gwen’ Trailer Reimagines Emma Stone as the Real Hero

spider-gwen, emma stone, amazing spider-manSick and tired of boys getting all the attention — and fresh off the success of a new Marvel comic series — the folks at Vulture have reimagined Emma Stone‘s Gwen Stacy character as the actual hero of the “Amazing Spider-Man” series, with some pretty awesome results.

The fake trailer for “Spider-Gwen,” based on the comic of the same name, centers on Gwen (Stone, with an assist from body double and cosplayer Julianne Cancalosi), who’s bitten by a radioactive spider instead of Peter Parker. In voiceover cobbled from various Stone flicks (including the Oscar-winning “Birdman,” which also supplies some footage that doubles as “Spider-Man” villain the Vulture), Gwen explains what it’s like for a teenager to suddenly be giving such great powers — especially a teen who just happens to have such a powerful policeman for a father.

It’s a little choppy in places, but then again, it’s not a real movie — which is a real shame. The fact of the matter is that there have been so few quality depictions of female superheroes on the big screen; that this looks so entertaining, and doesn’t even exist, is the real crime.

Check out the awesomeness for yourself below. Can someone start a petition to get “Spider-Gwen” into theaters?
