    • Matthias Schoenaerts is joining Supergirl.
    • He’ll play the villain opposite Milly Alcock’s conflicted title character.
    • ‘Cruella’s Craig Gillespie is in the director’s chair.

While we’ve known for a while that ‘House of the Dragon’ actor Milly Alcock has snagged the role of Kara Zor-El, AKA Supergirl in ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,’ other news has been slower to arrive.

That changes today, as Deadline reports that Matthias Schoenaerts has scored the role of the villain in the new movie.

What is the plan for the ‘Supergirl’ movie?

Alcock will reportedly first show up in another DC movie (the main speculation has been on James Gunn’s ‘Superman’, though the director has shot that down online, even if it seems unlikely there will be another release from Warner Bros./DC between ‘Superman’ and ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.’)

She’ll then appear in her own movie, which was announced alongside the rest of Gunn and Safran’s plan for the first wave of their new movie/TV universe.

‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’ will be a big-scale sci-fi film based on Tom King and Bilquis Evely’s comic run. It features a “darker, harsher” version of Kara Zor-El raised on a surviving chunk of Krypton who sees everyone around her die.

This is what Gunn said at the time of the announcement:

“This is a very different type of Supergirl. In our film, we see the difference between Superman, who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from, you know, the time he’s an infant, versus Supergirl, who was raised on a rock chip-off of Krypton and watched everyone around her die and be killed in terrible ways for the first 14 years of her life, and then came to Earth when she was a young girl and is much more hardcore. She’s not exactly the Supergirl we’re used to seeing.”

Who will Schoenaerts play in ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’?

Matthias Schoenaerts in 'The Regime.' Photograph by Miya Mizuno/HBO.

Assuming the movie maintains the comic’s storyline, Schoenaerts will be playing Krem of the Yellow Hill, who kills a young alien girl’s father. She then draws Supergirl into the conflict.

And, more controversially, he also kills Supergirl’s dog, leading her to go all ‘John Wick.’

While the actor is more known for his indie movie and European work (including the likes of ‘Rust and Bone,’ ‘The Danish Girl’ and Luca Guadagnino’s ‘A Bigger Splash’), Schoenaerts is not a stranger to comic book-based movies, having appeared in Netflix’s ‘The Old Guard’ (he’s back for the sequel, which is still awaiting a release slot.)

Who is making ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’?

Craig Gillespie is making the new movie. Gillespie brings a lot of experience to the table –– he’s directed several movies with female characters at their heart (including ‘I, Tonya’ and ‘Cruella’), and is also adept at balancing tone.

The cameras will be rolling this coming January in the UK.

Ana Nogueira has been adapting the comic book with some input from Tom King. DC Studios bosses Gunn and Peter Safran are producing, and DC executive vice president Chantal Nong is an executive producer.

  • Exclusive News: Frank Grillo Talks ‘Superman’ and More

Last year Moviefone spoke exclusively to actor Frank Grillo (‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’), and he revealed that he would be working with director James Gunn on an upcoming DC universe project. We guessed that it might be ‘Superman’, but the actor denied it … for the most part.

It was later revealed officially that Grillo would be playing Rick Flag Sr. in the animated series ‘Creature Commandos’ and eventually other live-action DC projects. We’ve since learned that he will in fact also appear in ‘Peacemaker’ season 2 as Flag and wait for it … Grillo will appear in ‘Superman’ as well.

Moviefone recently had the pleasure of once again speaking exclusively with Frank Grillo about his new movie ‘Long Gone Heroes’, which is available in theaters, on digital and on demand September 20th, as well as ‘Hounds of War’, which will be available on VOD September 20th.

We also spoke to Grillo about shooting ‘Superman’, working with James Gunn, ‘Peacemaker’ season 2, working with John Cena, making ‘Creature Commandos’, and if Joel Kinnaman calls him dad now.

Here is what Grillo said about keeping his appearance in ‘Superman’ a secret:

“They are so trying to not let anything out prematurely, purely for the audience, purely for the fans. I’ve been terrible at it in the past and have almost been fired. I swore to them I would not, if I had to lie, I’ll lie. I hate to lie, but yeah, I just can’t say anything. I think it’s for the best. Because of the way (James) Gunn and Peter Safran have organized DC, whether it’s ‘Peacemaker’ and ‘Superman’, a lot of it is intertwined. So, if you talk about something, it could be a spoiler. So, you got to be diligent about not just saying too much, you know? By the way, that was my excuse with Marvel. I’m like, “I’m not lying.” They’re like, “Yeah, you are.” I’m like, “I don’t want to lie. It makes me feel bad.” They go, “We don’t care.’”

He also had this to say about working with James Gunn on ‘Superman’ and other projects:

“I mean, look, I’ve been on those sets, right? I’ve been on the steps. I’ve been in that world with all of them, with the biggest, right? Especially when I had the little bit in ‘Avengers’, every one of those guys was there. It was so amazing. But James Gunn is a different creature. He’s a different animal, right? He’s an artist who now took over a studio and he’s an active artist. I mean, what he’s written for ‘Creature Commandos’. It’s amazing. When I read his words for ‘Peacemaker’, I’m like, it’s perfect. He’s a creative master, and what they are doing between the business aspect and the creative aspect is mind-boggling to me. So, I think everyone’s going to be happy.”

Grillo confirmed that he will appear in ‘Peacemaker’ season 2 saying, “Oh, (I’m in) the whole thing. Yeah.”

He also had this to say about working with John Cena:

“There’s another guy. I would think, “Oh, Cena, a wrestler, kind of a thug.” But this guy reads a book every two days. He is the most gracious man I have ever met. Intelligent, funny, strong, but there’s no accidents. I always say there’s no accidents in success. John Cena is exactly where John Cena should be. The guy’s a freak. You know what he does on his spare time in the trailer? He plays the piano!”

The animated series will kick off DC’s ‘Chapter One: Gods and Monsters’ saga and is set to premiere on Max December 5th.

Grillo had this to say about the new series:

“I can’t say anything about it, but I’ve seen it. I’ve done it, and it’s funny, it’s heartbreaking, it’s raunchy and it’s like nothing I’ve ever seen. So, we’re going to go to (New York) Comic-Con with it in October to show a little bit of it. I’m so excited and I’m excited for James Gunn and Peter Safran, most of all. I really am.”

Finally, we asked Grillo if he’s met Joel Kinnaman who played Rick Flag Jr. in the ‘Suicide Squad’ movies, and if so, did Kinnaman call him dad?

“Yeah, Joel and I had to do a couple of things. I didn’t know Joel. We knew each other through mutual friends, but never really knew each other. That’s what I love about this business. Another spectacular guy, spectacular actor. I’m a big fan of his acting, but (he’s) just a great person. I love that guy. He’s a good man. I’m glad he is my son.”

    • Josh Brolin may play Hal Jordan in DC’s ‘Lanterns’ series.
    • He’s not officially attached yet.
    • Damon Lindelof and Chris Mundy are among the producers of the new show.

July brought word that the long-gestating DC Studios TV series for HBO based on comic book property ‘The Green Lantern’ entitled ‘Lanterns‘ is officially greenlit and putting the pieces together.

With DC Studios bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran as executive producers (though not showrunners –– see who is below), the show received the go-ahead for eight initial episodes in a straight-to-series order.

And if current reports pan out, we may know one person who would be starring in the series, as a site called Nexus Point News has heard that Josh Brolin has been offered the role of Hal Jordan.

While reporter Jeff Sneider has also heard those rumblings, here’s where we point out that none of this is official yet and is currently still more rumor than fact.

Brolin, of course has had both good and bad experiences in the comic book genre –– ‘Jonah Hex’ didn’t turn out so well, but he saw big success playing Thanos for Marvel. But this could be an exciting new role for him.

What’s the story of ‘Green Lantern’ in comics form?

    DC Comics' Green Lantern.
DC Comics’ Green Lantern. Photo: DC Comics.

Created in its first incarnation (a Lantern named Alan Scott) in 1940 by Martin Nodell and Bill Finger, the concept of the ‘Green Lantern’ comics is that of a super-powered, police force, battling evil doers with rings that allow them to channel energy into different forms. There are many Lanterns, who patrol the known and unknown universe.

‘Green Lantern’s history on screen has been seriously mixed. Though different takes on the character have flourished in animated movies and series, their live-action counterparts have had less luck. Ryan Reynolds played the Hal Jordan version in a 2011 movie that didn’t triumph at the box office, and there have been fleeting glimpses on the small screen.

Even Zack Snyder didn’t manage to realize his chosen Lantern –– John Stewart –– in his mammoth Snyder Cut of ‘Justice League’. Despite shooting a cameo with Wayne T. Carr as Stewart, Warners asked him to remove the character because of the studio’s own plans. In the end, Snyder swapped in Martian Manhunter.

(Center) James Gunn and the cast of ‘Superman.’ Photo: James Gunn’s Instagram Account.

Gunn has Nathan Fillion playing the Guy Gardner incarnation in his ‘Superman’ movie, which lands on July 11th next year.

And the show had been in development before Gunn and Safran made their big announcement. Back in 2020, ‘Pride and Prejudice and ZombiesSeth Grahame-Smith hopped aboard to write and run what HBO Max (as the streaming service was then called) was picturing its most expensive series to date, a space-set ‘Green Lantern’ drama whose focus would be the Alan Scott and Guy Gardner iterations of the character among the first and most popular versions.

‘Lanterns’ will follow the Hal Jordan and John Stewart characters, as new recruit Stewart and Lantern legend Jordan are described in the latest official synopsis as “two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.”

    Who is working on ‘Lanterns’?

Chris Mundy, whose resume includes stints on Netflix’s ‘Ozark’ and HBO’s ‘True Detective: Night Country’, is showrunner on the new series, working alongside ‘Watchmen’s Damon Lindelof and DC comics writer Tom King (whose ‘Supergirl’ comic is the basis for the new movie featuring the character).

And, according to Jeff Sneider, there have been talks for Lindelof’s ‘Watchmen’ collaborator, director Stephen Williams, to handle the first episode of the new series.

    • James Gunn has marked the end of shooting for ‘Superman’.

Having shot in Norway, Cleveland and Atlanta, writer/director James Gunn and his ‘Superman’ cast and crew have now completed filming on the superhero movie that Gunn intends –– cinematically, at least –– to kick off his vision for the DC movie universe going forward.

With David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Gunn has been busy making the movie under great scrutiny, his concept for Superman seen as partly defining the way ahead for DC on screens big and small.

    OT00arSyAacXCGscjvNND4

Gunn hasn’t been shy about sharing behind the scenes looks at making the movie and we’ve seen the first look at Corenswet in costume.

Now, though, barring any planned additional footage shoots, Gunn is headed into the post-production stage ahead of the movie’s release next year. We can likely expect at least the first teaser before the year is out.

“And that’s a wrap,” Gunn posted on Instagram about wrapping. “God bless our cast and crew whose commitment, creativity, and hard work have brought this project to life.”

Little is truly known about the plotline at this point, but Gunn has been clear that he’s eschewing the usual exploding home planet Krypton/arrival in Smallville origin story (though those will likely be referenced) in favor of more of a workplace film with Clark showing up to work at the Planet, where Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan) will already be an established reporting star.

Peter Safran, Gunn’s co-chief of DC Studios (and a producer on the movie) said this about the new movie during the duo’s big announcement about DC films and series going forward:

“It focuses on Superman balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way. He is kindness in a world that thinks of kindness as old-fashioned.”

That’s the main ensemble; we can expect an appearance from Gunn’s brother Sean (a regular in his movies, who has played the likes of Kraglin and provided the on-set reference performance and voice for Rocket Raccoon in the ‘Guardians’ franchise) as the villainous Maxwell Lord.

Given the intense scrutiny of James Gunn’s new ‘Superman’ film –– which, if not already burdened enough by having to launch the latest iteration of the DC superhero figurehead also has to cinematically kickstart the filmmaker’s vision for the overall DC movie and TV universe –– it’s hardly surprising that he chose to get out ahead of those wanting to snap a paparazzi shot of new star David Corenswet in his Superman suit.

In a fun twist from the usual Super-introduction, the shot appears to show Corenswet’s Clark Kent calmly pulling on one of his suit’s boots instead of the standard, all-action first look. And that’s despite some giant threat seemingly outside the window, looming over Metropolis. But we’ll say this: Corenswet certainly looks the part, though some fans are certainly drawing comparisons to Henry Cavill’s ‘Man of Steel’ look.

Filming has been underway on the movie for a couple of months now, with production happening in Norway for some Fortress of Solitude location work and its homebase of Atlanta.

And though Gunn has previously said that he won’t necessarily be diving back into all the iconic origin narrative points of Clark Kent/Superman’s story, it does appear there is room for both of his parents to appear.

The Wrap reports that Pruitt Taylor Vince has been cast as Jonathan Kent, the farmer who, with wife Martha, discovers an infant Kal El in a crashed spaceship and adopts him as their own, raising Clark to be a good man who channels his parents’ morals when he discovers his powers.

In a separate story, the outlet has revealed that Neva Howell will play Martha. Jonathan in particular tends to be a tragic figure, the character dying when Clark is a young man. Whether that holds true here (or if he’s only seen in flashback) remains to be seen.

Little is truly known about the plotline at this point, but Gunn has been clear that he’s eschewing the usual exploding home planet Krypton story (though that and now clearly his time in Smallville will factor in) in favor of more of a workplace film with Clark showing up to work at the Planet, where Lois Lane will already be an established reporting star.

Safran said this about the new movie during the duo’s big announcement about DC films and series going forward:

“It focuses on Superman balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way. He is kindness in a world that thinks of kindness as old-fashioned.”

David Corenswet is playing Clark Kent/Supes, while Rachel Brosnahan will be Lois.

Also in the cast? Nicholas Hoult (Lex Luthor), Skyler Gisondo (Jimmy Olsen), Nathan Fillion (Guy Gardener), Isabela Mercad (Hawkgirl), Anthony Carrigan (Metamorpho), Terence Rosemore (Otis), Edi Gathegi (Mister Terrific), Sara Sampaio (Eve Teschmacher) and María Gabriela de Faría (Angela Spica/The Engineer).

And finally, Milly Alcock is likely to have a cameo as Kara/Supergirl, Superman’s cousin, ahead of her own movie debut.

    When is ‘Superman’ in theaters?

Gunn’s ‘Superman’ is scheduled to launch in theaters on July 11, 2025.

    • Warner Bros. showed off its upcoming slate at CinemaCon Tuesday.
    • Movies such as ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ and ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’ were promoted.
    • Talent including George Miller and Todd Phillips took to the stage to show off footage.

Warner Bros. was the first of the major studios to make a big presentation to theater owners at CinemaCon, so naturally it had to kick off by celebrating the box office success enjoyed by ‘Dune: Part Two’, ‘Wonka’, ‘Godzilla x Kong’ and, oh yes… a little movie called ‘Barbie’.

And it was also about looking forward to this year’s offerings, with the executive team dressing in Beetlejuice costumes. Got to love a slightly awkward business type outside of their comfort zone.

Warner Bros. was always going to launch with one of its bigger guns, and there are few bigger than this prequel to ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’.

Director George Miller took the stage alongside his stars Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth. Miller admitted that the movie had only just been finished the week before the presentation –– just in time for its launch at the Cannes Film Festival next month.

Miller explained why ‘Furiosa’ came about: “To tell the story of Mad Max, we had to know where every vehicle, every character, every prop, every gesture came from. We wrote backstories of Furiosa overall these years and Mad Max the year before. When ‘Fury Road’ had enough traction we figured we had to do ‘Furiosa.’”

Taylor-Joy admitted that as a ‘Mad Max’ mega-fan, she was pinching herself every day on set, hardly able to believe she was on set. She called the movie “the story of one woman’s commitment to unrelenting hope,” and we can all use some of that.

Miller, for his part, explained that he cast Taylor-Joy because she’s the type of person he would want to hang out with during the apocalypse. Oh, and that the movie spans roughly 16-18 years of the narrative.

Hemsworth, meanwhile, described his character –– Dr. Dementus –– as “twisted” and “cruel”, but ultimately charming, since he has a following. And let’s be honest: even with a big fake nose, he still mostly looks like Chris Hemsworth!

And this being CinemaCon, there was an extended look at the film, which is suitably dystopian and crazed in the best Miller style.

‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’ will be in theaters on May 24th.

Following Gunn, it was the turn of his DC Studios colleague Peter Safran, who introduced a look at the moving documentary about the career and legacy of Christopher Reeve, who famously played Supes on screen in the Richard Donner movies and beyond.

Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story’ also tracks his time after a riding accident left his paralyzed. The documentary will be in theaters this September. Even the trailer when it arrives may make you tear up.

    Horizon: An American Saga

Kevin Costner for 'Horizon: An American Saga' at CinemaCon 2024.

Kevin Costner took the stage to talk up his ambitious new Western epic ‘Horizon: An American Saga.’

Costner explains that he prefers “Journey Movies” over “Plot Movies,” preferring audiences take a ride with the characters. The first two chapters of ‘Horizon’ covers 12 years of time, starting before the Civil War and through it.

And because two chapters surely isn’t enough, he intends to make two more. He’s hoping audiences will binge the movies in theaters.

Warner Bros. will be releasing the first two chapters of the film series this year. ‘Chapter 1’ moseys in on June 28th, with ‘Chapter 2’ following on August 16th.

    Mickey 17

As the sizzle reel predicted, Bong Joon Ho and Robert Pattinson took the stage to show the trailer for their sci-fi movie, which sees the latter playing a cloned worker in space who takes on dangerous jobs.

Bong explained the movie’s title shift (the source novel is called ‘Mickey 7) –– he’s killed the character an addition 10 times (no word on whether we’ll see them all). And Pattinson plays two versions at once –– including Mickey 18, who decides he should kill his fellow clone.

And the tone of the movie certainly looks to learn towards the dark comedy vibes of ‘Snowpiercer’.

Why did Bong cast Pattinson? “He has a crazy thing in his eyes.”

‘Mickey 17’ appears to be worth waiting for… and we will have to wait until January 31 next year.

While his daughter’s film (‘The Watchers’) had just a trailer, M. Night Shyamalan himself was on stage to preview his next movie, ‘Trap’, his first with Warners.

Using the words “provocative” and “unusual” to describe his latest, Shyamalan explained that cinemagoers will feel like part of the audience attending a concert to see a performance by a singer called Lady Raven. Things take… a dark turn. Twist!

The story involves a father and a daughter attending the concert, only to learn that it’s all been organized as a trap for a local serial killer.

The trailer played, but that one is best left to see for yourself.

‘Trap’ will be sprung in theaters on August 9th.

And, of course, attention now turned to…

    Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

Michael Keaton and director Tim Burton for 'Beetlejuice Beetlejuice' at CinemaCon 2024.

The long-awaited sequel has finally come to life (or is it afterlife?) with Tim Burton back directing and Michael Keaton as the ghost with the most. Jenna Ortega stars alongside Keaton’s fellow veterans including Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara.

Of course, the angle here is heavily on the legacy of Tim Burton, and his commitment to making the new movie as practically as possible.

To big that up, a behind-the-scenes video was shown of filming on both the original and the sequel.

Burton took the stage with some of his cast, including Catherine O’Hara, Justin Theroux, Willem Dafoe, and, of course, Michael Keaton. The director admitted that his original focus was on Lydia Deetz (Ryder), but shifted to the family as a whole, and the different generation of Deetz women. He says the movie feels like a big family reunion.

Keaton kept things low key with his praise for the movie: “It’s really f*****g good. It’s really, really good. Actually, it’s great.”

Justin Theroux, meanwhile, shared that he found the experience “fun” (everyone crossed that out on their bingo card). There was praise for Ortega, who is apparently a natural fit for the story.

And they couldn’t stay too long, as Burton said he’s expected back in London to continue editing the movie itself.

    Joker: Folie À Deux

Director Todd Phillips for 'Joker: Folie à Deux' at CinemaCon 2024.

Co-writer/director Todd Phillips was on stage, thanking cinema chains for supporting the first ‘Joker’ and mentioning “bizarre rumors” about it leading to violence that swirled ahead of its release.

He went on to add that while he called ‘Joker’ a one-off while promoting it, he and Joaquin Phoenix had talked about sequel ideas on set.

As for Lady Gaga, he described her as “magic” and knew from producing ‘A Star is Born’ that she was the right person to star alongside Phoenix.

And though he stopped short of describing the movie as a musical, he did say that it plays an important part. “Arthur has music to him. He has a dance to him.”

    • The film should be shooting later this year.

Things are moving –– or perhaps, given the main character, flying –– ahead for the ‘Supergirl’ movie. At least, if Deadline’s report ends up panning out.

Craig Gillespie, the director behind such movies as ‘I, Tonya’, ‘Cruella’ and, most recently, ‘Dumb Money’, is now in talks to direct the new take on Kara Zor-El for DC Studios.

What is the plan for the Supergirl movie?

While nothing has been formally confirmed, it appears that the Supergirl character (with Milly Alcock of ‘House of the Dragon’ in the part, will first crop up in a cameo in James Gunn’s ‘Superman’.

She’ll then appear in her own movie, which was announced alongside the rest of Gunn and Safran’s plan for the first wave of their new movie/TV universe.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’ will be a big-scale sci-fi film based on Tom King and Bilquis Evely’s comic run.

It would seem that the ‘Woman of Tomorrow’ subtitle has dropped off, but that may return.

Ana Nogueira has been adapting the comic book with some input from King. Aside from her (plus Gunn and Peter Safran producing and DC executive vice president Chantal Nong as executive producer), that’s it for the team so far.

Gillespie brings a lot of experience to the table –– he’s directed several movies with female characters at their heart and is also adept at balancing tone.

When will ‘Supergirl’ be in theaters?

Warner Bros. has yet to lock down a release date for the movie; which is not a bad idea since zero footage exists for it yet. But the plan for production is for ‘Supergirl’ to kick off shooting later this year once Gunn has completed work on ‘Superman’ and the studio’s focus can switch to the other ‘Super’-character.

    • A ‘Teen Titans’ live-action movie is planned for DC Studios.
    • Ana Nogueira has been hired to write the script.
    • We can expect to see the likes of Robin, Kid Flash and more hit screens.

While none of the movies or TV shows in the big announcement made by James Gunn and Peter Safran, the filmmaker/producer duo who run the current incarnation of DC Studios for Warner Bros., have arrived yet (the ‘Creature Commandoes‘ are on their way to TV screens while Gunn’s ‘Superman’ will launch the big screen reboot next year), we’re already to the point where new projects are being, if not officially confirmed, then reported on.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Teen Titans are headed to theaters in live-action form.

    Who are the Teen Titans?

    DC Comic's Teen Titans.
DC Comic’s Teen Titans. Photo: DC Comics.

The characters, usually sidekicks to main heroes, have been a team in DC Comics since their first appearance together in ‘The Brave and the Bold’ title in 1964. Created by Bob Haney and Bruno Premiani, the group has naturally been through different evolutions in their time (they are comic book characters, after all), but the group usually includes some version of Robin (often Damien Wayne), Kid Flash (Wally West), Aqualad as well as Wonder Girl. Other teens such as Speedy, the sidekick to Green Arrow, and Raven joined the adventures later.

They went through a big change in the 1980s, when they started to become much more popular. But they have exploded in status in the last couple of decades mostly thanks to their TV adaptations. ‘Teen Titans Go!’ the animated, comedic and frequently meta take on DC has run for eight seasons on Cartoon Network, airing close to 400 episodes. The series also spawned a feature film, ‘Teen Titans Go! To the Movies’, which was released in theaters in July 2018

And then there’s ‘Titans’, the darker, moodier live-action series that launched in 2018 on DC’s short-lived digital arm DC Universe, before moving to Max and running for four seasons.

The movie is still at far too early a stage for casting to be revealed or even considered. But we can at least hope that a couple of voices/faces from the various TV incarnations at least get to cameo or are referenced in the movie.

And the plan truly is for DC Studios movies to be connected, could we see a brief appearance from whoever ends up playing Batman, set to be introduced in the ‘Brave and the Bold’ adaptation? Wishful thinking, perhaps…

So far, the only people involved are Gunn and Safran, who will produce the new movie.

They, in turn, have recruited writer Ana Nogueira to write the script for the new movie. Nogueira, who kicked off her career acting in the likes of ‘The Vampire Diaries’ and ‘The Michael J. Fox Show’, has been scoring some big writing jobs of late, including the screenplay for ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’, which will star Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El.
