Lopez and Duhamel star as Darcy and Tom, a couple that are having their wedding on a remote tropical island. Trouble begins when Darcy’s ex-boyfriend (Lenny Kravitz) arrives uninvited, and the wedding guests, including their parents, are taken hostage by Pirates. Now, Tom and Darcy must work together to save their guests as well as their wedding day.
Moviefone recently had the pleasure of speaking with Jennifer Coolidge and Cheech Marin about their work on ‘Shotgun Wedding,’ their outragous characters, Coolidge’s gun training, and working with Jennifer Lopez.

Moviefone: To begin with, Jennifer, can you talk about Carol’s overprotective relationship with her son, Tom, and how she feels about his marriage to Darcy?
Jennifer Coolidge: Because Carol has only had sex twice in her life, I think she’s very worried about her son being seduced by a very sexy Darcy. She’s especially blowing it before the wedding. Someone like Carol can’t relate to her sexy in-law, for sure. She can’t relate, so she’s got to shut it down. Pull out the garden hose and get off my lawn!
MF: You really get involved in the action sequences and have a scene where you are firing a machine gun. Was that fun for you to do and what kind of training did you have for that scene?
JC: They were very worried about me with the gun, the production, I think, so I had more gun classes than I could handle. I had many gun classes, so I was ready. I got a gun diploma and everything. I love that they took that much time to make sure that I wouldn’t be dangerous to anybody. How cool is it to be a little James Bond, or some Michelle Yeoh moment, or whatever.

MF: Cheech, can you talk about Robert’s relationship with his girlfriend Harriet, and the drama that it causes when he brings her to his daughter’s wedding?
Cheech Marin: Well, there’s a lot of drama because I play Darcy’s father and I invite her ex-boyfriend, played by Lenny Kravitz, to the ceremony. So, you know stuff’s going to happen right away like, “What the hell did you do that for?” So, it was interesting, but this was a great cast of characters. We all got along really well, and each of us was very different than the other. But to bring your girlfriend to your daughter’s wedding, you know hijinks ensue and you’re going to be surprised.
MF: Finally, what was it like for you working with Jennifer Lopez and playing her dad?
CM: It was wonderful. I mean, she’s a really good actress to work with, and a good producer to work with, who’s acting at the same time. I’ve done both, and it’s a handful, but she was always on her marks and ready to go. She set the mark, and she sang at the Presidential inauguration right before we started. She had legit chops. Because I’m a musician myself, I asked her about that, “What was the makeup of the orchestra?” She said it was very minimal so you could really hear her voice, and she belted it out.

This week’s episode is about to take the prize for least known comic book character to show up on screen, welcome to ‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’ Episode 8, ‘Ribbit and Rip It.’
The episode opens on two guys attempting to steal a TV, with a hero named Leap-Frog, AKA Eugene Patilio (Brandon Stanley) trying to stop them. It’s revealed that he is telling the whole story to Jen (Tatiana Maslany), including that his suit is supposed to be fireproof, but bursts into flames.
He wants “justice and compensation” for the suit messing up, and it’s revealed the creator of the suit is Luke Jacobson (Griffin Matthews), who made Jen’s outfits and her super-suit in episode 5. She explains it’s a conflict of interest, and her boss (Steve Coulter) tells her to make a compromise with him to avoid going to court.
Jen goes to Jacobson and explains that she is there about Leap Frog. The tailor is obviously not happy, and she tries to get him to agree to take some responsibility for the mess up, but he ends up blocking her in the process. “See you in court,” Jen tells him.
In court, Jacobson shows up with no lawyer. The judge asks where he is, and wouldn’t you know it, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) walks in, asking the judge to drop the lawsuit. Jen asks to speak to other clients Jacobson has worked with, but Matt points out superheroes have secret identities and who is she to find those out? So, they call Eugene to the stand.
Leap-Frog reveals that he went against Jacobson’s instructions, and the judge drops the case. Jen attempts to befriend the tailor again, but of course that fails. Cut to Jen at the bar, with Matt Murdock arriving to buy her a drink.
Jen asks why he’s in Los Angeles, and Murdock explains Jacobson made him suits in the past. They go back and forth, and this is the first time we see Jen connecting with someone who is actually interested in both her and She-Hulk. Murdock then mentions how Jen can help people who fail, and She-Hulk can help people that the world fails.
She then turns to the camera, asking “We all feel this here, don’t we?” As Murdock goes to take a call, Jen gets a weird text from the techie with the “She-Hulk fetish.” Murdock goes to leave but says that it was great to meet her.
Jen goes to meet with Todd (Jon Bass), and he explains how he just bought a real spear from Wakanda. Todd claims the country of Wakanda is trying to get the spear back, but then tries to make a move on Jen. She leaves immediately.
As she gets home, Jen gets a call from Eugene. He’s being attacked and needs her help. She agrees and goes to grab the super suit Luke made for her. Jen stops Leap-Frog’s car, and Daredevil flies off the back. He tells her she needs to back off, and the two get into an awesome fight.
Jen puts a stop to him, and removes his helmet, revealing that it’s Matt. She accuses him of not being blind, but he confirms that he is indeed blind, however his other senses are enhanced. They get into a bit of an argument, and Matt reveals that Leap Frog kidnapped Jacobson. While agreeing to help, Jen points out that it’s an easy mistake to think the man dressed as a devil would be the bad guy. “That’s a fair point,” Matt replies.
The two make it to Leap-Frog’s lair, and they strategize outside. It’s obvious the two of them have very different ideas on how to break-in, with Matt pointing out that Jen has never done this before. Daredevil does his job, breaking-in and taking out the men in the hallway.
As he’s surrounded, though, Jen does her Hulk-thing and drops a fantastic “She-Hulk smash” as she crushes the men surrounding him. Once inside, Jen takes the legal route with Eugene while Matt just kicks butt around him, also giving legal advice. Jen then turns to the camera and says, “This guy is really kind of doing it for me.”
They rescue Jacobson, who forgives Jen and agrees to make her dress for the gala. She meets Matt on the rooftop, and he explains why he won’t give a statement to the cops. They thank each other for the help, while flirting a little. Jen asks when he’s going home. He says he’s leaving tomorrow and asks Jen out to dinner next time he’s in town. But Jen has other ideas and we cut to them in her apartment making out.
Matt leaves the next morning, and Jen asks why the audience is still here? She thinks the episode should be over… but Nikki (Ginger Gonzaga) shows up to get Jen ready for the gala. Jen questions the episode being the last before the finale but shrugs it off and attends as She-Hulk, looking gorgeous!
She meets with her parents (Mark Linn-Baker and Tess Malis Kincaid), who are excited to see her. Though, she spots Todd and instantly wants to walk away. At the ceremony, Jen believes at first that she is the winner, but then realizes that all the women nominated actually won. But as she is giving her speech, the HulkKing takes over and broadcasts her private footage. She gives in to her anger and destroys the room. She is stopped outside by gunpoint, ending the episode.
When ‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’ was announced and it was revealed that Charlie Cox would guest star as Daredevil, it was believed he would just be a straight up cameo. But it’s obvious from this one episode that it was far from just a cameo, and rather was an important character for Jen to meet on her journey to becoming a hero.
Having a character such as Jen Walters, one so tied to the “normal versus superhero” life, and a character like Matt Murdock who went through the same thing just makes so much sense. In his own Netflix show, he fought between the normal and the superhero/vigilante life, and his life of fighting crime seemingly took over.
But with Jen, we have the complete opposite. She is trying so hard to make her life as normal as possible, avoiding any of the crazy super-powered nonsense that has seemingly come with her new She-Hulk life. We see this with how Matt interacts with her, teaching her about secret identities, and balancing her own life. He also explains how both Jen and She-Hulk can help people in different ways, not just one or the other.
With both a great guest star and a surprise ending, the next episode is going to be the last and hopefully a great conclusion to an already fantastic series.
We begin by seeing a commercial from Titania (Jameela Jamil), who is using the name “She-Hulk” for her new makeup line, which claims to help bring out the “inner beauty” of people. It’s everywhere; a billboard, commercials, even a pop up. We cut to Jennifer’s (Tatiana Maslany) apartment where her cousin Ched (Nicholas Cirillo) breaks in and asks her to sign boxes of the makeup.
He mentions that not trademarking her name was dumb and explains to her how the law works. Jennifer yells into a pillow in anger. Jennifer and Nikki (Ginger Gonzaga) go to the pop-up, in hopes of confronting Titania. But she just makes fun of Jen, and the lawyers are unable to do anything there.
Back at the office, Jennifer says, “I’m still Jennifer Walters, She-Hulk is just something that happened to me,” and starts naming all the good aspects of being a Hulk. Nikki points out how she’s showing a bit of anger by crushing office equipment.
Nikki is approached by Pug (Josh Segarra) and asked to sit with him on a sneaker drop, for a pair called the “Iron Man 3’s.” She pokes fun at him for collecting shoes that he isn’t going to wear. He mentions a man named Alonzo who can get anything fashion wise, and Nikki asks if he could find clothes for a “superhuman sized person.”
Jennifer is watching Titania thank her fans. “I’m over it. I really am,” she tells the audience.
Nikki and Pug go to where Alonzo sends them, which is a Boba café, not a clothing store. The man who works there goes into the back and invites them in, but it’s really all bootleg Avengers merch. After demanding to see the real superhero designer, Luke Jacobson (Griffin Matthews), they are questioned, and they lie, saying that Titania sent them.
That doesn’t work, and they lie once again and say that the clothes are for an Avenger. Jacobson even calls them out via the camera at his office for being huge dorks and dancing after he agrees to the appointment.
Jennifer is sitting with her boss (Steve Coulter), who asks about the billboards around town with She-Hulk on them. He says that she is the face of their business, and this could destroy everything. He assigns her an attorney, Mallory Book (Renée Elise Goldsberry) and she isn’t exactly happy doing it.
She-Hulk mentions that no other superhero had to trademark their name. Mallory assigns Nikki to help change her look, saying that Jennifer’s current clothing make her look like a football player.
We cut to court, and Book works her butt off to put the judge on their side, providing a killer argument to why Titania messed up in trademarking the name. But Titania’s lawyer pulls out footage of Jennifer saying that she doesn’t like the name, yet Book comes back with more footage, going blow for blow.
The judge agrees to break for a few days, and Nikki takes Jennifer to meet with the clothing designer. She talks Jacobson into helping them, and he asks what superhero thing she does. He explains he makes combat suits, and she tells him that she’s just a lawyer.
Nikki says she needs the suit to fit both Jennifer’s She-Hulk body and her human body, and he agrees to make her something. They go back to the office, and she spots the guy she went on a date with in the last episode who had the “superhero fetish.”
He claims to be a client and asks to reconnect with her, Jennifer very much not wanting that. Jennifer and Nikki discuss the dates she had while being She-Hulk, and she realizes that using the men she went on a date with would help her in court.
Book comes to court with her dating profile, showing how she used She-Hulk to get herself a date. But her dates really help, explaining how she was She-Hulk to them, including Derek (David Otunga) who left her that morning, even admitting he would have never dated Jennifer to begin with.
The judge sides with Jennifer, basically halting Titania’s huge product line. As they walk out, Jennifer jokes that she needs to schedule therapy. But Book stops her, mentioning how Derek looked at her weird after he explained not liking her as a normal human. “You can do better,” Mallory tells her.
Jennifer invites her to drinks as a thank you, and Book jokes how she’s never seen a lawyer embarrass herself in court like that to win a case. Jen laughs about how their friends now and is baffled that she said it out loud. Mallory mentions her clothes before leaving.
She-Hulk goes to see her new suits, and Jacobson pulls out “something extra” for her. He goes to pick up an open box, yelling about client confidentiality. In it, is a gold Daredevil helmet. Episode ends.
Now a lot of people who followed the Netflix ‘Daredevil’ series obviously know why seeing the iconic helmet is so important. It’s been a few years since the streaming service unveiled the beginning of its own Marvel Universe, introducing us to ‘Iron Fist,’ ‘Luke Cage,’ ‘Jessica Jones’ and ‘Daredevil.’
Charlie Cox solidified his role in the dark, gritty and violent series, and his seemingly never-ending fight with Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin became one of the most iconic hero versus villain stories that Marvel had put on screen to that point.

When Disney took back the rights to the franchise and the show was removed from Netflix, fans were worried we’d never get to relive the stories told on the platform. But just this year, Disney+ raised the bar for streaming and released every Netflix MCU show in one day, showing fans they did indeed care for the darker, more grittier series.
With Cox returning to the Matt Murdock role he popularized on Netflix in “She-Hulk”, a new generation of fans who never witnessed the time Marvel paired up with Netflix can appreciate honestly what is one of the best casting decisions made in the universe so far. Plus, we’re getting Cox and D’Onofrio back in the recently announced ‘Daredevil: Born Again.’ Starting production next year.
With the fantastic reveal at the end of this episode, we can only imagine what’s coming next week. Hopefully I’ll see you all there!
