“Power” is officially ending, but executive producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson says not to trip.

The rapper-slash-actor announced via Instagram Thursday that the show’s upcoming sixth season will be its last. He didn’t just have bad news for fans, though. Jackson also shared that there are multiple spinoff series in the works.

“Augs25 starts Season 6 is the final season of POWER,” he wrote. “I have 4 spin off shows coming so don’t trip.”

Starz Programming President Carmi Zlotnik expanded on the news, saying in a statement that Season 6 will close “what we know is just the first chapter of the ‘Power’ story.” He added that Jackson and showrunner Courtney Kemp “have created a world rich with complex and dynamic characters” and they’re going to “continue to explore and expand the ‘Power’ universe.” So far, neither Zlotnik nor Jackson has revealed any directions the spinoffs might take, but at least one is far enough along that writers have been hired, per Deadline’s intel.

For now, we have one more season of the show, and it will be longer than usual, with 15 episodes. Season 6’s stars include Omari Hardwick, Lela Loren, Naturi Naughton, Joseph Sikora, Rotimi, Alani “La La” Anthony, Jerry Ferrara, Shane Johnson, Michael Rainey Jr., Larenz Tate, Evan Handler, Michael J. Ferguson, Monique Gabriela Curnen, and Mike Dopud.

‘American Gods’ Renewed for Third Season, Gets New Showrunner

    Starz

Ready to spend more time with the Gods, old and new?

American Gods,” whose second season finally debuted on Sunday, has been renewed for a third season at Starz.

Charles “Chic” Eglee was announced as the new showrunner, replacing series creators Bryan Fuller and Michael Green and temp showrunner Jesse Alexander.

The major shakeup behind and in front of the camera considerably delayed Season 2 of the show, which is based on Neil Gaiman novel of the same name.

Eglee’s resumé includes “Hemlock Grove,” “The Walking Dead,” “Dexter” and “The Shield.”

Other major changes to the show: Gillian Anderson (who channeled everyone from Lucille Ball to David Bowie as Media) was replaced by Kahyun Kim as New Media.  Kristin Chenoweth, who played the god Easter in the first season, is also no longer on the show.

Season 2 added “Oz” and “John Wick” star  Dean Winters as Mr. Town and Devery Jacobs (of Netflix series “The Order”) as Sam Black Crow.

“I’m thrilled ‘American Gods’ has been renewed for a third season, and even more thrilled that I’m getting to work on it with Chic Eglee,” said Gaiman, who serves as an executive producer, in a statement. “We’ve been working for weeks now on the shape of the season and I’m delighted that he gets to carry the American Gods torch on to glory.”

The show’s most prominent stars, including Ian McShane as Mr. Wednesday, Ricky Whittle as Shadow Moon, Pablo Schreiber as Mad Sweeney,  Yetide Badaki as Bilquis, and Peter Stormare as Czernobog, are still with the show.

“American Gods” airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Starz

    J.K. Simmons in Counterpart

Starz is ready to move on from “Counterpart.”

The show’s creator, Justin Marks, announced that he had “sad news” via Twitter on Monday. He revealed that the premium network had decided not to move forward with a third season of the sci-fi thriller series starring J.K. Simmons.

Starz had originally given the show a two-season pickup, and with its second season nearing its end, it was time to make a decision. The network evidently decided to pull the plug, but it praised Marks and the cast and crew for “[delivering] a beautifully executed series,” per The Hollywood Reporter. Ultimately, the show hasn’t had the viewership the premium network wanted to see. It’s been getting fewer than 500,000 total viewers in the live+3 window, according to THR.

It may not be the end of the road for “Counterpart,” though. Marks tweeted his hope that the studio behind the show, MRC, “can find a way to keep the dream alive.” Fans, of course, liked this idea and began letting networks and streamers know they want more.

For now, there’s the Season 2 finale, which is set to air Sunday, Feb. 17.

A “Power” production assistant died after an accident on the set of the Starz drama.

Pedro Jimenez was fatally struck by a SUV while setting up parking cones around 4:30 a.m. ET Monday for a Brooklyn location shoot. The 63-year-old had worked for the series since it premiered in 2014.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of one of the members of our Power family,” a Starz spokesperson told Deadline. “Our thoughts are with Mr. Jimenez’ family as we work to fully understand what has happened.”

The NYPD is investigating the incident. Deadline reports the driver was a fellow member of the “Power.”

Production has temporarily shut down on the sixth season; it’s unclear when filming will resume.

The series was created by Courtney Kemp and is executive produced  by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson (who also starred). In Season 5, Kanan (50 Cent) was killed in a violent encounter with the police. The finale saw Angela (Lela Loren) shot by Tommy (Joseph Sikora), as a horrified Ghost (Omari Hardwick) looked on.

Starz Unveils ‘American Gods’ Season 2 Premiere Date, Poster

    Starz

“American Gods” will rise again on Starz this spring.

The fantasy series based on Neil Gaiman’s novel will return for a second season on March 10, 2019.

Starz’s official synopsis indicates the stakes are only getting higher in Season 2:

“We were forged in God’s image, but the Gods are also made in ours — and in Season Two the battle moves inexorably toward crisis point as the destinies of gods and men collide. While Mr. World (Crispin Glover) plots revenge for the attack against him in Season One, Shadow (Ricky Whittle) throws in his lot with Wednesday’s (Ian McShane) attempt to convince the Old Gods of the case for full-out war, with Laura (Emily Browning) and Mad Sweeney (Pablo Schreiber) in tow. A council at the House on the Rock explodes into chaos, sending deities both Old and New on quests across America that will converge on Cairo, Illinois: forcing Shadow to carve out a place as a believer in this strange new world of living gods — a dark world where change demands commitment, and faith requires terrible sacrifice.”

The show has experienced some chaos off-screen. Bryan Fuller and Michael Green were replaced as showrunners after writing about half of Season 2’s scripts. They were replaced by Jesse Alexander (who was a writer for Fuller on “Hannibal” and “Star Trek: Discovery”).

Then, in September, Alexander left the show, which was over budget and weeks behind schedule. Key cast members like Gillian Anderson and Kristin Chenoweth bowed out, due to scheduling or possibly dislike of the direction of the show.

Stars Whittle and McShane remain, though, and will be joined this season by Dean Winters (Mr. Town), Devery Jacobs (Sam Black Crow) and Kahyun Kim (New Media).

At the same time, their daughter, Brianna (Sophie Skelton), will be living in the 20th century, where she’ll discover a potential danger to her parents.

When Season 3 ended, the couple had washed ashore in America during their return voyage to Scotland.

As readers of the books know [SPOILERS AHEAD], they head to North Carolina to meet Jamie’s Aunt Jocasta (Maria Doyle Kennedy) at her famed home River Run. There, they’ll run across Native Americans, the rogue Stephen Bonnet (Ed Speelers), and a human skull with … dental fillings that won’t be invented for another 100 years. • Starz Orders ‘Outlander’ Seasons 5 and 6, Releases Season 4 Premiere Date and Photos

“Outlander” will continue its time-traveling, globe-trotting adventures for two more seasons.

Starz has renewed the epic romantic drama for Seasons 5 and 6. The network also scheduled the premiere of Season 4 for November.

Seasons 5 and 6 will be based on the fifth and sixth books in Diana Gabaldon’s bestselling series, “The Fiery Cross” and “A Breath of Snow and Ashes.” They will run for 12 episodes each, the lowest total yet (season 1 consisted of 16 episodes and Seasons 2 and 3 ran for 13 each).

“Outlander” left off on a major turning point for Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan). They’d washed ashore in America after their ship was torn apart during a storm.

Starz released several pictures from the new season, which hint at the new life Claire and Jamie build in America, as well as the growing relationship between their daughter Brianna (Sophie Skelton) and Roger Wakefield (Richard Rankin).
