‘Saved By the Bell’ Cast Reunites to Celebrate 30 Years of Friendship

    NBC

“Saved By the Bell” had a 30-year class reunion.

Several cast members — Mark-Paul Gosselaar (Zack Morris), Tiffani Thiessen (Kelly Kapowski), Mario Lopez (A.C. Slater), and  Elizabeth Berkley (Jessie Spano) — got together for a quadruple dinner date ahead of the show’s 30th anniversary this August.

“This is what 30+ years of friendship looks like,” Gosselaar captioned a photo on Instagram that showed the four actors with their spouses.

Lopez also shared an Instagram video, where he joked about who would pay the dinner check. In a comment, Gosselaar replied, “Thanks for taking care of the bill!”

“Saved By the Bell” ran on NBC from 1989 to 1993 and launched several spinoffs and TV movies. The cast also included Dustin Diamond (Samuel “Screech” Powers) and Lark Voorhies (Lisa Turtle), who weren’t present for the dinner reunion.

The show will celebrate its 30th anniversary on August 9, the day the pilot first aired in 1989.

Mark-Paul Gosselaar Reveals Which ‘Saved By the Bell’ Costar He Used to Date

    NBC

Mark-Paul Gosselaar, while out promoting his new Fox show, “The Passage,” reveals he dated one of his “Saved by the Bell” costars back in the day.

Talking to Anna Faris for her “Unqualified” podcast, he admits he and Elizabeth Berkley were briefly an item.

“You know how it is,” he tells Faris. “When you’re working on a set, and we were young, there’s no one around really. I mean, you work and live in a bubble.”

The romance, however, sounds like it was chaperoned by his mom, who drove him to work every day. (The show began when he was 12 and ended when he was 19.) He shares, “People say, ‘Well didn’t you go out?’ Not really.”

Then again, as he told People back in 2009, “All of us dated at one point or another — it was incestuous.”

Berkley, by the way, recently shared on Instagram that she was (of course) “so excited” for Gosselaar’s new show: “Oh yeah!!! Just driving and who do I see? My dear @mpgosselaar on a billboard for his new show!! Can’t wait!!! #imsoexcited #forreal #proudfriend

“The Passage” premiered on January 14.

Gosselaar still stays in touch with his other “SBYB” costars, including (why not?) beating up Mario Lopez in a jujitsu session. And the duo also shared photos from 1989 and 2019 for a 30-year challenge (in response to the “10-year” challenge.)
