  • John Boyega Got Dating Advice From Robert Downey Jr. and Orlando Bloom

The Olivier Awards 2017 - Red Carpet ArrivalsJohn Boyega is at the center of one of Hollywood’s biggest franchises in “Star Wars,” but the 25-year-old British actor is still learning the ropes when it comes to being a celebrity.

Luckily, he got mentored by a Hollywood veteran — and as a bonus, some advice from another young actor who broke out in a huge franchise.

As Boyega recounted in a GQ interview, he asked his agent to reach out to “Iron Man” star Robert Downey Jr. for a meeting.

“It was time for me to sit down with someone who’s been through the extremes of Hollywood and to be given some tips as to how to stay stable,” he said.

And when Boyega was at Downey’s house for waffles (which Downey didn’t make himself, but “did orchestrate the making of”), he was surprised by a visit from “Lord of the Rings” star Orlando Bloom.

“I’m not used to any of that stuff, hanging out with Iron Man on a day-to-day basis. I was just like, ‘Bloody hell. Is this how the celebrities do?’” Boyega marveled.

He ended up asking the two men for advice on women. Downey has been married for 12 years, while Bloom is just out of a relationship with singer Katy Perry.

Boyega noted his own parents have been together for a quarter century. “

“It’s nice to survive with your companion by your side. I’m sure it’s a good thing. But I’ve never experienced it,” he said. “And people advise you as a celebrity, ‘Make sure you get someone who doesn’t care about your career.’ Mmmm…I disagree.”

Downey and Bloom’s advice: “She has to care about it to understand it.”

Boyega can be seen next in “Detroit,” on August 4, and in “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” on December 15.

  • Robert Downey Jr. Could Be Mark Zuckerberg’s Real Life Jarvis

robert downey jr., iron man, jarvis, mark zuckerbergWhile some of the technology used by Tony Stark in the “Iron Man” films may seem a bit far-fetched (we doubt we’ll be getting the type of suit the superhero sports anytime soon), other innovations are actually closer to attainment than previously thought. That includes Jarvis, the artificial intelligence system that acts as Stark’s personal assistant and confidant. Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg is on a mission to create a Jarvis-style system for his house, and it turns out that none other than Iron Man himself is interested in helping out with the project.

Zuckerberg first announced the challenge earlier this year, when he wrote on Facebook that he was exploring how to code an A.I. system — just like Jarvis, he said — that would help him run his home. The ideal technology would “control everything,” Zuckerberg wrote, including music, lights, heating, and even scanning the faces of guests who ring the doorbell to decipher who to let inside.

On Thursday, the tech giant updated his Facebook followers on the project, writing, “It’s time to give my AI Jarvis a voice.” Commenters suggested a host of famous faces for the gig, including Jarvis voice actor Paul Bettany, “Terminator” star Arnold Schwarzenegger, and upcoming Marvel star Benedict Cumberbatch. Several people threw in their support for the actor behind Tony Stark/Iron Man, Robert Downey Jr. — and then Downey himself replied.

“I’ll do in a heartbeat if Bettany gets paid and donates it to a cause of Cumberbatch’s choosing…that’s the right kind of STRANGE!” the actor wrote.

“This just got real,” Zuckerberg responded.

We’ll have to wait and see if the pair do indeed collaborate on the project, though it certainly seems like a fitting pairing. Make this happen, Zuckerberg. (And please share the final product with the rest of us when it’s done.)

  • Robert Downey Jr. Making HBO Miniseries With ‘True Detective’ Creator

The Cinema Society With Audi & FIJI Host A Screening Of Marvel's "Captain America: Civil War"- ArrivalsAfter more than 15 years away, Robert Downey Jr. is returning to the small screen, though the superstar is making sure this project is just as high-profile as his film work.

True Detective” creator Nic Pizzolatto on a drama series for HBO, though negotiations are still ongoing with the premium cable network. According to the trade, the project in question is an adaptation of classic CBS legal series “Perry Mason,” which follows a defense attorney determined to exonerate his wrongfully accused clients.

Just how Downey plans to reboot the material remains unclear for now, though Variety notes that the actor has been trying to get this project off the ground as a feature film since at least 2011. Those plans never panned out — purportedly due to the disappointing fate of Downey’s other onscreen legal drama, the under-performing “The Judge” — and the project has apparently been in the works at HBO since May.

If this series does come together, it will be a redemption story of sorts for Pizzolatto, whose once celebrated “True Detective” anthology series took a critical drubbing in its second season. HBO has all but cancelled the show (there’s still a very, very slight chance it may return one day), though the network still has faith in the creator, signing Pizzolatto to a development deal earlier this year.

Downey last appeared on television in 2000, when he had a guest stint on another legal series, “Ally McBeal.” No word yet on whether there will be any dancing babies in his version of “Perry Mason.”
