NEW VIDEO ON DIGITAL, DEMAND, AND STREAMING

    ‘Long Shot’ (July 16)

Charlize Theron is in Seth Rogen’s league — at least in this romantic comedy. Rogen plays Fred Flarksy, an unemployed journalist who runs into his childhood crush/babysitter Charlotte Field (Theron), now the Secretary of State. As Charlotte prepares to run for president, she hires Fred as  a speechwriter. Unexpected sparks fly, but their around-the-world romance is threatened by Fred’s past and present indiscretions. Available July 16 on Digital HD.

    NEW ON DVD AND BLU-RAY

    ‘Shazam’ (July 16)

Think “Big” but with superpowers. This joke-filled superhero flick centers on a 14-year-old teen boy who inherits an adult superhero body and powers. When he shouts the word “Shazam!,” Billy (Asher Angel) turns into a buff superhero (Zachary Levi). With the help of best friend Freddy (Jack Dylan Grazer), they have a lot of fun figuring out his new abilities. Oh, and of course use Billy’s adult appearance to score beer.

The movie arrives on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD on July 16 (and is already available on Digital HD). Bonus content includes deleted scenes, gag reel, and exclusive motion comic.

    ‘Breakthrough’ (July 16)

This uplifting faith-based drama stars Chrissy Metz of “This Is Us” as a mother whose adopted son John falls through an icy lake. All hope seems lost as John lies lifeless, but Joyce’s unwavering belief inspires her community to pray for his recovery.

The movie arrives on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD on July 16 (and is already available on Digital HD). Watch a bonus featurette below:

    ‘Teen Spirit’ (July 16)

Elle Fanning stars as Violet, a gifted teen singer who dreams of uprooting her small town life and re-establishing herself as a performer. But she must overcome her shyness if she wishes to find success in the entertainment industry. Under the tutelage of an experienced singer, Violet finds her confidence and voice.

The movie arrives on Blu-ray and DVD on July 16 (and is already available on Digital HD). Bonus content includes audio commentary, making-of featurettes, and music videos.

‘Klute’ (July 16): Jane Fonda’s Oscar-winning performance anchors this 1971 neo-noir crime thriller from director Alan J. Pakula. Criterion’s new 4K restoration of the film brings clarity to the character study, which is part of an informal “paranoia trilogy” along with “The Parallax View” and “All the President’s Men.”

‘The Baker’s Wife’ (July 16): Criterion has a 4K restoration of playwright-turned-auteur Marcel Pagnol’s slice-of-life comedy set in the Provençal countryside he knew intimately. When the titular wife runs off with a handsome shepherd, the baker’s fellow villagers rally together to persuade her back — so he’ll return to making delicious bread.

    ‘Secret Obsession’ (July 18)

Queer Eye Season 4 trailer still
    Netflix/YouTube

The triumphant — and emotional — return of “Queer Eye” is coming up fast.

Netflix released an official Season 4 trailer on Monday ahead of Season 4’s July 19 premiere, and it offers a peak at the Fab Five’s latest work. As usual, they’ll do makeovers and inspire people, meaning we should all probably stock up on tissues. The show’s grooming expert, Jonathan Van Ness, teases in the trailer that viewers will be very moved.

“Try not to cry,” Van Ness says. “Try not to lose it.”

Forget trying to make it through the entire season without crying or losing it, though. Even the trailer — which is less than two minutes long — is packed with scenes that make it hard to keep from tearing up. Watch below.

“Queer Eye” has already been renewed through Season 5. The upcoming fourth season brings back Van Ness, Tan France, Karamo Brown, and Bobby Berk, and the new episodes will be available on Netflix on July 19.

Yasss Queen! ‘Queer Eye’ Renewed for Season 4 and Season 5 on Netflix

    Netflix

Fans of hit Netflix series “Queer Eye,” prepare to let out a jubilant cry of “Yasss Queen!”: The streaming service has renewed the feel-good make-better series for not one, but two additional seasons.

Netflix announced the excellent news on Tuesday, revealing that season 4 of the reality show will once again take place in Kansas City, Missouri, the same setting as “Queer Eye” season three. Season five, meanwhile, will be shot in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. (Seasons one and two were based in Atlanta.)

And the renewal wasn’t even the best part of Netflix’s news: Season four will arrive in just over one month, with new episodes set to debut on the streaming service on July 19. Check out this joyful promo video, and just try to stop yourself from bopping along with the Fab Five.

The guys —  Bobby Berk (interior design), Karamo Brown (culture), Tan France (fashion), Antoni Porowski (food and wine), and Jonathan Van Ness (grooming) — will head to Philly this month to begin production on season five. Those episodes are then set to air sometime in 2020.

Based on the Gritty cameo in the above promo, we’re hoping that the Fab Five will also be providing some assistance to the oddball Flyers mascot. We can’t think of a more appropriate candidate for a make-better.

The upcoming third season of beloved Netflix reality series “Queer Eye” is dropping in less than two weeks, and as an emotional promo for the new batch of episodes promises, “YOU. ARE. NOT. READY.”

In the clip, we meet several of the new subjects set to receive makeovers (a.k.a. “make betters”) from the Fab Five, including a lesbian and a duo — both firsts for the series, which continues to break new ground in each cycle. According to the show’s official Twitter account, season three will be filled with “new heroes, more tears and, of course, ‘holy sh*t’ transformations,” and all those and more are featured prominently in the teaser.

This time around, the action moves from Atlanta to Kansas City, Missouri, though the show’s core message — delivered by the fabulous Tan France, Antoni Porowski, Karamo Brown, Bobby Berk, and Jonathan Van Ness — remains the same: Loving yourself is the greatest transformation of all.

“It took me my whole life to realize it’s beautiful and sexy to, like, care for yourself,” one subject says. “I went from being this lost teenage to being a fierce queen.”

The entire batch of season three episodes of “Queer Eye” drop on Netflix on March 15.

  • ‘Queer Eye’ Star Jonathan Ness Makes an Amazing Bob Ross in Funny New Video

‘Queer Eye’ Star Jonathan Ness Makes an Amazing Bob Ross in Funny New Video

Queer Eye's Jonathan Van Ness as Bob Ross still
    Netflix/YouTube

Bob Ross’s painting show is long since over, but “Queer Eye” star Jonathan Van Ness brought it back — at least, in a way.

The TV personality stars in a new Netflix video that debuted Wednesday, and he picks up the paintbrush in honor of the well-known artist. By doing so, he gave us the “Queer Eye” meets “The Joy of Painting” union we never knew we needed. In the words of the video, Bob, yass.

We can’t pretend that Van Ness’s painting is on the level of Ross’s, but that’s not really the point of the video. As the “Queer Eye” star says, “perfection’s boring.” This isn’t so much a how-to as a wonderful, artistic adventure, featuring happy grass, an ethereal sky, and purple pterodactyls.

    Watch below.

On “Queer Eye,” Van Ness is the grooming expert. He has served in that role for two seasons now, and we’ll see him in Season 3 in 2019. Until then, we’ll take him painting like Bob Ross any day.

  • ‘Queer Eye’ Coming Back For Season 3, Moving to Kansas City

    Queer Eye
    Netflix

Can you believe? Yass, we can. “Queer Eye” is coming back for a third season — and hitting the road.

Netflix ordered a third season of the hit makeover show, which just earned four Emmy nominations. All of the members of the new “Fab Five” will return: Bobby Berk (interior design), Karamo Brown (culture), Tan France (fashion), Antoni Porowski (food and wine), and Jonathan Van Ness (grooming).

They’re leaving Atlanta, where the first two seasons were set, and moving production to Kansas City, Missouri to help a round of Midwesterns to be their best selves. The premiere date is still unknown, though it’s likely to be early 2019.

“Queer Eye,” like its predecessor on Bravo, has become a cultural sensation, with viewers and critics praising its touching and inclusive storylines. At yesterday’s Emmy nominations, the show earned a nod for Outstanding Structured Reality Program as well as casting, cinematography and picture editing.

  • The ‘Queer Eye’ Season 2 Trailer Will Give You All the Feels

The shamazing new trailer for season two of Netflix’s “Queer Eye” is finally here, featuring several firsts for the Fab Five, as well as plenty more of what made season one of the rebooted series so great.

Included in the groundbreaking elements of this new batch of episodes is the series providing makeovers (a.k.a. “make-betters,” as they put it) to both a straight woman and a transgender man for the first time. Or as Bobby says of the former in the trailer, “We’re doin’ a lady!”

“I haven’t done a lady in years,” quips Antoni.

“Personally, I’ve never done a lady,” Bobby replies.

Obviously, based on the above exchange, the show’s signature banter will be back. But so will its big, beating heart, as evidenced by all of the emotion on display in the clip.

“I just want to be visible, and be present, and let everybody know that I’m okay,” explains Skyler, the trans subject, in a tearful heart-to-heart with the guys.

We’re not crying, you’re crying. (Well, okay — we might be crying just a little bit).

All eight episodes of season two of “Queer Eye” hit Netflix on June 15.

  • Rejoice, ‘Queer Eye’ Fans: Season 2 Is Coming to Netflix Next Month

Fans of the rebooted “Queer Eye” series who’ve been desperately awaiting the premiere of season two are in luck: New episodes are set to launch on Netflix next month.

The streaming service revealed the exciting news on social media on Thursday, tweeting out a fun promo video — in the guise of a group text between the new Fab Five — that teased that the show would finally “give the people what they want” (a.k.a., additional episodes). And they’re premiering in a matter of weeks.

“Can you believe?” the promo clip eagerly asks.

Many fans couldn’t, reacting to the news with shock and overwhelming enthusiasm on Twitter. After all, “Queer Eye” only just hit Netflix in February of this year, so new episodes weren’t expected to debut so soon.

But the eight-episode mini season was an instant smash with both critics and viewers alike, making a renewal a no-brainer for Netflix. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the new Fab Five dished about season two — which will also consist of eight episodes — and revealed that the new installments “will break from tradition — hence why ‘for the Straight Guy’ isn’t part of the revival’s title — and feature the show’s first female and first trans male subjects.”

Sounds shamazing. The new episodes will debut on June 15 on Netflix.
