Disney-Pixar has served up a treat before the release of the “Onward” trailer: a new poster and first-look photos.

The photos were unveiled on Wednesday, and the poster followed Thursday. Both show the beautiful fantasy world where the elf protagonists live alongside trolls, sprites, unicorns, and other creatures. The story centers on the Lightfoot brothers, Barley (voiced by Chris Pratt) and Ian (voiced by Tom Holland), two teens whose father died when they were very young.

We’ll see the brothers set out on a quest to see if there is still magic in the world. Their hope is to find it so that they can spend a day with their dad. It remains to be seen if they’ll be successful, but the journey will surely be memorable. The poster shows them enjoying a beautiful night and beautiful sights from the top of a van.

Meanwhile, the photos show a bit more of their story. Their mother (voiced by Julia Louis-Dreyfus) makes an appearance in one, joined by Ian and a fire-breathing creature. In the other, the brothers are on the road, with Ian looking worried and Barley appearing unconcerned.

We’ll get to see even more when the trailer drops Thursday evening during Game 1 of the NBA finals.

“Onward” is scheduled to open March 6.

The new version of the classic ’90s animated film is due out in 50 days, as the movie’s Twitter account reminded fans on Thursday. In celebration, Disney unveiled the 11 posters. It’s like the Mouse House is holding up its characters for all the kingdom to see, just like Rafiki and a new cub.

Simba and Nala have two individual posters each, giving fans the chance to see them as both adult lions and cubs. There are also individual posters for Pumbaa, Timon, Rafiki, Mufasa, Scar, Sarabi, and Zazu. Each poster also highlights the actor who stars as the particular animal character. The star-studded cast includes Donald Glover, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, Seth RogenJames Earl Jones, and more.

First up, the adult versions of Simba (Glover) and Nala (Knowles-Carter) as well as Pumbaa (Rogen), and Timon (Billy Eichner).

Next, there are the posters for Mufasa (Jones), Scar (Chiwetel Ejiofor), Sarabi (Alfre Woodard), and Zazu (John Oliver).

And finally, here are Rafiki (John Kani) and the cub versions of Simba (JD McCrary) and Nala (Shahadi Wright Joseph).

“The Lion King” hits theaters on July 19.

  • ‘Justice League’ Character Posters Star Wonder Woman and More Ahead of New Trailer

The whole of “Justice League” might be greater than the sum of its parts, but even so, its stars got a chance to shine independently in the film’s new character posters.

Teasing a trailer set to be released on Sunday, Warner Bros. unveiled five new posters on Wednesday. They each feature one of the movie’s superheroes, including Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Batman (Ben Affleck), Cyborg (Ray Fisher), The Flash (Ezra Miller), and Aquaman (Jason Momoa). Unfortunately, a poster centering on Superman (Henry Cavill) wasn’t among the group. Still, the posters that were revealed carried the message “all in” and highlighted the forthcoming trailer in accompanying tweets.

As you likely know by now, the upcoming superhero flick stars numerous DCEU superheroes who team up to take on a global threat. We’ll see them have to learn to work together after Diana Prince (Wonder Woman) and Bruce Wayne (Batman) convince them to join forces. Their adventure will be the first of at least two “Justice League” movies.

We’re ready to go “all in” when the film hits theaters on Nov. 17.

  • ‘Mary Poppins Returns’ Poster: People Are Skeptical of Emily Blunt as the Magical Nanny

EE British Academy Film Awards - Red Carpet ArrivalsEverybody’s favorite magical umbrella-toting nanny is coming back, but not everyone is happy about it.

While Disney was sharing its biggest news at the D23 Expo on Saturday, the studio gave fans a look at Emily Blunt as the new Mary Poppins. The initial reveal came via a short teaser for “Mary Poppins Returns” that was screened for attendees. Disney then tweeted a motion poster featuring Blunt, which opened up the door for a all kinds of reactions.

Blunt is taking on a role originally played by Julie Andrews in the original “Mary Poppins,” and those are some big shoes to fill. There was a sizeable contingent on Twitter that was very irritated to see Blunt step in as the beloved nanny.

It may help that the upcoming film isn’t a remake; instead, movie lovers will see grown-up versions of the Banks children encounter the new Mary Poppins. She shows up to help out after a family tragedy.

We’ll see if Blunt can change angry fans’ minds when “Mary Poppins Returns” arrives at Christmas 2018.
