  • The ‘Baywatch’ Movie Gets New Release Date

Change your beach plans: The “Baywatch” movie has a new opening day.

Paramount Pictures has pushed the upcoming movie adaptation of the “Baywatch” TV series back a week, giving it an opening weekend with less stiff competition. Instead of facing off against a host of sequels — “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul,” “Alien: Covenant,” “The Nut Job 2,” and “Annabelle 2” — the action comedy will battle just one (at the time of publishing): the latest in the Pirates of the Caribbean series, “Dead Men Tell No Tales.”

The new “Baywatch” opening will fall on Memorial Day weekend, giving moviegoers the chance to kick off summer with the latest group of lifeguards. Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron, Alexandra Deddario, Kelly Rohrbach, Priyanka Chopra, Jon Bass, and Ilfenesh Hadera are all among the film’s cast, and they will be responsible for carrying the baton of slow-motion running, dealing with complicated relationships, and saving the day.

“Baywatch” opens in theaters on May 26.

  • New ‘Office Christmas Party’ Trailer: Jennifer Aniston, Jason Bateman Partake in Insanity

Bad behavior sometimes emerges at company holiday gatherings, but rarely does it reach the level seen in “Office Christmas Party.”

Paramount Pictures dropped a hilarious new trailer for the comedy today, and it’s full of absolute mayhem. In the preview, we see company CEO Carol (Jennifer Aniston) try to close down the branch where her brother Clay (T.J. Miller) and Chief Technical Officer Josh (Jason Bateman) work, only for her employees to try and save it with a raucous holiday party. They invite a potential client (Courtney B. Vance) in hopes of winning him over with the festivities.

The party has all the ingredients of either epic success or terrible failure: There’s sledding down the stairs, water coolers turned into an open bar, and even swinging from Christmas lights.

The star-studded cast of “Office Christmas Party” also includes Vanessa Bayer, Jillian Bell, Jamie Chung, Rob Corddry, Abbey Lee, Kate McKinnon, Olivia Munn, Karan Soni, and Matt Walsh.

Watch the madness unfold when the film opens on Dec. 9.

  • ‘xXx: Return of Xander Cage’ Trailer: Vin Diesel Is Back to Save the Day

When it’s time to bust out the big guns, you bring in Vin Diesel — just look at the latest trailer for “xXx: Return of Xander Cage.”

The third film in the xXx franchise, the action flick brings back Diesel as the titular government op. This time around, he’s up against “four very dangerous guys” who have gotten their hands on a device that controls every military satellite in the world. He’ll use everything from a skateboard to a motorcycle (in the ocean, no less) to stop them.

As Cage works to “kick some ass, get the girl, and try to look dope” while doing it, there will be no shortage of one-liners, action sequences, and explosions.

Directed by D. J. Caruso, “xXx: Return of Xander Cage” stars Diesel, Deepika Padukone, Donnie Yen, Tony Jaa, Nina Dobrev, Rory McCann, and Samuel L. Jackson. Catch the movie in theaters on Jan. 20.

  • Leonardo DiCaprio to Produce Movie About Volkswagen Diesel Scandal

Leonardo DiCaprio Announces Major New Climate Commitment In NYCNews about Volkswagen’s deceptive diesel emissions broke only a few weeks ago, but Hollywood has already taken notice, and has fast-tracked a flick about the scandal. Now, one of the industry’s hottest stars is set to produce the film.

According to Variety, Leonardo DiCaprio has just signed on to produce the as-yet-untitled project for Paramount Pictures, through his Appian Way company. It’s unclear at this time if DiCaprio also intends to star in the movie, which so far does not have any actors or a director attached.

The flick will be based on a forthcoming book about the scandal written by New York Times journalist Jack Ewing. Variety reports that the book details how Volkswagen “placed illegal software in their clean diesel cars that could tell when a car was being tested for fuel emissions and would turn on the emissions control to cheat the test and meet EPA standards. During normal driving conditions, emission control software was shut off — resulting in as much as 40 times more pollution than allowed by law.”

The scandal has already led to the resignation of Volkswagen’s CEO, Martin Winterkorn. The company is also facing fines of up to $18 billion from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

This film is just the latest high-profile project for DiCaprio’s company, which also produced his Oscar-nominated flick “The Wolf of Wall Street.” There’s been no word yet on a projected release date or production timetable; stay tuned.
