  • ‘Once Upon a Time’ Series Finale to Bring Back Emma, Snow White, Prince Charming

“Once Upon a Time” is ending happily ever after.

When ABC’s fairytale drama ends after seven seasons on May 18, it’ll say goodbye with the original cast members. Showrunners Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis announced today that Jennifer Morrison (Emma), Ginnifer Goodwin (Snow White), Josh Dallas (Prince Charming) and Emilie de Ravin (Belle) will all appear in the two-night series finale.

They join a lineup of already-announced familiar faces returning for the finale, including Jared Gilmore (young Henry) and Sean Maguire (Robin Hood).

Morrison, Goodwin, and the others departed “OUAT” at the end of last season. Season 7 then rebooted the show, centering it on an older version of Henry (Andrew J. West) and remaining stars Lana Parrilla (Regina), Robert Carlyle (Rumplestiltskin), and Colin O’Donoghue (Captain Hook).

Now, the whole gang will be reunited to close the book on “OUAT.”

“Seven years after we set off on this magical journey, we prepare to say goodbye to the cast, crew and writers that made the ‘happily ever after’ that is ‘Once Upon a Time’ possible. We couldn’t think of a more fitting way to say farewell than by reuniting so many of the characters that our fiercely loyal fans spent years with on their adventures,” Kitsis and Horowitz said in a statement.

“We hope everyone joins our ‘Once’ family, old and new, for what we hope will be the sendoff of a lifetime befitting this stellar cast and its incomparable fans.”

(ABC/Dean Buscher)SEAN MAGUIRE, COLIN O'DONOGHUEWhen the story book closes on “Once Upon a Time,” it’ll be one big, happy family reunion.

ABC revealed on the show’s Facebook page that quite a few familiar faces will be returning in one or both of the final two episodes of the fairytale drama. They include: Sean Maguire (Robin Hood), Robbie Kay (Peter Pan), Joanna Garcia (Ariel), Victoria Smurfit (Cruella De Vil), Tony Amendola (Marco), Lee Arenberg (Leroy), and Keegan Tracy (Mother Superior).

It was previously announced that Jared Gilmore (Henry Mills) and Bev Elliott (Granny Lucas) would appear when the series takes a bow after seven seasons.

Last month, when ABC announced “OUAT” was ending, showrunners Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis teased that characters from the past would show up in the finale.

Last year’s Season 6 finale finished the tale of Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison), Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin), and Prince Charming (Josh Dallas). This season introduced an older Henry Mills (Andrew West) as well as new characters and new setting.

“We are not trying to replicate what we did last year. We feel like that was a perfect ender to that book,” Kitsis told Entertainment Weekly.

“We think we are going to wrap up the threads that we have introduced this year, and hopefully give people a big ‘Once’ finale sendoff in the grand traditions of when we do alternate world endings.”

“Once Upon a Time” airs Fridays at 8 p.m. on ABC.

  • ‘Once Upon a Time’ Creators Tease ‘Deeply Romantic’ Rumple and Belle Story

It’s a tale as old as time: A villain is redeemed by a beautiful princess, they marry and have a baby, and live happily ever after … or do they?

When “Once Upon a Time” returns for Season 7 this fall, it does so with Robert Carlyle as a series regular, but not Emilie de Ravin. So, what’s the state of Rumplestiltskin and Belle’s relationship?

The Season 6 finale saw the couple reunited and ready to start a new life with their son, Gideon, who’d reverted back to being a baby.

De Ravin is reprising her role for the fourth episode, which Carlyle told Entertainment Weekly is “a Rumple-centric type episode that will explain to the audience quite a lot about their relationship — actually even from way, way back in the Fairy Tale Land as well.”

He added, “It follows the course of their relationship through the years and it explains … where she is now in terms of her life after Storybrooke.”

Giles Matthey is also guest starring in the episode, which means we’ll see how adult Gideon has turned out.

“The end of season 6 was truly a ‘happy beginning’ for Rumple and Belle and we’re excited to tell what we think is a deeply romantic story about where they go next as both a couple and as parents to Gideon,” executive producers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis said.

In Season 7, which is a bit of a reboot of the series, adult Henry (Andrew J. West) seeks help from his grandfather, adoptive mom Regina (Lana Parrilla), and stepfather Hook (Colin O’Donoghue). They find themselves under the power of a new dark curse in Seattle.

“Once Upon a Time” Season 7 premieres Friday, Oct. 6 on ABC.

  • ‘Once Upon a Time’ Season 7 Adds New Wicked Witch, Brings Back Belle’s Son

'Hounds of Love' Premiere - 2017 Tribeca Film FestivalSomething newly wicked this way comes on “Once Upon a Time” in Season 7.

The ABC fairy tale drama has cast Australian actress Emma Booth (“Glitch”) in a recurring role as a witch who is “as wicked as they come.”

It’s unclear if she’s playing a new version of The Wicked Witch, previously portrayed by Rebecca Mader. Season 7 sees a reboot of “OUAT,” focusing on an adult Henry (Andrew J. West), his daughter Lucy, and new versions of Cinderella, Lady Tremaine, and evil stepsister Drizella.

“OUAT” is also bringing back familiar faces from the past, including Giles Matthey as Gideon, the son of Belle (Emilie de Ravin) and Rumplestiltskin (Robert Carlyle). De Ravin is no longer a series regular, but she will appear in the fourth episode. Matthey will join her.

The last we saw of Gideon, he had redeemed himself from working with the Black Fairy and reverted back to being a baby. But clearly, he grows up again for new adventures.

“Once Upon a Time” Season 7 premieres Friday, Oct. 6.

  • ‘Once Upon a Time’ Creators Explain Season 7’s New Curse

ONCE UPON A TIME - ABC’s "Once Upon A Time" stars Andrew J. West as Henry and Dania Ramirez as Cinderella. (ABC/Eike Schroter)The fairy tale characters of “Once Upon a Time” are going to face a different kind of curse in Season 7, one feared by city dwellers everywhere: gentrification.

“OUAT” creators Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz explained to Entertainment Weekly how Season 7’s new, different curse has affected adult Henry (Andrew J. West), Regina (Lana Parrilla), Hook (Colin O’Donoghue), and Rumplestiltskin (Robert Carlyle).

And it all centers around Lady Tremaine (Gabrielle Anwar), evil stepmother of Cinderella (Dania Ramirez).

“Lady Tremaine doesn’t like Cinderella very much and she’s got an agenda. But there is something broiling beneath that’s personal and painful that is driving all of this,” Horowitz said.

Kitsis added, “She’s somebody who wants to get to the top and will use any means necessary. So why it’s important for her to be royal, why it’s important for her to crush everyone else, is the story of the year. In true ‘Once Upon a Time’ fashion, evil isn’t born, it’s made, and we’ll see that with her as well.”

While Lady Tremaine didn’t necessarily cast the curse, she takes advantage of the its memory-wiping effects as a ruthless urban developer seeking to gentrify Hyperion Heights, where the fairy tale characters live. This way, she can scatter the them to the wind and prevent them from teaming up against her.

“You push them the hell out and you gentrify the neighborhood and you bring in a cold press juicer and they can’t afford it anymore,” Kitsis said, “Then you won’t worry about the Pied Piper finding, you know, Alice [in Wonderland, now played by Rose Reynolds].”

“Once Upon a Time” Season 7 premieres Friday, Oct. 6 at 8 p.m. on aBC.

  • ‘Once Upon a Time’ Clip Brings Tiger Lily to Captain Hook’s ‘Rescue’

ONCE UPON A TIME - "A Wondrous Place" - When Hook finds himself trapped in another realm along with the Nautilus and her crew, he races to return to Emma before Gideon can execute the rest of his plan. In Storybrooke, Regina and Snow take Emma out to get her mind off Hook's disappearance. And in a flashback to Agrabah, Jasmine befriends Ariel, and together they set out to locate Prince Eric as the threat from Jafar intensifies, on "Once Upon a Time," SUNDAY, APRIL 2 (8:00-9:00 p.m. EDT), on The ABC Television Network. (ABC/Jack Rowand)COLIN O'DONOGHUECaptain Hook could really use a friend this week on “Once Upon a Time” — but when a familiar face shows up, is the person friend or foe?

Last we saw Hook (Colin O’Donoghue), he was stranded in Neverland and being chased by the Lost Boys, who are seeking vengeance for his actions against Pan. The Lost Boys aren’t having it, though — but just when they’re about to attack, they’re knocked out with darts shot by Tiger Lily (Sara Tomko). “Didn’t ever expect to see you back on this rock,” she says.

  • ‘Once Upon a Time’ Introducing Captain Nemo With Ties to Hook

"Song Of Lahore" Premiere - 2015 Tribeca Film FestivalCaptain Hook isn’t the only captain on the high seas.

“Once Upon a Time” has cast Faran Tahir (“American Crime,” “Warehouse 13”) in season 6 as Captain Nemo from the Jules Verne tale “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.”

Nemo is described as “the hardened leader of the Nautilus submarine, who’s a zealous believer in a cause that takes him from 20,000 leagues under the sea to the destiny that he won’t let anyone prevent him from achieving.” He also has ties to Captain Hook (Colin O’Donoghue), though whether they are friends or foes is uncertain.

“We’re thrilled to give a ‘Once Upon a Time’ spin to the classic character of Captain Nemo from one of our favorite Disney films, ‘20,000 Leagues Under the Sea,’” executive producers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis said. “We’re excited to see his mythology merge with Storybrooke’s own captain — Hook. If for no other reason than to see the Jolly Roger go up against a submarine.”

Horowitz and Kitsis have previously teased more flashbacks to Hook’s past, so it’s possible that he and Nemo had a run-in on the sea. Or perhaps Nemo is a denizen of the Land of Untold Stories, a new realm seen at the end of last season.

Nemo won’t be the only new character coming to Storybrooke — the show is also introducing Aladdin (Deniz Akdeniz), Princess Jasmine (Karen David), Jafar (Oded Fehr), Morpheus (Giles Matthey), and the Count of Monte Cristo (Craig Horner).

“Once Upon a Time” Season 6 premieres Sunday, Sept. 25 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
