  • ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ Blooper Reel Shows Carrie Fisher Repeatedly Slapping Oscar Isaac

We always appreciate a good blooper reel, and “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” has one.

The silly outtake video was unveiled Wednesday, in coordination with the release of the film on Blu-ray and DVD. It features funny moments involving numerous “Episode VIII” stars, but a scene featuring the late Carrie Fisher as General Leia Organa is the most prominent among them. For the first 35 seconds of the blooper reel, we see her soundly slapping Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) just before demoting him. Poor Isaac is shown being hit in the face at least 40 times in that short span, all while Fisher maintains an absolutely straight face.

Although the slap outtakes fill the bulk of the blooper reel, there are other ones worth watching as well. The stars of the film make some of the strangest and most entertaining faces, and John Boyega shows how seamlessly he slips between accents.

  • ‘Life Itself’ Teaser Reveals Heart-Tugging Drama From ‘This Is Us’ Creator

“This Is Us” may have just ended its second season but don’t put away the tissue box yet. That show’s creator, Dan Fogelman, wrote and directed a new movie called “Life Itself” that looks just as heart-tugging and tear-jerking.

Amazon Studios debuted the first teaser trailer for “Life Itself,” which centers on a couple (Olivia Wilde and Oscar Isaac) course of several decades. It’s a globe-hopping, multi-generational story that is as emotional and sweeping as “This Is Us” fans expect from a Fogelman project.

There’s a single event that ties together the entire story. As Isaac muses, “It’s strange think about, how a completely random moment had shaped my entire life.”

The movie is a star-studded affair featuring Annette Bening, Antonio Banderas, Mandy Patinkin, Olivia Cooke, and Laia Costa. This is Fogelman’s second directorial effort after 2015’s “Danny Collins.” As a writer, he’s worked on the first two “Cars” movies, “Tangled,” “Bolt,” and his breakout, “Crazy Stupid Love.” On the television side, of course, he’s well-known for making everyone cry with “This Is Us.”

“Life Itself” opens in theaters September 21

  • Oscar Isaac Filmed ‘Last Jedi’ and ‘Annihilation’ at Same Time Because He’s Perfect

'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' - PhotocallIs there anything Oscar Isaac can’t do? No, and that includes filming two movies at the same time!

Isaac shot “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” and his newest film “Annihilation” at the same time — sometimes even on the same day! As he told Slashfilm, “I would shoot something in the morning and then have a little bit of down time and then switch it up. So that was wild.”

So, mutiny against Laura Dern’s Admiral Holdo before lunch, tender love scene with Natalie Portman afterward.

Isaac even visited the “Annihilation” set still dressed up as cocky pilot Poe Dameron and used his “Star Wars” trailer since the smaller indie sci-fi movie didn’t have them.

“It reminded me a little of ‘Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure,’ when he’s on the lot and you see all the different actors walking around,” the actor added.

“Annihilation” reunites Isaac with his “Ex Machina” director Alex Garland, who said he was grateful to “Last Jedi” director Rian Johnson and producer Ram Bergman.

“I think because they come from an indie film background, here they are making like the biggest movie of all time, and they were unbelievably helpful and accommodating to us,” Garland said of Isaac’s filming schedule.

“Most big productions would not even dream of doing that. And they went out of their way — whilst making f—ing ‘Star Wars,’ for Christ’s sake – to help this really small movie next door.”
