As production begins on the highly-anticipated sequel to last year’s beloved Netflix rom-com “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before,” the film is continuing to expand its cast. And the newest hire is adding a dash of bromance to the romance.

Netflix revealed on Monday that — no foolin’ — actor Ross Butler (“13 Reasons Why,” “Riverdale”) will be joining the flick, playing Trevor Pike, the best friend of Noah Centineo‘s main love interest character, Peter Kavinsky. Butler and Centineo are good pals off screen, too, and that was part of the appeal in casting Butler, according to filmmakers.

“His real-life friendship with Noah brings a natural chemistry and great rapport to the set and we can’t wait for fans to see this friendship play out onscreen,” said producer Matt  Kaplan, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

Centineo and Butler showed off their excitement over Butler’s casting by doing some spontaneous silly dancing behind the scenes on set. Star Lana Condor (who plays the film’s protagonist, Lara Jean Covey) isn’t entirely impressed, though.

Lara Jean already has plenty on her mind in “To All the Boys 2,” since John Ambrose (the recently-cast Jordan Fisher) is now on the scene to stir things up. We can’t wait to see how this budding love triangle shapes up.

No release date has been announced yet. Stay tuned.

  • Noah Centineo Is ‘The Perfect Date’ in New Netflix Rom-Com Trailer

Noah Centineo Is ‘The Perfect Date’ in New Netflix Rom-Com Trailer

    Netflix

Netflix heard its subscribers’ demand for more rom-coms — and more Noah Centineo — and has delivered on both fronts in “The Perfect Date,” a new film starring the dreamy breakout from “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before.”

In the flick, Centineo plays Brooks, a high schooler poised to attend an Ivy League school — if only he could afford it. Enter Celia (Laura Marano), a straight-talking teen who gets him to pose as her boyfriend in exchange for some quick cash, and plants the idea to start his own dating service.

Brooks creates his own app, allowing potential dates to customize their boyfriend experience to their liking, choosing his personality, his interests, and his clothes, all for a price. But when he finally lands a date with his dream girl (Camila Mendes), he realizes she might not be exactly what he wants after all.

“I’ve been so many people these past few months: A cowboy, an art connoisseur, and a bad friend,” Brooks says. “It’s time to figure out who I am.”

Brooks and audiences will find out the answer when “The Perfect Date” hits Netflix on April 12.

The “Masters of the Universe” reboot seems to have found its He-Man.

Noah Centineo is reportedly poised to play the character portrayed by Dolph Lundgren in the 1987 original. A source tells TheWrap he is in negotiations for the role. The project comes from Sony Pictures and Mattel Films, and per Variety, Sony is keen to have Centineo involved in another project after his work in the upcoming “Charlie’s Angels” reboot. Sony has not commented.

The 1987 film was based on a line of toys from Mattel and starred Lundgren alongside Frank Langella, Meg Foster, James Tolkan, Christina Pickles, Billy Barty, Robert Duncan McNeill, and Courteney Cox. It centered on He-Man’s battle against the evil Skeletor (Langella) in the land of Eternia. The reboot’s script comes from Matt Holloway and Art Marcum, after executive producer David S. Goyer penned an earlier draft. Brothers Aaron and Adam Nee will direct.

He-Man would be another major role for Centineo after he stole millions of hearts with the 2018 Netflix rom-com “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before.” The actor has been cast as in multiple films since then, including “Charlie’s Angels,” “The Perfect Date,” and “Valet.”

Escape Artists’ Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch will produce.

  • ‘To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before’ Sequel: Watch Lana Candor, Noah Centineo Spill ‘Little Secret’

‘To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before’ Sequel: Watch Lana Candor, Noah Centineo Spill ‘Little Secret’

To All the Boys I've Loved Before sequel announcement still
    Netflix/YouTube

P.S. It’s officially official: The “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” sequel is coming.

Earlier in December, Viacom CEO Bob Bakish confirmed the film to Deadline, but Netflix’s big reveal didn’t come until Wednesday, Dec. 19. The wait was worth it, though. The streamer dropped a video announcement featuring stars Lana Condor and Noah Centineo sharing their “little secret” and teasing a new character.

In the announcement, Condor and Centineo appear as themselves, and they video chat to establish a new contract — one that not-so-subtly plugs another Netflix film — before getting into the reveal. Then, there’s an interesting hint: Condor takes a call from an unnamed caller and tells him he’ll make “the perfect John Ambrose.”

Now, fans may remember that name from a post-credits scene. In it, John Ambrose McClaren (Jordan Burtchett) showed up at the Covey family’s door with a letter from Lara Jean (Condor). Between that scene and the latest hint, it seems the sequel will indeed at least loosely follow the trajectory of Jenny Han’s book series. In the second book, “P.S. I Still Love You,” John’s arrival causes problems for Lara Jean and Peter (Centineo).

    Watch the announcement below.

The title and release date for the “To All the Boy I’ve Loved Before” sequel have not yet been announced.

  • ‘To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before’ Sequel Officially Confirmed

‘To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before’ Sequel Officially Confirmed

    Netflix

After winning over millions of fans (including “Stranger Things” star Millie Bobby Brown) earlier this year, devotees of Netflix rom-com “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” have been clamoring for a follow-up to the YA novel adaptation. And now, a sequel has officially been confirmed.

Studio Paramount has just inked a huge new deal with Netflix to produce more original films for the streaming giant, and first on the list is a “To All the Boys” sequel. In an interview with Deadline, Viacom CEO Bob Bakish said that the first flick “is one of the most-viewed films of all time” on Netflix, making greenlighting a follow-up a slam dunk for the company (Viacom is the parent company of Paramount).

While fans would certainly agree, this development wasn’t always a sure thing. As recently as last week, Netflix denied that a sequel was confirmed, and while stars Lana Condor and Noah Centineo said they would absolutely join a follow-up, they’ve also been pretty busy lately lining up other projects.

Thankfully, it looks like the stars are aligning for this delightful soon-to-be-series. Stay tuned for more details as they become available.

  • The Cast of ‘To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before’ Might Be Too Busy for a Sequel

The Cast of ‘To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before’ Might Be Too Busy for a Sequel

    Netflix

The cast of Netflix hit “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” is totally down for a sequel, but there’s a snag: Stars Lana Condor, Noah Centineo, and Janel Parrish are now so in-demand, they might not have time!

Talking to ET, Condor said, “I think there’s a very high chance we’ll get a sequel,” Condor said. “But they better hop on it pretty soon because Noah and I — I’m on [new Syfy series “Deadly Class”]. I’m doing a movie in Romania. He’s doing ‘Charlie’s Angels.’ He’s doing another movie that he just booked. It comes down to availability and I hope they lock us in soon.”

“We all want a sequel,” Condor said, pointing out that Parrish is also busy with “Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists. “They really gotta lock it down, I’m telling ya!” Condor she laughed.

Director Susan Johnson told ET that the cast and key creatives were “all attached contractually” for potential sequels, but that that all depends on if “our schedules all key up.”

Johnson added that she loves that people want a sequel. “I love the fans being vocal about it; the more, the better.”

“To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” star Noah Centineo has more work in the pipeline.

The actor is set to star in the upcoming film “Valet,” THR reports. It’s described as an “action love story” about a valet driver who crosses paths with a government agent, leading to his involvement in a mission centering on an arms dealer. The script was written by Jason Hall (“American Sniper”), while Assaf Bernstein (“Fauda”) is directing.

Centineo saw his star rise this summer when he starred in a pair of Netflix rom-coms, “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” and “Sierra Burgess Is a Loser.” Since then, he’s booked additional roles, including in the upcoming “Charlie’s Angels” reboot. Fans are also hoping he’ll be in a “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” sequel, but in the meantime, we’re sure they’ll be happy to see him in any other movie.

So far, the rest of the “Valet” cast hasn’t been announced, nor has its release date.

  • ‘Charlie’s Angels’ Adds ‘To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before’ Breakout Noah Centineo

‘Charlie’s Angels’ Adds ‘To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before’ Breakout Noah Centineo

    Netflix

The Angels are getting a dreamy new castmate: Actor Noah Centineo has joined the ensemble of the upcoming “Charlie’s Angels” reboot.

Variety reports that Centineo will be playing the love interest of one of the titular trio of women. That’s a fitting role for the actor, who starred as the crush-worthy object of affection in this summer’s delightful Netflix rom-com “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before.”

Centineo’s “To All the Boys” costar Lana Condor already lined up her next high-profile role, so it’s nice to see that her fellow breakout is getting more work, too. Fans of the flick are probably bummed the pair aren’t appearing in a sequel, but it sounds like everyone involved wants to make it happen some day.

In the meantime, Centineo will be in some good company on this latest project. The flick stars Kristen StewartNaomi Scott, and Ella Balinska as the Angels, and recently added fellow heartthrob  Sam Claflin (the “Hunger Games” series) to the cast.

Elizabeth Banks is directing the reboot, and will also co-star as one of three Bosleys. The other two will be played by  Patrick Stewart and Djimon Hounsou.

We’ll keep you updated if anyone else joins this already-sprawling — and incredibly starry — cast. “Charlie’s Angels” is due to debut in theaters on September 27, 2019.

Noah Centineo has rocked our world once again.

The “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” star won our hearts just weeks ago as his character, Peter Kavinsky, and now he has us breathlessly hoping for a sequel announcement. He recently weighed in on the possibility of a follow-up, and he dropped what we hope was a very promising hint.

“I know that everyone who was involved wants there to be a sequel,” he told TheWrap.

Read that again: everyone who was involved. Taken very literally, “everyone” includes the cast, the crew, and all of the big wigs who need to get on board and make it happen. Of course, we don’t know that’s what Centineo meant, but hey, we can hope. We reached out to Netflix and will update if we hear back.

While no sequel has been confirmed at this point, there is definitely material for future movies to draw on. “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” is based on the 2014 YA novel of the same name written by Jenny Han, and it has not one but two sequels, “P.S. I Still Love You” and “Always and Forever, Lara Jean.” On top of that, fans are ready for more, as their tweets show.

There’s even a petition that fans are signing; more than 10,000 people have added their names as of this writing.

While you wait for more news, you can watch Centineo’s TheWrap interview below; talk of a sequel starts at 1:44.

“To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” is now streaming on Netflix.
