At long last, the fourth and final season of “Mr. Robot” is coming, and now we have a first-look image — and a poem. The show’s social media accounts unveiled the image on Thursday, with multiple tweets leading up to it on Wednesday that together form an interesting poem. They tell a story of corruption, crimes, and a brewing revolution.

The tweets are basically a “Mr. Robot” version of the classic Christmas poem “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas,” which is very intentional. The show’s creator, Sam Esmail, previously announced at the Tribeca Film Festival (via Deadline) that the final season of “Mr. Robot” would be “one very long Christmas special that will last about a week over Christmas of 2015.”

    Here’s the full Twitter thread:

The final tweet also includes a website, where fans can presumably dig around for clues. That will help fill the time until “Mr. Robot” Season 4 returns. The show’s premiere isn’t until later this year.

“Mr. Robot” is logging off. USA’s hacker drama will officially end after the previously-announced fourth season.

The final season will have more episodes, with the number upped from eight to 12. Production will begin this winter for a 2019 premiere, which means more than a year will have elapsed since Season 3.

The writing schedule for Season 4 was split into two to accommodate creator Sam Esmail’s work on Amazon’s “Homecoming,” which stars Julia Roberts. But ultimately, and producers decided to enlarge Season 4 and make it the concluding chapter.

The series, which starred Rami Malek as a troubled hacker, represented a major brand shift for USA from its sunnier “Blue Skies” programming to darker shows. “Mr. Robot” received critical acclaim in its first season and Malek won the Emmy for Best Actor in a Drama.

The fourth and final season will bring back Malek (next seen as Freddie Mercury in the big screen Queen biopic “Bohemian Rhapsody), Christian Slater, Portia Doubleday, Carly Chaikin, Martin Walstrom, Grace Gummer, Michael Cristofer and BD Wong.

    In a statement, Esmail said:

When I first created the world of ‘Mr. Robot,’ I thought it would be a niche television series with a small, cult following. Over the past three years, it has become so much more, and I am continually humbled by the show’s recognition and by the amazing cast and crew that work tirelessly to help bring my vision to life.

Since day one, I’ve been building toward one conclusion — and in breaking the next season of ‘Mr. Robot,’ I have decided that conclusion is finally here. Everyone on the creative team, including the amazing people at USA and UCP, didn’t want to say goodbye, but we ultimately have too much respect for Elliot’s journey to extend past its inevitable ending. Therefore, season four will serve as the final chapter of the ‘Mr. Robot’ story. To fans of the show: thank you for the past three years, and I can’t wait to share this exciting final season with you.
