  • The New ‘Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation’ Teaser Is 100% Badass (VIDEO)

Ready or not, here comes Tom Cruise — as IMF agent Ethan Hunt — in the newly dubbed “Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation.” After watching the first, minute-long teaser from the fifth installment of the “Mission: Impossible” franchise, we’re 100% ready for the badass-ness that is to come.

Simon Pegg, Jeremy Renner, and Ving Rhames are back, along with newcomers Rebecca Ferguson — a standout in the trailer, for sure — and Alec Baldwin. This time around, Hunt and team are on a mission to take down The Syndicate, a “rogue nation” (see what they did there?) of operatives doing bad, bad things. Or, as they say in the teaser “the anti-IMF.”

“Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation” hits theaters July 31st. In the meantime, bask in the Tom Cruise-ness of the poster below.mission impossible rogue nation poster

  • ‘Mission: Impossible 5’ on Pause for New Ending

    Mission: Impossible 5
Summer seems so far away, but when you’re working on a blockbuster like “Mission: Impossible 5,” a July release date is closer than it seems. In a curious turn of events, production has halted on the latest Tom Cruise blockbuster so director Christopher McQuarrie and an anonymous writer could work out a new ending. Filming began last September, but hey, there’s no time like the present for some good old brainstorming.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, McQuarrie’s creative partner is “a writer friend whose identity remains a mystery and who will neither be paid nor credited.” Their only reward will be the knowledge that they made Cruise’s “Mission” possible.

This isn’t the first time a studio has pressed paused on an expensive flick, and it’s even possible that “M:I5” will still turn out to be a huge moneymaker. As per THR, Paramount pulled it off with “World War Z,” which proved so successful that a sequel will begin filming in October. It’s highly likely that Cruise’s star power will still pull in mega-bucks around the world, no matter how this “Mission” ends.

  • ‘Mission: Impossible 5’ Release Date Bumped up to Summer 2015

    JAPAN-ENTERTAINMENT-US-FILM
The fifth installment in Tom Cruise’s uber-successful “Mission: Impossible” franchise has had its release date moved up: The flick will now premiere in July, instead of its planned holiday release.

No official reason was given by Paramount for the switch, though perhaps the studio wanted to release the sure-to-be-blockbuster flick in the summer months, when big action movies dominate the box office. It could also want “Mission” to avoid getting swallowed by “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” which opens on December 18, only a week ahead of “M:I 5″‘s original Christmas Day release date. (And is directed by J.J. Abrams, who’s also a producer on “M:I 5.”)

According to TheWrap, “M:I 5” will now go up against the “Point Break” remake, Ryan Reynolds’s sci-fi flick “Self/Less,” and boxing drama “Southpaw,” starring Jake Gyllenhaal and directed by Antoine Fuqua. In exchange for swapping out “Mission,” Paramount has selected the animated film “Monster Trucks” to fill “M:I 5″‘s December 25 slot.

Cruise returns for his fifth outing in the series, re-teaming with his “Jack Reacher” director Christopher McQuarrie on the project. “Mission: Impossible 5” will now arrive in theaters on July 31.
