  • The First Photos From ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ Are Crazy Awesome

Crazy Rich Asians (L-R) HENRY GOLDING, CONSTANCE WU, SONOYA MIZUNOWe were already happy to hear that hilarious “Fresh Off the Boat” star Constance Wu was set to headline her first feature film, “Crazy Rich Asians,” which is due out next year. But now that the first photos from the flick have arrived, we officially can’t wait for the extravagant production to hit theaters.

Entertainment Weekly debuted a bunch of sneak peek images from the feature this week, and based on what we’ve seen, it appears that the movie more than lives up to its name. Just about every image is practically dripping with luxury, featuring grandiose mansions, ridiculously fancy floral arrangements, glittering gold jumpsuits, and an over-the-top wedding gown that probably costs more than most people’s houses.

Nick doesn’t warn her, though, that his family — led by his formidable mother, Eleanor (Michelle Yeoh) — falls into the titular category, and Rachel is suddenly thrust into a world of opulence that is overbearing — and less than welcoming of an outsider.

“Crazy Rich Asians,” directed by John M. Chu (“Now You See Me 2”), also stars Gemma Chan, Sonoya Mizuno, Awkwafina, and Ken Jeong. It’s set for release on August 17, 2018.

  • First Look at ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ Photo Explores the Final Frontier

Beam us up to “Star Trek: Discovery”! CBS All-Access released the first image from the new franchise installment, which is currently filming in Toronto.

The photo features Michelle Yeoh as Captain Philippa Georgiou and Sonequa Martin-Green as First Officer Michael Burnham. The officers of the Starship Shenzhou are depicted exploring a desolate, desert-like landscape: Star Trek Discovery“Discovery” is a prequel to the original “Star Trek” series, which is why Burnham is sporting an old-school flip communicator and what looks like a tricorder on her belt. Neither woman is in uniform, but instead are wearing clothing more appropriate to the planet they are exploring.

In addition to Yeoh and Martin-Green, the cast includes: Jason Isaacs as Captain Lorca; James Frain as Spock’s father, Sarek; Doug Jones as Lt. Saru, a science officer who is part of a new alien spieces to the “Trek”-verse; and Anthony Rapp as Lt. Stamets.

“Star Trek: Discovery” is expected to debut later this on CBS All-Access and air weekly.

  • The First ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ Cast Member Has Been Revealed

Premiere Of Netflix's "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword Of Destiny" - ArrivalsThe USS Discovery is no longer unmanned. Nicholas Meyer has let slip the name of the first “Star Trek: Discovery” cast member: Michelle Yeoh.

“I know Michelle Yeoh is in it,” Meyer, a consulting producer on the series and director of two Stark Trek films, told ComingSoon.net.

He kept the specifics of the actress’ “Discovery” role under wraps, but there’s speculation that Yeoh will be the series’ lead. She’d certainly be a good choice. Yeoh has shown what she can do in a number of films, including the Academy Award-winning movie “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” and its recent sequel, “Sword of Destiny.” It’s easy to imagine her as a lieutenant commander, keeping crew members in line.

Much still isn’t known about “Discovery” — certainly not as much as Trekkies would like — so Yeoh’s casting is especially welcome news. The series is set to premiere in May 2017 on CBS, with all episodes later becoming available exclusively on the network’s streaming service, CBS All Access.
