    • Walt Disney Studios made its presentation to the 2026 CinemaCon crowd.
    • Among the movies promoted were ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’ and ‘The Dog Stars’.
    • And, of course, ‘Avengers: Doomsday’.

Once the all-conquering ruler of the box office, Disney has seen its fortunes take a tumble in the last couple of years, with the likes of Marvel and Pixar movies suffering issues at the box office.

Still, the Mouse House still has quite the line up, with the likes of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ as big hope points.

    aulDnGXPFkuVgP2q8dOyT6

Pixar, meanwhile, has a new ‘Toy Story’ offering, and ‘Star Wars’ is back on the big screen. Plus ‘Moana’ is getting the live-action treatment. Let’s see what the company chooses to spotlight…

Before the lights went down, attendees were given a ‘Mandalorian & Grogu’ popcorn bag and a ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’-branded diet coke.

The typical studio sizzle reel kicked things off, with plenty of Disney highlights and wrapping with riffs on ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ –– the countdown clock that has been part of the promos so far counting down to zero and the caption “Disney will return to CinemaCon.”

There is, of course, a little boasting to de done about last year’s success stories, including a joke about renaming ‘Zootopia 2’ to “Zootopia $1.9 billion”.

With the comedy sequel just a couple of weeks away from release, there wasn’t too much on it, just a quick video message from Anne Hathaway: “20 years later, we are back!” She also thanked theater owners for their support.

But did also cue up some new footage from the movie. Three words: Miranda. Priestly. Zingers.

Surely one of the biggest titles (outside of the MCU) to be showcased here is the return of ‘Star Wars’ to the big screen.

Writer/director Jon Favreau arrived on stage to remark how the opening shot of the original ‘Star Wars’ changed the path of his life, and how there will be plenty of IMAX footage in the new movie. Not to mention a fresh score from composer Ludwig Göransson.

Favreau announced the final trailer for the movie (which you can see above) and also showed the opening sequence, which includes an AT-AT in the snow before we watch Mando (Pedro Pascal) get his next bounty hunting gig.

If you’re wondering whether ‘Star Wars: Starfighter’ got a mention, the answer is yes –– but only in picture form, and nothing we haven’t seen before.

We went from the galaxy far, far away to the Pixar universe, via some ‘Toy Story 5’ footage. This time around, Woody (who has been off helping rescue other toys) and Buzz, along with their friends, must confront a new toy in Bonnie’s life –– a tech gadget called Lily Pad (voiced by Greta Lee).

Tim Allen (Buzz) and Tom Hanks (Woody) strode on stage to talk about their latest animated effort. The pair exchanged light banter, made fun of working off of a teleprompter and gave plenty of love to the Pixar team. They also introduced a new clip from the movie, featuring their characters reuniting.

    ‘Moana’

Next up is Disney’s ongoing effort to convert all of their animated output to live-action movies. ‘Moana’, which was a huge success in cartoon form back in 2016, is back with a mostly new cast, though retained Dwayne Johnson as Maui.

He was on stage to discuss the film and gush about how much Maui means to him and how his performance was inspired by his grandfather. Johnson was joined by Catherine Laga’aia, who plays Moana, and she revealed that she’d done her very first interview for the movie today.

And, as is standard, we got some new footage from the movie.

Next up from the House of Mouse, an original – Ridley Scott‘s latest, ‘The Dog Stars’ Sir Rid himself appeared (on screen) to introduce the post-apocalyptic story, which stars Jacob Elordi, Margaret Qualley and Josh Brolin.

It’s set after the world’s population has been ravaged by a pandemic, and follows Elordi’s Hig, who lives a lonesome existence in a Colorado airplane hangar with his dog and a dour gunman (Brolin) he has befriended. When a mysterious transmission comes through on the radio while he’s flying his old Cessna, it sparks a hunt for the provenance of the sound.

Scott brought the audience first new trailer for the movie, which you can find above, and an early scene.

    ‘Whalefall’

We’re clearly in the “originals” section (okay, both ‘The Dog Stars’ and this are adapted from novels), as ‘Whalefall’ was next.

The movie follows a scuba diver in search of his deceased father’s remains gets swallowed by an 80-foot, 60-ton sperm whale and has only one hour to escape before his oxygen runs out. After giving up on life, the young man is surprised to find a reason to live in the most dangerous and unlikely of places. Oh, and like Ridley Scott’s movie, this also features Josh Brolin.

‘Whalefall’ comes from director Brian Duffield, who previously brought us ‘No One Will Save You’. And the first look at the movie finds the main character, played by Austin Abrams, getting drawn into the mouth of the whale.

Some of the voice cast, including Ray Romano (Manny), Denis Leary (Diego), and Queen Latifah (Ellie) took the stage to introduce the first look at the sixth (count ’em) main movie in the franchise.

We got a look at footage from the beginning of the movie, which features an adorable baby Scratch (the squirrel, in case you forgot).

    ‘Avengers: Doomsday’

Of course Marvel was going to wrap things up with what Disney is hoping will be one of, if not the biggest film of the year. No pressure, then…

Marvel boss Kevin Feige arrived on stage to discuss ‘Doomsday’ and introduce something called ‘Infinity Vision’ which will enhance the viewing experience (read more about that here). He also mentioned that ‘Avengers: Endgame’ will be back in theaters ahead of the new movie.

Feige was joined by directors Joe and Anthony Russo, who talked about how Doctor Doom (played in the new movie, of course, by Robert Downey Jr.) is the best Marvel villain because he’s always three steps ahead.

And then it was the turn of the man himself (RDJ, not Doom), on stage to announce he wants to give away all the spoilers, but isn’t permitted (and anyway, that’s Tom Holland‘s job).

(L to R) Anthony Russo, Robert Downey Jr., Joe Russo, Chris Evans and Kevin Feige, President, Marvel Studios speak during the Walt Disney Studios presentation at Cinemacon 2026 on April 16, 2026 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Photo by Jesse Grant/Getty Images for Disney.

A first proper trailer for ‘Doomsday’ played (lots of X-Men) action, and Chris Evans appeared on stage to admit he was only going to return to the MCU for a good reason (no jokes about dump trucks full of money, please). There was a mock argument between RDJ and Evans about their characters.

The trailer played a second time, and let’s just say this… there was screaming in the audience.

And with that, Disney’s out! Which also marks the end of the studio presentations. Hope you enjoyed our coverage!

Ayelet Zurer stars in Marvel Television’s ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 2.

Moviefone recently had a chance to speak with actress Ayelet Zurer about her work on ‘Daredevil: Born Again’, Vanessa’s death, leaving the show, what playing the character has meant to her, Vanessa’s relationship with Wilson, what will happen to him now that she is gone, working with Vincent D’Onofrio and the rest of the cast, the reaction from the fans, and if we might see the actress appear in a flashback in the future.

Moviefone: To begin with, when did you learn of Vanessa’s death and what was it like filming her final scenes?

Ayelet Zurer: I got some calls. I was parking my car, and I got a call from Dario (Scardapane) first and then Vincent. We discussed and they wanted me to know where the season is going and how they’re going to take it. It was brutal at first, but at the same time, I really understood why they needed it to really pull all the guns and make this season explosive, and they succeeded. Then, through the season, we had a lot of emotions because we knew every single scene will be maybe the last scene doing that, and we’ll never have that again. So, it was emotional in some ways, and I think it gave another layer to the whole thing. Then obviously, the last two episodes were brutal. It was fun but I was so emotional.

MF: What has it meant to you personally to be a part of this series and to play this character and what are you going to miss most about playing Vanessa?

AZ: I really love her journey, I have to say. I love the journey from ‘Daredevil’ the Netflix show where she’s just a person who’s meeting this man and falling in love with that extremist and saying to him that she’s intrigued by his brutality. Moving away from it, but then moving back into it, and then committing to it, and them having that deal of loyalty for truth, which keeps them together. Then lending that into season 1 of ‘Born Again’, where she’s the boss, she’s matured into that part, and she is now that seasoned woman who’s running the show. Also, the emotional complication between them because he left and what does that mean, loyalty for truth? Because that’s always been the theme for them. Then into this season where she’s realizing that she might not be enough and nothing will be enough for him, really. Power is never enough. Control is not going to be enough. So, I think something breaks inside of her, but at the same time, she’s staying loyal and very protective of him all the way until coming to where she’s not invited to be, to take aim, and to possibly take the bullet. She’s not taking a bullet, but she’s taking something else and going down. So, I think the arc of it all really plays so well and it’s just such a beautiful character, I think. It’s very poetic in my perspective and I’m happy for completion. It’s completed with a bow on top.

MF: Can you talk about Wilson and Vanessa’s relationship, and now that there is no one to hold him back, what do you think the future of New York City will look like with Fisk as Mayor without Vanessa by his side?

AZ: Brutal. He’s going to explode, for sure. I think the audience will be expecting that to happen. I think in a way, subconsciously, because Vincent is playing big, and is large, and he’s also energetically big, and Vanessa is constrained. Her energy is very centered, and that together was balancing each other. So now, one power without the other to balance it is going to be explosive.

MF: What has it been like working with Vincent D’Onofrio to create their relationship on screen?

AZ: I mean, I love him to death. He is a friend. I think we created a relationship/friendship that is similar in some ways to the relationship of our characters in the sense that we have this loyalty and he’s always very protective of me. No matter what was going on. If there was a need for protection, he was always there. So, I will always remember that when thinking of him. I also think he’s a phenomenal actor. We worked well together. I think our chemistry together was profound and became easier with the years. It was so smooth, the listening and the reaction. It was great. I’m going to miss that.

MF: In addition to Vincent and of course Charlie, you also got to work with new cast members Lili Taylor and Matthew Lillard this season. What was it like for you to have scenes with them?

AZ: It was amazing. Lily is amazing. First, she’s brilliant. She’s funny, she’s smart, and she’s everything you would expect her to be. I think she’s a great casting in that specific role. Of course, Charlie has been doing an amazing job on this show, making it so real, down to earth, and so connected. Both Charlie and Vincent were always on top of the writing as well. They were always contributing, so I think that’s also something that’s really elevated the show in a way. I mean, everything is elevating the show. You have an amazing cast on that show, you really do.

MF: While being very entertaining, the show also deals with some serious subject matter. What has it been like for you to have a chance to explore some of those themes in this series?

AZ: Yes, the themes are interesting. The themes of what is good and what is bad? The mask you wear in life, and when you take off the mask, who are you? Faith, and love, I mean, it’s endless. I think it’s a beautifully poetic show in that sense.

MF: What has your experience been like starring on a Marvel series and were you surprised by the fan’s reaction to the show?

AZ: Wow, the fan reaction is amazing. I’ve never seen something so intensely loyal from the fans. It’s so interesting to see. I’ve never done this thing where you watch people watch the show. It’s kind of mind boggling, but I sort of became addicted to that because I am so intrigued by how they perceive certain things. So, I watch that sometimes and it’s so interesting. To be honest, the fans brought the show back in a way. They did. I mean, I will never forget the massive posters in New York saying, “Bring back ‘Daredevil’.” I think that loyalty is an outcome of a good show that really deals with some intriguing themes regarding humanity. But also knows how to have fun at the same time. It’s like the action is entertaining. It’s beautifully shot. The cinematographers and the directors on that shows are so talented. I’m going to miss this whole thing.

MF: Finally, now that Vanessa is gone, does that mean you will never appear on the show again or is there a chance you could return in a flashback some day?

AZ: I think the fans must ask for that. It comes down to that, really. But you never know.

Given that it was seemingly unceremoniously released in one batch on Disney+ back in January and didn’t seem to spur that much pop cultural awareness despite strong reviews, Marvel’s ‘Wonder Man’ series has scored a welcome second season renewal.

The show, which stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Ben Kingsley and took a very different approach to superhero storytelling (more on that below), becomes one of the few Marvel Cinematic Universe series to land a second season, following the likes of ‘Loki’ and ‘Daredevil: Born Again.’

Arriving on Disney+ on March 11 with the first episode of its second season (with the remaining seven arriving weekly) is ‘Daredevil: Born Again’, which brings back lawyer Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) has he battles the powerful Wilson “Kingpin” Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio), who is ruling New York as mayor with an iron fist.

The first season of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ was a largely successful attempt to fully incorporate Daredevil and his nemesis Wilson Fisk into the MCU with their own storyline. Though it suffered from some very apparent seams as the behind-the-scenes team attempted to rescue an unsuccessful first effort with new material, it still provided some superior entertainment.

The second season doesn’t have the same collision of creative vision, but it does have its own challenges.

    Script and Direction

Dario Scardapane takes full control of the season this year, and is clearly happy to be unleashed. The action is brutal in places, the dialogue often crackles and the storyline is much smoother.

Still, there are issues: at times the momentum lags, and not every plotline outside of the main clash between our central hero and villain works.

Directorially, with Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead leading the team, the show still looks great, with moody scenes, excellent fights and some inventive connective tissue (such as a series of videos mocking Fisk).

Cox and D’Onofrio know exactly what they’re doing at this point, and if the script doesn’t always keep up with them, they make the most of their material.

Outside of them, the likes of Deborah Ann Woll, Genneya Walton and particularly new guest star Matthew Lillard are all strong, Lillard in particular excellent as the mysterious Mr. Charles, who is by turns funny and threatening.

The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen may not have worked out all of his issues, but the second run of ‘Born Again’ certainly offers enough to please fans of the character. And with Season 3 already shooting, we know more will be on the way.

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 2 receives 72 out of 100.

Mayor Wilson Fisk crushes New York City underfoot as he hunts down public enemy number one, the Hell’s Kitchen vigilante known as Daredevil.

But, beneath the horned mask, Matt Murdock will try to fight back from the shadows to tear down the Kingpin’s corrupt empire and redeem his home. Resist. Rebel. Rebuild.

Simon Williams is one of the lesser known Marvel characters. He is not Iron Man, Captain America, or even Hawkeye. So to focus a series on him comes with a little bit of risk from the studio. That said, this is the perfect series to allow Marvel to embrace their comedic side. Simon Williams is an actor, which means that ‘Wonder Man’ gets to dive into a metaness that industry folks, and Marvel fans, will enjoy.

Directors Destin Daniel Cretton and James Ponsoldt know exactly what they are doing with a show like this. Those who work in the industry will love all of the references to the audition process, crafty, and what goes on behind the camera.

The story itself is intriguing from the start, and only gets better the longer it goes on. While there are some things that could be fine tuned, the overall pacing and timing of reveals is brilliant.

What is best described as this season’s standalone episode, episode four, tells a much needed backstory that helps bring clarity to the second half of the season. With exciting guest stars and a dark, twisted, premise, it stands out as the best of the season.

The reason this series works as well as it does is because of the unmatched chemistry between the leads, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Sir Ben Kingsley. They bring both humor and heart to the roles, and the relationship of their character, making it easy for viewers to root for them.

Arian Moayed’s Agent P. Cleary is the perfect villain for a series like this. Fans have seen him time and again in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but he is truly allowed time to shine in ‘Wonder Man’.

‘Wonder Man’ will surely be enjoyed more by those who know the ins and outs of the industry, but it is not written in a way that will alienate viewers who are not a part of it. Thanks to the great chemistry between the leads and smart writing, this fast-paced sitcom is absolutely worth checking out.

What’s the plot of ‘Wonder Man’?

Aspiring Hollywood actor Simon Williams is struggling to get his career off the ground. During a chance meeting with Trevor Slattery, an actor whose biggest roles may be well behind him, Simon learns legendary director Von Kovak is remaking the superhero film ‘Wonder Man’. These two actors at opposite ends of their careers doggedly pursue life-changing roles in this film as audiences get a peek behind the curtain of the entertainment industry.

And now, in the first teaser for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ that showed attached to ‘Avatar: Fire & Ash,’ Rogers is seen (see more on the brief footage below), pointing to him playing a role in the next movie (and possibly ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’).

    • Ryan Coogler has confirmed he’ll direct ‘Black Panther 3’ as his next movie.
    • The story is being kept secret.
    • Denzel Washington reportedly has a role.

Having taken a break from his stint in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to make something original via ‘Sinners,’ writer/director Ryan Coogler has confirmed he’s ready to return to the world of Wakanda.

Coogler, who has so far brought us the hugely successful first movie 2018, 2022 follow-up ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ plus TV spin-offs ‘Ironheart’ and ‘Eyes of Wakanda’ has said for a while he’d return to the MCU once he’d been able to creatively recharge, and ‘Sinners’ provided that opportunity.

    CKADSUBv2bw7WoJvzJ6pa4

Now on the awards press circuit for his latest, Coogler told the audience at a recent Deadline event that he’s officially developing his new ‘Panther’ offering:

“If it was anybody but you, I would say, ‘I can neither confirm or deny.’ But we’re working on it hard. … Yeah, it’s the next movie.”

What’s the story of ‘Black Panther 3’?

'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever' director Ryan Coogler.
‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ director Ryan Coogler.

Coogler didn’t so much as hint at anything that the new movie might cover. But there are hints all over ‘Wakanda Forever,’ including Letitia Wright’s Shuri taking over the Black Panther duties following the death of T’Challa (a plot move that also followed the tragic real-life death of actor Chadwick Boseman).

We may see a time jump to see T’Challa’s son take on the mantle, but whatever Coogler has up his sleeve, we trust him to deliver something spectacular and emotional.

Will Denzel Washington be in ‘Black Panther 3’?

According to the actor, who commented a while ago that Coogler was writing him a role in the movie, that’s a yes!

This was his comment last year:

“At this point in my career, I’m only interested in working with the best, I don’t know how many more films I will make, probably not that many. I want to do things that I haven’t done. I played Othello at 22, I’m now going to play it at 70. After that, I’m playing Hannibal. After that, I’ve been talking with Steve McQueen about a film. After that, Ryan Coogler is writing a part for me in the next ‘Black Panther.’ ”

Will it turn out to be true? We’ll have to wait and see, but the idea of Washington showing up as a new antagonist (or, indeed anything he wants to do) is certainly one to ponder.

When will ‘Black Panther 3’ be in theaters?

With Coogler still in development on the movie and Disney/Marvel’s release schedule full for the next couple of years, we wouldn’t expect it much before early 2028. And let’s be honest: don’t you want Coogler to have all the time he needs to make the next movie great?

    • Vincent D’Onofrio is also expected to be back as the Kingpin.

Despite a troubled development process, which included scrapping footage and hiring a new showrunner, the Marvel/Disney+ series ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ arrived to praise and solid viewing figures this past March.

    UPLl9v8DcuODJ0OGYMYxF3

The show, which saw the return of Charlie Cox as superpowered blind lawyer Matt Murdock (who also battles crime as costumed vigilante Daredevil) and Vincent D’Onofrio as powerful crime figure Wilson “Kingpin” Fisk effectively continued the story from the Netflix ‘Daredevil’ series, albeit this time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Despite comments from Cox in July (see more on that below), Brad Winderbaum, head of streaming, television and animation at Marvel Studios, confirmed the third season renewal in an interview with IGN.

‘Born Again’ follows Fisk who goes from being a gangster to a NYC autocrat mayor. Matt falls in love with therapist Heather Glenn (Margarita Levieva), but she winds up becoming an ally in the Fisk administration.

Season 2 will see the return of Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones character. Also in the Season 1 finale, Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle/Punisher returned and, in the very end, broke out of Fisk’s Red Hook jail.

In addition to the next two batches of Daredevil, the Punisher character will appear in his own one-off special co-written by and starring Bernthal and directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green. It’s been shot but has yet to confirm a premiere date.

What did Cox and D’Onofrio say about the chances of a third season?

While a second season had already been ordered (and shot for a 2026 launch), Cox in a statement at GalaxyCon seemed to indicate that it would serve as the final season.

Yet that was reportedly taken out of context and for his part, D’Onofrio took to social media to say:

“Good chance there will be a third [season].”

When will ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 3 be on screens?

While Season 2 is due next year, Season 3 won’t shoot until around the same time, so we can expect it to launch in early 2027.

According to Deadline’s reporting on the accident, Holland was performing a stunt and had a fall. He was taken to a local hospital and examined but not admitted, with instructions to rest and recuperate.

Since the movie’s shooting schedule included a lot with Holland (naturally), director Destin Daniel Cretton and the Marvel team have opted to shut down shooting for a week to let the actor get better.

Even with Peter’s changed situation, the likes of MJ (Zendaya) and Ned (Jacob Batalon) are still likely to return.

Yet with ‘Stranger Things’ Sadie Sink’s casting earlier this year, that throws an interesting wrinkle in –– what if the plan is for MJ and Ned to have smaller roles while a new supporting cast rises to importance in Peter’s life?

Sink’s role being kept under wraps, and the studio will look to have it that way as long as possible.

Elsewhere, ‘The Bear’s Liza Colón-Zayas has also scored a role in the movie, but her character is also a mystery for now.

Jon Bernthal will be showing up as Frank Castle/The Punisher, after most recently being seen in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’.

Mark Ruffalo is back as the Hulk –– we’d guess in his Smart Hulk persona, which blends Bruce Banner with the Big Green Guy.

Finally, Michael Mando, the ‘Better Call Saul’ actor who cropped up in ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ as Mac Gargan, the civilian version of Spidey villain Scorpion is also back, so he’ll presumably be causing problems.

When will ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ be in theaters?

While you might think a production pause could have a knock-on effect to the movie’s release, we’re told that’s not the case and it’s on track to still arrive on July 31st, 2026.
