  • Conan O’Brien Crashed a ‘Magic Mike XXL’ Girls Night – and It Was Glorious

The petition for “Magic Conan” starts now!

If you think about it, a midnight showing of “Magic Mike XXL” might be a good place for a guy to find a date. Not that Conan O’Brien was going that route — even though the married man did take off his shirt and gyrate repeatedly for his assistant and her friends. He said the “Conan” staff were freaking out over the release of the “Magic Mike” sequel, so he decided to investigate by crashing a “girls night” midnight showing.

You have to watch it all play out in his 9 minute video, below.

All the ladies met at his assistant’s apartment so, in the dead of night, Conan led cameras to her door. “It’s like an episode of ‘COPS,’” he said, “only instead of arresting murderers I’m just hanging out with some women and seeing a movie.” He proceeded to make fun of their celeb crushes (Channing Tatum and Joe Manganiello), while pointing out that has has met those celebs. The conversation — consider it foreplay before the film — also included this question from Conan: “Raise your hand if you’d like if it you saw a penis. Be honest.” The whole size discussion was hilarious. Then Conan, clearly feeling the need to showcase his own masculinity, did some shirtless “Magic Mike” moves. Strangely, no one made the “woo!” noise for that, they just laughed and hid their faces.

At the theater, all the women in line chanted “Magic Mike!” so Conan did a little dance for them. Just watch and enjoy. Whatever you do, don’t miss the very end for a special cameo:

  • ‘Inside Out’ Just Beat Up ‘Terminator’ and ‘Magic Mike’ at the Box Office

Hasta la vista, tough guys! As we approach the July 4th holiday weekend, Hollywood is keeping a close watch on the five-day domestic box office. “Magic Mike XXL” and “Terminator Genisys” just opened, but they were both beat on Thursday by Disney/Pixar’s “Inside Out” and also the dino-mite power of “Jurassic World.”

According to Variety, “Inside Out” earned $7.7 million on July 2, making its North American total, to date, $216.1 million. “Jurassic World” was not too far behind with $6.9 million, adding to its whopping $527.2 million domestic total.

“Terminator Genisys” was right on the dinosaur’s tail, earning $6.5 million to give it a $15.4 million domestic total so far. The “Magic Mike” sequel only had $5.7 million, giving it just over $15 million so far, but since that one only cost about $14.8 million to make, it’s not that big a deal if it doesn’t have a huge opening weekend. “Terminator,” though. That one cost around $155 million and Variety said it’s on pace to fall $10 million short of the $55 million goal the studio had for the five-day opening weekend (Wednesday-Sunday). However, the “Terminator” reboot should get a boost overseas, and it’s about to open in 60 percent of international markets over the weekend, so don’t cry too hard for Arnold Schwarzenegger. Yet.

Are you surprised that “Inside Out” and “Jurassic World” still seem to be more popular than “Terminator” and “Magic Mike” or does that just make sense, since family friendly films reach a wider audience?

  • 25 Fictional Strippers of TV and Film, Ranked From Worst to Best

    %Slideshow-300920%
Get out those dollar dollar bills, y’all. It’s time to look back at some strippers — ahem, exotic dancers — from cinematic and small screen history. Actors and actresses have been takin’ it all off for the sake of their art for decades now, but which ones deserve the cash in their g-strings? Based on very unscientific criteria such as hip-shakability, pole dexterity, energy, and charisma, we’ve ranked 25 fictional strippers of TV and film. Go ahead and check ’em out. Clear heels, full pockets, CAN’T LOSE.

  • Elizabeth Banks Wants Some Sugar From Channing Tatum in ‘Magic Mike XXL’ Clip

Magic Mike XXLThe men of “Magic Mike XXL” are ready to show us a little … um, magic … but only if they can satisfy Elizabeth Banks.

Warner Bros. released a clip from the stripper movie, and sadly, it features nary a shirtless guy. No pelvic thrusts. No body rolls. (Sob!) Instead, the clip is all business, as Mike (Channing Tatum), Big Dick Richie (Joe Manganiello), and crew roll up to a stripping convention run by Banks, hoping to get some showtime.

“Are you even in shape?” she wonders, noting Mike’s been out of the game for awhile. And do they have the most important thing — an MC?

We’re always happy to see Banks in anything, and it’s fun to see her playing a slightly trashy, bleached blonde. But come on, “Magic Mike XXL,” you couldn’t throw us an (ab) bone? Just a peek?

“Magic Mike XXL” also stars Matt Bomer, Adam Rodriguez, Amber Heard, and Jada Pinkett Smith, and opens in theaters July 1.

  • Best of Late Night TV: Conan’s Clueless Gamer Team Edition, Worst First Textual Experience

If you’re like us and value your sleep, you probably nodded off into your Ambien dreamland before the party started on post-prime time TV. Don’t worry; we’ve got you covered. Here’s the best of what happened last night on late night.

Silicon Valley,” and they played “Halo 5: Guardians.” Prepare for 9 minutes of hilarity. “I don’t see anybody! I’m like my father at night looking for Fig Newtons. I’m just wandering around.” Poor Conan.
This will make you LOL too. Aziz Ansari was on “The Tonight Show” to promote his book, “Modern Romance: An Investigation,” and he and Jimmy Fallon chatted about embarrassing first text messages between guys and girls. Aziz said most dudes just send stupid things, and they shared proof when reading off viewer-submitted worst first texts in a new segment called “First Textual Experience.” It’s hard to believe that some of these are real, but Jimmy said they’re all 100 percent. The “HORROR”! “Jimmy Kimmel Live” had a repeat Monday night, but on Sunday Jimmy hosted the cast of “Magic Mike XXL” on Game Night, so let’s just review that magic. Jimmy reminded everyone that their porn name is their pet and the street they grew up on, so Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Kevin Nash, and Adam Rodriguez revealed their names. Matt said his porn name, Dixie Eunice, is going to be the name of their next film, “starring Caitlyn Jenner and I.” The crowd loved it — and said they would watch that movie. Laura Prepon was on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” Monday night and said they started filming “Orange Is the New Black” Season 4 that day. Woo hoo! Since Season 3 was just released, Laura caught fans up on the status of her character, Alex, up to that point and gave some Season 3 teases. Laura also shared photos of fans’ tattoos, inspired by her and her character. Martha Stewart was also on Seth’s show and you should listen to her talk about her stint on Justin Bieber’s roast. She said she got high just sitting next to Snoop Dogg, from the secondary smoke. Melora Hardin, Amy Landecker, and Jack Antonoff were on “The Late Late Show with James Corden,” and even if you have no clue who those people are, they had a good time. Amy and Melora discussed the lesbian scenes in their show “Transparent.” Apparently one of them crossed the line with the other with a certain move. Jack just sat there taking it all in. This is adorable, though. James Corden and Jack Antonoff — of the band fun. — sat down with 11-year-old Owen Roberts, writer of the song “Magic Pancakes,” for a “Behind the Music” segment. “Is it actually a song about the American election?” “No, I just really like pancakes.” Then they performed the song in a big debut, along with Reggie Watts and the “Late Late Show” band. It’s a pretty good jam! And now we want pancakes. Just to end on a depressing note, James tackled the concept of spoilers and discussed the death (for now) of Jon Snow on “Game of Thrones.” He thinks we’re all crazy to get upset. “The show’s about dragons and incest. Like, who thought it was going to end well?”

  • Channing Tatum & ‘Magic Mike XXL’ Cast Dance at L.A. Pride Parade

The Los Angeles Pride Parade attracted some major talent this weekend, but one float in particular had everyone talking.

Channing Tatum and his “Magic Mike XXL” costars Matt Bomer and Adam Rodriguez — joined by a bevy of attractive males — rode a giant float decked out in promotional materials for the upcoming sequel to the male stripper flick. Tatum was also sporting a rainbow flag bandana and wristband for the occasion.

But as soon as Ginuwine’s “Pony” began to play — a signature song for the “Magic Mike” franchise — things really heated up, as Tatum and co. began to gyrate with the music, putting on quite the show for the excited onlookers at the event. (A special shout-out to the gentleman on his knees, rippling his stomach to the beat. Yowza.)

This is just the latest publicity stunt for the flick, which has also promoted itself through a surprise lap-dance performance for a group of fans (led by a disguised Tatum). We’re eager to see what else the marketing team has up its sleeve as the countdown to film’s debut continues.

Check out some video of the parade performance, and a few more photos, below. “Magic Mike XXL” dances into theaters on July 1.

  • Disguised Channing Tatum Pranks Fans at ‘Magic Mike XXL’ Screening

26th Annual GLAAD Media Awards - ArrivalsThe old adage “never judge a book by its cover” came into play for a group of “Magic Mike” fans during a recent screening of the flick’s sequel, when star Channing Tatum donned a disguise to prank the unsuspecting filmgoers.

In a video posted to his Facebook page in support of an Omaze campaign, Tatum sat in a makeup chair and transformed into “Scott,” a balding, bearded, bespectacled marketing rep for studio Warner Bros. Adopting a southern drawl, Tatum asked attendees at a “Magic Mike XXL” screening a series of ridiculous questions about the first flick, ranging from which parts they wished had been in 3D (“The pelvic thrusting,” one woman eagerly replied) to if they actually cared about the story (a resounding “no”).

Fans were obviously a bit skeptical of his queries (a question about “Magic Mike”‘s accuracy vs. real male strippers produced some particularly amusing responses), but were quickly won over when the marketer promised attendees a “3D experience.” That experience morphed into an actual striptease performed by a gaggle of gorgeous guys, who pulled Scott up onstage to unmask Tatum.

Check out the video below, which is worth it for the crowd’s over-the-top enthusiasm as Tatum’s ruse is uncovered. (A special shout-out to hyperbolic woman who said that after Tatum twerked on her, she “pretty much reached peak life.”)

  • MTV Movie Awards 2015: The 8 Most Memorable Moments

    %Slideshow-280563%
The 2015 MTV Movie Awards were a mixed bag, made up of moments both funny and unfunny, awkward and adorable. We gave high marks to host Amy Schumer, while some other supposed comedic bits left us scratching our heads.

Here, we’ve collected some of the best and worst happenings from the night. Whether they were a high or a low point in the proceedings, they’re all memorable in their own way, and will have us talking for some time. (Or at least until next year’s show.)

    1. Amy Schumer brings the funny (and the sex).
The hostess kicked off the night with a pre-recorded clip parodying a bunch of the nominated films, including “Boyhood,” “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1,” “Whiplash,” and “The Fault in Our Stars.” But despite declaring in her opening monologue, “Half of you don’t know who I am, and the other half think I’m Meghan Trainor,” Schumer definitely made a name for herself Sunday night, thanks to a barrage of outrageous, bawdy, and just flat-out-funny jokes. She poked fun at host network MTV (winners wouldn’t have to worry about being played off during their acceptance speeches, because “MTV is the only network that refuses to play music”), misunderstood the movie “Selma” to actually be a biopic about Salma Hayek, and talked about sex — a lot. One extended scene involved Schumer running into a gaggle of female friends at the movie theater, going to see sexy flicks like “Fifty Shades of Grey” and “Magic Mike XXL” armed with an array of objects to make the experience more pleasurable, including shower heads, baseball bats, and an assortment of gourds.

    2. The Avengers assemble.
The “Avengers: Age of Ultron” cast came by to support Generation Award winner Robert Downey Jr., and preview a clip from the upcoming “Avengers” sequel. The crowd went nuts at the sight of Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, and Chris Evans walking out onstage, and ate up the cast’s goofy antics during Downey’s acceptance speech (which included the actor talking about his struggles with sobriety and his onetime floundering career, and urging fans to follow their dreams and “define your [own] generation”). But the “Ultron” clip was the real star, previewing a nasty showdown between the Hulk and Iron Man after Bruce Banner is possessed by the Scarlet Witch, and getting fans excited for the full “Ultron” experience, which is only weeks away.

    3. Shailene Woodley wins the night.
The “Fault in Our Stars” starlet took home an armful of awards, including Best Female Performance, Best Kiss (shared with Ansel Elgort, who was MIA Sunday night), the Trailblazer Award, and the night’s top prize, Movie of the Year. She was gracious and goofy during each acceptance speech she delivered, including the awkward moment she told fans to “blaze on” while accepting her Trailblazer trophy. “I don’t know if I can say that,” Woodley added hastily, grinning.

    4. Kevin Hart’s kids steal the show.
While we’d argue that an innuendo-filled awards show may not be the best place to bring your children, Kevin Hart‘s kids provided some of the best reaction shots of the night. Hart’s young son and daughter sat stone-faced and bored-looking throughout the proceedings, but when their dad went up to collect his Comedic Genius Award, the pint-sized duo came to life. They looked on proudly as Hart dedicated his Golden Popcorn to his “two beautiful kids that are my best friends.” The cuteness was capped by an elaborate secret handshake that Hart performed with his son, an adorable moment that was for some reason abruptly cut off by MTV’s cameras, while an indifferent Bella Thorne waited for her cue.

    5. Channing Tatum gives the people what they want.
Channing Tatum and his “Magic Mike XXL” costars Joe Manganiello, Matt Bomer, and Adam Rodriguez walked out to Ginuine’s “Pony” as they prepared to present the Best Scared-as-S**t Performance trophy, and the audience went wild. Naturally, winner Jennifer Lopez wasn’t going to let the group get off that easy, and encouraged them to bust a move, a request that Tatum and co. obliged, to the delight of the crowd. Later, Tatum came up to accept his own trophy (for Best Comedic Performance), and offered up a few solo dance moves. There’s no doubt the actor left fans wanting more – and eager for the release of “XXL” this summer.

    6. All the no-shows (and off-screen awards).
Unlike the Oscars or the Grammys, the MTV Movie Awards aren’t exactly known for being a long, drawn-out affair. So what was up with all the off-screen awards? And all the no-shows, for that matter? We understand that Teen Wolf” star, Dylan O’Brien? He took home three trophies Sunday, but couldn’t make it? And Shailene Woodley surely felt awfully silly when she waltzed up to collect Best Kiss without her costar Ansel Elgort. It seems pretty clear that most winners knew ahead of time that they were taking home their prizes (see below); someone at MTV should make sure that more of them are there for next year’s ceremony.

    7. Zac Efron and Dave Franco reprise their Robert De Niro impressions.
In an obviously planned and pre-rehearsed bit, Best On-Screen Duo winners Zac Efron and Dave Franco took the stage to accept their Golden Popcorn trophies dressed in their Robert De Niro costumes from “Neighbors.” Unfortunately, the one-note joke played especially poorly when it was drawn-out for several minutes, coming across as trying too hard and just plain unfunny. The nail on the awkward coffin was Efron grabbing and twisting Franco’s (clearly padded) crotch. The boys would have been better served by a normal acceptance speech – or maybe just Efron showing off his award-winning abs (Best Shirtless Performance, “Neighbors”) for more than a few seconds.

    8. “The Fault in Our Stars” makes us cry all over again.
The teenage cancer drama took home the night’s top prize, and author John Green accepted the Golden Popcorn with a heartfelt speech. Green thanked the cast – including leads Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort – for their performances, noting, “These people are such a gift to my life.” But the author saved his biggest appreciation for Esther Earl, the late teenager and activist who was the real-life inspiration behind “Stars.” Green thanked Earl for reminding the world that a disability or disease does not define a person, and that “a short life can be a good life.” If there were any dry eyes in the house, we missed it, since we were busy trying not to cry ourselves.mtv movie awards 2015Photo credit: AP

  • This ‘Magic Mike XXL’ Trailer Will Dance Right Into Your Heart (VIDEO)

Magic Mike XXLChanning Tatum unveiled the awesomely unsubtle poster for “Magic Mike XXL” yesterday, but apparently that was just a tease for today’s big reveal. Yes, the trailer for “Magic Mike XXL” is here, and as the trailer says, you’re welcome.

Those of us who remember the ’80s will immediately notice the callback to “Flashdance” and its heroine Alex, a welder by day and stripper by night. Except, naturally, Tatum is the one behind that welding helmet and not Jennifer Beals, and he’s doing something rather suggestive with his materials. Then he starts dancing all over the place. He’s out of control with the dancing! And that’s when the action begins. Abs, breakdancing, partying, Ginuwine’s “Pony,” gyrating, cans of soda exploding, and more abs: It’s all here!

It’s not clear if the trailer’s winking self-awareness will translate to the movie itself, or if the trailer is cut to emphasize the sexy, funny parts. Although “Magic Mike” was humorous and sexy, it was also a little grim. (Anyone else remember that sad little mini pig?) Gregory Jacobs is directing; as with many of Steven Soderbergh’s projects, Jacobs was the assistant director on “Magic Mike.” The script is co-written by Tatum and Reid Carolin, who penned the original “Magic Mike.”

Tatum and pals will dance back into our hearts and loins on July 1, 2015, when “Magic Mike XXL” hits theaters.

  • Channing Tatum Shows Off His Goods in ‘Magic Mike XXL’ Poster (PHOTO)

    Magic Mike XXL
The sequel to “Magic Mike” is coming soon, and a new poster for “Magic Mike XXL” wants you to know it.

In a not-so-subtle reference to the, uh, passion that the first film elicited, this image from the follow-up directs audiences to the real star of the series: the male anatomy. And while titular star Channing Tatum doesn’t show off much more than his toned abs, the promise of more should leave eager moviegoers salivating.

“Magic Mike XXL” takes place three years after the first flick, with Mike and his crew reuniting for a big show in Myrtle Beach that’s set to be his swan song in the stripping game. Tatum is joined by returning cast members Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Kevin Nash, Adam Rodriguez, and Gabriel Iglesias; newcomers to the lineup include Elizabeth Banks, Donald Glover, Amber Heard, Andie MacDowell, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Michael Strahan.

Check out the full poster below, and check out Tatum and co. when “Magic Mike XXL” hits theaters on July 1.
