  • Watch an Extended Clip From the ‘Friends’ Reunion at the James Burrows Tribute

We’ve seen the photos, we’ve seen the promos, and now, we have our first extended look at the “Friends” reunion, which took place last month at a tribute special for legendary sitcom director James Burrows, and is set to air later this month.

The clip, shared by TVLine, features five of the six main “Friends” stars (minus Matthew Perry, who’s in London starring in a play) reminiscing about their memories of Burrows, who directed many episodes of the longrunning NBC series, including its pilot. David Schwimmer went on to helm several episodes of the show as well, and said during the special that he looked to Burrows for guidance in exploring his newfound interest in directing.

“I asked him if I could watch him and follow him,” Schwimmer said of shadowing Burrows, both on the set of “Friends” and other series. ” … He graciously took me under his wing, and I learned so much from him.”

Co-star Lisa Kudrow reminisced about how Burrows started calling “Friends” cast members by the names of other famous characters from his previous gigs, including dubbing Courteney Cox “Mary Tyler Moore,” Matt LeBlac “Danza” (“Taxi” star Tony Danza), and Kudrow “Reverend Jim” (fellow “Taxi” star Christopher Lloyd).

“He wasn’t saying, ‘You’re as good as Christopher Lloyd,’” Kudrow conceded. ” … But I heard what I needed to hear.”

Check out the full clip above. The entire special, “Must See TV: An All Star Tribute to James Burrows,” airs on NBC on February 21.

  • ‘Friends’ Stars Asked About Sleeping Together in First NBC Tribute Promo

1996 THE CAST OF THE TV HIT SERIES "FRIENDS"NBC’s upcoming special is ostensibly a tribute to sitcom director James Burrows, but let’s be honest: It’s a tribute to ’80s-’00s TV nostalgia, especially for “Friends” fans. It’s not really a “Friends” reunion without Matthew Perry, but he’ll still be part of the show via a separate taped segment. The other five — Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox Arquette, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer — gathered for the special, which was recently taped, and NBC just shared the first promo.

In the video, we see shots of interviews with the casts of several classic sitcoms, including “Cheers,” “Taxi,” “Frasier,” “Mike & Molly,” “Will & Grace,” “The Big Bang Theory,” and, yeah, “Friends.”

The promo ends with a glimpse of the “Friends” panel, with Jennifer Aniston tripping over Matt LeBlanc to take her seat, and moderator Andy Cohen asking the five-some, “Did you all sign contracts saying that you wouldn’t sleep with each other?” The camera cuts to Lisa Kudrow turning to David Schwimmer, joking, “David, say something!”

    Here’s the preview:

It should be pretty cute, even if it’s not an “official” reunion, and it will be great to see the other casts talk about their shows, too. The “All-Star Tribute to James Burrows” airs Sunday, February 21 at 9 p.m. on NBC.

  • The ‘Friends’ Cast Is Reuniting! This Is Not a Drill!

FriendsThe cast of “Friends” will be there for James Burrows.

The six stars of the now-classic NBC sitcom — Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer, — are reuniting on screen for the first time since 2004. If if you’re hoping for a follow-up to the series, sorry! Instead, the cast is getting together to honor veteran director Burrows, who recently helmed his 1,000th episode of television.

Burrows directed many episodes of “Friends,” as well as other hit shows including “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” “Taxi,” “Cheers,” “Two and a Half Men,” and “The Big Bang Theory.” He crossed the 1,000-marker line last November with NBC’s midseason comedy, “Crowded.”

The Burrows tribute is a two-hour-long special being likened to the “Saturday Night Live” 40th anniversary extravaganza. Other luminary casts will also join in the fun, including the stars of “Frasier,” “Will & Grace,” and “The Big Bang Theory.” The special will air Sunday, Feb. 21 at 9 p.m.

  • See Lisa Kudrow and Matt LeBlanc’s Emmys ‘Friends’ Reunion

No awards show would be complete without onetime castmates reuniting on the red carpet, and last night at the Emmys, two former “Friends” got together.

The Comeback,” LeBlanc for his leading role on “Episodes”) bumped into each other while doing interviews. As LeBlanc was chatting with “Entertainment Tonight,” he spotted Kudrow walking the red carpet, and beckoned her over to say hello.

The pair adorably complimented each other’s ensembles (LeBlanc protectively tried to button a button over Kudrow’s cleavage) and congratulated one another on their nominations, gleefully sharing in the other’s good fortune as only longtime pals can do. And the twosome revealed to “ET” that LeBlanc was actually the one to tell Kudrow she was up for an Emmy, after texting her his excitement when the nominations were revealed.

It’s a sweet moment, and one we’re glad we got to witness. Check it out for yourself below.

  • What If ‘Friends’ Was All in Phoebe’s Mind? Dark Fanfic Goes Viral

It’s not weird enough that Phoebe Buffay sang songs like “Friends” ended back in 2004 and countless fan theories, videos, and mashups have emerged since then, but nothing quite like the sad new fan fiction shared by @strnks on Twitter.

On August 24, this fan rather casually commented on an upcoming “Friends” marathon with a proposal of how he would’ve ended the show. Cue The One Where Friends Got Really Depressing As a Commentary on Urban Loneliness and Drug Addiction. Yeah, it doesn’t have quite the same ring to it.

But here’s his full episode rundown:

Amazing. It could fit. And yet it’s too sad to really accept. Take us back to the happy place of Phoebe as the wonderfully quirky woman we — and the friends of “Friends” — know and love!

  • See Taylor Swift & Lisa Kudrow Sing ‘Smelly Cat’ from ‘Friends’

taylor swift, lisa kudrow, smelly catLike any good millennial, it turns out that Friends” — so much so, in fact, that she invited star Lisa Kudrow on stage at her show in Los Angeles Wednesday night to sing a Phoebe Buffay classic.

Swift introduced Kudrow as if she was talking about Buffay herself, telling the crowd that the singer she was about to bring out had only ever performed in coffee shops. The songstress then unveiled Central Perk fave Buffay/Kudrow, and the twosome belted out a rendition of “Smelly Cat,” Phoebe’s famous ode to a feline with unfortunate body odor.

As if that in itself wasn’t enough fun, Kudrow also riffed on a memorable “Friends” scene she shared with Pretenders frontwoman Chrissie Hynde, in which she criticized the singer (playing a rival Central Perk performer) for her lackluster vocals on “Smelly Cat.” Kudrow and Swift replayed that bit, with the former encouraging the latter to “really feel the lyrics,” and Swift obliging with a raspy take on one of the verses.

It’s all (mostly) captured in the clip below, which is a bit shaky but still manages to give fans who weren’t there in person an impression of how the performance played out live.

Swift has taken a bit of gentle ribbing for her penchant for parading out her famous friends while on tour, but this is one “Friend” we’re glad she shared. And according to Kudrow, the feeling is mutual.

Maybe there’s room for Taylor on the big orange couch at the next “Friends” reunion?

  • Best of Late Night TV: Kelly Clarkson Sings Tinder Profiles

Taraji P. Henson and Jimmy Fallon
    Tonight Show

On Monday night, Josh Groban sang Donald Trump tweets. Tuesday night, Kelly Clarkson sang real Tinder profiles on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” The original “American Idol” winner can sing the heck out of anything, and she really SOLD those wacky profiles. (Go for the girl who loves her hairless cat, baking cookies, and smoking blunts!)

Over on “The Tonight Show,” Taraji P. Henson and Jimmy Fallon played a crazy game of “Fast Family Feud.” The “Empire” star got a little buzzer-happy — she was happy in general and very energetic. LOVE her answers. And remember, hide the drugs when guests come over! (Someone tell that Tinder girl who loves smoking blunts.)

Johnny Knoxville talked to Jimmy Kimmel about his buddy Steve-O’s recent arrest and shared some Evel Knievel stories.

Jimmy asked random kids what their parents do at work. ‘Cause do they really know?

“Orange Is the New Black” star Uzo Aduba told Conan O’Brien about her awkward marathon fan encounter. She was in the middle of running the NY Marathon — actually around mile 17 — when a fellow runner came up to her to say he recognized her and wanted a quick selfie. The guy snapped the photo before she could even say anything, then ran off. So rude!

Friends” alum Lisa Kudrow was on “Conan” to discuss her Emmy-nominated show, “The Comeback,” which she revived after nine years. She also revealed the origin of character’s name, Valerie Cherish.

“Conan” also showed off “translated” foreign movie posters. Funny stuff:

Zac Efron, who was on “The Tonight Show” Tuesday night, was on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” last night and explained what he’s doing in the “Baywatch” reboot. Seth also read off a poem Zac’s younger brother wrote about him. Very cute.

Patrick Stewart, Anthony Davis, and Morrissey were on “The Late Late Show with James Corden” and here’s Sir Patrick — who kissed Conan last night — putting on a magic show with James. Patrick Stewart is seriously one of the best late night guests ever.

  • Best of Late Night TV: Bill Murray Shines As Letterman’s Last Guest, Kimmel’s Emotional Tribute, Jamie Foxx Sings

If you’re like us and value your sleep, you probably nodded off into your Ambien dreamland before the party started on post-prime time TV. Don’t worry; we’ve got you covered. Here’s the best of what happened last night on late night.

David Letterman’s very first guest — 33 years ago — and he was also his last, Tuesday night on “Late Show with David Letterman.” Dave’s final show is tomorrow but it’ll be a celebration send-off; this is the last classic round of guest interviews. Bill arrived for his big moment by popping out of a giant “Goodbye Dave” cake. He hugged Dave, then visited the band and went into the audience to smear people with cake. In his cake-covered sit-down interview, Bill told Dave they all just want more from him. He got the audience to chant “More! More! More! More!” Then he went outside to face the crowd and gathered them in the streets of NYC to chant “All we are saying is more Worldwide Pants,” which is Dave’s production company. Gotta love Bill Murray. They also aired a highlight reel of Bill’s best moments from 22 years on “Late Night”: Bob Dylan also performed “The Night We Called It a Day”: Jimmy Fallon offered his Letterman tribute on Monday night, and Tuesday it was Jimmy Kimmel’s turn. Kimmel choked up very early in the tribute and cried talking about how he grew up watching Dave’s show, describing what made it different from every other talk show. Jimmy also showed a photo from his 16th birthday party — he had a Late Night cake and wore a Dave Letterman letterman’s jacket and they showed his L8 Nite vanity plate for his first car. Kimmel choked up again when saying he wouldn’t have his own show if executives and producers hadn’t seen him perform on Dave’s show. Kimmel said they’ll be airing a repeat episode tomorrow night so as not to compete with Dave’s final show, and he encouraged his fans to not even watch that. Just watch Dave.
George Clooney was a guest on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” talking about his many pranks over the years. Britt, who was eliminated as one of the new “Bachelorettes” last night, was also on JKL, talking about her disappointment. Jamie Foxx was on “The Tonight Show” and he got the audience chanting “America” — the audience was filled with Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines. He mentioned running into Meredith Vieira, saying his beard is dyed, so when he hugged her, he gave her “half of a black man’s beard.” He turned that into a song and did a little dance. Jamie also played “Wheel of Musical Impressions” with Jimmy: Lisa Kudrow and Zach Woods were on “The Late Late Show with James Corden” and they talked about their childhood neuroses.

  • 19 Times Phoebe Buffay Was Our Favorite ‘Friend’

    %Slideshow-261917%
There’s no denying that “Friends” has been a huge part of pop culture since it first aired back in 1994, but it seems like everyone we know has been talking about the classic sitcom recently since the complete series is streaming on Netflix this very moment. Due to our own excessive binging, we’ve got “Friends” on the brain, too. And while we try to love all of the six main characters equally, we’ve recently been on a total Phoebe kick upon revisitation of the series. We just can’t shake our love for Lisa Kudrow’s kooky blonde. Agree? Sit back and enjoy some Phoebe Buffay moments that prove she’s the best friend anyone could ask for.
