    Colman Domingo has been on a real run of late as studios and streamers have finally woken up to what a great actor he is. He was nominated for an Oscar in the last awards season for his work in political biopic ‘Rustin’ and is drawing further praise for his performance in based-on-truth prison drama ‘Sing Sing.’

    And now, if Deadline’s report pans out, he’ll reunite with one of the most successful filmmakers in Hollywood history, as Domingo is in early talks to join the cast of Steven Spielberg’s mysterious new movie. The actor previously appeared in the director’s ‘Lincoln.’

    That’s the one thing that has really been kept quiet about the director’s latest project. While it has been talked about as an “event movie” –– as opposed to his last two movies, ‘The Fabelmans’ and ‘West Side Story’, which verged more towards awards season prestige than summer blockbuster territory, this one will be squarely more in the wheelhouse of movies such as the ‘Indiana Jones’ movies and ‘Jurassic Park.’

    Or perhaps we should say ‘Close Encounters of the Third Kind’ or ‘War of the Worlds’ as the new film is reportedly once more focused on alien (or at least UFO) interaction.

    Still, ‘Jurassic Park’ is also a touchstone, since writer David Koepp, who wrote the first two outings of the dino-franchise (and recently returned to pen ‘Jurassic World Rebirth,’ which director Gareth Edwards has been shooting), crafted the script for the new movie based on an idea from Spielberg.

    Assuming his deal is signed and sealed, Domingo would be joining the rumored likes of Emily Blunt (recently seen in big box office/Oscar success ‘Oppenheimer’ along with Netflix dramedy ‘Pain Hustlers’ and co-starring with Ryan Gosling in ‘The Fall Guy’), Colin Firth (who popped up in ‘Empire of Light’ and an uncredited cameo in ‘Rye Lane’) and Eve Hewson, currently to be found on Netflix’s ‘The Perfect Couple.’

    Domingo will next be seen playing Michael Jackson’s controversial father Joe in biopic ‘Michael,’ due out on April 18th next year.

    When will Spielberg’s latest be in theaters?

    Universal and Amblin Entertainment have handed the movie a May 15th, 2026, release date, setting it squarely in the summer blockbuster territory that Spielberg himself helped establish way back in the 1970s with the likes of ‘Jaws.’

    Russell Hornsby to Take Over Denzel Washington Role in ‘The Bone Collector’ Series

    Remember the 1999 thriller “The Bone Collector,” in which Denzel Washington played a paralyzed forensic expert who solved crimes with the help of Angelina Jolie?

    It was based on the bestselling book series by Jeffrey Deaver about Lincoln Rhyme, and it’s now becoming a TV series. “Grimm” alum Russell Hornsby will star.  The NBC show, which will simply be called “Lincoln,” could include storylines from several of Deaver’s other books in the series.

    Hornsby and Washington previously costarred in “Fences,” which Washington directed.

    His recent credits include Fox’s legal drama “Proven Innocent” and the Netflix series “Seven Seconds.” He received a number of critics’ and other nominations for his role in last year’s drama “The Hate U Give.”

  • Leonardo DiCaprio & Steven Spielberg May Reteam for Ulysses S. Grant Biopic

    Steven Spielberg is looking to return to the Civil War era of his 2012 film “Lincoln” for a biopic on Ulysses S. Grant.

    According to Deadline, Spielberg wants to reteam with Leonardo DiCaprio and direct his “Catch Me If You Can” star in this Grant film. Both men are said to be in early discussions on the project.

    Lionsgate and Leo’s Appian Way productions acquired the movie rights to “Grant,” the biography by Ron Chernow that writer David James Kelly is adapting.

    Before he was the 18th President of the United States, Grant was Commanding General of the Army, leading the Union Army to victory during the Civil War. After Lincoln was assassinated, Andrew Johnson was briefly president before Grant was elected and served from 1869 to 1877.

    In his book, Chernow argues that Grant’s presidency has been viewed in an undeservedly negative light. Jared Harris played Grant in “Lincoln,” but it sounds like Leo would take the gig in this film.

    If Spielberg and DiCaprio do reteam for this project, it’s not clear when it would happen. DiCaprio has Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” up next, among other projects. Spielberg has “Indiana Jones 5” and “West Side Story” up next, plus whatever he’s doing with that Blackhawk movie for DC.

    However, Deadline’s sources called the Grant movie “a priority.” So we may be seeing it on screen relatively soon.

  • This ‘Black Panther’ Scene Kind of Got Some Help From Steven Spielberg

    For a major scene in “Black Panther,” director Ryan Coogler took a page from Steven Spielberg’s book — but not one of the legendary director’s big-budget adventure films!

    In his commentary track on the Blu-ray release, Coogler talks about the first waterfall fight scene, when M’Baku (Winston Duke) makes a surprise appearance to challenge T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) and confront the future king about the Jabari tribe’s poor treatment.

    “A big inspiration for me with this scene, actually crazy enough was the film ‘Lincoln,’” Coogler says.

    “Lincoln” is Spielberg’s 2012 historical film that starred Daniel Day-Lewis as President Abraham Lincoln.

    “I remember seeing it thinking like, oh man these political scenes, really interesting. When they’re in the House [of Representatives] and they’re arguing these political things in a real animated way,” he explains.

    Coogler added, “I thought it’d be great if this dude comes out with these political arguments but it’s also like a challenge to T’Challa’s masculinity.
