  • Sofia Vergara Is the Highest-Paid TV Actress (by a Lot) for 6th Year in a Row

US-ENTERTAINMENT-VANITYFAIR-OSCARS-AFTERPARTY-filmWhen “Modern Family” and “The Big Bang Theory” finally end their runs, this list is going to bust wide open.

Then again, Forbes says Sofia Vergara only gets about one-quarter of her income from ABC’s Emmy-winning “Modern Family,” so she may still make more than most TV stars when she’s done playing Gloria Pritchett.

At any rate, Vergara just topped Forbes’ list of the world’s highest-paid TV actress for the sixth year in a row. She made slightly less than last year, but still way more than No. 2, who is still Kaley Cuoco of “The Big Bang Theory.” Most of the top 10 are the same from last year — including Mindy Kaling of “The Mindy Project,” Ellen Pompeo of “Grey’s Anatomy,” Mariska Hargitay of “Law & Order: SVU,” Kerry Washington of “Scandal,” Julie Bowen of “Modern Family,” and Priyanka Chopra of “Quantico.”

The 23rd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards - Red CarpetThere were a couple of changes, though. Since “Castle” and “The Good Wife” are no longer on the air, Stana Katic and Julianna Margulies are no longer on the list. That made room for Robin Wright of “House of Cards” and Pauley Perrette of “NCIS.”

Obviously these stars are paid wayyyyy more than The Rest of Us, but most of their overall salaries are down from last year — except for Cuoco who went from $24.5 million to $26 million, and Julie Bowen who went from $10M to $12M. Last year, Bowen was No. 10 on that list, and even though she personally made more this year, the No. 10 spot for 2017 dropped from $10M to Perrette’s $8.5 million.

Here’s the 2017 list of highest paid TV actresses:

    1. Sofia Vergara — $41.5 million
    2. Kaley Cuoco — $26 million
    3. Mindy Kaling — $13 million
    3. Ellen Pompeo — $13 million
    5. Mariska Hargitay — $12.5 million
    6. Julie Bowen — $12 million
    7. Kerry Washington — $11 million
    8. Priyanka Chopra — $10 million
    9. Robin Wright — $9 million
    10. Pauley Perrette — $8.5 million

For comparison’s sake, here’s last year’s list for actresses, and the one for actors. Vergara makes way more than the top men, too, but after that point the playing field levels out more.

  • Kaley Cuoco Addresses ‘Big Bang Theory’ Future After Season 10

No one knows for sure what will happen to “The Big Bang Theory” after the show wraps its upcoming 10th season, and that includes those working both in front of and behind the camera on the hit CBS sitcom. Star Kaley Cuoco addressed the question during an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Monday night, and while she didn’t say for certain whether or not the series would sign off for good next spring, it certainly sounds like things are leaning that way.

Cuoco chatted with Kimmel about hitting the 10-season milestone, and the host asked her if season 11 had been discussed yet.

“It’s a very expensive question,” the actress answered, most likely referring to the huge, $1 million per episode salaries collected by the show’s starring trio of Cuoco, Jim Parsons, and Johnny Galecki — and the fact that the cast is now up for new contracts, and another potential pay raise. Cuoco laughed and joked throughout the interview, mentioning that 10 seasons’ worth of “TBBT” featured a lot of hairstyle changes and evolving wardrobe choices. And she was still laughing when Kimmel asked her if 10 seasons was enough, and she said yes. But was she simply playing along, or did she mean it? Was she staying mum to avoid complications with her contract negotiations with CBS?

It’s not a lot to parse, but the fact that the actress didn’t come right out and say she’d love to do another season perhaps indicates that she and the rest of her castmates think it’s time for the show to sign off. It’s something that showrunner Steve Molaro hinted at last fall when discussing whether season 10 would be the end of the series (at the time, he thought it would), though Molaro recently told The Hollywood Reporter that he hadn’t made up his mind on the issue, and was waiting for contract talks to settle before thinking about the show’s future beyond the current season.

Fans will have to stay tuned. Season 10 of “The Big Bang Theory” premieres on CBS on September 19.

  • ‘Lip Sync Battle’: Watch Josh Gad and Johnny Galecki Make Out (as Donald Trump)

Look at LL Cool J‘s reaction — it’s huuuuuge!

This Thursday, January 28, “The Big Bang Theory” star “Lip Sync Battle.” Spike just posted a couple of teasers for the showdown, including Josh as Donald Trump, performing The Divinyls’ “I Touch Myself.”

The clip takes a random turn at the end when Kaley’s TBBT co-star Johnny Galecki shows up, also wearing a Trump wig, and makes out with Gad’s Trump. As one fan put it in the YouTube comments, “Oh my gosh I just saw Leonard make out with Olaf…” Yep, while dressed as Trump! Things you don’t see every day.

Kaley laughs, but LL clearly wishes he could unsee it. Megyn Kelly should put that one on repeat.

Here’s a preview of Kaley getting dirty to Ludacris’s “Move Bitch”:

Watch the full battles play out on Thursday. Do you think Trump will tune in?

  • Ecstatic ‘The Big Bang Theory’ Star Shares ‘Friends’ Reunion Photo

Talk about a money shot. Bazinga! The stars from two massively successful sitcoms — “The Big Bang Theory” — gathered for one epic photo Sunday night.

Most of the “Friends” cast reunited to tape NBC’s “Must See TV: A Tribute to James Burrows,” and they were joined by other small-screeners, including the cast of the biggest comedy on TV right now, “The Big Bang Theory.” As it turns out, TBBT stars are just “Friends” fangirls and fanboys like the rest of us!

Check out the group photo shared by both Kaley Cuoco and Johnny Galecki. In the shot, you can see “Friends” stars David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, and Lisa Kudrow, posing with TBBT’s Cuoco, Galecki, Simon Helberg, and Jim Parsons. (Matthew Perry is the Debbie Downer who ruined the chance for an official “Friends” reunion, since he’s in London. However, he’ll introduce the crew when the special airs on February 21.)

Kaley Cuoco had the best caption to capture the moment: “Ummmm NIGHT MADE. Can’t breathe #friends meets #bbt @bigbangtheory_cbs I died and went to heaven.”

Breathe into Sheldon’s paper bag, Penny!

Here’s the full “Friends” + “Big Bang” shot:

Johnny Galecki shared the same photo, writing, “And then this happened. #TBBT #friends.” Don’t even try to act casual, man, we know you squeed like a tween!

What do you think these stars chatted about between taping? Perhaps they toasted to their shared $1 million-per-episode contracts?

  • 18 Times Penny Was the Best Part of ‘The Big Bang Theory’

    %Slideshow-342193%
Penny might be the only member of her squad that doesn’t have an advanced degree or a firm grasp of string theory and microbiology, but that doesn’t mean we should show her any less love. The first lady of “The Big Bang Theory,” played by the lovely Kaley Cuoco, is witty, adorable, and chock full of epic Sheldon burns. We’re all for watching nerds do their hilarious nerd things on TV, but let’s give it up for the always-endearing Penny too. Here are 18 times she was the best part of “The Big Bang Theory.”

  • Kaley Cuoco Shuts Down Johnny Galecki Romance Rumors

The 41st Annual People's Choice Awards - Press RoomOnly weeks after “The Big Bang Theory” star Kaley Cuoco announced her divorce from husband Ryan Sweeting, the actress has been beset by rumors of a rekindled romance with her “TBBT” co-star — and former boyfriend — Johnny Galecki. Now, Cuoco has taken to Instagram to shut down that talk once and for all.

This week, Cuoco shared a sweet black and white snap of her and Galecki sitting on a bench together, smiling and giving each other a fist bump. And while the image may make some ‘shippers excited, the actress’s caption confirmed that this relationship is strictly platonic.

“So sorry to disappoint, but no home wreckers or secret flings going on here,” Cuoco wrote. “Me and @sanctionedjohnnygalecki are just the best of buds – Leonard and Penny will just have to suffice!”

Cuoco and Galecki’s onscreen alter egos, Penny and Leonard, just tied the knot on the long-running CBS sitcom, after years of on- and off-again dating. Sadly for “TBBT” fans, it doesn’t look like that will happen for their real-life counterparts anytime soon — or ever.

Cuoco’s rep confirmed the actress’s split from Sweeting late last month, after 21 months of marriage. The pair had a whirlwind courtship, getting engaged in September 2013 after only a few months of dating, and marrying in December 2013.

  • Kaley Cuoco and Ryan Sweeting Are Divorcing After 21 Months

Glamour Women Of The Year Awards“The Big Bang Theory” star Kaley Cuoco had a whirlwind romance with tennis player husband Ryan Sweeting, and now, the pair are parting ways after 21 months of marriage.

People reports that the couple, who married on December 31, 2013, have decided to divorce. Cuoco’s rep released a statement to People confirming the news.

“Kaley Cuoco and Ryan Sweeting have mutually decided to end their marriage,” the statement said. “They ask for privacy at this time. No further statement will be issued regarding this matter.”

Cuoco and Sweeting got engaged in September 2013 after only a few months of dating. Rumors of an impending split surfaced earlier this year, which Cuoco addressed in a since-deleted Instagram post back in April, writing about Sweeting’s tennis-related injuries and “constant ‘conversation’ regarding our marriage and basically any daily decision we decide to make.”

After news of the split broke, the actress added another photo to Instagram of her dog, Norman, simply captioned “#mood.”

  • Best of Late Night TV: Kaley Cuoco’s Pup Quiz and Terry Crews’ Grunt-Off

If you’re like us and value your sleep, you probably nodded off into your Ambien dreamland before the party started on post-prime time TV. Don’t worry; we’ve got you covered. Here’s the best of what happened last night on late night.

It’s that time of the month again: where Jimmy Fallon lets his celebrity guest on “The Tonight Show” (in this case, Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting) play with a bunch of puppy labradors. Nothing else matters. Only this.

In which Jimmy Kimmel introduces “Lullaby Ben” (a sleep machine), and says that Ben Carson comes off as a “guy who grabbed the wrong drink at Bill Cosby’s house.” Just leaving this here…

Trevor Noah visited Stephen Colbert on “The Late Show,” and did his best impression of GOP candidates at the debates. It scary-good. Emphasis on scary.

As everyone knows, James Cordon, in which they out-grunted each other.

Finally, Big Sean did a parody of “IDFWY,” and it was basically adorable. Look at that smile!

  • Two Sitcom Stars Tie for Highest-Paid TV Actress of 2015

They say laughter is the best medicine … to cure an ailing bank account. Funny ladies took several spots on “Modern Family,” who topped the list for the fourth consecutive year, and Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting of “The Big Bang Theory,” who topped for the first time.

For both stars, the combination of sitcom contracts and lucrative endorsement deals put them over the top, with earnings of $28.5 million (pretax) from June 1, 2014 to June 1, 2015.

Here are the top 15 highest-paid TV actresses, according to Forbes:

    1. Sofia Vergara – $28.5 million
    1. Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting – $28.5 million
    3. Julie Bowen – $12 million
    4. Ellen Pompeo – $11.5 million
    5. Mariska Hargitay – $11 million
    6. Julianna Margulies – $10.5 million
    6. Amy Poehler – $10.5 million
    8. Mindy Kaling – $9 million
    9. Patricia Heaton – $7 million
    9. Kerry Washington – $7 million
    11. Tina Fey – $6.5 million
    11. Emily Deschanel – $6.5 million
    13. Pauley Perrette – $6 million
    14. Robin Wright – $5.5 million
    15. Zooey Deschanel – $5 million

As you can see, “Modern Family” star Julie Bowen was just below Sofia and Kaley, although with less than half of their overall earnings. Most of the actresses are network TV stars, although good for Robin Wright — of Netflix’s “House of Cards” — for sneaking her way onto the list.

However, on a less positive note, there isn’t much racial diversity here. As Forbes noted, “Vergara, Kaling, and Scandal star Kerry Washington, who made $7 million, are the only minority actresses to make the ranking. UCLA’s annual report on diversity in film and TV found that among broadcast comedy and drama leads, minorities were underrepresented by a factor of 7 to 1, while cable shows underrepresented minorities by more than 2 to 1.”

And Forbes also noted that there is still a gap between the highest paid actresses and the highest paid actors:

While the salaries of the actresses on this list are undeniably substantial, TV stars still experience a significant pay gap when compared to their male counterparts. The cut-off to be on this year’s list of top-paid TV actors was $9.5 million—$4.5 million more than that for TV actresses—as we continue to see actors out-earning actresses and landing the lead role more often. As with racial diversity, this underrepresentation of females is found across the entertainment industry and in all aspects of development.”

Maybe no one ever told Hollywood that more than half of the people in the world are women. Oh well, $4.5 million is still a lot more than we’ll see this year, so congrats to all the list-makers.
