  • Neville Longbottom Got Ripped (and Made J.K. Rowling Uncomfortable)

Matthew Lewis, the actor behind beloved “Harry Potter” character Neville Longbottom, has made headlines before for how much he’s changed since his debut as an awkward preteen in “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.” Now, the British babe is once again making waves with his appearance — and making author J.K. Rowling uncomfortable in the process.

Lewis is the latest cover star for Attitude magazine, and the actor went all-out for the occasion, showing off an impressive set of abs (and making good on the headline, “From Hogwarts to Hottie”). Things got steamier inside the mag, with a photo of Lewis showing off…well, you can imagine (or check out the pic for yourself here).Matthew Lewis, Neville Longbottom, AttitudeBut while many fans swooned over the images, there was one person whose reaction wasn’t entirely positive. In a post on Twitter, Rowling compared her response to Lewis’s racy photoshoot to her shock in seeing “Potter” star Daniel Radcliffe in the buff in the play “Equus.” The photos were “Not as bad” as that experience, “but close,” Rowling wrote.

An embarrassed Lewis replied to Rowling’s comment with a hasty apology (and acknowledgement of the awkwardness), though the author took it in stride. “I will always support you whatever you want to do, Matthew,” Rowling responded, before cheekily adding, “Now go put some clothes on.”

Best “Harry Potter”-themed Twitter interaction ever? We think so. A thousand points to Gryffindor.

  • J.K. Rowling to Apologize for One ‘Harry Potter’ Death a Year, Starting Now

As you probably knew, honored, and celebrated in your own way, May 2 marked the 17th anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts. [A moment of silence, please.] “Harry Potter” author J.K. Rowling chose the anniversary to launch a new tradition: apologizing for people she’s killed off. She tweeted her first regret, her reason for it, and her plan to do the same every year at this time. So mark your calendar and cross your fingers for your favorite to be honored in this strange, but still somehow compelling new way next year.

    Here are the author’s tweets:

Congratulations to Fred Weasley for being the first apology. It’s fitting to start with him, since he was a major casualty of the Battle of Hogwarts. George would probably appreciate Fred being honored first — and maybe make a little joke about not quite hearing her right, so could she repeat it every day.

Any thoughts on who might be next? That fan asked about Lupin and Tonks, but you could add any number of characters — Sirius Black, Dumbledore, Snape, etc. We’re pulling for you, Severus!

  • Eddie Redmayne Eyed for ‘Harry Potter’ Spinoff ‘Fantastic Beasts’

87th Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals
There have been plenty of rumors swirling around just who will play the mysterious lead in “Harry Potter” spinoff “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” and now, it looks like there’s a frontrunner for the part.

Variety reports that Eddie Redmayne is at the top of director David Yates‘s wishlist for the role of Newt Scamander, the magizoologist and author of the titular textbook used by Hogwarts students in the “Potter” books and flicks. According to the trade, several other actors are also in the mix — including “Mad Max: Fury Road” star Nicholas Hoult — but the newly-minted Oscar winner is currently the number one choice.

No offer to Redmayne has been made yet.

“Fantastic Beasts” takes place 70 years before the events of “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” and follows the adventures of Scamander in America. Variety reports that studio Warner Bros. is also looking to cast two American girls and two American boys in four leading roles.

“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them,” written by “Potter” author J.K. Rowling in her screenwriting debut, is set for release on November 18, 2016.

  • J.K. Rowling’s ‘The Casual Vacancy’ Will Hit HBO in April

JK Rowling Hosts Fundraising Event For Charity 'Lumos'

“The Casual Vacancy,” the mini-series based on J.K. Rowling’s adult mystery, will land Stateside on HBO in April. The three-part show will premiere on BBC One on February 15.

In the meantime, there’s a little teaser trailer to introduce us to the quaint British town of Pagford. It all looks veddy proper and jolly indeed, but naturally there are all sorts of grown-up, non-wizard-y secrets lurking just below the surface. However, it probably doesn’t help that Dumbledore is part of the ensemble cast. Just saying. It also stars Rory Kinnear, Emily Bevan, Julia McKenzie, Keeley Hawes, Monica Dolan, and Abigail Lawrie. The adaptation was written by Sarah Phelps, who also penned scripts for “Great Expectations,” “Camelot,” and “EastEnders.”

“The Casual Vacancy” was J.K. Rowling’s first novel outside of the “Harry Potter” series. Her second, “The Cuckoo’s Calling,” was released under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith, although soon enough the author’s real identity was revealed.

    Check out the trailer below.
