Ben Affleck and Matt Damon truly conquered Hollywood together.

The two lifelong friends from Boston began their careers as extras in ‘Field of Dreams‘ and had small roles in ‘School Ties‘, before Affleck made ‘Dazed and Confused‘ and ‘Mallrats‘, and Damon appeared in ‘Mystic Pizza‘ and ‘Courage Under Fire‘.

The two would work together again for their breakout hit ‘Good Will Hunting‘, which earned them an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay and jump started their movie star careers.

Both actors went on to have huge careers, and while Damon would co-write ‘Promised Land‘ with John Krasinski, and Affleck would direct such films as ‘The Town‘ and ‘Argo‘, the two friends would not work together again until 2021’s ‘The Last Duel‘.

They would go on to also star in ‘Air‘, which Affleck directed and their latest film together, ‘The Rip‘, premieres on Netflix January 16th.

In honor of ‘The Rip’, Moviefone is ranking every film Ben Affleck and Matt Damon have ever made together.

    • Actor Shannen Doherty has died aged 53.
    • She was best known for small screen roles on ‘Beverly Hills 90210’ and ‘Charmed’.
    • Doherty also appeared in the likes of ‘Heathers’ and ‘Mallrats’.

Shannen Doherty, who rose to fame starring on teen drama ‘Beverly Hills 90210’ has died. She had been diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, entering remission in 2017, but by 2019 it had returned and begun to spread.

Doherty’s longtime publicist Leslie Sloane revealed news of her death:

“It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress, Shannen Doherty. On Saturday, July 13th, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of fighting the disease. The devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend was surrounded by her loved ones as well as her dog, Bowie. The family asks for their privacy at this time so they can grieve in peace.”

Shannen Maria Doherty was born on April 12th, 1971, in Memphis, Tennessee. Her family moved to Los Angeles so she could pursue an acting career from a young age. A role on the series ‘Father Murphy’ brought her to the attention of Michael Landon, and she was cast on ‘Little House on the Prairie’ at the age of 11.

She recalled her time on the show fondly on her Let’s Be Clear podcast:

”It was really the experience on ‘Little House’ that spurred that passion on for being an actor, and it was having a mentor like Michael Landon. And I don’t care what anybody else’s experience was like. I know the truth about that man, and he was just unbelievable. So, so, so talented, so kind, so considerate. It really helped shape me.”

Following ‘Little House’, she had a recurring role on ‘Our House’ alongside Wilford Brimley and a variety of other roles, though two major performances stand out.

If there is one role for which Doherty will be truly remembered, it is that of fresh-faced brunette Brenda Walsh on Fox’s ‘Beverly Hills, 90210’. Along with her twin brother Brandon, played by Jason Priestly, the Walshes were the classic fish-out-of-water family that moved from Minnesota to Beverly Hills and tried to fit in with the L.A. rich kids.

The show became a massive hit, spurred by some controversies over subjects it tackled, though Doherty developed a reputation for being difficult on set and friction with her co-stars. She left the show in 1994, though did return for several episodes of reboot ‘90210’ and meta take ‘BH90210’.

Her other big part was as witch Prue Halliwell on ‘Charmed’, the oldest of three magical sisters who work together to battle evil. She directed several episodes and then left the show at the end of the third season, amid more reports of tension with her fellow stars.

Her TV work also included ‘North Shore’, ‘Riverdale’ and shows she produced, including ‘Breaking Up With Shannen Doherty’, where she helped people get out of bad relationships.

Kevin Smith Begins ‘Jay and Silent Bob Reboot’ Filming on Heart Attack Anniversary

    Saban Films

Exactly one year ago, writer-director Kevin Smith suffered a massive heart attack that nearly claimed his life. The significance of that event continues to weigh heavily on the star, and on the first anniversary of his brush with death, Smith is celebrating his second shot at life — and the beginning of a new project.

In a post on Instagram, the filmmaker revealed that February 25 marked one year since his heart attack, and he specifically chose that date as the first day of filming on “Jay and Silent Bob Reboot,” the sequel/reboot/remake hybrid to 2001’s “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back” that pokes fun at all three of those categories. Smith shared a selfie of himself in character as Silent Bob, along with costars Jason Mewes (Jay) and Jason Lee (Brodie), as well as some words of gratitude for both the chance to reprise his role, and continue living his life.

    https://www.instagram.com/p/BuUUN_fAif4/

According to Smith, the trio easily slipped back into their onscreen alter egos, and “partied like it was 1995,” the year they collaborated on “Mallrats.” The director continued:

‘The Oscars were on in the background during our practice and I couldn’t help but feel relief when the “In Memoriam” montage ended and I wasn’t in it. We picked 2/25 as the Reboot start date *intentionally*, to celebrate the fact that I did not become Silent Bob forever 365 days ago. But after a blissful couple hours of making pretend with my friends on the set of my 14th film, I’m starting to think I *did* die in that operating room after all. Because what could be more Heavenly than this?’

    Amen, Kev.

    Here’s the film’s official logline:

“In ‘Jay & Silent Bob Reboot,’ our herbal heroes find out Hollywood is making a reboot of the old movie that was based on them, so they journey out to Hollywood to stop it again.”

We can’t wait to hear more from Smith as production continues. Stay tuned.

2019 is off to a good start for “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back” fans.

The 2001 comedy’s star, director, and screenwriter, Kevin Smith, kicked off the new year by announcing that his much-anticipated “Jay and Silent Bob” reboot is finally in “pre-pre-production.” He tweeted a photo of himself with producer Jordan Monsanto, taken by his co-star Jason Mewes, and wrote that the three were “the only dopes in Hollywood working on the holiday.”

Ah, how times have changed. Once they were asking, “What the f–k is the internet?,” and now they’re using it keep fans updated on the reboot’s status.

Pre-pre-production is still very early in the game, but it’s clear they’re eager to make the film. Smith has been talking about a reboot since 2017, as People pointed out. In August of that year, he shared that he had written a script in which Jay (Mewes) and Silent Bob (Smith) had to return to Hollywood “to stop a brand new reboot of the old ‘Bluntman & Chronic’ movie they hated so much.”

Smith has coined 2019 the “year of the reboot,” so we expect more updates about the project in the coming months.
