  • An ‘American Horror Story’ Attraction Is Coming to Universal Studios This Halloween

“American Horror Story” will now be able to scare you both on television and in real life, thanks to a new attraction set to open at Universal Studios this Halloween season.

The series is set to be featured as part of Universal’s annual Halloween Horror Nights event, and will lend three chapters of its anthology to a new set of “AHS”-themed mazes. Here’s how The Hollywood Reporter explains the attraction:

Guests will have the chance to be residents of AHS’ first installment, Murder House, and visit with the tortured performers from the fourth installment’s Freak Show and victims of the otherworldly Hotel from the fifth installment. As they venture through the mazes, visitors will encounter iconic scenes and memorable characters from the series, including Freak Show’s murderous Twisty the Clown.

According to Universal Studios Hollywood creative director John Murdy, fans have been asking the park to include “AHS” in the Horror Nights lineup for years, and this year, the higher-ups finally obliged. And as THR notes, if things go well, there’s potential for an “AHS” attraction to become a permanent staple of the Universal park system, just like fellow television show and previous Horror Nights participant “The Walking Dead,” which just opened its own attraction earlier this year.

“‘American Horror Story’ is one of the most disturbing television shows ever produced, and with such perverse storylines unfolding with each installment, Halloween Horror Nights is undoubtedly the only place that could create a living version of the nightmares that Ryan Murphy dreams up,” Murdy’s statement said.

Halloween Horror Nights begin at both Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort on September 16.

  • Lady Gaga’s ‘AHS: Hotel’ Character Was Inspired by Robert Durst

lady gaga, ahs hotel, hotel, ahs, the countess, american horror storyWhen it comes to music, Lady Gaga is a chameleonic persona, adopting flamboyant styles and mannerisms both on and off the stage. But for her first foray into television acting, with a lead role on “American Horror Story: Hotel,” the songstress said she took inspiration from a famous — and similarly murderous — source.

In an interview with Jamie Lee Curtis for Variety’s Actors on Actors series, Gaga admitted that she was as captivated by HBO’s “The Jinx” as the rest of the country, and especially the inner workings of its main subject.

“Every day I would watch Robert Durst in ‘The Jinx’ and his wife Debrah Durst and I would sort of study the practical nature in which he was devious and evil,” Gaga explained. “He just has this extremely practical way of explaining how he’s going conceal the fact that he’s dumped a body in a river and kept it in his house and cut up his best friend.”

Examining Durst’s behavior informed the singer-actress’s portrayal of The Countess, the bloodthirsty proprietor of the titular evil establishment on “AHS: Hotel.” Here’s how she explained it, per Variety:

“If I was going to take a guy home and f— him and then eat him, I wouldn’t know exactly how to do that,” she added.

    “Which order?” joked Curtis.

“Well I know which order I might have to do it in. Well, for The Countess though that order is debatable, right? Because she’s into that sort of necro-romance as well. But during that time, you know, I became a lot more wild and crazy and matter-of-fact about things. Who I am as an artist and person changed,” said Gaga.

We didn’t think it would be possible to find “American Horror Story” creepier than it already is, but congratulations, Gaga, you did it.
