  • James Corden Hosting 2017 Grammy Awards

    US-ENTERTAINMENT-20TH ANNUAL HOLLYWOOD FILM AWARDS
Get ready for “Carpool Karaoke,” Grammy-style.

Variety reports that CBS “Late Late Show” host James Corden will host the 2017 Grammy Awards, taking over the role from rapper and “NCIS: Los Angeles” star LL Cool J, who emceed for five years in a row. The awards air February 12 on CBS.

Corden hosted last June’s Tony Awards to positive reviews. Taking on the Grammys seems like a natural next step, since not only is he a network star, but his Emmy-winning “Carpool Karaoke” segment has featured some of music’s biggest names, including Adele, Mariah Carey, One Direction, Justin Bieber, and Stevie Wonder.

“Thanks to ‘Carpool Karaoke,’ we’ve all been on some incredible rides with James, and The Recording Academy couldn’t be more excited to welcome his passion and enthusiasm for music, both as an entertainer and a fan, to the Grammy stage on February 12,” said Recording Academy President and CEO Neil Portnow.

Corden said, “I am truly honored to be hosting The Grammys next year. It’s the biggest, most prestigious award show in music and I feel incredibly lucky to be part of such an incredible night.”

As a side note, after the Grammys, Corden will be halfway to an awards show hosting EGOT. It’s highly possible he might emcee the Emmys next year when they air on CBS. So, all he needs is the Oscars!

  • Lady Gaga Will Pay Tribute to David Bowie at the Grammys

27th Annual Producers Guild Awards - InsideNearly one month after rock and fashion icon David Bowie passed away, his loss is still reverberating across the globe. Now, a special public tribute has been planned for the late star, featuring another chameleonic performer.

Lady Gaga will perform in honor of Bowie at the Grammy Awards, the organizers of the show said on Tuesday. Gaga is expected to perform three or four of the artist’s songs, in a performance slated to last about six or seven minutes.

Grammys producer Ken Ehrlich revealed in an interview with The New York Times that Gaga had already been booked to perform on this year’s awards show. But after Bowie died of cancer on January 10, organizers quickly planned to pay tribute to the star, and began discussing the possibility with Gaga and her management team. The singer has long expressed her admiration for the late star, and his influence on her career and persona.

“Over the next week, Mr. Ehrlich added, he was contacted by numerous other artists who wanted to participate — ‘some of whom might have made sense; the vast majority didn’t,’ he said — but he stuck to the idea of Lady Gaga solo,” the Times reports.

Ehrlich also told the Times that Gaga’s performance would “be a true homage to who David was, particularly musically, but not ignoring his influence on fashion and pop culture in a broader way.” Musician Nile Rodgers, a frequent Bowie collaborator, will produce the tribute.

We’re looking forward to Mother Monster doing Starman proud.

The 58th annual Grammy Awards will take place on February 15 on CBS.

  • The ‘Frozen’ Soundtrack and ‘Let It Go’ Won Grammys Last Night

The seemingly-endless reign of “Frozen” continued Sunday night, with the flick picking up two statuettes at the 57th Grammy Awards.

The hit Disney animated musical collected a trophy for “Let It Go,” which won in the best song written for visual media category. Co-writers Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez also snagged an Oscar for the track at the 2014 Academy Awards.

The “Frozen” soundtrack was also cited as the best compilation soundtrack for visual media. Lopez and Anderson-Lopez shared that award with producers Tom MacDougall and Chris Montan.

There weren’t any “Frozen”-centric performances during the broadcast ceremony — both of the movie’s awards were handed out at a pre-telecast event — but Taylor Swift wore a dress that looked a lot like Elsa’s, so at least the film was represented in spirit.

Audiences can next see the “Frozen” characters in action in the sequel short, “Frozen Fever,” which will premiere before Disney’s live-action “Cinderella,” in cinemas on March 13.

  • Yep, That Was Kristen Wiig Dancing at the Grammys with Sia (PHOTOS, VIDEO)

    57th GRAMMY Awards - Show
Eagle-eyed viewers may have noticed a familiar face performing with Sia at the Grammys on Sunday night: Kristen Wiig.

The “Saturday Night Live” alum helped 12-year-old dancer Maddie Ziegler recreate the singer’s “Chandelier” video for the Grammy broadcast, donning a platinum wig and performing an interpretive dance. Sia, who’s become rather secretive in recent years, declined to face the audience for the song, instead standing against a wall while Wiig and Ziegler took center stage.

There’s no full (legal) video from the event online yet, but check out a short clip of the performance — along with some photos — below. Maybe if this whole “Ghostbusters” thing doesn’t pan out, Wiig can take up dancing full time?

The 57th Annual Grammy Awards go down this Sunday night, and in honor of the occasion we decided to open the vault and look back at some photos from the show’s storied past. This week’s throwback Thursday brings you ridiculous ’90s and early 2000s fashion (lots of exposed navels), celebrity couples of yesteryear, and famous people randomly hanging out together. Keep an eye out for Christian Slater and Fred Durst sharing some laughs.

2015 may be be the year of performers like Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran, but once upon a time the world was all about stars like Nelly and Kid Rock.
