‘LA’s Finest’ Trailer: Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba Are Dangerous in ‘Bad Boys’ Spinoff

    L.A.'s Finest trailer still
    Spectrum Original/YouTube

Forget “Bad Boys” — the bad girls of “L.A.’s Finest” are here.

Spectrum Originals unveiled the official trailer for the series Thursday, and it shows stars Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba at their most dangerous. The two play Sydney “Syd” Burnett and Nancy McKenna, respectively, two LAPD officers who are paired as partners. The duo has to learn to work together while dealing with the dangers of the job.

And there are plenty of dangers, as the trailer shows. The characters have to prove their toughness, especially when a dark part of McKenna’s past returns to stir up trouble. Still, there are funny moments as well. Watch below.

Union’s character was originally introduced in 2003’s “Bad Boys II” as the sister of Martin Lawrence‘s Marcus Burnett and secret love interest of Will Smith‘s Mike Lowrey. In the film, her character was also an undercover DEA agent. Now that she is with the LAPD, she has clearly made some changes in her life, although she’s still in law enforcement.

We’ll see more when “L.A.’s Finest” premieres May 13 on Spectrum Originals.

  • Best of Late Night TV: ‘Star Wars’ Fans Attempt Football, Jay Z’s Embarrassing Rap Clip

If you’re like us and value your sleep, you probably nodded off into your Ambien dreamland before the party started on post-prime time TV. Don’t worry; we’ve got you covered. Here’s the best of what happened last night on late night.

Since the new “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” trailer dropped during “Monday Night Football,” Conan O’Brien said two million “Star Wars” fans watched their very first football game. So, Conan joked, a lot of those fans now love football as much as “Star Wars.” On Tuesday night, he showed footage from “a local pickup game” with “Star Wars” fans dressed in character, initially playing football with a basketball. Best part: When they break out a football but keep it in its original packaging “so it won’t decrease in value.” Perfect! Jimmy Kimmel is in Brooklyn this week and Donald Trump was supposed to be on the show Tuesday night, but he canceled and rescheduled for another time. Tracy Morgan replaced Trump — upgrade? — and Tracy, Jimmy, and Guillermo toured the Bronx Zoo. Most of the late night guys were on repeats, except for Conan, and he had a similar issue with one of his own booked guests. Zachary Levi was supposed to be on the show but missed his flight. Conan said it’s very rare for a guest to cancel on the day of the show, not a day or so in advance, and not because of another event. Zachary missed his flight out of Toronto that morning. He just didn’t get on the flight. Conan sounded upset, assuming Zachary drank too much and overslept. Most of Jimmy Kimmel’s time was spent with Jay Z, who basically owns Brooklyn. Jay talked about Brooklyn, TIDAL, being a sports agent, and his rap battle with Busta Rhymes in high school. Jimmy broke out an old rapping clip of Jay’s — maybe his first TV appearance — and Jay laughed and said “That was embarrassing.”

And in honor of Jay’s “99 Problems,” Kimmel’s team hit the streets to get “99 Problems from 99 People.” It’s kind of a great segment. We all have something going on, even if most of our “problems” are ridiculous.

Gabrielle Union was also a guest on “Conan” and she, apparently, made her flight. Here she is talking about her unfortunate camping trip. She thought she signed up for “glamping” but there was no luxury at the campsite. Her husband (Dwyane Wade) wanted a valet. They did not want critters or lack of electricity.

  • Gabrielle Union Opens Up About Fertility Struggles: ‘All Is Not Lost’

Seen Around Spring 2016 New York Fashion Week: The Shows - Day 4Actress Gabrielle Union has shared some of her struggles with fertility in an effort to shed light on an issue that affects so many — and has a message of hope for women in similar situations.

In an interview with Today, Union discussed her inability, so far, to have a baby with her husband, NBA star Dwayne Wade, who she married in August 2014. Despite trying to have children of her own for over a year (Union is step-mother to Wade’s three children), the actress said that she wants other women to know that there is still reason for optimism, no matter how difficult things may seem.

“If you happen to have issues with fertility as you’ve gotten older and you happen to have a career, all is not lost,” Union told Today. “There is so much hope, there are so many options, and you’re not alone.”

Union had said in an interview with Redbook last month that she and several of her friends have dealt with fertility issues, and that there is an unfair stigma of shame attached to that, especially when women focus on their careers instead of starting a family at a younger age.

“I think TV shows and films kind of make [out that] the frigid, single-focused career woman, that her career is the root of all problems in her life. That’s just not the case,” Union told Today. ” … Fertility is an issue, period. Having a career is not the price you pay for any ill.”

For more of Union’s inspiring words, check out her entire interview over at Today.

  • Best of Late Night TV: Olivia Wilde’s Actathalon and Kirsten Dunst’s Weight Gain

If you’re like us and value your sleep, you probably nodded off into your Ambien dreamland before the party started on post-prime time TV. Don’t worry; we’ve got you covered. Here’s the best of what happened last night on late night.

The Tonight Show,” and promptly got down to business singing the morning announcements to a fake high school. Two things: one, she’s actually really good at singing. And two, Jimmy Fallon needs to grow himself an actual mustache immediately.

Over on “Late Night,” Seth Meyer’s Actathalon, which basically consisted of her doing an obstacle course full of cliche acting moments. The best part? Her screaming “WHHHHHHHHYYYYYYYY” after finding out her pet fish died.
Over “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” Kirsten Dunst chatted about “Fargo” — more specifically, how she had to gain weight for her role in the show. Turns out she ate “different cheeses and breads” to put on pounds. Living the dream, right?

  • Here’s the First Teaser for ‘The Lion King’ Sequel, ‘The Lion Guard’

THE LION GUARD - The epic storytelling of Disney's "The Lion King" continues with "The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar," a primetime television movie event starring Rob Lowe, Gabrielle Union and James Earl Jones, reprising his iconic role as Mufasa. Premiering this November on Disney Channel, the movie follows Kion, the second-born cub of Simba and Nala, as he assumes the role of leader of the Lion Guard, a team of animals tasked with preserving the Pride Lands. "The Lion Guard" television series will premiere in early 2016 on Disney Channels and Disney Junior channels around the globe. (Disney Junior) FULI, KION, ONO , BESHTE, BUNGA“It is time!” Disney makes the announcement in its new teaser for “The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar,” the “Lion King” sequel coming to the Disney Channel on Sunday, November 22. The movie event will lead into “The Lion Guard” TV series, which will premiere in early 2016.

“The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar” introduces Kion, the second-born cub of Simba and Nala, who is destined to become leader of the Lion Guard. The Lion Guard is like the African savanna’s version of The Avengers, a team of animals made up of the Pride Lands’ fiercest, bravest, fastest, strongest and keenest of sight. As Kion looks to assemble new members, he doesn’t call upon a group of lions to serve with him as tradition dictates, but instead chooses some of his friends whom he believes best exemplify these heroic qualities — Bunga, a fearless honey badger; Fuli, a confident cheetah; Beshte, a friendly and good-spirited hippo; and Ono, an intellectual egret.

    Here’s Disney’s new teaser:

Throughout the movie, and TV series to follow, the team of young animals will learn how to use their unique abilities to solve problems, protect the Pride Lands, and maintain balance within the Ciiiiiiircle of Liiiiiiiiife.

Many of the characters from “The Lion King” will appear in the movie, including Mufasa and Pumbaa, voiced by James Earl Jones and Ernie Sabella, who are returning to their original roles. Rob Lowe (“The Grinder”) and Gabrielle Union (“Being Mary Jane”) star as Simba and Nala; Max Charles (“The Strain”) as Kion; Joshua Rush (“The Adventures of Puss in Boots”) as Bunga; Atticus Shaffer (“The Middle”) as Ono; Diamond White (“Sofia the First”) as Fuli; and Dusan Brown (“Blaze and the Monster Machines”) as Beshte.

An extended trailer for the movie will debut next Friday, October 16. Are you ready to hear Simba’s son roar?

  • Best of Late Night TV: ‘Parks and Recreation’ Cast Kisses Goodbye; Josh Duhamel, Gabrielle Union Throw Food (VIDEO)

If you’re like us and value your sleep, you probably nodded off into your Ambien dreamland before the party started on post-prime time TV. Don’t worry; we’ve got you covered. Here’s the best of what happened last night on late night.

Seth Meyers had the cast of “Parks and Recreation” on his show Tuesday night for their big final goodbye. Amy Poehler, Chris Pratt, Aziz Ansari, Nick Offerman, Aubrey Plaza, Adam Scott, Retta, Jim O’Heir and Mike Schur discussed filming the finale, and revealed their own pitches for how they wanted the show to end. Since it’s also the one-year anniversary of Seth’s show, they sang an anniversary song for him, but they didn’t rehearse it, so it didn’t go too well. What did go very well was their “Bye, Bye Li’l Sebastian” song on the way out — complete with Jim (Gerry) and Aubrey (April) making out, to the surprise of everyone around them. Yes, that is what you are seeing. Love Retta’s reaction: “I can’t look at it. I can’t look.” Tears! Josh Duhamel and Gabrielle Union (gorgeous!) were both on “The Tonight Show” and played “Random Object Shootout” with Jimmy Fallon. It’s a huge waste of food, and someone will have to clean it up, but it’s still fun. Josh is the ringer! Josh talked to Jimmy about his son, and the adventures in potty training. Bella Thorne was on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” talking about the Disney Channel, Woody Harrelson, and when Christian Bale (her favorite actor) recognized her from “Shake It Up.” She also talked about food; she’s Cuban and loves spicy food. She ate an onion on the air. Will Forte was also on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” talking about the sweet beard he grew for his new show, and his love for “The Bachelor.” Will cannot explain his love for the show, but he spent yesterday trying to catch up on stuff earlier this season. Jimmy brought out Chris Soules, who is apparently just always hanging out on the JKL set. Chris brought Will a rose. Matthew Broderick was on “Late Show with David Letterman” and they had the sex talk. Dave asked if Matthew has had “the talk” with his son, and how he would approach that. Victoria Justice was on “Conan” and they showed when Conan and Victoria were at the White House, singing a Christmas song alongside the Obamas, Justin Bieber, Jennifer Hudson, the Band Perry, and Cee-Lo.

  • Best of Late Night TV: Ryan Reynolds’ Baby Name and Jimmy Fallon’s Trip To Saved by the Bell (VIDEO)

saved by the bell reunionIf you’re like us and value your sleep, you probably nodded off into your Ambien dreamland before the party started on post-prime time TV. Don’t worry; we’ve got you covered. Here’s the best of what happened last night on late night.

Did you know Jimmy Fallon went to high School with the “Saved by the Bell” cast? Because he took a walk down memory lane with the likes of Zack Morris, A.C. Slater, Kelly Kapowski and Jessie Spano, and it was completely amazing. But did Jesse utter the iconic words “I’m so excited. I’m so excited. I’m so so scared?” You’ll have to watch to find out.

Jimmy also unveiled the new 2015 Sports Illustrated swimsuit addition, featuring cover model Hannah Davis in all her glory. And you better believe Hannah herself made an appearance! Before walking off stage with Steve Higgins….

Jeff Bridges visited “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and while there he treated “Big Lebowski” fans to a huge treat by performing “The Man in Me” (aka the movie’s theme song). The moment was one for the memory books –– partially because Jimmy was wearing a “Big Lebowski” sweater.

The entire world is obsessed with what Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively named their baby (hint: it’s not Violet), but Ryan straight-up refused to tell the “Late Show” audience his big secret. However, he did admit that it’s a family name, and he mused on how he’s more in love with Blake than ever.

Mila Kunis is also a rookie parent, and with new motherhood comes new bra sizes. Mila sat down with Conan to chat about her XXL breasts, and he asked her a plethora of awkward questions about her “chestal area.”

Finally, Gabrielle Union hit up “Late Night” to talk about her feud with Charles Barkley. And she most definitely called him “the guy that insists on coming to to book club but didn’t read the book, but wants to dominate the conversation.” Balls in your court, Charles.
