We only recently found out “Terminator: Dark Fate” is definitely going to be R-rated, and now we can see why.

The film had a panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday, and with the event came a new featurette. The video shows some of the film’s “grim,” “gritty” footage, and it’s not lacking in action or profanity. It teases what producer James Cameron calls a “fast, white-knuckle ride.”

“It’s R-fated, it’s grim, it’s gritty, it’s fast, it’s intense,” Cameron says. “It follows tonally in the footsteps of T1 and T2 — that adrenaline rush feeling, that sense of terror.”

Cameron, director Tim Miller, and stars Linda Hamilton, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Natalia Reyes all weigh in, and they highlight how “intense” the upcoming film is. Hamilton describes the action as “10 times bigger,” while Schwarzenegger notes that it’s all about “work hard and play hard.”

Watch below — and just so you’re warned, this video contains profanity.

“Terminator: Dark Fate” hits theaters Nov. 1.

Even superheroes have growing pains — that’s one takeaway from the new “Shazam!” featurette. The video, released by Warner Bros. Pictures on Monday, introduces the superhero at the center of the upcoming DCEU film as well as shares new footage.

The video starts by introducing orphaned teen Billy Batson (Asher Angel), and then we see that he is chosen to get the power of “Shazam!” When he says the word, he transforms into a superhero, a version of Billy played by Zachari Levi. The change takes some getting used to, as the footage shows. Both actors, as well as their co-star Jack Dylan Grazer (Freddy Freeman) and director David F. Sandberg, weigh in on the character in the featurette, highlighting Billy’s excitement about being a superhero.

    Watch below.

The superhero flick takes place two years after the events of “Justice League.” It pits Billy against the villain Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Mark Strong). Sandberg directed from a script by Henry Gayen, based on the character created by Bill Parker and C. C. Beck.

    “Shazam!” opens April 5.

  • ‘Bumblebee’ Featurette Shows the Robot as Girl’s Best Friend

A new “Bumblebee” featurette humanizes the robot.

The video centers on star Hailee Steinfeld, but given her character’s bond with the Transformer, he gets plenty of screen time, too. We see what a special relationship they have, and it’s pretty darn touching. Not only does Steinfeld describe Bumblebee as her character’s best friend, she says that “he would do anything to save Charlie.”

Perhaps the best moment is when she asks Bumblebee if he has any family and he points to her. We’d say you’d have to be a robot not to be touched, but clearly at least some robots in this film are capable of strong feelings.

    Watch below.

“Bumblebee” is a prequel to the Transformers series and takes places in 1987. It follows Charlie and Bee after she buys him in a junkyard, thinking he’s an ordinary VW bug. She soon discovers he’s not, of course, and the two face significant threats.

    “Bumblebee” hits theaters Dec. 21.

  • ‘Mary Poppins Returns’ Featurette Offers Glimpse Into Film’s Complex Dance Numbers

‘Mary Poppins Returns’ Featurette Offers Glimpse Into Film’s Complex Dance Numbers

It goes without saying that one expectation of the upcoming sequel to “Mary Poppins” is the inclusion of incredible dance numbers. At first glance “Mary Poppins Returns” achieves those same trappings, but on closer inspection Gary Marshall‘s interpretation of P. L. Travers’ books takes things a step further.

Moviefone was fortunate enough to be on set at Pinewood Studios in London, England during the filming of the musical number for “Trip A Little Light Fantastic,” one of the songs in the film which happens to include an ensemble, live action, choreographed dance number.

Disney recently released a special featurette which includes brief  moments from “Trip A Little Light Fantastic” which only further outlines the sequel’s desire to take the storied character and her tale to new heights.

At 0:51, 1:08, 1:18, 1:26, 1:31, and 1:36, we see glimpses of this performance. The foggy London streets act as the backdrop for the segment, utilizing the light emanating from the lamplighter (also called “leeries”) tools both with physical movement and aesthetic illumination. And that’s only one element of the action. Overall the dance includes bicycles, ladders, and enough street light swinging to both bring you back to your youth and make you a touch nauseous. After all…it’s swinging from a streetlight…one of life’s simple joys.

Jack (Lin-Manuel Miranda) Mary Poppins (Emily Blunt) and the Banks children with a crew of street lamplighters at 17 Cherry Tree Lane

Lin Manuel Miranda does a lot of heavy lifting in the scene, with Emily Blunt‘s elegant charm being apparent throughout. If “Trip A Little Light Fantastic” is any hint into the types of musical acts we’ll see throughout the film, we’ll be first in line when “Mary Poppins Returns” comes to the screen.

Be sure to check out the film when it hits theaters December 19th.

  • Latest ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Featurette Keeps Marvel’s Legacy Love Fest Going

Big changes are coming to the MCU, but until then, Marvel is celebrating its 10-year legacy, complete with a toast.

“Avengers: Infinity War” is leading up to what has been described as a finale in “Avengers 4,” raising concerns that characters might die. In the meantime, though, Marvel has been promoting “Infinity War” by heralding its accomplishments to this point. For us, this has really driven home the point that we’re looking at the end of an era and likely going to have to say some goodbyes.

The studio’s most recent featurette, “10-Year Legacy,” is a prime example of Marvel’s celebration. It shows love to everyone involved in the films and highlights the magnitude of what they’ve managed to accomplish. There’s a lot to make you nostalgic, not least of which is a toast from Robert Downey Jr., who has played Tony Stark (aka Iron Man) for the last decade.

    Watch the featurette below.

“Avengers: Infinity War” opens April 27.

  • Watch ‘Assassin’s Creed’ Stars Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard Explain the Animus

If you have no idea what the Animus is, “Assassin’s Creed” stars Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard have got you covered.

In a new featurette released Wednesday by 20th Century Fox, the actors explain the plot of their video-game-inspired film to the uninitiated, including answering the question of what exactly the Animus is.

Put simply, it is “a machine that allows somebody to revisit the lives of their ancestors,” according to Fassbender. Cotillard builds on that description, explaining that the Animus allows subjects to “take the place of one of their ancestors” in the past. Basically, it’s what she calls “genetic time travel.”

The featurette shows just how powerful the technology is. We get to see Fassbender’s character, Callum Lynch, enter the Animus, and it brings him back to Spanish inquisition. There, he takes over for his ancestor, an Assassin, and becomes a pawn in a centuries-old conflict between the Assassins and the Templar Order.

“It’s just a fantastic concept,” says Fassbender.

It definitely sounds and looks like it. Check out the featurette below to see for yourself.
“Assassin’s Creed” hits theaters on Dec. 21.

  • New ‘Rogue One’ Featurette Shows a Team of Heroes ‘Willing to Risk Everything’

The Star Wars universe is getting another story with “Rogue One” in December, but eager fans don’t have to wait till then to learn more about it.

Disney has dropped a new featurette, and it answers some of the questions Star Wars enthusiasts may have about the upcoming film. Not only does it give a simple explanation of what the film covers — “that text you see at the beginning of ‘A New Hope,’ that is essentially our movie,” says director Gareth Edwards — it introduces the team of rebels we’ll see plot to destroy the Death Star. Jyn (Felicity Jones), being one of the key players, gets a spotlight.

As you can imagine, filming a Star Wars movie was a dream come true for the cast and crew. In fact, “it’s like the world’s greatest toy set,” according to Edwards, who also describes it as “the greatest job in the world.” Maybe the greatest in the galaxy far, far away too?The film also stars Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Jiang Wen, and Forest Whitaker.

“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” hits theaters on Dec. 16.
