  • ‘Westworld’ Season 2 Premiere Revived Interesting Fan Theory

The jam-packed “Westworld” Season 2 premiere raised a lot of questions, including one that revived an intriguing fan theory.

There are spoilers from “Westworld” Season 2, Episode 1 ahead!

When the Man in Black (Ed Harris) awoke in premiere episode to the aftermath of the massacre, he spotted a character familiar to fans: a wolf. The creature was sniffing around the carnage, much as it had been in flashbacks we saw in Season 1. Some viewers were particularly struck by its appearance — not so much because it had appeared on the show before, but because they thought they knew it from another show. Fans on Reddit, Twitter, and other social media sites were quick to suggest that the “Westworld” wolf is actually Nymeria, one of the “Game of Thrones” direwolves.

The theory — which also cropped up after Season 1 — is interesting because if Nymeria is indeed wandering around “Westworld,” some fans say that Westeros from “Game of Thrones” could be one of the parks that Delos Destinations owns.

It would be one serious, surprising twist, that’s for sure. Imagine if Cersei (Lena Headey) was really just a vacationing woman getting her twisted kicks and Jon Snow (Kit Harington) was actually a host. Hmm… It might actually explain some things.

Still, we don’t really think it’s true, and the fans talking about it on Twitter don’t seem to, either. Most are just expressing surprise, confusion, and delight at seeing what looks like a Stark direwolf wandering Westworld.

“Westworld” airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO.

  • ‘Westworld’ Actor Debunks ‘One of the Weirdest’ Fan Theories He’s Heard

“Westworld” is a unique show, so is it any surprise that the fan theories about it are equally so?

For every twist and turn the show has given us, fans have come up with millions more options for where the show could go. Fan theories have been known to get pretty wild, and it seems like the cast enjoys these ideas. During a recent interview with the U.K.’s Independent, Jeffrey Wright (Bernard Shaw) shared a particularly strange one he heard.

“One of the weirdest that I took in,” he said, “was the notion that because the weather never changes in ‘Westworld’ they must be in a biosphere underwater.”

As creative as the idea is, it apparently doesn’t have any credence. Wright promptly debunked the theory, explaining, “I was like, ‘No dude, the weather doesn’t change because we shoot in LA.’”

Fans aren’t the only ones who come up with ideas about the show’s secrets. Evan Rachel Wood (Dolores Abernathy) also spoke to the Independent and shared that she and her fellow “Westworld” actors got together during Season 2 and “compared notes.” Wood noted that “part of the fun is figuring things out” and thinks the audience will enjoy how complicated Season 2 is.

“I’m excited to hear the theories because I think there’s going to be quite a lot of them,” she said.

The upcoming episodes will explore the aftermath of Season 1, which ended in a host revolt. Let’s see if anyone can top the underwater biosphere idea.

    “Westworld” Season 2 premieres April 22 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO.

  • ‘Westworld’ Stars Come Up With Their Own Fan Theories, Says Evan Rachel Wood

The Paley Center For Media's 34th Annual PaleyFest Los Angeles - 'Westworld' - InsideThis is a serious “stars — they’re just like us!” moment: The cast of “Westworld” comes up with fan theories for their own show.

Evan Rachel Wood, who plays Dolores on the HBO series, revealed to the Los Angeles Times that she and her co-stars were so into the plot while they were shooting that they had a group text chain where they shared their predictions.

“The running joke on set was that everyone thought they were Anthony Hopkins,” she told the Times.

Starring in the show didn’t necessarily make them accurate, though. Wood freely admits that her success rate was not good.

“I think I had about 100 theories and four were right,” she said.

She did, however, guess one major twist early on. Starting with the second episode, Wood developed a strong suspicion that she knew who the Man in Black was. When the theory occurred to her, she thought it would be “messed up” and “so heartbreaking” — which was how she knew she was right.

While the actress doesn’t know yet what will happen in Season 2 yet, she has ideas of what she’d like to see for her character.

“My hope absolutely is that she just takes over,” Wood said. “I don’t know if I just want bloody revenge. I also want her to be just messing with people’s minds.”

This might be one of the occasions when she’s right. We’re in for a long wait, but we’ll see when “Westworld” Season 2 premieres in 2018.

  • The ‘Game of Thrones’ Theory Generator Offers Crazy, Yet Convincing Ideas

Not all fan theories are created equal, but they’re fun to ponder nonetheless.

Thanks to “Game of Thrones” fans are in for an abundance of intriguing ones. The website’s theory generator offers numerous unexpected possibilities by allowing users to match any of 10 remaining characters with 10 possible outcomes. The site then provides an explanation of how each outcome could come to be, or have already unfolded, such as Sansa (Sophie Turner) killing the Night King or Cersei (Lena Headey) controlling the White Walkers.

While the brains behind the site openly admit the theories are “crazy,” some are incredibly convincing at the same time. If you look up how Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) could have been behind the Red Wedding, for example, here’s what you get:

In her Targaryen worldview, everyone from a Stark to a Lannister to a Baratheon is an enemy because they all brought down her family. As such, Dany has a motive to eliminate House Stark. On her travels in Essos, Dany came to know Talisa Maegyr and sent her to seduce Robb Stark, so Robb would break his promise to marry a Frey, causing Walder Frey’s betrayal. Little did Talisa know that she herself would perish. The Freys had instructions to kill only Robb and Cat but something got misinterpreted.

It’s out there … but also kind of not, right? Improbable doesn’t mean impossible, and definitely not on “Game of Thrones.”

There are plenty of other thought-provoking ideas, too, especially considering the number of characters and outcomes the generator lets you combine. The tool makes it easy to connect people to events and actions you’d never have associated with them, so prepare to have your mind boggled. Warning, though: Once you go down this rabbit hole, it may take a long time to get out.

  • ‘Game of Thrones’ Star Finn Jones Offers Interesting Iron Throne Theory

Premiere Of HBO's "Game Of Thrones" Season 6 - ArrivalsThe battle for the Iron Throne is on pause while we wait for “Game of Thrones” Season 7, but that doesn’t mean speculation is on hold, too.

Everyone, from fans to the show’s cast, has ideas about what’s coming next. Although his character Loras Tyrell was killed off, now-former star Finn Jones has a particularly interesting theory on the fate of the Iron Throne. During a recent “Game of Thrones” exhibition event in Chicago, he shared his idea while trying out the glorified chair.

Seated atop the symbol of Westerosi power, he told A.V. Club’s Caitlin Penzey-Moog that he hopes it will ultimately cease to exist.

“What I’d like to see happen is, in the great battle between ice and fire, I think there’ll be a kind of catastrophic war which will destroy everything,” he said. “The throne will be dissolved in the process, both physically and ideologically.”

It’s an intriguing idea, if ironic. We’ve watched these people battle for the position for six seasons and counting, after all. Imagine if it all comes to naught.

We’ll prepare ourselves for the possibility, but in the meantime, we’ve got two more seasons to enjoy, no matter who is or isn’t sitting on the throne.
