Opening in select theaters, on digital, and on demand beginning September 2nd is the new action movie ‘Wire Room’ from director Matt Eskandari (‘Hard Kill’).

The new movie stars legendary actor Bruce Willis (‘Die Hard’) as Shane Mueller, a Homeland Security agent who runs a wire room, which is a high-tech command center surveilling the most dangerous criminals. New recruit Justin Rosa (Kevin Dillon) is assigned to monitor a cartel member named Eddie Flynn (Oliver Trevena), and keep him alive no matter what.

When a team of assassins attack Flynn in his home, Rosa goes against protocol and speaks with the gangster directly to save his life. As the armed soldiers ascend on the wire room, Mueller and Rosa make one last stand against the corrupt officers who want to destroy the evidence and murder them both.

Actor Kevin Dillon has been working steadily in movies and on television for almost 40 years! He’s appeared in such acclaimed films as ‘Platoon,’ and ‘The Doors,’ both directed by Oscar-winner Oliver Stone, and on classic TV programs like ‘NYPD Blue,’ ’24,’ and ‘The Simpsons.’

But the actor is probably best known for his role as Johnny “Drama” Chase on HBO’s hit series ‘Entourage’ and the movie adaption of the same name.

Moviefone recently had the pleasure of speaking with Kevin Dillon about his work on ‘Wire Room,’ working with Bruce Willis, his approach to his character, the challenges of acting by himself at times, shooting the entire movie in one week, and exactly what a wire room really is!

Moviefone: To begin with, how did you get involved with this project?

Kevin Dillon: You know what? It was a straight up offer. The way I like them. Sometimes I have to audition for things. This was an offer. I read the script. I thought it had some cool plot twist and turns. I wanted to add as much humor wherever I could.

They said, “Bruce Willis is going to do it,” the legend! So, I said, yes. I did a movie with Bruce before, but I didn’t get to act with him. This time I did. He’s great. I’m a big Bruce Willis fan, love the guy.

MF: Can you talk about your research for this movie? Did you learn a lot about real wire rooms and how they work?

KD: I knew nothing about wire rooms beforehand. I didn’t even know they existed. I didn’t have a lot of time to prep on it. Just for anyone out there, a wire room is when the CIA or the FBI has to have wires in certain rooms when they spy on people, they record it all in one room. That’s where my character finds himself, doing wire room duty. It’s his first day and things get crazy.

MF: How would you describe your character and your approach to playing him?

KD: I look at my character, Justin, as he’s a screw up. He used to work with the secret service. It’s backstory, it’s not in the script, but I like to think that he screwed up because he doesn’t listen. He won’t listen to what they tell him to do. I believe he got let go, and that’s why he is stuck working in a wire room, which is kind of like a demotion in a way. He, once again, doesn’t listen to Bruce and he gets in trouble again.

MF: You have a lot of scenes in the movie where you are acting in a room alone or on the phone. Can you talk about the challenges of acting without another performer to play off of?

KD: Yeah, it’s tough. It really is. Because you’re looking at screens and you’re seeing all this action that’s not there. It’s a blank screen, so you got to use your imagination a little bit. I was lucky to have Oliver Trevena come in and run lines with me, so we were able to kind of build up a little chemistry, even though we weren’t on film together.

I thought he did a great job. I thought we had some chemistry. It was definitely challenging to do a movie like this. We did it in seven days. We did my stuff in five days, so, it’s unbelievable what we got done in that time period.

MF: That’s shocking! Is that the fastest movie production you have ever worked on?

KD: Well, I did a seven-day movie with the same production company, called ‘Hot Seat.’ That was amazing that we did that. These guys know how to get it done and they knew I could get it done, so they brought me in on this one. It’s a real challenge and I actually like stepping up to it. You got to really be on your game.

MF: What was it like working with director Matt Eskandari on such a fast shoot?

KD: Oh man, he’s the best. Very few guys could have done this. He’s open to ideas. He’s open to improv, and we had lots of that on the set. He just has a real vision. I saw it last night for the first time, I didn’t know all the things he had going on. He had a lot of cool directorial tricks. When the bombs go off, you actually feel dizzy from the bomb going off. I mean, he just did some really cool things as director.

MF: Finally, the movie concludes in a way that is open ended, is this a character you would be interested in revisiting in the future?

KD: Oh, hell yeah. Justin, he’s going to hunt him down. He said, “I will track you down.” And he’s a man of his words.

When “Entourage” hits theaters on June 3, it comes with a boatload of celebrity cameos, including Liam Neeson and Tom Brady. This is both a tradition for the HBO series-turned-feature film and for Hollywood itself, having stars pop up unexpectedly in films — especially in “The Muppets” and any comedy with Will Ferrell, Ben Stiller or Mike Myers.

It was hard work, but we narrowed down our list of movie cameos to some of the biggest, most memorable cameos of all time. SPOILERS, obviously, for “This is the End,” “Zombieland,” “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues” and more.

  • 9 Things You Need to Know About the ‘Entourage’ Movie

    %Slideshow-282276%
The gang is back in the “Entourage” movie, which picks up about seven months after the series finale and finds everyone living a whole lot larger with Ari (Jeremy Piven) running a studio and Vince (Adrian Grenier) directing his first movie. That’s Hollywood.

Last year, we were invited to “Turtle’s Malibu beach house” set, where we chatted with stars Grenier, Kevin Connolly, Kevin Dillon, Jerry Ferrara, and director Doug Ellin. Here’s the vital info we learned about the big-screen baller reunion, which hits theaters June 3rd.

    1. Vince is now a director.
The movie is called “Hyde,” a modern-day version of “Jekyll and Hyde,” where Dr. Hyde is a Tony Stark-style genius chemist “with a dark side,” according to production designer Chase Harlan. E is producing, Vince is directing, and Drama’s got a small role. “The guys have a lot riding on this new movie, and because it’s Ari’s first movie at the studio, the stakes are very high for all the characters,” says Connolly. Harlan says the movie-within-a-movie is full of “all kinds of crazy, drug-fueled, violent, sexual mayhem. Hopefully, we’ll get to see it.”

    2. Turtle is rich!
Turtle now resides in a palatial Malibu beach pad, which is actually in Palos Verdes. “I guess after eight years, he finally grew up; it’s nice,” says Ferrara. “But I feel like he probably rents it and his furniture is all staged.” He adds, “I’ll miss the older guy who’s grinding it out, making $200 a week driving. But, what I love about it is he’s made all this money and he still drives the guys around. He still picks Vince up and drives around in his Escalade, which I wouldn’t have any other way.”

    3. Vince is now living in Madonna’s old Hollywood Hills home.
“It’s funny, because I was on a run up through the hills and I was just looking at the house and was like ‘Wow, I’ve never been in there. I’d love to go in there sometime.’ And then, Monday morning, there I am, inside the house,” says Grenier. “I can’t believe that I’m competing with Turtle. I mean, what has everything come to?” he laughs. Production designer Harlan explains the house now belongs to fashion designer Leon Max. “The house was filled with 16th century Van Dyke paintings and things. We were like, ‘Yeah, better have a professional take those out before we get there.’”

    3. E’s going to be a dad!
Says Connolly, “Sloan (Emmanuelle Chriqui) is pregnant and ready to pop, but she still hasn’t taken me back. She’s having a hard time getting over the mother-in-law thing. Which, who could blame her, right? So, it’s me preparing for the baby and there’s a few mishaps along the way. And a few other ladies, which has been interesting to shoot. But Sloan is who he wants and he wants to try to get his family back together.”

    4. Drama’s still Drama.
Explains Dillon, “Drama has not really [evolved]. At times he’ll get there and fall back down. That’s what makes him fun though, you know? Drama is always teetering on the edge of complete failure. ‘Hyde’ is a major motion picture, and he feels like this part maybe could be the one that could take him to the next level.” That is, if Drama even makes the final cut.

    5. Turtle is dating MMA fighter Ronda Rousey.
“I kind of ask her out and it becomes like a business deal and she gets confused by that, thinking that I actually wanted to date her and kind of normal, blue-collar guys never really ask her out; they’re intimidated,” explains Ferrara. “So it’s definitely a good little love story, romantic angle with her. I think it’s going to be pretty cool. I’ve been a fan of hers for years now and she’s the real deal, both in and out of the ring.” Does she end up kicking his ass? “There will be fighting. There will be blood, yes. And it’s going to be mine,” laughs Ferrara.

    6. There are cameos galore.
As the trailer shows, everyone from Liam Neeson to Haley Joel Osment shows up. But the bar was set even higher in terms of cameos for the movie. “When the show first started, we begged people to do cameos and the first few were favors. Now it’s, ‘Hey, I want to do the movie.’ Bob Saget came with an idea and he got in. So it’s really like, ‘What are you thinking? Are you OK with poking fun at yourself?’” Connolly personally lined up the Piers Morgan cameo. “He always told me that he was a big fan of the show. So then Doug was like, ‘Piers Morgan has seen every episode and he passed the trivia test.’ I asked him a few questions to see if he was bullsh*tting me or not. He’s seen every episode. So yeah, that’s it.”

    7. Ari is still dishing out abuse.
“The dynamic hasn’t changed much,” says Connolly of Ari’s feelings for E. “He’s got a lot to say. The fans that love to hear Ari rip into E will not be disappointed.”

    8. The pressure is on to live up to that other hit HBO TV-show-turned-movie.
“We have to live up to ‘Sex and the City,’ which obviously is, I think, the second most successful R-rated comedy ever made,” director Doug Ellin said. “So we’re just trying to make a good movie and whatever happens at the box office happens, there’s nothing we can do to control it.”

    9. Expect the movie to be a super-sized episode.
“It’s basically an episode on steroids,” says Connolly. “People always complained that the episodes were too short, so now they can’t complain.” Adds Dillon, “Eight seasons didn’t feel like enough for me. It felt like we could have gotten ten. Now with this movie it feels like we’re doing another season in a way, all wrapped up in one, which is cool.” Says Ferrara. “[Sometimes] it literally feels like nothing has changed, this is just season nine, absolutely.”the entourage movie
