Emma Watson Shares First Cast Photo From Greta Gerwig’s ‘Little Women’

    STX Entertainment

Greta Gerwig‘s upcoming adaptation of classic novelLittle Women” has some serious star power, and one of its biggest names just shared a first look at the titular cast in action.

Emma Watson, who plays eldest sister Meg March in the flick, offered fans a behind the scenes glimpse of the new take on the beloved book. And just like the women depicted on screen, it appears that this bunch is extremely close.

In the photo, Watson, writer-director Gerwig, Saoirse Ronan (Jo March), Florence Pugh (Amy March), Eliza Scanlen (Beth March), and Timothee Chalamet (Theodore “Laurie” Laurence) are all smiles. It appears that this picture was snapped during the filming of the scene where the sisters act out one of Jo’s plays, and the playful vibe captured seems to suggest that the film will also share that spirit.

Watson’s own words reinforce that notion, as she captioned the snap with a famous line from Lousia May Alcott’s book: “I could never love anyone as I love my sisters.”

Based on the A-list cast alone, audiences will surely love this adaptation, too. The rest of the starry ensemble includes Meryl Streep (Aunt March), Laura Dern (Marmee), Bob Odenkirk, and Chris Cooper.

“Little Women” is set to open on December 25, 2019.

  • Emma Stone Mistaken for Emma Watson in Hilarious ‘Billy on the Street’ Video

Someone needs to just cast both Emmas in a movie — Emma Watson on one side, Emma Stone on the other.

Maybe it’s a horror movie. Maybe it’s a superhero movie. Maybe it’s a romantic comedy and they fall in love in the end.

Either way, this feels like it’s leading somewhere.

Billy Eichner just returned with more “Billy on the Street” — ambushing random people on sidewalks with random questions, and then yelling at them as he runs away.

It doesn’t sound like it should work, but it’s awesome.

In his newest video, Billy acknowledged all the serious questions facing the country today … so he decided to ask New Yorkers if they agree that Emma Stone should join Instagram. The result was amazing on so many levels. Poor Emma Stone just seemed so sweet and awkward, and some of the fans on the street were classic.

When one guy was asked for his favorite Emma Stone movie, he said “Harry Potter.”

    Billy: “That’s Emma WATSON.”

    Emma: “That’s OK.”

Billy [angry whisper to Emma Stone]: “Why couldn’t you be Emma Watson?”

Funny he should say that. Emma Watson was originally attached to the “La La Land” role that ultimately got Emma Stone her Oscar. More recently, Emma Watson was announced to replace Emma Stone in “Little Women.” They are locked in a Hollywood dance. Now we just have to get them their own franchise — and maybe throw Emma Roberts into the triangle.

Watch the whole thing, and keep going, keep going, keep going to the end for Emma Stone’s never-ending horror face:

    Paramount

One Emma’s loss is another Emma’s gain.

Emma Watson is in talks to join Greta Gerwig‘s adaptation of “Little Women.” She’s rumored to be playing the role intended for Emma Stone, that of eldest sister Meg March. (Previously played by Trini Alvarado in the 1994 version and Janet Leigh in the 1949 film.)

The production has already locked in Meryl Streep, Laura Dern, Saoirse Ronan, Timothee Chalamet, and Florence Pugh for the umpteenth version of the beloved Louisa May Alcott novel. (Making this both a “Lady Bird” reunion and a “Big Little Lies” reunion.)

The reason Emma Stone dropped out? She’ll be too busy promoting her award-seasons film “The Favourite,” according to Variety.

The new film from “The Lobster” director  Yorgos Lanthimos is a tale of court intrigue set in 18th century England starring Rachel Weisz and Olivia Colman. It debuts at the Venice Film Festival on August 30 and hits select theaters on November 23.

Gerwig’s “Little Women” is scheduled to be released December 25, 2019.

  • Emma Watson & Chord Overstreet Seem to Be Dating, Bringing ‘Glee’ to ‘Harry Potter’ Fans

“Glee” fans are enjoying the crossover romance of their dreams.

Emma Watson and Chord Overstreet were seen exiting Vanity Fair’s Oscars afterparty together on Sunday. They had previously been seen at a concert together in February. An “insider” told Page Six, “It’s crazy but, yes, they are seeing each other, although Emma wants to keep things quiet and private.” However, another source insisted, “They are friendly, but are not in a relationship.”

    US-OSCARS-VANITY FAIR

That “not in a relationship” quote came out on March 8. But on March 9, photos started making the rounds of the two actors holding hands:

Those look like professional photos — paparazzi shots, but definitely not suggesting “Emma wants to keep things quiet and private.” Not saying the romance is fake, but the photos don’t look like someone just happened to spot them.

Anyway, fans had big reactions to the musical theater dream team:

According to Page Six, Watson, 27, most recently dated Silicon Valley tech company manager William “Mack” Knight for two years, breaking up in late 2017. Chord, 29, was previously linked to another Emma, Emma Roberts.

  • ‘Beauty and the Beast’ Helped Calm Jennifer Lawrence After Plane Emergency Terror

Jennifer Lawrence takes comfort from Disney movies, just like us.

You may recall reading the news last June that Lawrence’s private plane had to make an emergency landing after a flight out of her native Kentucky. One of the engines failed at 31,000 feet and as they prepared to make an emergency landing, the other engine failed. The pilots heroically landed safely in Buffalo, New York, and the plane was met by many emergency vehicles on the ground.

There were no physical injuries, thankfully, but JLaw was left with some psychological scars.

US-OSCARS-ARRIVALSLawrence is on the new cover of Vanity Fair, and she said the terrifying emergency landing sent her into therapy for the first time to combat her post-traumatic stress. And Disney apparently provided another kind of therapy.

Here’s more from that part of the interview:

“And every time she got on a plane in the aftermath, to soothe her nerves she watched Disney movies on rotation. ‘Thank you, Emma Watson, for Beauty and the Beast,’ she says. ‘I’ve seen it six or seven times. If anybody has any questions about it, come to me.’”

“Beauty and the Beast” was released on DVD on June 6th, 2017, which is just days before Jennifer Lawrence’s plane crash. So the timing was perfect.

This is why Emma Watson doesn’t deserve grief for a misspelled temporary tattoo. Belle is out there really helping people overcome trauma. Even if that person is JLaw — who can’t seem to get out of her own way and just launched a new feud with a reality TV star by calling her the c-word on television. Still.

  • Emma Watson Shows Off New Time’s Up Tattoo (Which Is Misspelled)

But it’s only temporary anyway. And she still got the message across.

After the 2018 Oscars, “Beauty and the Beast” belle Emma Watson showed off her new tattoo at the Vanity Fair after-party. The black cursive tat isn’t permanent, but it reads “Times Up.”

If she had done the hashtag #TimesUp or something, fans wouldn’t comment. But since it’s “Times Up” without the apostrophe to make it Time IS Up, social media started giving her crap.

US-OSCARS-VANITY FAIRCritics mentioned that she studied at Brown University, an Ivy League school, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English literature. And yet…

We’re all human. We’ve all made spelling errors — sometimes many. Typos need love, too. We don’t all broadcast those errors on the red carpet, but give Hermione a break. She’s trying to do a good thing here.

UPDATE: Emma had a sense of humor about the whole thing, tweeting this reaction:

The big picture takeaway is that Emma Watson is a very public supporter of the Time’s Up movement. She regularly backs that up with action — donating about $1.4 million to a U.K.-based fund to fight sexual harassment, assault, and discrimination. She’s a UN Women Goodwill ambassador. And she attended the 2018 Golden Globes with Marai Larasi, who heads Imkaan, which fights violence against minority women.

    She’s a good egg.

  • New ‘Mean Tweets’ With Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Watson Ends With Ultimate Mic Drop

Jimmy Kimmel’s latest round of A-list “Mean Tweets” may be the best yet, thanks to a classic (if crude) comeback.

Believe it or not, this is the 11th edition of the “Jimmy Kimmel Live” staple, with celebrities reading off nasty things tweeted about them. This group had some great reactions to the tweets, including sassy responses from Jennifer Lawrence and John Lithgow, and this epic final burn from Kumail Nanjiani:

Mean tweet: “Is Kumail Nanjiani’s d*ck multiple colors?”
Numail: “Yes. Every shade of your mom’s lipstick. And her butthole.”

Daaaaaaaaaamn. Yes, that’s crude. But the mean tweets are almost all that juvenile, so it’s fitting.

This 11th round of #MeanTweets features Gal Gadot, Emma Watson, Jake Gyllenhaal, Elisabeth Moss, John Lithgow, Dave Chappelle, Jeffrey Tambor, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Aniston, Jim Parsons, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Jennifer Lawrence, Kristen Bell, Bob Odenkirk, Michael Keaton, Alec Baldwin, and Kumail Nanjiani.

Jim Parsons probably got the harshest one. Michael Keaton’s is great, and so is his reaction. Love that Wonder Woman basically trolled her troll by questioning “Imma” as a valid word.

    Watch them all:

If you need more, here’s the 10th edition, with Ryan Gosling and Bryan Cranston, and here’s the ninth with Daniel Radcliffe.

  • ‘Beauty and the Beast’ Honest Trailer Compares Belle to Hermione & Mocks Brief Gay Scene

Disney’s 2017 remake of “Beauty and the Beast” made more than $1.2 billion at the global box office, but money can’t save the movie from an Honest Trailer calling it “an empty spectacle” and “glorified rehash.” (However, it does star “Emma Stone’s favorite Belle,” since Emma Watson turned down “La La Land” for this movie.)

The honest trailer isn’t as brutal as some can be, but it does focus on the lack of originality, and takes some shots at LeFou’s (Josh Gad) blink-and-you-miss-it “gay” moment that somehow got the film banned in several countries.

They also point out a certain similarity in Emma Watson’s most famous characters:

“Meet Belle, a beautiful book-lover who fall in love with an ugly dude.”

They flash to a “Harry Potter” movie scene with Hermione Granger and Rupert Grint’s Ron Weasley.

    “So… Hermione?”

Burn! They also point out that while Emma Watson turned down an Oscar-winning role in ‘La La Land’ for “Beauty and the Beast,” “she deserves an Oscar for not laughing every time Dan Stevens showed up in his MoCap suit.” Truth.

    Watch the trailer:

“Beauty and the Beast” just arrived on Digital, DVD, Blu-ray, Disney Movies Anywhere, and On Demand last week.

  • Exclusive: How Disney’s ‘Beauty and the Beast’ Came to Life at Shepperton Studios

Chances are you saw (and loved) Disney’s live-action retelling of “Beauty and the Beast,” which was released earlier this spring and dominated the worldwide box office. (It’s the No. 1 movie of the year domestically and has made over $1 billion worldwide, so far.) It was the perfect update of the animated classic, using current technology to tell the story in new and exciting ways and was cannily cast, with Emma Watson as Belle, Dan Stevens as the Beast, and Luke Evans as Gaston leading an impressive ensemble that also included Ewan McGregor, Emma Thompson, Kevin Kline, and Ian McKellan. The whole movie sparkled.

But how did it all come together?

Well, you’ll find out, thanks to a huge array of special features on the home video release of “Beauty and the Beast,” coming to Disney Movies Anywhere, Digital HD and Blu-ray on June 6th. And we’ve got an exclusive first-look at one of the featurettes, featuring some killer the behind-the-scenes footage.

The primary focus of the featurette is the production of the movie at Shepperton Studios, the famous facility just outside of London, which, in recent years, has been host to everything from “Gravity” to “Avengers: Age of Ultron” (and everything in between). For “Beauty and the Beast,” they constructed the entirety of Belle’s village on the lot, along with key interiors and exteriors from other parts of the film. “We only spent two days shooting outside of the studio, and that was in a nearby forest,” says Bill Condon, the director of “Beauty and the Beast.” Thompson, who plays Mrs. Potts in the update, adds: “It was extraordinary, it was like coming to some sort of party, and I hate to admit it because of course I was getting paid to go to this party.”

  • Emma Watson Cheers on ‘Beauty and the Beast’ Opening at MTV Movie & TV Awards

2017 MTV Movie And TV Awards - ShowThe biggest movie of the year (so far) got a new take at the 2017 MTV Movie & TV Awards on Sunday.

With Emma Watson looking on, three “Pitch Perfect 2” stars re-imagined the “Beauty and the Beast” ball to open the show. Host Adam DeVine took the role of the Beast, and his co-star Hailee Steinfeld volunteered to play Belle, revealing that she was wearing just the outfit to do it — a “coincidence,” of course. With the lead roles sorted, DeVine brought out Rebel Wilson, clad in a giant teapot, to play Mrs. Potts.

The audience seemed excited to see the Pitch Perfect gang’s comedic take on the classic story, but perhaps no one was more excited than Emma Watson. She look absolutely thrilled to see Steinfeld filling her shoes (and golden gown). Watson can rest easy knowing that she won’t be usurped in the hearts of fans; she took home the award for Best Actor in a Movie and the film score Movie of the Year.

If you want to watch a portion of the opening below, be our guest. Look for Waston’s reaction around the 8-second mark.
