  • David Beckham’s Son Has Best Reaction to Dad as ‘Sexiest Man Alive’

Imagine you’re a teenage boy and your 40-year-old dad just got named People’s Sexiest Man Alive. Former soccer star David Beckham just got the 2015-2016 honors, and he joked to the magazine about the reactions of his four children, Brooklyn, 16, Romeo, 12, Cruz, 10, and Harper, 4. Basically, they were not impressed.

“We kind of laughed about it with the boys,” David told People, “and the boys kind of laughed at me and said, ‘Really?! Sexiest man alive? Really?’”

His teen son, Brooklyn, has been making a name for himself as a model and photographer (with 5 million Instagram followers) and he gave his dad the hardest time about being named Sexiest Man Alive. “Brooklyn was the one who was like, ‘Are you sure it’s not me that’s meant to be there today?’” Haha. Wait your turn, kid. Just a couple of days ago, Brooklyn joined his father in a charity soccer/football match for UNICEF, showing that he really is following in his father’s footsteps.

David made fun of himself, while showing off his new People cover, acknowledging that his kids were now laughing at him:

When People asked for his wife Victoria Beckham’s response, he said, “I would hope that she feels this way about me all the time anyway! But she said, ‘Congratulations!’”

Congrats, man! Are you happy with this choice or were you hoping to see someone else on the cover?

  • Best of Late Night TV: Jimmy Kimmel Reveals Sexiest Man Alive, Justin Bieber’s NASCAR Race, Conan in Armenia

If you’re like us and value your sleep, you probably nodded off into your Ambien dreamland before the party started on post-prime time TV. Don’t worry; we’ve got you covered. Here’s the best of what happened last night on late night.

Jimmy Kimmel had the honor, once again, of revealing People’s new Sexiest Man Alive. But first, Jimmy had the audience guess who it might be, hiding the man’s face and disguising his voice. The audience first learned that he was taping his spot from London, he has an “accent,” he has never been Sexiest Man Alive before, he’s married to a celebrity, he’s not an actor, he has kids, he has tattoos, and — the clincher — he used to be an athlete. After a guess of Nick Carter (?), someone finally asked if it’s David Beckham. And it was! David, 40, thanked his parents, his hairdresser, his stylist, and Photoshop for the honor. Jimmy asked if he had anything to say to the “gross, ugly losers like Matt Damon who are not Sexiest Man Alive?” David’s classy response: “Maybe next year.” Josh Hutcherson was also on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” to promote the last “Hunger Games” movie and he talked about being homeschooled. Turns out, he went to an “awkward” homeschool prom in Kentucky. Josh also recalled the fake ID Kimmel gave Josh when the young’un was first on the show at age 13. They showed a clip from that old appearance. Josh was so cute! Over on “The Tonight Show,” there was a four-way special NASCAR relay race outside in Rockefeller Plaza between Jimmy Fallon, Justin Bieber, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and The Roots’ Tariq. They each paired up with a driver competing in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship — Jeff Gordon, Kevin Harvick, Martin Truex Jr., and Kyle Busch. It was the coolest nighttime relay race through the Plaza, set to the sounds of girls screaming for Justin. JB won, so that just shows what happens when people Beliebe in you!
Conan O’Brien is in Armenia, so watch him and his assistant Sona visit an Armenian marketplace. Conan proceeds to say a bunch of wrong things, to the delight of everyone. Watch more Armenia videos here. Stephen Colbert, a die-hard fan of Star Wars, has vowed to buy any and all Star Wars products on the market. He showed off his old Luke Skywalker soap belt kit and mocked the new Cover Girl ads. “The Forced marketing integration is strong with this one.”

  • RIP, ‘Knock Knock Live’: The Pros and Cons of Fox’s Quickly Canceled Show

knock knock live starring ryan seacrest“Knock Knock Live” vanished faster than the lions in Africa.

After just two episodes, the show has been canceled. The concept was great; they show up to unsuspecting people’s homes, give them cash and prizes (and sometimes their neighbors get cash and prizes), all with a celebrity host, Ryan Seacrest, they never dreamed they’d meet. But the show was far from perfect. Here are some things I loved (and hated) about Fox’s “Knock Knock Live.”

In just two episodes, “Knock Knock” had me crying. I’m an intimidating, muscle-bound black man; I look so tough when I walk in a room… the plants curl up and die! But still, “Knock Knock” had me crying. David Beckham and Justin Bieber were in the two episodes; Bieber gave a sick girl and her family $50,000 and Beckham gave an even bigger and deserving struggling family $100,000. In both cases, you could feel and see the tears of joy streaming down their faces. In this economy, where so many are struggling to survive, there is no better gift you could give a hard-working family than cold hard cash. I loved it!

My other favorite part of the show was when they blew $25,000 out of a cannon and let the neighbors participate in the windfall of loot flying all over the place. “Knock Knock” gave them huge purse-like bags to stuff with as much cash as they could grab. What a wonderful gesture to include the neighbors in that.

The part of “Knock Knock Live” that I didn’t care for was seeing the crew show up at a nice-looking house in a nice-looking neighborhood. The first thing that would pop in my head was, Why are they at that nice house and in a nice neighborhood? These people don’t need any gifts or money, they should only go to low-income areas. When they went inside some of those houses it looked like the people living there were already ballin’ and out of control. It looks so much better for the show, and is so much more well-deserved, when people who are struggling to make ends meet got knock knocked.

While “Knock Knock Live” had its pros and cons, I liked it more than I disliked it and was surprised to see it canceled so quickly. Perhaps income inequality is the blame. Maybe so many people are struggling to survive nowadays that anyone in that boat isn’t interested in watching a bunch of people hit the lotto.

    RIP, “Knock Knock Live.”

  • Best of Late Night TV: Vin Diesel Talks ‘Furious 7,’ Helen Mirren Sucks Helium, ‘Celebrity Cell Phone Profile’ (VIDEO)

If you’re like us and value your sleep, you probably nodded off into your Ambien dreamland before the party started on post-prime time TV. Don’t worry; we’ve got you covered. Here’s the best of what happened last night on late night.

Claire Danes, David Beckham, and Bob Odendirk were all on “The Late Late Show with James Corden” Monday night. Claire talked about how she can be a bossy dancer when she’s drunk. David talked about how his son Brooklyn has a job at a small French coffee shop in London; he also shared the story of Brooklyn’s first date on Valentine’s Day when the kid was 14, and Victoria made David stay in the restaurant and watch them. Bob talked about “Better Call Saul” and how he can now make a perfect Cinnabon. (Prove it – send one this way!) The trio also played Celebrity Cell Phone Profile – before the show, one of the guests surrendered their cell phone and they used it for clues so James could determined who owned the phone. Fun game, if a bit too long. Still, Corden and Beckham have a cute bromance going. Vin Diesel was on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” talking about Van Halen (they were also on JKL), the first concert he ever went to, dancing for the Beastie Boys, visiting China, meeting Mark Zuckerberg, and “Furious 7.” They showed a clip from “Furious 7” with Vin and the now late Paul Walker. Helen Mirren was on “The Tonight Show,” sucking helium and sharing an embarrassing story. Helen is now in a Broadway play and she commutes on the subway. She talked about manspreading (haha) and one of the worst things she’s ever done. She’s so ashamed. She was with some friends and they were running to catch the train to get to the theater. She stopped the door and her hand was stuck in the door. A nice guy pried open the door for them. Then the subway police arrived and asked who stopped the train. Helen didn’t speak up, but the guy who kept the door open did speak up and he had to leave the train. She’s so sorry and wishes she could find him. Helen also chatted with Jimmy while sucking helium – he had her accept a faux award in that voice. She should apologize to subway guy in her helium voice, that would make him smile. But seriously, hearing her say “spotted dick” in that voice might give you the giggles. Neil Patrick Harris was on “Late Show with David Letterman” for the 17th time, and he said he knows this might be his last time on the show. The first time he was on Dave’s show was 25 years ago. He even repeated his electric mic magic move. NPH also talked about his new live variety show, which needs a name. “Daredevil” star Charlie Cox was also on Dave’s show and he had some food poisoning issues, so he tried not to get sick. Nathan Lane was on “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” talking about Taylor Swift and his heartbreak about Zayn leaving One Direction. “Seth, you think you know a boy band, you give them your heart and something like this shakes you to the core. And then the next thing you know, they’re cutting solo albums and joining Isis, turning into Joey Fatone. It’s one of life’s cruelest lessons.” Kristen Schaal of “The Last Man on Earth” was on Seth’s show and talked about a gassy love scene with Will Forte. Speaking of Will Forte, he was on “Conan” and also talked about the show, his character, his … manhood, and when he shaved a love arrow.
