  • See Joker, Harley Quinn Photo Leaked From ‘Suicide Squad’ Set

Why so serious, Joker and Harley?

Suicide Squad” is now in production, with a scheduled August 5, 2016 release. Director David Ayer previously posted photos of Jared Leto’s much-mocked Joker and the main cast in character, but Ayer did not share the new visuals floating around the Internet. The fan-shot set image below shows Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn looking like a normal hot blonde , pointing a gun at Leto’s Joker, who is sporting Joker’s classic fluorescent green hair.

Here are two versions of the same shot, with captions sharing details on the scene and opinions on its relative awesomeness:

Ayer’s previous cast photo — which was posted on May 3, the last day he officially shared anything — showed Margot Robbie’s Harley in full makeup, and TheWrap noted that this may be a flashback scene to when Harley was still Dr. Harleen Quinzel.

  • New ‘Suicide Squad’ Photos Showcase Deadshot and Harley Quinn, Skip Joker

suicide squadSuicide Squad” director David Ayer spent his Sunday treating fans to two new photos of the team. One was marked “Task Force X assembled and ready. #SuicideSquad,” and the other showed a full-length shot of Will Smith’s Deadshot in full badass mode:

That’s quite a look. You’d never know that was Will Smith in there. Missing, once again: Jared Leto’s Joker, who got his own character reveal last week, separate from the rest of the group. When Ayer shared the first cast photo just of the actors, Leto was also not included. Is he not part of the task force? Perhaps his storyline is separate from the core group.

Nine characters did make the cut for the group photo, with Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn front and center. That doesn’t seem like an accident. This is an “all eyes on Harley Quinn” moment, and since a lot of fans grew up watching Harley in those animated Batman cartoons in the ’90s, many eyes will remain on Harley in the movie. Fans are already judging each character compared to what they’ve seen before or expected to see, especially Harley Quinn.

In addition to Robbie and Smith (who also co-starred in “Focus”), the “Squad” is meant to include Adam Beach as Slipknot, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Karen Fukuhara as Katana (kneeling), Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, and Jay Hernandez as El Diablo.

That’s not the full cast, but fans will have to stay tuned to see everyone’s roles. And maybe if we all play nice, Ayer will share more full character profiles like he did for Deadshot.

  • Fans React (Hilariously) to Jared Leto’s ‘Damaged’ Joker

Suicide Squad” director David Ayer finally gave fans a good look at Jared Leto’s Joker in a tweet shared April 24 in honor of the villain’s 75th birthday. Fans responded to the dramatic, heavily tattooed image with a few positive, many negative, and some just plain funny tweets. A lot of these went right to Ayer, so you have to wonder if he ignored his own notifications or scrolled through them all:

Hyperbolic tweets aside, it’ll be interesting to see how this Joker differs from the most recent rendition, played by Heath Ledger in “The Dark Knight.” When Ledger took on that role, many wondered how he’d ever be as good as Jack Nicholson’s Joker, and Ledger showed there’s room for many different cinematic interpretations. The Joker is just that juicy a part — for the right actor.

Just a few days ago, it as revealed that Common had joined the cast of “Suicide Squad,” which was already filming in Toronto. The movie is scheduled for an August 5, 2016 release, starring Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Cara Delevingne, Joel Kinnaman, Ike Barinholtz, Adam Beach, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, and Karen Fukuhara. There are also rumors about Jesse Eisenberg stopping by as Lex Luthor and possibly Ben Affleck as Batman. What do you think of what we’ve seen of the Joker so far?

  • David Ayer Shares First Snap of ‘Suicide Squad’ Cast (PHOTO)

    suicide squad
The “Suicide Squad” is officially assembled, and director David Ayer has shared the first photo of the entire cast (minus Jared Leto) together.

The picture, taken at a table read, is notable for a number of reasons, including the surprise revelation of some new members of the ensemble. Among the fresh faces are The Mindy Project,” “Neighbors,” the upcoming Tina FeyAmy Poehler flick “Sisters”) and Adam Beach (“Flags of Our Fathers“).

There’s also one glaring omission: Joker Leto, whose newly-shaved visage is MIA. (We assume he was probably off somewhere having his hair dyed green.)

Still, this pseudo class photo is pretty awesome, and it’s cool to see so many stars packed into one picture. They include the previously-confirmed Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Cara Delevingne, Joel Kinnaman, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, and Karen Fukuhara.

“Suicide Squad” is due in theaters on August 5, 2016.

  • Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje Joins ‘Suicide Squad’ as Killer Croc

2014 Dubai International Film Festival - Day 1
Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje may be suiting up for yet another superhero movie: According to TheWrap, he’ll play Killer Croc in “Suicide Squad.”

The site reports that Akinnuoye-Agbaje, who played dual roles in Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World,” is switching comics allegiances and will portray reptilian Batman baddie Killer Croc (alias: Waylon Jones) in the DC comics supervillain team-up flick. The actor and studio Warner Bros. declined to comment on TheWrap’s report.

If true, Akinnuoye-Agbaje’s casting would be yet another big get for the ensemble, which is already stacked with stars. The “Lost” and “Oz” alum would re-team with his “Concussion” co-star Will Smith, who plays Deadshot.

The rest of the “Squad” cast includes Jared Leto (The Joker), Viola Davis (Amanda Waller), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flagg), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), Cara Delevingne (Enchantress), and Jay Hernandez (El Diablo). TheWrap reports that Jesse Eisenberg is also expected to reprise his Lex Luthor role from “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” and Scott Eastwood is rumored to appear as a love interest for Wonder Woman in the flick.

“Suicide Squad,” directed by David Ayer (“Fury”), is due in theaters on August 5, 2016.

  • Jared Leto Gets a Shave and a Haircut for ‘Suicide Squad’ (PHOTOS)

2015 Vanity Fair Oscar Party Hosted By Graydon Carter - Arrivals
Jared Leto’s long flowing locks and bushy beard are no more: The actor has gotten a new clean-cut look in preparation for his role as The Joker in “Suicide Squad.”

“Suicide” director David Ayer (“Fury”) had teased earlier in the week that there would be a development happening sometime on Monday, which turned out to be that Leto had finally decided to give up the Jesus look and get a shave and a haircut for the flick. Ayer took to Twitter to post both a before pic — jokingly asking if he should sever Leto’s long ponytail while scissors hovered nearby — and an after shot, and the results are pretty shocking.

    Check them out:

While we knew Leto had it in him to look so fresh-faced (anyone who grew up worshipping Jordan Catalano in the ’90s knows what we’re talking about), his recent hirsute style had become so familiar that it’s jarring to actually be able to see most of his face. We don’t yet know how he’ll look sporting The Joker’s iconic makeup, but this foundation is a good start.

“Suicide Squad” also stars Margot Robbie, Will Smith, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Cara Delevigne, and Jay Hernandez. It hits theaters on August 5, 2016.

  • Tom Hardy Drops Out of ‘Suicide Squad,’ Jake Gyllenhaal May Replace Him

The “Suicide Squad” has lost a member, with Tom Hardy dropping out of the film.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news, writing that Hardy had to exit the film due to scheduling conflicts. He was set to play Squad leader Rick Flagg, the head of a group of villains forced into doing good, alongside Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Jai Courtney, and Cara Delevingne.

    Per THR:

[Hardy] is currently shooting The Revenant, Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s frontier drama that also stars Leonardo DiCaprio, and that shoot is now looking to go longer than initially planned.

Hardy is also starring in Mad Max: Fury Road for Warners and that movie opens May 15, smack in the middle of Suicide filming. Suicide is due to begin shooting mid-April in Toronto but Hardy will have press commitments for Fury Road that will take him around the world.

According to THR, studio Warner Bros. already has an offer out to Jake Gyllenhaal to replace Hardy, and is awaiting the actor’s response. Gyllenhaal previously worked with “Suicide Squad” helmer David Ayer on “End of Watch,” so that established relationship may sway him to team with Ayer again.

“Suicide Squad” is currently scheduled for release on August 5, 2016. We’ll see if that changes following this casting shakeup.
