Daniel Craig Turned Down $99M to Return as Bond? Not So Fast!
Twitter is currently shaken, not stirredtrending “Daniel Craig” for the rumor that he turned down about $99 million to return as James Bond for two more films. That news came via anonymous sources to The Daily Mail but, shortly afterward, separate “authoritative Bond sources” told BBC News that Daniel Craig hasn’t made any decisions about his future as 007, and “no decision is likely to be made for a while” since the next film wouldn’t be expected in theaters until late 2018 at the earliest.
But Daniel Craig has not made it a big secret that he doesn’t want to return to the role of 007, and fans have spent the past year naming potential successors. Frankly, more people seem to want to believe the news that DCraig is quitting.
One “L.A. film source” told the Daily Mail, “Daniel is done – pure and simple – he told top brass at MGM after ‘Spectre.’ They threw huge amounts of money at him, but it just wasn’t what he wanted. He had told people after shooting that this would be his final outing, but the film company still felt he could come around after ‘Spectre’ if he was offered a money deal.”
That money deal was reportedly £68 million (the equivalent of over $99 million U.S. dollars) to return for two more Bond films, and would include endorsements, profit shares, and a role for him as co-producer. But one of their sources said execs finally agreed to let Craig go from his contract after tiring of his criticism of the franchise. (If he criticized “Spectre,” he may have had a point…)
MGM: “We’ll pay $99M for 2 more films”
Daniel Craig: “No”
MGM: “How about the world?”
Craig: “The world is not enough”

The BBC News report basically said “not so fast” on all of that, possibly because Craig is still under contract. Still, fans are now pushing hard for their faves as replacements — with Tom Hiddleston appearing to be a lead horse in the race, along with Idris Elba, plus Hugh Jackman, Tom Hardy, Michael Fassbender, etc.Daniel Craig Reportedly Turned Down Nearly $100 Million To Play James Bo.. Who could be 007?
Clearly, the only choice is Idris Elba! pic.twitter.com/TGYzkQQU5A

If they really don’t expect a movie in theaters until late 2018 at the earliest, then this Bond race could last longer than the 2016 presidential election.Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook.

Daniel Craig Says James Bond Is a Misogynist
Daniel Craig has been hitting the press tour pretty hard in promotion of the latest James Bond flick, “Spectre,” and he hasn’t been shy about spouting controversial comments about the series. Now, Craig is at it again, calling out 007 for his womanizing ways.In an interview with The Red Bulletin, Craig was asked a series of questions about Bond’s relevancy. While it seemed that the interviewer revered the character, Craig? Not so much. When asked what Craig thought moviegoers could learn from 007 to help their everyday lives, the actor responded with a brisk, “Nothing,” and replied to a follow-up question, “Let’s not talk these films up as some kind of life-changing experience.” Oof.
And the hits just kept on coming. The Red Bulletin inquired about Bond’s legendary way with women, and Craig sounded off.
“But let’s not forget that he’s actually a misogynist,” the actor responded. “A lot of women are drawn to him chiefly because he embodies a certain kind of danger and never sticks around for too long.”
When prodded about Bond becoming “more chivalrous” in recent years, Craig said, “That’s because we’ve surrounded him with very strong women who have no problem putting him in his place.”
One of those strong women is Monica Belluci, who the interviewer made the mistake of referring to as “an older woman.” Craig was having none of that.
“I think you mean … a woman his own age,” Craig replied. “We’re talking about Monica Bellucci, for heaven’s sake. When someone like that wants to be a Bond girl, you just count yourself lucky!”
So maybe the reason Craig could be bailing on Bond is because he’s tired of all the tired sexual views the protagonist promotes? Interesting.
Kudos to the actor for speaking so passionately on the subject, and here’s hoping his Bond successor — whoever that may be — possesses the same progressive politics.

Ellen Pompeo Calls Out Daniel Craig in the Most Random Celeb ‘Feud’ Ever
Celebrities love to call each other out on Twitter, and we can’t help but watch the feuding. But the latest example of an online spat (if you could even call it that) between famous people has us scratching our heads over its randomness.Ellen Pompeo, a.k.a. Meredith Grey, has fired (some pretty tame) shots at Daniel Craig, of all people. Pompeo was responding to Craig’s recent remarks about how he’d rather kill himself than play James Bond again, and was apparently appalled.
Pompeo took to Twitter to say so, posting, “This dude needs a reality check” on an article about Craig’s comments.

Pompeo later backtracked on that a bit, though. Responding to a fan comment about how the media tends to twist famous people’s words, Pompeo agreed, and said that it’s happened to her before, too. (Though for the record, Craig’s exact words were, “I’d rather break this glass and slash my wrists,” when asked if he’d play 007 again. So there’s that.)You are absolutely right! I certainly have been there https://t.co/3vHte187Em

So what does this all mean? Is Craig going to reply with a snarky comment about Pompeo’s 12th season playing the same character on “Grey’s Anatomy”? Vanity Fair suggests that Pompeo’s potential insecurity about that could indeed have played a part in her (rather mild, really) Twitter outburst. The world may never know. But at least we can always look back on this date and remember The Most Random “Feud” Ever. At least until another one comes along, anyway — Twitter is always updating, after all.
