    • It’ll be focused on Donnie’s daughter, Amara.
    • Amazon MGM is backing the series.

He might be focused on other projects right now (more on those lower down the page), but Michael B. Jordan hasn’t totally forgotten about the ‘Creed’ world. In fact, he’s looking to keep it growing.

    Av2GMl48FGtVoKdsPpb9F4

Here’s what Jordan told Variety’s Awards Chatter podcast:

“We’re spinning off doing Adonis’s daughter, Amara’s story, the television show that’s picked up at Amazon. So you’ll be seeing different parts of the Creed-verse, I like to call it. These little IPs are going to keep the universe alive without it being completely reliant on just me to push it through the finish line every time, as a boxer. I’ll be adjacent.”

Following the success of ‘Creed III’, which Jordan stepped up to direct as well as star in, there has been talk for a while about a fourth.

In late 2023, Jordan himself went on the record to say that another big screen outing was “for sure.”

But there hasn’t been much forward movement on that front, since Jordan has been keeping himself occupied elsewhere.

Still, him talking up the Amara TV series at least means it’s still on his mind.

The show would focus on the daughter of Donnie (Jordan) and Tessa Thompson‘s Bianca, who was played in ‘Creed III’ by Mila Davis-Kent. She has to deal with hearing issues (which Bianca also has) and is showing interest in boxing like her father.

So we may well see that crop up in the show. And that’s not the only TV series in the works –– one featuring the Delphi gym as seen in the movies is also developing.

What is Michael B. Jordan working on?

Most recently reuniting with regular collaborator Ryan Coogler for the wildly successful ‘Sinners,’ Jordan is currently busy with his second directorial outing, a remake of ‘The Thomas Crown Affair’ for Amazon MGM.

That one features the likes of Adria Arjona, Pilou Asbæk and Lily Gladstone and is currently scheduled to hit cinemas on March 5, 2027.

Elsewhere, he’s attached to various projects, including a new John Clark movie adapted from ‘Rainbow Six’, and is rumored to be joining the new ‘Miami Vice’ movie as Ricardo Tubbs.

We’ve known for a while that ‘Creed III’ director/star Michael B. Jordan planned to follow that up with another double duty assignment, this time a new adaptation of heist thriller ‘The Thomas Crown Affair’.

    50066

It’s now properly moving forward, with Jordan having started production this week in London.

And the cast –– which previously just included the director and ‘Bones and All’s Taylor Russell –– has had a boost too, with Deadline reporting that Kenneth Branagh (no slouch in the directing/starring department himself) and ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’s Lily Gladstone have joined the movie.

The trade site also offers word that producer Charles Roven (who recently shepherded the likes of ‘The Killer’ and ‘Oppenheimer’ to screens) will be overseeing things behind the scenes, while The Wrap has the news that Jordan’s ‘Black Panther’ co-star Danai Gurira is also aboard.

The 1968 original, directed by Norman Jewison, saw Steve McQueen as the titular bored millionaire, who concocts and executes a brilliant scheme to rob a bank without having to do any of the work himself.

When Vicki Anderson (Faye Dunaway), an investigator for the bank’s insurance company, takes an interest in Crown, the two begin a complicated cat-and-mouse game with a romantic undertone.

In an attempt to decipher Anderson’s agenda, Crown devises another robbery like his first, wondering if he can get away with the same crime twice.

The film saw a remake in 1999 with John McTiernan in the director’s chair, Pierce Brosnan as Crown and Rene Russo as Catherine Banning, the woman on his trail.

Few details have emerged about Jordan’s take on the material, though we presume it’ll be a similar blend of high stakes heist action and unexpected romance.

What we do know is the script comes from ‘The Fall Guy’s Drew Pearce, with a previous draft by Wes Tooke and Justin Britt-Gibson, based on the original film.

Patrick McCormick and Toberoff Productions’ Marc Toberoff will also serve as producers, with Alan Trustman–– who wrote the 1968 original ––– serving as executive producer.

As for who Branagh, Gladstone and Gurira will be playing? Still unknown right now.

Where else can we see Kenneth Branagh, Lily Gladstone and Danai Gurira?

Branagh is part of the cast for action thriller ‘Mayday,’ which has John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein writing and directing.

And he’s written and directed his own new movie, ‘The Last Disturbance of Madeline Hynde’, which stars Jodie Comer and is now in post-production.

Finally, he was recently announced as part of the ensemble for comedy drama sequel ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’.

As for Gladstone, the actor was most recently seen in romantic comedy ‘The Wedding Banquet’ and has thriller ‘Lone Wolf’ and comedy ‘In Memoriam’ on the way.

Gurira was last seen in ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ and continues her MCU duties by lending her voice to play Okoye in the upcoming ‘Eyes of Wakanda’ animated series.

She’s most recently been working on ‘The Fighting Shirley Chisholm’ playing Chisholm, who became the first African American woman elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1968.

And she will next be seen in ‘Matchbox’, adapted from the popular toy line, starring alongside John Cena.

In addition to this new directorial job, Jordan has been keeping himself typically busy.

He has several projects in development, including a ‘Rainbow Six’ film that will see him return as special forces operative John Clark. He’s also working up a fourth ‘Creed’ movie, which he’s expressed a desire to direct following his success with the third (which made $276 million at the global box office).

And he’s also attached to star with Will Smith in the long-developing follow-up to ‘I Am Legend,’ which has Francis Lawrence aboard to direct.

Jordan told Variety last year that he felt like he had plenty of work still to do:

“I still feel like an underdog. I feel like I just got here, like I’ve just arrived, and I have the tools and the things around me to really be on the offensive a little bit.”

When will the new ‘Thomas Crown Affair’ steal its way into theaters?

The movie has a March 5th, 2027 date set by backers Amazon MGM Studios. And with the cameras already rolling, Jordan is on track to deliver.

    • Michael B. Jordan is developing a ‘Creed’ TV spin-off.
    • ‘Delphi’ would be set in the movies’ boxing gym.
    • Marco Ramirez is aboard to run the show.

With the success of the ‘Creed’ movies so far –– as kicked off back in 2015 with Ryan Coogler co-writing and directing the original –– it was only a matter of time before we got to see it expand beyond the big screen.

    20063625

Leading man (and executive producer) Michael B. Jordan made no secret of the fact that he wanted the ‘Creed’ universe to keep on developing –– around the release of ‘Creed III,’ which Jordan stepped up to also direct, he made mention of ruminating future plans.

Those have become reality with Jordan announcing at the Amazon Upfronts that a new spin-off TV series called ‘Delphi’ is in the works for Prime Video. So we can expect plenty more pugilism in our small screen future.

What’s the story of the ‘Creed’ movies?

The ‘Creed’ story begins with that original movie, itself a spin-off from the iconic ‘Rocky’ franchise, and introducing us to Adonis “Donnie” Creed (Jordan), the illegitimate son of the late fighter Apollo Creed (played in the original films by Carl Weathers).

Reconnecting with his legacy, Adonis starts training to box in more advanced matches, and ends up working with Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) himself.

Donnie also forges a relationship with musician Bianca (Tessa Thompson), who has her own challenges, including a worsening hearing issue.

Through the movies, Donnie faces various challenges (and challengers), including in ‘Creed II,’ the formidable son of Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren reprising his iconic role from ‘Rocky IV’) and, in ‘Creed III,’ old neighborhood friend Damian Anderson (Jonathan Majors), who went to prison years ago and has returned burning with a vengeful spirit.

The Delphi Boxing Academy is the Los Angeles-based boxing gym founded by Tony “Duke” Evers where Apollo Creed trained for many years.

Now run by Evers’ son, Tony “Little Duke” Evers (played by Wood Harris in the movies), the Delphi gym is home to Adonis.

Here’s what Jordan had to say about the show at the Amazon Upfront:

“The series that takes us back to where it all began. What I love about this story is that it stays true to what the ‘Rocky’ and ‘Creed’ franchise is all about: hard work, determination, fighting for something bigger than yourself. It’s about family, the ones we’re born into and the ones that we created. We’re building something special here, and I’m excited to introduce you to new fighters that will walk into the Delphi. As always, in ‘Creed’ we say, one step, one round, one punch at a time.”

Marco Ramirez will serve as showrunner and executive producer on the series. He’s no stranger to the world of boxing, as he recently created and served as showrunner on the Hulu boxing drama ‘La Máquina’ starring Gael Garcia Bernal, Diego Luna and Eiza González.

Jordan will executive produce under his Outlier Society banner along with Liz Raposo. Winkler Films’ Irwin Winkler, David Winkler, and Charles Winkler also executive produce.

Whether Jordan shows up as Adonis on screen remains to be seen, but we’d bet good money that he’ll at least grace the show in the pilot to kick things off.

And notable by his absence? Stallone, who has increasingly moved away from the ‘Creed’ franchise and doesn’t seem to want to be as closely connected as he once was.

What else is Michael B. Jordan working on?

Jordan has been keeping himself typically busy.

He’s currently in movie theaters leading Coogler’s ‘Sinners,’ which has been doing great business at the box office. The story of twin brothers (both played by Jordan) who look to start a juke joint in their old home town in 1930s Mississippi, only to discover a lurking threat from some fanged fiends.

‘Sinners’ has so far earned more than $280 million at the worldwide box office, and has been showing incredible staying power, especially for an original movie.

The actor/filmmaker has several projects in development, including a ‘Rainbow Six’ film that will see him return as special forces operative John Clark.

He’s also, to no-one’s surprise working up a fourth ‘Creed’ movie, which he’s expressed a desire to direct following his success with the third.

Before that, though, he’s preparing to direct a new take on 1968 heist movie ‘The Thomas Crown Affair,’ which he’ll also lead and appear opposite Taylor Russell.

Finally, he’s attached to star with Will Smith in the long-developing follow-up to ‘I Am Legend,’ which has Francis Lawrence aboard to direct.

Jordan told Variety last year that he felt like he had plenty of work still to do:

“I still feel like an underdog. I feel like I just got here, like I’ve just arrived, and I have the tools and the things around me to really be on the offensive a little bit.”

When will ‘Delphi’ be on our screens?

Prime Video has yet to announce a premiere date for the show. Since we have zero casting details or anything else on it yet, we’d be shocked if it arrived on the service much before 2026, and likely later in that year as it stands.

‘Magazine Dreams’ receives 7 out of 10 stars.

Opening in theaters March 21st is ‘Magazine Dreams,’ directed by Elijah Bynum and starring Jonathan Majors, Haley Bennett, Taylour Paige, Harrison Page, Harriet Sansom Harris, and Mike O’Hearn.

    Initial Thoughts

‘Magazine Dreams’ originally premiered more than two years ago at the Sundance Film Festival, following which Searchlight Pictures planned to release the film later in 2023 and build an Oscar campaign about the performance of star Jonathan Majors. But Majors’ subsequent arrest for assaulting his then-girlfriend and conviction on misdemeanor charges of assault and harassment (which also cost him his role as Kang the Conqueror in the Marvel Cinematic Universe) led Searchlight to drop the film, which stayed in limbo until Briarcliff – the small indie also behind the release of last year’s controversial ‘The Apprentice’ – picked it up and is now releasing it.

On the merits alone, there’s simply no question that Majors’ performance may have sent him home with an Oscar had events turned out differently. While ‘Magazine Dreams’ itself is uneven and begins to break down toward the end, the film is visually arresting and narratively gripping for most of the way. Majors is simply a force of nature in the movie, his work as aspiring bodybuilder Killian Maddox a vortex of physical, emotional, and psychological trauma that’s almost too intense at times. Whatever you think of Majors as a person, ‘Magazine Dreams’ is a powerful testament to his raw talent as an actor.

    Story and Direction

Killian Maddux is a young man with, literally, magazine dreams: he aims to land on the cover of bodybuilding magazines and become a celebrity like his idol, Brad Vanderhorn (played by real-life bodybuilder and magazine cover staple Mike O’Hearn). Posters and photos of Vanderhorn – who he writes constant, unanswered letters to — and others cover the walls of Killian’s room in the small house he shares with his grandfather, William (Harrison Page), who is ill and needs Killian to take care of him and the house. As we find out later, Killian has been raised by William following tragic events in the past.

Killian’s daily routine otherwise consists of painful, lengthy, extensive workouts that leave him clutching his abdomen in agony while every muscle pops out in emulation of the inhuman standards set by this most bizarre of competitions. He works out maniacally, competes in local bodybuilding contests with hopes of ascending to national meets, and posts what he thinks are inspirational videos online that draw comments like “Why hasn’t this guy killed himself yet?” and “Hella incel vibes.”

It’s clear from the start that Killian is lonely, isolated, psychologically scarred and emotionally stunted; his interactions with the customers at the supermarket where he works are awkward and socially inept, and his attraction to checkout girl Jessie (Haley Bennett) leads to a date that the word “disastrous” doesn’t really do justice to. But Killian’s other interactions with the world, unfortunately, end up in much worse places than his date slipping out the back on the pretense of going to the bathroom: after a dismissive phone call with a paint shop that refuses to come back to the house for some touch-ups, Killian heads there and promptly destroys the storefront, literally hurling himself through the glass windows in a senseless rage that can only be described as primal.

As we find out from the doctor that treats Killian after that incident (which oddly – in one of the movie’s strange lapses of logic – does not end up with Killian behind bars for even one night), he is wrecking his body with the steroids he takes to achieve his physical goals (he’s obsessed with the size of his deltoids, which one judge a while back told him were too small). He’s also decimating his mind: “I control my emotions, my emotions don’t control me,” he tells himself at one point, which is about as far away from the truth as even his delusional imagination can handle.

But Killian is clearly a figure who also deserves our empathy: as a large Black man who can clearly intimidate people, he’s already isolated from normal social interaction to a certain extent, which writer-director Elijah Bynum emphasizes in subtle yet pointed ways (one customer in the supermarket apologizes to him for no discernible reason after she catches him glancing at her). On top of that, his haunted past, his search for human connection of any kind – which leads him to both his labored attempt at romance and his obsession with fame and celebrity culture – and the punishment he puts himself through all lead him down the same dark path we’ve seen in films like ‘Taxi Driver, ‘You Were Never Really Here,’ and ‘Nightcrawler.’

(L to R) Jonathan Majors and Elijah Bynum on the set of 'Magazine Dreams'. Photo: Briarcliff Entertainment.
(L to R) Jonathan Majors and Elijah Bynum on the set of ‘Magazine Dreams’. Photo: Briarcliff Entertainment.

Bynum’s film doesn’t quite travel to the same conclusions as any of those, and as ‘Magazine Dreams’ rolls on, there’s a certain repetitive nature to the narrative that kicks in. The repercussions of some of Killian’s actions are never made quite clear, and during the movie’s third act we begin to wonder how much of what’s happening is real and how much is occurring in his head. After the excruciatingly intense realism of the earlier parts of the film, this more surreal final stretch isn’t quite as effective, and the ambiguous way in which ‘Magazine Dreams’ ends doesn’t match the power of the rest of the film.

Despite its flawed structure, this is still a provocative film to watch, and a striking one as well: Bynum and cinematographer Adam Arkapaw have crafted a beautiful succession of images, often casting Killian in deep blues and reds to indicate his emotional wavelength while capturing every gleaming striation of the formidable physiques of him and other bodybuilders. Jason Hill’s original score complements this quite well, as do the passages of both classical music and screaming death metal that accentuate certain scenes – the latter effectively deployed as Killian races in his car to enact his wrath on the paint shop. The production design also captures the drab, rundown nature of Killian’s world, from the empty, staring windows of defunct businesses to the sweaty, kaleidoscopic club at which Killian finds himself one night, dancing frenziedly among others who have no idea of the human timebomb in their midst.

    Cast and Performances

(L to R) Haley Bennett and Jonathan Majors in 'Magazine Dreams'. Photo: Briarcliff Entertainment.
(L to R) Haley Bennett and Jonathan Majors in ‘Magazine Dreams’. Photo: Briarcliff Entertainment.

The supporting cast here is effective in what are truly minor roles: Haley Bennett brings a tentative grace to the role of Jessie, while Harrison Page delivers an exhausted, wounded dignity to William – a scene in which he gives some long-overdue comfort to his grandson stands out for its vulnerability. Elsewhere, Harriet Sansom Harris is a natural as the therapist that Killian sees, listening to him and encouraging him even as she knows he’s probably lying to her, while Taylour Paige is more or less wasted as a sex worker with whom Killian has an ultimately pointless encounter.

But let’s face it: this movie is pretty much a one-hander, and Majors – for whom this movie would have followed earlier triumphs like ‘Creed III,’ ‘Lovecraft Country,’ and ‘The Harder They Fall’ – dominates the screen for the entire two-hour running time, much of which he spends alone. Not only did the actor clearly sculpt his own body into the tortured form that passes for excellence in bodybuilding, but he brings an intensity to Killian’s volatile nature that is often as frightening and unpredictable as it is uncomfortable to watch. He’s in many ways a truly tragic figure, and Majors also brings his pain, loneliness, and sadness to light in a way that is both electrifying and moving. While ‘Magazine Dreams’ and Majors’ portrayal are both extreme in many ways, Killian’s broken nature is not.

    Final Thoughts

Jonathan Majors stars in 'Magazine Dreams'. Photo: Briarcliff Entertainment.

The release of ‘Magazine Dreams’ brings up a question that has bedeviled society for almost a decade in the wake of #MeToo and its cultural impact: can people pay their debt to society, be forgiven as a result, and resume their lives and careers? There’s no definitive answer to that, and in a way, the movie itself echoes those concerns: can a person climb out of an abyss that’s at least partially self-imposed, achieve peace, and find a way to flourish in the world?

The resolution is ultimately as uncertain for Killian Maddox as it is for the actor who portrays him, and on a moviegoing level, the age-old dilemma of separating the art from the artist is fully in play here. But if you can do that, ‘Magazine Dreams’ is a flawed, somewhat shaky, yet spellbinding experience that encapsulates the loneliness of living in a world where aspirations, connection, and serenity often elude our grasp.

What is the plot of ‘Magazine Dreams’?

A lonely, deeply troubled aspiring bodybuilder (Jonathan Majors) pursues his dreams of fame and celebrity while also looking for human connection. But the damage he’s doing to both his body and psyche soon lead him to spiral down a dark, rage-fueled path.

Cast your mind back to 2016, and word arrived that Michael B. Jordan was looking to take the lead in a third interpretation of the heist caper movie ‘The Thomas Crown Affair.’

It appears he’s clearly happy with the script, which originated with Wes Tooke and has since been re-written by ‘The Fall Guy’s Drew Pearce, as Jordan is now stepping up to also direct the movie, as he did with ‘Creed III’ in 2023.

Amazon MGM Studios has the rights to this one and plans to release it worldwide.

While the storyline for the new film is being kept under wraps, we have to figure it’ll follow roughly the same plot as the previous entries. Talking of…

There was a time when Jonathan Majors was a rising star who looked to be the Next Big Thing. He had been praised for his work in movies such as 2019’s ‘The Last Black Man in San Francisco’, 2020’s ‘Da 5 Bloods’ and had serious buzz off indie movie ‘Magazine Dreams’, which scored praise at Sundance this year.

And then there was the tag-team kudos from his role as Kang (and variants) in Marvel shows and movies such as ‘Loki’ Season 1 and ‘Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania’, with the studio betting big on his character for future projects, and his performance in ‘Creed III’.

Now? All seems to have gone very wrong for the actor.

Majors was arrested back in March on several assault and harassment charges. In the complaint, his accuser claims the defendant “struck her about the face with an open hand, causing substantial pain and a laceration behind her ear.” She also claims he “put his hand on her neck, causing bruising and substantial pain.”

He was charged with several counts of assault in the third degree, three counts of attempted assault in the third degree, one count of aggravated harassment in the second degree, and one count harassment in the second degree.

Neither he nor his accuser testified during the nearly two-week trial, and he was today convicted of assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. A Manhattan jury found the actor guilty of two misdemeanor counts of harassment and assault but acquitted him on two other counts.

The six-person jury found Majors not guilty on one count of intentional assault in the third degree and one count of aggravated harassment in the second degree. He’ll be sentenced on February 6th, with the potential of up to a year in jail, which could be reduced to probation.

With the ‘Creed’ franchise having spawned a successful third entry this year (‘Creed III’ earned $275 million worldwide), the producing team naturally have their eye on another movie.

According to producer Irvin Winkler, who attended Deadline’s Contenders Film: Los Angeles event this weekend, ‘Creed IV’ is in development already –– and the director is someone very closely associated with the movies.

Michael B. Jordan, who has played Adonis Creed since 2015’s ‘Creed’, stepped behind the camera to direct ‘Creed III’, which hit theaters this past March and co-starred a returning Tessa Thompson alongside Jonathan Majors as an old friend of the title character who seeks retribution for past wrongs.

Winkler didn’t mince words when suggesting that Jordan would be back making the new movie.

    Here’s what the producer said:

“He will be. He did such a great job — he was comfortable with the camera.”

Neither production studio Amazon/MGM has said anything official about Jordan’s return, but it’s safe to assume the job is his if he wants it.

What’s the story of ‘Creed IV’?

As of right now, no one is saying anything about what the story of the new ‘Creed’ might entail. And, Winkler acknowledged, the writers and actors’ strikes put a halt to forward movement.

Here’s what Winkler said about the movie:

“We are planning to do ‘Creed IV’ right now. We have a really good story and a really good plot. We got a little delayed because of the strikes, but about a year from now we’re going into pre-production.”

Given that ‘Rocky IV’ introduced Ivan Drago (and the ‘Creed’ films have already revisited that character), there’s every chance the new movie will see Adonis handle his own big new boxing threat –– and deal once again with his aging physique.

According to Winkler, the team worked hard to make sure the third ‘Creed’ fit into the franchise.

“Michael and the creative team had the beautiful vision from the start to create a wholly new and different experience for this movie. It had to be firmly cemented in what we all [know] the ‘Creed’ and ‘Rocky’ movies for… it had to have great action, boxing, but we also really examined what kind of movie we were making. And a lot of that, those early days with Michael were spent crafting how we were looking at the Damian [Majors] character, which is why I think everyone responded to the depth, not only on the page, but also on the screen. You spend half the movie having deep sympathy for him and understanding his vulnerability.”

Following the events of 2018’s ‘Creed II’, Adonis “Donnie” Creed is considering retirement as the undisputed Heavy Weight Champion of the World when his childhood friend and former boxing prodigy Damian “Dame” Anderson comes back into his life, throwing everything into disarray. The film puts the two former friends at odds and Donnie will have to fight in the most emotional match yet.

Helming a popular franchise such as ‘Creed’ is no easy task, yet Michael B. Jordan took on the challenge of being both the lead of the film and stepping behind the camera to direct. The star’s impressive resume and dedication shows as the film balances its action, heart, and humor extremely well.

Jordan kept the tone from the the previous ‘Creed’ films such as the action and redemption arc while adding his own flavor like utilizing slow-motion in the ring. This helped emphasis each punch and by using it sparingly, it didn’t make it feel like a gimmick. Jordan’s love of anime can also be seen in his directorial style. The actor has spoken about his love for animes such as ‘Naruto’, ‘Dragonball Z’, and ‘One Piece’, and using it as a visual reference for some of the fight scenes.

Cinematographer Kramer Morgenthau light the actors in such a unique and abstract way for the final match, using colors like red and green to emphasis what they’re feeling as they made their walk toward the ring. Morgenthau worked with Crafty Apes, the VFX team, to map out the final moments and by using a motion-control camera, the fight was immersive and distinctive.

With a stellar box office and reception, a “Creed-verse” may not be too far off. According to Deadline, Jordan has met with Amazon to explore other ‘Creed’ related projects. No details are confirmed but there are talks of spin-off projects such as an anime series, live-action TV series, and even a story centered on Donnie’s daughter Amara, played by deaf actress Mila Davis-Kent. A spin-off movie based on Rocky’s nemesis Ivan Drago and his son Viktor Drago has also been announced. The possibility is endless when it comes to the Creed/Rocky universe, which is quite exciting for fans of the franchise.

One thing that was mising from ‘Creed III’ was Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky Balboa. Although Rocky has constantly been in Donnie’s corner in each movie, this is the first film in the ‘Creed’ saga to not feature the character. They do mention his name once during the film but Rocky’s whereabouts was not clear, so what happened?

Although Stallone created the characters in the original ‘Rocky’, he sold the rights to producer Irwin Winkler and MGM in order to have the first film made, therefore he has no real say in the future of the franchise. Stallone did not agree with the direction Winkler wanted to take with the franchise, and felt it was too dark.

“That’s a regretful situation because I know what it could have been. It was taken in a direction that is quite different than I would’ve taken it. It’s a different philosophy — Irwin Winkler’s and Michael B. Jordan’s. I wish them well, but I’m much more of a sentimentalist. I like my heroes getting beat up, but I just don’t want them going into that dark space. I just feel people have enough darkness.”

We don’t know whether Stallone will return to the franchise, but his absence was definitely noticeable as someone who had been a mentor for Donnie since the first ‘Creed’ film.
