  • Daniel Craig’s ‘Bond 25’ Paycheck Is Insane

So much for Daniel Craig saying he’d rather “slash” his wrists than play James Bond again.

Craig will reportedly cash a $25 million paycheck for “Bond 25,” reports Variety. It’s one of the biggest movie star paydays in Hollywood history, according to the trade magazine.

Variety also revealed the salaries for other stars, including Dwayne Johnson, who comes in second behind Craig with a $22 million payday for the upcoming “Red Notice.” Vin Diesel scored $20 million for “The Fate of the Furious,” while Anne Hathaway and Jennifer Lawrence picked up $15 million a piece for the “Barbie” movie and “Red Sparrow,” respectively.

Robert Downey, Jr., according to Variety, picked up $10 million for about 15 minutes of screentime in “Spider-Man: Homecoming.” (It’s good to be RDJ.)

“Bond 25” — all but confirmed to be Craig’s last as 007 — has been kept under wraps. We have no idea what the story is, other than Bond doing the usual “fighting bad guys around the world” thing.

No official word from long-time Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson as to who will be directing Craig’s next/final mission, but all signs point to Danny Boyle (“Trainspotting”) stepping in behind the camera.
Craig’s last outing, 2015’s “Spectre“,” was a financial hit but a creative disappointment. It fell short of the box office and critical praise of “Skyfall,” the franchise’s most successful entry. Here’s hoping that Craig goes out on a better note than the one “Spectre” left for audiences.

“Bond 25” is set to hit theaters November 8, 2019.

  • Meghan Markle Was Reportedly Shortlisted to Be a Bond Girl in Bond 25

Members Of The Royal Family Attend St Mary Magdalene Church In SandringhamPrince Harry or James Bond: Which one would you pick?

According to a report from The Sun (via “Suits” alum Meghan Markle to play 007’s love interest in Daniel Craig’s final Bond film. They say the 36-year-old future royal was on “the shortlist” to play the next Bond girl, along with “Baywatch” star Ilfenesh Hadera, 32.

A source said Meghan fit the role of a Bond girl perfectly, since “She’s glamorous and sexy and a good actress” and “the brief was to find a glamorous rising star, specifically someone American or Canadian.”

“Producers had narrowed down her and four other actresses on a shortlist last year with ‘Bond 25’ in mind. But the minute her relationship to Harry came to light they assumed she was out of the running so it soon became a list of four. […] Her engagement effectively spelt an end to her acting career too so that was the final blow.”

GERMANY-CINEMA-BOND-SPECTREThey didn’t reveal who else was on the list of four, but it’s a shame that just marrying Prince Harry would end her acting career. It makes sense that Meghan wouldn’t want to fly back and forth from the U.K. to Toronto to tape “Suits,” but a Bond movie role probably wouldn’t take too long and they could shoot it in the U.K. or Europe.

Harry has shown he’s willing to be a little risqué as The Spare Heir, and not your typical royal, so why can’t she be an atypical royal too and continue her career? Apparently she’s OK with leaving her old life, though, saying in her first post-engagement interview, “I don’t see it as giving anything up. I just see it as a change.”

We only recently got Daniel Craig to go on the record confirming the existence of Bond 25 as his final film. More details — including an actual title and new costars — will be revealed later.

  • Ed Sheeran Wrote a James Bond Movie Theme Song ‘Just in Case’

'The Voice Of Germany' FinalsSo call him, maybe?

Ed Sheeran told RTÉ’s “Late Late Show” he’s actually had a Bond theme song ready for about three years now. He’s a planner. Or maybe he has the magic power to make his dreams come true. He recently did a song with one of his all-time heroes, Eminem, and already pictured how that would be before it happened.

Daniel Craig finally confirmed he will be back for Bond 25, his final James Bond film, and no one has said anything yet about the title, plot, or theme song. Considering Ed Sheeran is just a wee bit incredibly popular, they should consider checking out the song he wrote. He claims “It’s good,” which — of course he’d say that. But since most Ed Sheeran songs are pretty good, he’s probably right.

Sheeran is no stranger to major film songs. He recorded “I See Fire” for “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.” The most recent Bond theme song, Sam Smith’s “Writing’s on the Wall” for “Spectre,” ended up winning a (surprise) Oscar for Best Original Song. Adele’s “Skyfall” also won a Golden Globe and Oscar, marking the first time for a Bond theme song.

Bond 25 currently has a release date of November 8, 2019. So, if they do use Ed Sheeran’s song, it will have been waiting for its moment for five years. Just don’t give him another distracting cameo!

  • Daniel Craig Finally Confirms He Will Return for Bond 25: ‘I Can’t Wait’

'Spectre' German Premiere In BerlinIt’s official: Our long international shaken-and-stirred nightmare is over. Daniel Craig has finally confirmed — on tape, no less — that he will return as James Bond. He also mostly confirmed this will be his final Bond film. “I think this is it. I just want to go out on a high note, and I can’t wait.”

Craig shared the news on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” while promoting “Logan Lucky.” There was some build-up to the news, with Craig acknowledging he’d been “cagey” in prior interviews:

Daniel Craig: “I have been doing interviews all day and people have been asking me and I think I’ve been rather coy. But kind of felt like if I was going to speak the truth I should speak truth to you.”

Stephen Colbert: “Daniel Craig, will you return as James Bond?”
    Daniel Craig: “Yes.”

    The audience cheered.

Daniel Craig: “I couldn’t be happier.”

Craig said he’s known he would return for a couple of months now. He apologized for being cagey to other reporters earlier that same day, playing it cool on the Bond return, saving his scoop for Colbert.

For a full year now, we’ve had back-and-forth rumors about who might replace Daniel Craig as the next Bond — since he was so burned out by “Spectre” that he joked he’d rather slash his wrists than play James Bond again. (Colbert even asked him about that.)

Watch the full interview for a lot more, including Daniel Craig explaining how he got to play a Stormtrooper in “The Force Awakens” (“I slept with J.J. Abrams”) and Colbert admitting he has a crush on Craig’s wife, the amazing Rachel Weisz:

  • Daniel Craig Says There’s ‘No Decision Yet’ on James Bond Return

Rumors have been swirling for years now over whether or not Daniel Craig will suit up again as James Bond, with the answer varying wildly depending on the day of the week (or who’s the hot new candidate to take over the role). Today, there still isn’t any concrete news on that front, though the actor himself has finally commented on the issue, insisting that he hasn’t made up his mind yet whether to reprise the role — and that money is not a factor in his decision-making process.

That was the word from Craig when he spoke to Boston radio show Morning Magic on Tuesday, while promoting his new flick “Logan Lucky.” The actor also touched upon the Bond issue, noting, “No decision has been made at the moment” about a potential return as 007.

“There’s a lot of noise out there and nothing official has been confirmed and I’m not, like, holding out for more money or doing anything like that,” Craig told the hosts. “It’s just all very personal decisions to be made at the moment. … I know they’re desperate to get going and I would in theory love to do it, but there is no decision, uh, just yet.”

Those comments echo the last time the actor talked about Bond, when he said back in October of 2016 that he would “miss it terribly” if he abandoned the character. It’s unclear what’s been holding up Craig’s decision for so long, but his steadfast insistence that he’s still not sure should at least clear up the latest batch of rumors that he’s definitely on board for another flick.

Regardless of who is sitting behind the wheel of the Aston Martin, the 25th Bond flick is due in theaters on November 8, 2019.

  • Daniel Craig to Return as 007 for Bond 25: Report

Daniel Craig isn’t ready to shed the name “Bond, James Bond.” According to the Mirror, the actor has agreed with producer Barbara Broccoli to return for the 25th film in the Bond franchise.

The last Bond movie, “Spectre,” came out in 2015, and since then, Craig has vacillated on whether he’d reprise the role. He’s said that he’d rather “slash his wrists” than play 007 again, but also admitted he’d “miss it terribly.” And there were rumors last fall that he turned down $99 million for two more Bond movies.

Craig’s vagueness on his future as Bond left room for a lot of speculation on who might succeed him, and names like Idris Elba, Tom Hiddleston, and Emily Blunt were thrown around.

The Mirror’s report also notes that the producers are hoping to bring back Adele to sing the theme song. Her theme song from “Skyfall” won a Grammy and an Academy Award.

“Craig and Adele together are the winning team, the ultimate choice, the money spinners,” a source told the Mirror. “It’s taken time but Daniel has come round and the strong consensus in the Bond offices is that Mr Craig is 007 again. As for Adele, she’s more of an unknown quantity but loved being part of Bond, so the signs are positive.”

  • Tom Hardy Wants Christopher Nolan to Direct a Bond Movie

MPTF's 95th Anniversary Celebration 'Hollywood's Night Under The Stars' - ArrivalsSetting aside the fact that we still don’t know who will be playing the titular spy in the next James Bond flick, there’s one name that’s been floated as the perfect director for the upcoming project: Nolan. Christopher Nolan.

The director is Tom Hardy‘s top pick for the coveted gig, anyway. And while Hardy himself has been suggested as the heir apparent to the 007 role, the actor was more interested in touting the skills of his “Dark Knight Rises” and “Dunkirk” director during a recent interview with The Daily Beast.

Responding to a question about Nolan’s reported interest in tackling a Bond film, Hardy said that that pairing made sense, telling the site, “Chris would be amazing” and “a fantastic director for a Bond movie.” And though the actor noted that it would be hard to follow the act of current Bond Daniel Craig and director Sam Mendes, he said that the visionary Nolan would be the perfect person to take up such a daunting challenge.

“I wonder what the next installment of that franchise would become, and I think when you mention someone like Christopher Nolan, that’s a very powerful figure to bring into that world who could bring something new and create something profound—again,” Hardy told The Daily Beast.

The future of the Bond series is still very much up in the air, with Craig refusing to commit one way or another on whether or not he’ll sign on for another flick, and Mendes’s attachment also unclear. Though producers reportedly want Craig to return more than they want to search for a new star, that hasn’t stopped many, many candidates — including Hardy — from entering consideration for the high-profile part.

Could Hardy and Nolan be the new face of the franchise? Better grab a martini or two; it’s going to be a long time before we know for sure.

  • Daniel Craig Breaks James Bond Silence, Hints at Potential Return: ‘I’d Miss It Terribly’

The New Yorker Festival 2016 - Daniel Craig Talks With Nicholas SchmidleDaniel Craig has been noticeably silent as rumors have swirled about his role in the James Bond franchise, and whether or not he’s truly ready to walk away from 007. For months, there’s been talk that he’s been offered a boatload of money to return, that he’s still the top pick for the gig, and that producers have already moved on to any one of an increasingly large number of replacement candidates. So what’s the truth?

It’s still a little murky, but Craig has finally broken his silence on the subject. Birth.Movies.Death. reports that during an appearance at The New Yorker Festival this past weekend, the actor said there haven’t been any official talks yet about Bond 25, “because everybody’s just a bit tired” from making the last flick in the franchise. And while he didn’t give any definitive answers about whether or not he’d be suiting up again for the franchise, Craig certainly left the door open, and also clarified his infamous “slash my wrists” remarks from the “Spectre” press tour.

The actor admitted that when he made that statement, he was simply exhausted from the stress of shooting “Spectre,” comparing the process to completing a marathon. You wouldn’t ask a runner crossing the finish line when their next race will be, Craig reasoned, and an actor wrapping a massive action flick isn’t ready to commit to another one at that point, either.

Still, making the Bond movies has been an overall positive experience, he said, calling the frenetic six-month turnaround from production to release “one of the most thrilling things as an actor you can do.”

“I love this job, I get a massive kick out of it. And if I can keep getting a kick out of it, I will,” Craig told the crowd. ” … The things I get to do on a Bond movie, and the type of work it is — there is no other job like it. And were I to stop doing it, I would miss it terribly.”

While those words are by no means any sort of guarantee that Craig will be back as Bond, they do leave the actor some wiggle room (and perhaps serve as a mea culpa to the 007 producers for his harsh “Spectre” comments). But the actor’s remarks also make it clear that it will still be a while before there’s any definitive news about Bond 25, so we’ll have to wait for his decision. Stay tuned.
