At a loss for what to watch this week? From new TV, we’ve got you covered.

New Video on Demand, Rental Streaming, and Digital

    “The Nice Guys”
Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe play private eyes who team up to solve the case of a missing girl and the suspicious death of a porn star in this critically acclaimed police thriller/buddy comedy set in 1970s Los Angeles. The movie is out on DVD and Blu-ray August 23, but the digital release is Tuesday, August 9. The Blu-ray includes the special features “Always Bet on Black” and “Worst. Detectives. Ever. Making The Nice Guys.” The DVD just has the first feature.

    “Amateur Night”
A self-doubting father-to-be (Jason Biggs) takes a job as a driver to make extra cash, and unexpectedly ends up driving three call girls. During the course of one wild night, he proves he is up to the job of being a responsible father. Catch the comedy on VOD and digital August 12, which is the same day it hits theaters.

    “Nina Forever” (Shudder)
This 2015 British horror-comedy premieres exclusively on Shudder, the AMC-backed streaming service, on August 10. Rob (Cian Barry) struggles to overcome his grief after his girlfriend Nina (Fiona O’Shaughnessy) dies in a car crash. Eventually, he falls for his co-worker, Holly (Abigail Hardingham). Their relationship is complicated when Nina comes back from the afterlife to sarcastically torment the new couple whenever they try to have sex. Awkward! Critics gave this one a thumbs-up and you can check it out at www.shudder.com.

    New on DVD and Blu-ray

    “A Hologram for the King”
In this adaptation of the best-selling David Eggers novel, Tom Hanks plays Alan Clay, a recently divorced American businessman who is sent overseas to pitch a state-of-the-art holographic teleconferencing system to a king. As Alan tries to navigate new customs, he’s thrown into a series of wonderful misadventures. The movie is out on DVD, Blu-ray, and Digital HD August 9, and bonus features include three featurettes: “The Making of A Hologram For The King,” “From Novel to Screen: The Adaptation of A Hologram For The King,” and “Perfecting The Culture.”

Check out this exclusive clip with the filmmakers talking about how they needed to cast Tom Hanks, and stay for the end for a funny outtake from Hanks himself:
    “11.22.63”
Here’s another novel adaptation, this one from Stephen King. James Franco stars as a high school teacher who is encouraged by his friend (Chris Cooper) to go through a portal back in time to prevent the assassination of JFK. The Hulu original series arrives on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD on August 9. The release comes with the bonus feature “When the Future Fights Back,” with Franco and executive producers Stephen King, J.J. Abrams, and Bridget Carpenter talking about creating the event series.

    “Supergirl” Season 1
Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist) is ready to fly into your home — faster than a speeding bullet! — with the August 9 release of “Supergirl: The Complete First Season” on Blu-ray and DVD. Special features include the 2015 Comic-Con panel, “The Man From Mars” documentary, “A World Left Behind: Krypton” documentary on the planet, a gag reel, and deleted scenes.

    New on Netflix

“The Get Down” Part 1 (Netflix Original)
Baz Luhrmann (“Moulin Rouge”) and a team of collaborators put together this music-driven drama set in New York in 1977, following the rise of hip-hop and the last days of disco, as told through the lives of South Bronx kids who would change the world. Check it out starting August 12.

“Ask the StoryBots” Season 1 (Netflix Original)
Five curious little creatures track down the answers to kids’ biggest questions, like how night happens or why we need to brush our teeth, in this educational children’s series premiering August 12.

“Project Mc” Season 2 (Netflix Original)
Teenage spy McKeyla teams up with three other super-smart girls to become secret agents who use their science and tech skills to save the day in this Netflix kids series, which launches Season 2 on August 12.

    “No Country for Old Men”

Josh Brolin, who also starred in the Coen Bros.’s latest film, “Hail, Caesar!,” stars as Llewelyn Moss, who finds the aftermath of a drug deal and decides to keep the cash left behind. That leads both a killer (Oscar winner Javier Bardem) and the local sheriff (Tommy Lee Jones) to try and track Moss down.

    TV Worth Watching

“unREAL” (Monday on Lifetime at 10 p.m.)
“Money. Dick. Power.” Rachel and Quinn showed off those matching tattoos in the Season 2 premiere, but the rest of the season has shown them battling each other. Now, as we prepare for the August 8 season finale, “Friendly Fire,” the female “Breaking Bad” team/reality show producers appear to be back on the same side — the side that’s protecting themselves and “Everlasting” from Coleman and Yael’s exposé attempt. This has been a dark, controversial season — covering race, gender, rape, mental illness, you name it — and it remains to be seen if we’ll end the 10-episode run on Rachel and Quinn’s side or rooting for their takedown.

“The Great British Baking Show” (Friday on PBS at 9 p.m.)
The most positive, uplifting meringue of a reality show sadly ends its current season this Friday, August 12. PBS viewers had been spoiled with back-to-back episodes, but the downside of that is that the season passed rather quickly. Since “Baking Show” is just the U.K.’s “The Great British Bake Off” with a slightly different name, the spoilers are already out on who won this season — which we’re calling Season 3, even though it’s “Series 6” for the U.K. and it aired for them this time last year. Season/Series 7 hasn’t started airing in the U.K. yet because of the BBC’s coverage of the summer Olympics, but it should be airing after that, and then we’ll get to see it in the U.S. … eventually.

    “Hitchcock/Truffaut” (Monday on HBO at 9 p.m.)
In 1962, French New Wave auteur François Truffaut spent a week in Hollywood with his idol, Alfred Hitchcock, resulting in a revered book of interviews covering Hitch’s entire career. This documentary combines rare original audio recordings and behind-the-scenes-photos from the historic exchange, offering an illuminating look of Hitch’s legacy. The doc, narrated by Bob Balaban, also includes new observations from filmmakers Wes Anderson, Olivier Assayas, Peter Bogdanovich, David Fincher, Richard Linklater, Martin Scorsese and Paul Schrader.

  • What’s New on TV, Netflix, Digital, and DVD/Blu-ray This Week: August 1-7

At a loss for what to watch this week? From new TV, we’ve got you covered.

    New on DVD and Blu-ray

    “Batman: The Killing Joke”
From “Batman v Superman” and “Suicide Squad” to “The Killing Joke,” this is a big year for the Caped Crusader and the Clown Prince of Crime. This animated adaptation of the infamous 1988 graphic novel — following Batgirl/Barbara Gordon (Tara Strong) and Batman/Bruce Wayne (Kevin Conroy), and sharing a version of the Joker’s (Mark Hamill) origin story — just premiered at Comic-Con, and had a brief theatrical release before its digital debut July 26. It’s out on DVD and Blu-ray August 2, so you can see if the buzz and controversy were warranted.

    “The Lobster”
There’s a good chance you’ll be hearing more about this film at the 2017 Oscars. The critically acclaimed drama offers an edgy, absurdist perspective on relationships and conformity, and it arrives on DVD and Blu-ray August 2. Colin Farrell stars as Davis, who has just been dumped by his wife in a world where single people have 45 days to find true love, or else they are turned into the animal of their choice and released into the woods. (!) He ends up escaping to join a rebel faction called The Loners, where he meets a woman (Rachel Weisz) who stirs up unexpected feelings. The Blu-ray and DVD include the behind-the-scenes featurette “The Fabric of Attraction: Concocting The Lobster.”

    “Meet the Blacks”
This comedy send-up of the horror film “The Purge” arrives on Blu-ray, DVD, Digital, and On Demand August 2. Carl Black (Mike Epps) moves his family to Beverly Hills for a better life, but their arrival coincides with the annual purge, where crime is legal for 12 hours. Bonus features include “The Making of Meet the Blacks,” the “Hit the Gas” music video, behind the scenes of “Hit the Gas,” a “Don’t Hate Wiring!” parody commercial, and outtakes.

Check out this exclusive behind-the-scenes clip with the cast discussing working with Mike Tyson, who co-stars in the movie:

    “The Trust”
Nicolas Cage and Elijah Wood play Las Vegas cops who stumble on the location of a hidden vault belonging to local drug dealers. Things don’t go according to plan from there in this twisty crime thriller, which is out on DVD, Blu-ray, and Digital HD on August 2. Bonus features include the featurettes “The Dynamics of a Duo: Nicolas Cage and Elijah Wood” and “The Visuals of Vegas,” plus audio commentary with directors Alex and Benjamin Brewer.

    “Louder Than Bombs”
Jesse Eisenberg, Gabriel Byrne, Devin Druid, Amy Ryan, David Strathairn, and Isabelle Huppert star in this drama arriving on DVD August 2. Here’s the synopsis: “Three years after the death of his war photographer wife, a man keeps everyday life going with his shy teenage son. A planned exhibition of his wife’s photographs prompts his older son to return to the house he grew up in – and for the first time in a while, the father and the two brothers are living under the same roof.” Extras include director’s commentary by Joachim Trier, and a behind-the-scenes making-of featurette.

New Video on Demand, Rental Streaming, and Digital

    “The Huntsman: Winter’s War”
Heck with summer, “Winter’s War” is arriving on Digital HD August 2, before the Blu-ray, DVD, and On Demand releases August 23. The home release will include an all-new extended edition, plus bonus features. Charlize Theron (evil Queen Ravenna) and Chris Hemsworth (Huntsman Eric) reprise their roles from “Snow White and the Huntsman” in this prequel/sequel to the 2012 film, which also stars Emily Blunt as Ravenna’s sister Freya and Jessica Chastain as Eric’s fellow warrior and love, Sara.

    “Game of Thrones” Season 6
The most recent season of HBO’s dragon drama will be available for download on Digital HD (iTunes, Vudu, Amazon Video, Google Play, Flixter, etc.) starting Monday, August 1. Bonus features include “Bran’s Journey,” “The Dothraki World,” “Inside Game of Thrones: Prosthetics,” and “The Game Revealed.”

Check out this portion of “Bran’s Journey,” with the cast and crew talking about THAT sequence from “The Door”:

    “Sun Choke”
In this psychological thriller — available on VOD and iTunes August 2, before its limited theatrical release August 5 — Sarah Hagan plays a woman recovering from a violent psychotic break. She’s subjected to a bizarre daily holistic health regimen, enforced by her lifelong caretaker, but when she develops an obsession with a stranger, her demons begin to surface. The early reviews for this one are pretty encouraging, if you don’t mind narrative ambiguity.

    “High-Rise”
Tom Hiddleston, Jeremy Irons, Sienna Miller, Luke Evans, and Elisabeth Moss star in this adaptation of J.G. Ballard’s classic 1975 novel about a high-rise building where wealthy individuals occupy the top floors with the best amenities, and the people stuck on the lower floors suffer blackouts and other service disruptions, leading to class warfare and revolts. The film is out on Digital HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on August 2. Bonus features include audio commentary from Tom Hiddleston, director Ben Wheatley, and producer Jeremy Thomas; an in-depth look at adapting the novel from the page to the screen; a look at the ’70s set design, special effects, and more.

Check out the film’s trailer, which features Tom Hiddleston nearly naked on a balcony:

    “In the Deep”
Remember: It is NEVER safe to go back in the water. In this thriller, out on Digital/DVD/On Demand August 2, two sisters (Mandy Moore and Claire Holt) get trapped at the bottom of the ocean during a diving expedition, and battle injuries, lack of oxygen, and great white sharks in their fight to reach safety. This film was previously titled “47 Meters Down” before going with “In the Deep,” which — fun fact — was the original title of Blake Lively’s “The Shallows.”

“Agatha Raisin & the Quiche of Death” (Acorn TV)
“Catastrophe” star Ashley Jensen plays London PR exec Agatha Raisin in this quintessentially British village mystery based on the bestselling books by M.C. Beaton. In the feature-length pilot movie, Agatha fulfills a lifelong dream of retiring to a small village. Desperate to fit in, she enters the local quiche-baking competition, only to find herself a suspect when her entry kills the judge. Oops! To save her reputation, Agatha sets out to solve the murder. The pilot premieres August 1 at Acorn.tv, and Series 1 premieres August 8.

    New on Netflix

This week starts a new month, and you know what that means — a ton of new titles are arriving as of August 1, and a bunch more are leaving. Here are some of the exclusives arriving this week.

    “The Little Prince”
This is the first animated feature film adaptation of the beloved story, and it’s debuting in the U.S. on Netflix this Friday, August 5. It premiered in May 2015 at the Cannes Film Festival and it was supposed to have a theatrical release in the U.S., but instead it’s here. C’est la vie. The all-star vocal cast includes Jeff Bridges, Rachel McAdams, Paul Rudd, Bud Cort, Marion Cotillard, Benicio Del Toro, James Franco, Ricky Gervais, Paul Giamatti, Riley Osborne, Albert Brooks, and Mackenzie Foy. Here’s the synopsis from Netflix: “A little girl lives in a very grown-up world with her mother, who tries to prepare her for it. Her neighbor, the Aviator, introduces the girl to an extraordinary world where anything is possible, the world of the Little Prince.”

    And here’s the main trailer:

“Funny or Die Presents: Donald Trump’s The Art of the Deal: The Movie”
You may be familiar with this “Funny or Die” spoof, starring Johnny Depp as Donald Trump, since it made a big splash when it appeared out of nowhere back in February. It’s now available for streaming on Netflix, starting August 1. Depp and a dozen other major celebs star in this “lost film” based on Trump’s own 1987 advice book. The “TV movie” starts with an intro from Ron Howard, and includes appearances from Alfred Molina, Robert Morse, Patton Oswalt, Jack McBrayer, Michaela Watkins, Henry Winkler, Stephen Merchant, Christopher Lloyd, Kristen Schaal, Andy Richter, Paul Scheer, Rob Huebel, Tymberlee Hill, Alf, Jordan Coleman, Joe Nuñez, and Jeremy Konner.

“David Cross: Making America Great Again”
Speaking of funny and Donald Trump, David Cross (always Tobias Fünke) appears to combine both in his original stand-up comedy special, which takes aim at the current political landscape in a set filmed live at the Paramount Theatre in Austin, Texas. Catch it on Netflix August 5.

    TV Worth Watching

“The Bachelorette” (Monday on ABC at 8 p.m.)
It’s time for JoJo to choose between Robby Hayes and Aaron Rodgers’s estranged brother, Jordan. Even though she probably made her decision a long time before the Season 12 finale (read the spoilers and see if they pan out), ABC still has to stretch this puppy out to make it seem “shocking” and dramatic. Then we have the “After the Final Rose” special where JoJo and her Chosen One can update fans on how they’ve felt about the tabloid coverage and whatnot.

“Bachelor in Paradise” (Tuesday on ABC at 8 p.m.)
You’re not off the hook yet! The Bachelor Nation train stays in motion with the return of “Bachelor in Paradise,” collecting rejects from the past few seasons, putting them in a tropical location together, and seeing what happens. This season reportedly ends with three engagements (read those spoilers here) and it’s possible one of them may actually result in a real wedding.

“Meet the Donors: Does Money Talk” (Monday on HBO at 9 p.m.)
This in-depth documentary, from Alexandra Pelosi, takes viewers behind the scenes at top-dollar political fundraisers, and chats with dozens of mega-donors from both political parties to find out why they are pouring millions into the 2016 election. The doc debuts August 1, just after the Republican and Democratic conventions, and will also be available on HBO NOW, HBO GO, and HBO On Demand.

    Here’s the trailer:
“Kingdom” (Wednesday on Audience Network at 9 p.m.)
The Season 2 finale of this drama, starring Frank Grillo as mixed martial arts legend Alvey Kulina, airs August 3. Here’s the synopsis for “No Sharp Objects”: “The rematch between Jay (Jonathan Tucker) and Ryan (Matt Lauria) for Jay’s lightweight title belt could not come at a worse time for a reeling Jay. Alvey rescues an old friend from a bad spot.”

2016 Summer Olympics (starts Friday on NBC at 7:30 p.m.)
Welcome to Rio! The 2016 Olympics start with the Opening Ceremony on August 5, from 7:30 p.m. to midnight. On Saturday, August 6, check out the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team from 4 to 6 p.m. on NBCSN, then see the men’s team in action Sunday from 9 to 11 p.m. on NBCSN. The fun continues until the Closing Ceremony on August 21.

  • What’s New on TV, Netflix, Digital, and DVD/Blu-ray This Week: July 11-17

At a loss for what to watch this week? From new TV, we’ve got you covered.

    New on DVD and Blu-ray

    “Green Room”
In one of his final films, Anton Yelchin plays a member of a punk rock band forced to battle murderous white supremacists at a remote Oregon roadhouse. Patrick Stewart shows his range as the diabolical club owner in this critically acclaimed horror thriller out on DVD and Blu-ray July 12. Check out a portion of MonkeyGoose Magazine’s review: “All of this could easily have devolved into ‘B’ movie territory if it weren’t for the amazing cast. Anton Yelchin and Imogen Poots (reunited after their underrated work on the Fright Night remake) make for strong protagonists that you find yourself quickly rooting for, while Patrick ‘Jean-Luc Picard’ Stewart plays against type as the ice cold club owner and de facto skinhead leader. The acting is top notch; it’s easy to feel a connection to the characters and feel that these are very real parts of a world. The cast is a highlight — better than this type of film can usually muster.” Blu-ray and DVD special features including audio commentary with director Jeremy Saulnier and the featurette “Into the Pit: Making Green Room.”

    “The Dresser”
Ian McKellen is Norman and Anthony Hopkins is “Sir” in this British drama film based on the 1980 play by Ronald Harwood, set in a touring Shakespearean theater company. Consider streaming this British TV series, set in the late ninth century AD and adapted from Bernard Cornwell’s historical novels series “The Saxon Stories.” The eight episodes of Season 1 are available on July 10. TV Worth Watching

“Outlander” (Saturday on Starz at 9 p.m.)
Steffan HillYes, it’s Independence Day in the U.S., but later this week we have to head to Scotland for the supersized “Outlander” Season 2 finale. “A Capitol Fourth” (Monday on PBS at 8 p.m.)
If you like to spend July 4 watching fireworks from your TV set, you have options. “The Night Of” (Sunday on HBO at 9 p.m.)

The first episode, “The Beach,” was directed by Zaillian and already premiered online; it’ll air on TV this Sunday, July 10. Here’s the synopsis for the premiere: “What starts as a perfect night for Pakistani-American student Nasir ‘Naz’ Khan (Riz Ahmed) becomes a nightmare when he’s arrested for murder.”

It’s a tear jerker.” He also said new housewives Siggy Flicker and Delores Catania are “great,” adding, “Siggy’s hilarious — piece of work. She shows up in the first episode having just had a facelift. Her face is still healing.” Check out the Season 7 trailer over here.

    Here’s the trailer:

Tina Fey heads an all-star cast (Margot Robbie, Martin Freeman, Billy Bob Thornton, Alfred Molina) in this satirical war film based on real-life reporter Kim Barker’s memoir about covering conflict in the Middle East. There’s also a long list of titles being added to the streaming service on July 1, so check out the full roundup.

    New on Netflix

This week marks the start of a new month, and you know what that means — a ton of new titles are being added to Netflix as of July 1, and plenty of titles are going out the door. Some of the new additions include all three “Back to the Future” movies and the four “Lethal Weapon” movies. There are also some cool original series arriving this week…

    “Marcella” Season 1 (Netflix Original)
Anna Friel stars in this British crime series that started airing in the U.K. in April and arrives on Netflix July 1. Friel’s former detective Marcella Backland is devastated when her husband leaves her and their two children. She ends up returning to the murder squad after 12 years away, but the serial killer she once investigated may be back, too. The series co-stars a who’s who of British TV, including “Downton Abbey” alum Laura Carmichael and “Game of Thrones” alum Harry Lloyd.

“Marco Polo” Season 2 (Netflix Original)
Power has a price. The 10 episodes of “Marco Polo” Season 2 arrive on Netflix July 1. Check out the trailer below to see the escalating battle for the Mongol empire.

“A Very Secret Service” Season 1 (Netflix Original)
You don’t have to wait for July to start streaming a new series. Here’s the synopsis for this French series, available June 30: “At the height of the Cold War in 1960, André Merlaux joins the French Secret Service and contends with enemies both foreign and bureaucratic.”

    TV Worth Watching

“The Great British Baking Show” (Friday on PBS at 9 p.m.)
The most magically delicious competition show — always sweet, never bitter — returns July 1! This season already aired last year in the U.K. (as Series 6), but it’s just Season 3 to the PBS audience. In Friday’s premiere, 12 amateur bakers attempt to make Madeira cake, frosted walnut cake, and black forest gateau. Also, we’re guessing, judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood will offer some frosty glares of disapproval, and hosts Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins will present some quality “walnut” innuendo.

“Zoo” (Tuesday on CBS at 9 p.m.)
Here’s what you can expect from the special two-hour premiere of “Zoo” Season 2, which includes episodes titled “The Day of the Beast” and “Caraquet”: Following the dramatic shift in violent animal behavior, the team attempts to rescue Jamie and the leopard whose DNA may hold the key to curing the animal crisis. Also, the team discovers a shocking mutation that threatens the life of one of their own.”

“Frontline: Policing the Police” (Tuesday on PBS at 10 p.m.)
This new documentary takes viewers inside the police department in Newark, N.J., which Frontline describes as “a poor city plagued by violent crime, where the victims and perpetrators are usually black, and the police force itself is largely black and Latino.” The special examines the challenges of trying to change how officers operate in this community after decades of mutual mistrust. You can check out the intriguing doc on PBS June 28 or online at pbs.org/frontline/film/policing-the-police.

    TV Worth Watching

“Wrecked” (Tuesday on TBS at 10 p.m.)
Yep, this is supposed to remind you of “Lost.” Co-creators Justin and Jordan Shipley said the iconic series was the “touchstone” for “Wrecked,” a comedy offering a new perspective on the whole plane-crashes-on-an-island thing. “On ‘Lost,’ there were, like, 40 people who survived on the island, but you really only followed the 10 most attractive and most equipped [to get by],” Justin told TVLine, “But what about the other 30? Most flights are filled with people who have no [survival] skills whatsoever — how do they grapple with this larger-than-life scenario? And then we unpacked it from there.” Plus, in this version, there is no Smoke Monster and no Others. The first episode airs June 14 with the cheeky title “All Is Not Lost.” Here’s the synopsis: “A British ex-special forces agent leads a rescue mission after a commercial flight crashes on an uninhabited island; the survivors make a discovery that could change everything.”

“Aquarius” (Thursday on NBC at 9 p.m.)

Season 2 starts June 16 with a two-hour (commercial free) premiere combining three episodes: “I’m So Tired,” “Happiness Is a Warm Gun,” and Why Don’t We Do It in the Road.” Here’s the general synopsis: Hodiak tackles a new case involving missing young women. Also: Charmaine takes on a risky undercover operation; and Manson and his growing family move into the home of their new benefactor.”

    Check out the promo:

“Animal Kingdom” (Tuesday on TNT at 9 p.m.)
TNT’s new drama, based on the Australian film of the same name, follows a 17-year-old boy who moves in with his wild relatives in a surf community after the death of his mother. Ellen Barkin plays the lead role of Janine “Smurf” Cody, the character Jacki Weaver played her way to a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination in the 2010 movie. Here’s the pilot synopsis: “An upcoming heist is planned and Joshua ‘J’ Cody (Finn Cole) discovers the intense nature of his estranged grandmother.”

“Another Period” (Wednesday on Comedy Central at 10 p.m.)
“Keeping Up With the Kardashians” meets “Downton Abbey” in this hilarious (and shameless) comedy starring Natasha Leggero and Riki Lindhome, with backup from Michael Ian Black, Jason Ritter, Christina Hendricks, Paget Brewster, David Wain, and more. TV Worth Watching

“The Bachelorette” (Monday on ABC at 9 p.m.)
“Worth watching” is always a stretch when it comes to Bachelor Nation; “watching ironically” is closer to the truth. This year, lucky JoJo Fletcher gets to date an erectile dysfunction specialist, a guy dressed as Santa, a guy who rides in on a unicorn, and Aaron Rodgers’s brother. Take that, Caila! The two-hour “Bachelorette” Season 12 premiere promises to be the wonderful trainwreck we’ve come to expect, and it will air right after the big “Dancing With the Stars” Season 22 finale, where “America’s Next Top Model” winner Nyle DiMarco will most likely pick up another reality TV show title.

“Nashville” (Wednesday on ABC at 10 p.m.)
This is it. After four seasons, Rayna Jaymes (Connie Britton) and Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere) will hang up their mics on May 25. The Season 4 finale, appropriately titled “Maybe You’ll Appreciate Me Someday,” was directed by series creator Callie Khouri and has this synopsis from ABC: “Rayna resorts to drastic measures when she learns that Maddie has crossed paths with a duplicitous figure from her past. Juliette must choose how to publicly reckon with the truth of Jeff Fordham’s death – a decision that directly affects Layla. Scarlett and Gunnar consider parting ways as bandmates, and Will finally decides to do what he should have done long ago – step up as the leader of a cause and a community.”

“Arrow” (Wednesday on The CW at 8 p.m.)
Heads up: Season 4 closes with Episode 23, “Schism,” which airs May 25 with this official synopsis from The CW: “Oliver (Stephen Amell) teams up with a surprising force in an attempt to stop Damien Darhk (guest star Neal McDonough) and his magic once and for all.” Charlotte Ross (Donna Smoak) told TVLine the finale will be “intense, painful, shocking and scary,” adding, “It’s very open-ended for many characters — to such a degree that you will have no idea how Season 5 will resume, and which characters may be returning or which characters will be gone for good.” Not another cliffhanger!

“Wayward Pines” (Wednesday on FOX at 9 p.m.)
Season 2 of this psychological thriller from executive producer M. Night Shyamalan and author Blake Crouch, premieres May 25 with “Enemy Lines”: “As the residents of Wayward Pines struggle against the rule of the First Generation, a new resident emerges from suspended animation to help preserve the endangered human race.” Jason Patric, Djimon Hounsou, and Hope Davis star, with Terrence Howard and Carla Gugino in guest appearances.

    TV Worth Watching

“Quantico” (Sunday on ABC at 10 p.m.)
This is a huge week for season finales, including “Damien,” “Grandfathered,” “New Girl,” “The Grinder,” “Underground, “The Big Bang Theory,” “Scandal,” “2 Broke Girls,” “The Vampire Diaries,” “Hawaii Five-O,” and “Quantico.” Very few freshman series have success like Priyanka Chopra’s “Quantico,” and even though it has slipped in the ratings over the course of Season 1, it is still keeping fans talking, and guessing. The finale, Episode 22 is called “Yes,” with this official synopsis from ABC: “It’s graduation day for the NATS of Quantico, while, in the future, Alex (Chopra) and her team find themselves head-to-head with the terrorist.”

“The Last Man on Earth” (Sunday on FOX at 9:30 p.m.)
Thank Tandy this show is coming back for a third season, ’cause it is just not in front of our half-shaven faces nearly enough. Season 2 of Will Forte’s crazy not-so-solo ride through a fairly pleasant apocalypse ends with “30 Years of Science Down the Tubes.” According to FOX, in the May 15 finale, “Phil and Mike grow closer than ever and the whole Malibu group gets a big friggin’ surprise.” Don’t kill off Mike, please! Or really anyone!

“The Amazing Race” (Friday on CBS at 8 p.m.)
Season 28, which was cast with Internet stars (please don’t do that again, CBS), comes to a close May 13 with the title “The Only First That Matters.” Who will win this, Tyler & Korey, Dana & Matt, or Sheri & Cole? (Probably Tyler & Korey but it would be great for underdogs Sheri & Cole to pull out a surprise victory.)

“Inside Amy Schumer” (Thursday on Comedy Central at 10 p.m.)
Not everything this week is about finales. Amy Schumer’s fourth season just started April 21, and so far it’s as sharp as ever. The May 12 episode is called “Sociopath” and here’s what to expect: “Amy plays the saxophone; attempting to buy a shirt; getting elected President of the United States.”
