“Saturday Night Live” wants some of that “Crazy Rich Asians” action.

NBC’s late night sketch comedy show announced that breakout Awkwafina (who also starred in this summer’s “Ocean’s 8”) will make her “SNL” hosting debut in the October 6 episode with musical guest Travis Scott.

“Weekend Update” alum and “Late Night” host Seth Meyers will return to Studio 8H to host the Oct. 13 episode with musical guest Paul Simon, who celebrates his 77th birthday that night. This will mark Simon’s 15th appearance on the show. He recently released his 14th studio album, “In the Blue Light,” which revisits 10 of his personal favorites from his body of work. Simon also recently concluded what he says will be his last tour.

Awkwafina and Meyers join already-announced season premiere host Adam Driver and musical guest Kanye West on September 29.

  • Constance Wu Faces ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ in First Full Trailer

Meeting your boyfriend’s family and friends for the first time is always a nerve-wracking experience. But when those family and friends just happen to be some of the wealthiest people in Asia, and definitely don’t approve of you, that’s an entirely different experience.

That’s the dilemma Rachel (Constance Wu) faces in “Crazy Rich Asians,” when her longtime partner, Nick (Henry Golding), invites her back to his native Singapore to attend the wedding of a friend. When they’re greeted curbside at the airport and ushered into a luxurious first class lounge, Rachel suspects Nick has left out more about his lavish lifestyle than she initially thought. She has no idea.

Aside from the shock of attending opulent parties where Nick’s pals actually throw giant wads of cash in the air like confetti, Rachel also has to square off with Nick’s mother, Eleanor (Michelle Yeoh), who makes it quite clear that Rachel isn’t good enough for her son. But Rachel isn’t about to back down from a challenge.

“If Nick chose me, he would lose his family,” Rachel tells Eleanor. “And if he chose his family, he might spend the rest of his life resenting you.”

The also trailer features plenty of over-the-top examples of Nick’s wealth (not to mention Nick’s abs — looking good, Henry Golding), as well as a hilarious supporting turn from Awkwafina (also starring in this summer’s “Ocean’s 8”). We’re already counting down the days until this flick hits theaters.

“Crazy Rich Asians,” directed by John M. Chu, is slated for release on August 17.

  • The Starry First ‘Ocean’s 8’ Poster Is Giving Us Major Coat and Sunglasses Envy

The upcoming “Ocean’s Eleven” spinoff “Ocean’s 8” just revealed its first poster, and the flick looks like it will be just as stylish as it is star-studded.

That makes sense, since the film centers around a heist at the annual fashion-centric Met Gala event. But based on this image, the titular thieves will be looking just as glamorous as the famous faces they’re ripping off.ocean's eight, ocean's 8, poster, Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling, Awkwafina, Sarah Paulson

Of course, it’s hard not to notice that those thieves are played by a group of equally famous actresses, including a couple of Oscar winners (and one Grammy winner). Pictured on the poster, from left, are Sandra Bullock (playing ringleader Debbie Ocean, cousin of George Clooney’s “Ocean’s” character), Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Rihanna, Sarah Paulson, Mindy Kaling, and Awkwafina.

We don’t know too much else about the movie right now, but it’s set to have a bunch of cameos, including Matt Damon (reprising his role as pickpocket Linus Caldwell), James Corden (reportedly playing an insurance investigator who catches on to the group’s scheme), and Olivia Munn (playing herself, in a dress that cost her a lot of money). Also look out for plenty of big names from the fashion industry, too.

“Ocean’s 8” is set to hit theaters on June 8, 2018.

  • ‘Ocean’s 8’ Lands Summer 2018 Release Date

Premiere Of Warner Bros. Pictures' "Our Brand Is Crisis" - Red CarpetAfter we finally learned a few details about the upcoming all-female “Ocean’s Eleven” spinoff, “Ocean’s 8,” the film has now landed an official release date.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Ocean’s 8” will hit theaters on June 8, 2018. The flick has a majorly starry cast, headlined by Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Rihanna, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, and Awkwafina, who will be portraying the titular criminals.

Kaling recently spilled a few details about the flick, including that it’s set in New York, and that the plot has some connection to the fashion industry. According to the actress, filming is set to begin in about two weeks (and according to THR, will be on location in NYC).

“Ocean’s 8” also has some major star power behind the scenes, with Oscar nominee Gary Ross (“Seabiscuit,” “The Hunger Games”) directing the flick. Steven Soderbergh, who helmed the original “Ocean’s” trilogy, has collaborated with Ross several times over the years (including on “Ocean’s”), and will serve as a producer on the spinoff.

Ross previously noted that his film is “a continuation” of the tone and story of the original flicks, but also has its own distinct vision. We’re curious to see what the director and his phenomenal cast create together.

  • ‘Ocean’s 8’ Adds Rihanna, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, 2 More

Right now “Ocean’s 8” is at least The Magnificent Seven, with five more actresses ready to join the previously announced Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett.

According to Deadline, Warner Bros. will start filming the Gary Ross-directed spinoff in October. Deals are said to be “close” with Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling, and rapper/actress Awkwafina (aka Nora Lum).

In order to have the “Eight” of the title, they need one more, plus possibly cameos from the cast of the George Clooney/Brad Pitt/Matt Damon “Ocean’s” trilogy (which also started as a remake of the 1960 Sinatra/Martin/Davis “Ocean’s 11” movie, let’s not forget).

Jennifer Lawrence seems like she’d be a great kicker for this cast, but whoever is fine.

Back in June, director Gary Ross told /FILM this film would have “a pretty similar tone” to Steven Soderbergh’s “Ocean’s” trilogy.

“You know, Steven Soderbergh and I are incredibly close friends, and we would not have done this if we weren’t. I don’t think he would’ve wanted anyone to do it if we weren’t. This is very much an extension and a continuation. He’s a producer on the movie. […] We’re different filmmakers, obviously, so there will be those differences, but one of the things I’m drawn to is the amazing tone Steven was able to create, and we discuss that a lot. We discuss the cinema a lot, the shooting style, the rhythm, the editing style, and the music. We discuss it all. I’m in no way trying to reinvent the tone, and I’m thrilled and honored to be extending it. It’s really fun to work with.”

What do you think of the cast so far? If they start production in October, they don’t have much time left to pick No. 8.
