That’s not breaking news, since it was already reported that the “Avengers 4” reshoots would most likely mark Evans’ final time suiting up as Captain America.
But now it’s really happening.
Marvel Studios is now filming additional photography/reshoots, and Evans’ new photo shows he’s returning to Cap’s classic look. Gone is the rugged bearded Steve Rogers of “Avengers: Infinity War.” Instead, he’s back to the blond First Avenger.
Evans posted his “Senior year” photo along with dog Dodger:
“Avengers 4” set photos have heavily hinted to a time travel element, so maybe that’s how we see Cap’s old school look. Or it could be that after the snaps of “Infinity War,” he feels like the world needs classic Cap again.
Fans are bracing themselves for tears, saying goodbye to Cap — and possibly the other original Avengers. The synopsis for “Avengers 4” did mention “sacrifices,” and … well, just be prepared.
“Avengers 4” is scheduled to open in the U.S. on May 3, 2019, not quite two months after the next film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, “Captain Marvel.”
Not only is the cast of “Avengers: Infinity War” still doing reshoots for “Avengers 4,” (much of which was filmed back-to-back with Part 1) they seem to have no idea how the final film will play out.
“Well we’re doing reshoots starting in September. And then we’ll go back into the international tour, we’ll go on tour… Then you guys will get [‘Avengers 4’]. Which we don’t even know what it’s gonna be yet. We’re not just doing reshoots, we’re going to finish the movie, which we really didn’t get to finish totally when we left it last year.”
Bautista said he’d shot “most of [“Avengers 4″] already” and that he had two days of reshoots. He added, “I have some really great scenes that I hope they use.”
“We’ve worked on the edit all summer and we’re excited to finally get these missing pieces in the film and then we expect to be in post through the fall and winter. We hope to be done by March. It was so gratifying that in a movie with this scope and scale and that wide of an audience, that we were able to end with a gut punch and yet the audience stayed with us and found value and kept coming back…”
“Avengers 4” is currently set for a May 3, 2019 release.
Don’t go thinking “Avengers 4” is anywhere near done.
The highly anticipated film was originally called “Avengers: Infinity War – Part 2.” The two movies were filmed back-to-back, with about a month break after “Avengers 3” before “Avengers 4” officially started filming in August 2017.
Over a year later, the filmmakers are working on “Avengers 4” additional photography (reshoots) and starting post-production, which will go right down to the wire.
Because this film is massive in every way.
Marvel Studios
“Avengers 4” is scheduled for release in the U.S. on May 3, 2019, but it will arrive in some parts of the world in late April.
Anthony Russo: “We’ve worked on the edit all summer and we’re excited to finally get these missing pieces in the film and then we expect to be in post through the fall and winter. We hope to be done by March. It was so gratifying that in a movie with this scope and scale and that wide of an audience, that we were able to end with a gut punch and yet the audience stayed with us and found value and kept coming back…”
Joe Russo: “It was probably when a 10-year old boy at a Q&A was crying as he asked us why we killed Spider-Man.”
What was the best reaction?
Joe Russo: “The best reaction was probably that 10-year old kid crying and asking us why we killed Spider-Man. From the time we came to Marvel, our goal was to surprise the audience and not give them the same thing but rather to challenge them. That was our view on Captain America: Winter Soldier, and Civil War was also very controversial internally with the powers that be in turning Iron Man into the antagonist and severing the relationship between Cap and Tony Stark. Every Marvel film we’ve created had this controversy, like are we pushing this rabid audience too far? Are we making movies that could perhaps be too emotionally complex for the genre? That the audience has shown up wanting more is a testament to the hard work everybody has put in over those last 10 years of films.”
Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige has said the title of “Avengers 4” will be shared later this year, after the “Captain Marvel” teasers start showing up. It has been speculated that we might even get the first teaser for “Avengers 4” in November.
The next two MCU films on the docket are “Captain Marvel” on March 8, and “Avengers 4” on May 3. Then that 10-year-old boy should be happy to hear that Spider-Man will return — somehow — for “Spider-Man: Far From Home” in July.
In the meantime, the Russos did retweet this beauty, so maybe you should too:
Been meaning to take the remaining avengers back to the Shawarma joint. Here is the update with who's left, tho I don't know if Wong is alive 😅 but honestly it's sad how many left us. Now to see how many will return… #avengers4@Russo_Brothers@RobertDowneyJrpic.twitter.com/uzdnuP8VQz
Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark/Iron Man) and Chris Evans (Steve Rogers/Captain America) sparred in “Captain America: Civil War,” but in real life the two Marvel stars are good buddies. They will both be back in “Avengers 4” next year, but they’ve also both heavily hinted to leaving the MCU behind after that film.
So maybe this was a parting gift?
This Thursday’s Aug. 30 episode of “Jay Leno‘s Garage” will follow Chris Evans learning how to stunt drive the swanky 1967 Camaro he got as a gift this past year from RDJ.
In the clip below from “Jay Leno’s Garage,” Jay talks to Dave Salvaggio from SpeedKore Performance about RDJ designing the car — which has its own Captain America logo on the steering wheel.
Jay asked Dave if Chris was surprised by the gift.
“Yeah, they did the third ‘Avengers’ movie [‘Infinity War’], that came out. Robert had it shipped to Atlanta where they were filming and gave it to Chris as a gift on set.”
Chris wasn’t really a car guy, per se, Dave said, but he loved the Camaro — and loved the “melted Army man green” color, which was picked by RDJ with Cap in mind. Dave said Chris drives the car a few times a week on the East Coast, so maybe fans should keep an eye out for him in Massachusetts.
Jay Leno said he really liked Chris Evans, who brought out some of his old buddies from back home for the stunt driving part of the episode.
Watch Chris learn to stunt drive “and do an epic burnout in his car” on “Jay Leno’s Garage,” airing Thursday, August 30th at 10 p.m. on CNBC.
In the meantime, check out how much money RDJ and Chris Evans made in the past year from their Marvel success. They could buy all of us Camaros and have cash to spare!
What are we going to do after “Avengers 4“? Sure, there’s “Spider-Man: Far From Home,” but the hype fans feel for this movie — we need to keep this feeling going somehow.
There’s nothing major going on with “Avengers 4” at the moment, other than the planned “additional photography”/reshoots. But fans have been busy speculating, and offering suggestions.
MCU Cosmic decided to go a bit further, speculating on when we can expect both the “Captain Marvel” and “Avengers 4” trailers.
The site figured that September is a reasonable date for a “Captain Marvel” teaser release, since it’s six months away from the March 2019 “Captain Marvel” premiere. A September teaser would also give Marvel some buffer time before releasing any footage from “Avengers 4.”
“Which brings us to November. The first teaser trailer for Avengers: Infinity War was released on November 29th, 2017. With Avengers 4 releasing the same time of the year that Infinity War did, it’s very likely that we’ll see the first teaser for the second movie around the same time this year…give or take a week either way.”
First “Avengers 4” footage in November? Yes? No? We’ll see.
One fan already has the end of that film in mind, suggesting this bittersweet scene as a coda to Captain America (Chris Evans) and Peggy Carter’s (Hayley Atwell) romantic dance story:
We don’t know what will happen to Cap, but since Chris Evans has made it pretty clear he’s done with the MCU after “Avengers 4,” it’s hard to imagine what else they’d do with the character. And the “Avengers 4” synopsis does mention “sacrifices.”
Speaking of sacrifices, the Russo Brothers — who directed “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers 4” — posted a fan’s video from their Twitter account, and it confused a lot of people into thinking it was a title reveal:
But most of the replies are from fans demanding Loki be brought back to life. We’ll see if that happens, along with everything else, when “Avengers 4” is released next May. Or April.
Screen Junkies’ Honest Trailers series doesn’t pass up an opportunity to spoof a hit movie, and the time finally came for it to tackle “Avengers: Infinity War.”
Given that there were 19 movies leading up to the superhero flick, there was a lot for the video to deal with — a fact that Screen Junkies didn’t ignore. The narrator almost immediately highlights the film’s scale, calling it it “without a doubt, the most movie Marvel’s ever made.” From there, we get to “look at all that movie,” which includes a rundown of the most important characters.
As you can imagine, it takes a long time to go through all the superheroes, but it’s enjoyable and, of course, funny. It all leads up to a recap of the plot, complete with entertaining nods to the internet’s love for Thanos and the narrator’s take on all of the movie’s deaths.
“Avengers 4” should be starting up its reshoots pretty soon, and it looks like some asses are on the line.
ComicBook.com noticed a new Central Casting call out of Georgia for “Mary Lou,” which is the working title of “Avengers 3” and “Avengers 4,” which filmed back-to-back. (They were originally going to be “Infinity War – Part 1” and “Part 2.”)
“Avengers 4” is apparently looking for a Photo Double, specifically a body/butt double for a petite blonde woman. That makes it seem like it might be for Scarlett Johansson‘s Black Widow, although that’s just a guess.
The schedule has this person starting in September and working multiple days “through October,” which is longer than we thought “Avengers 4” additional photography might go.

“****FEATURE FILM – Mary Lou**** BODY/BUTT DOUBLE Working multiple dates starting September Location: Fayetteville, GA Rate: $125/10
Central Casting is looking for a Photo Double to work on this exciting project. Filming will likely begin in early September; you should have a flexible schedule and ability to work multiple days a week through October. An interview and fitting will be required within the next 2 weeks. Filming will mostly take place in Fayetteville & the Greater Atlanta Area. Experience is preferred. You MUST fit these size requirements:
-Woman #1: Looking for a female who appears to be Caucasian, 20’s-30’s. Height 5’2 – 5’4, Bust 32B – 32D, waist 25 – 27, hips 36 – 38, dress size 0-4. Hair color: BLONDE
ONLY SUBMIT IF YOU FIT THIS DESCRIPTION! And follow the instructions carefully or you will NOT be considered! To submit, send an email to MaryLou@CentralCasting.com and include: your name, phone number, height, weight, sizes, current photo(s) and a resume of any relevant experience. For photos, you MUST include:
1. a headshot 2. full body shot of your front side, head to toe 3. full body shot of your back side (wearing ALL BLACK, leggings or yoga pants- must be form fitting).
Please put “BODY DOUBLE” in the subject line.”
Central Casting posted what it means to be a double versus a stand-in, etc.:
“Unlike Stand-Ins, doubles take the place of an actor on screen, though their faces are rarely (if ever) seen. Central Casting casts a variety of doubles to work on our productions.
Photo Double A photo double must resemble an actor as closely as possible in height, build, hair color, and complexion. They often need to look like they could be the actor’s twin. A photo double can be used when a principal actor is in a scene but is not the focus and is essentially functioning as a Background Actor. Since the photo double looks like the actor from a distance, they can film in the actor’s place while they prepare for other scenes.
Body Double Body doubles can be used in instances where an actor plays two or more characters who appear in the same scene. While filming, the double will take the place of one of the characters and their face will be replaced with the actor’s in post-production.
Body doubles may also be used to replace a principal actor for nude scenes, to perform special skills, or for second unit or insert shots to free up the actor to film other scenes.”
This is Marvel/Disney, so it’s not for a nude scene. This is just the latest “Mary Lou” casting, and you never know what might still pop up on this schedule, or for the next Marvel movie — since they tend to base filming in the Atlanta area. Maybe the next one will be for a male butt double, although the people who make the posters seem happy with the existing male butt shots.
“Avengers 4” is scheduled for release May 3, 2019.
The 2018 Teen Choice Awards had about nine million categories, and young fans exercised their right to vote in all of them.
The results were announced last night during the star-studded show.
The CW was a huge winner on the TV side, especially for “Riverdale.” “Shadowhunters” did pretty well for Freeform, even though Freeform just canceled it.
On the film side, Marvel Cinematic Universe movies and stars did as well as you might imagine — and Chris Pratt got some crossover love for “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.” But “The Greatest Showman” seemed to get the greatest love. There’s “Never Enough” to go around!
