  • Amy Schumer’s Book Gets August Release Date

The 21st Annual Critics' Choice Awards - ArrivalsAfter news broke last fall that Amy Schumer scored a huge advance for a book deal, fans have been waiting for word on when the tome would actually hit shelves. Now, the book has an official title and an official release date, and we are officially excited.

Schumer revealed the news on social media this week that the book, dubbed “The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo,” will be released on August 16. She teased the title on Twitter with the double-entendre quip, “If you write it, they will come,” and previewed the book’s cover on her Instagram account.

    Yay! Book!

The official blurb on the comedian’s site says “Lower Back Tattoo,” a collection of comedic essays, “will feature personal and observational stories from Schumer that range from the raunchy to the romantic, the heartfelt to the harrowing.” Publisher Jennifer Bergstrom, of Gallery Books (an imprint of Simon & Schuster), praised Schumer in a statement, saying, “Amy Schumer is not an entertainer who can actually write. She’s a writer. Who also happens to entertain.”

We can’t wait. “The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo” is currently available for pre-order through Schumer’s website.
