  • Amber Heard Shows Off Mera’s Very Red Hair in New ‘Aquaman’ Team Photo

2nd Annual Pride & Prejudice SummitWell, no one is going to miss Amber Heard on the set of “Aquaman,” that’s for sure.

From DC’s villainous Poison Ivy to Marvel’s heroic Medusa, comic books just love a fiery redhead, and Heard’s Mera shares the same bold look. Mera and title star Jason Momoa are currently filming DC’s “Aquaman,” directed by James Wan, and you can see the trio in Heard’s latest set photo:

We first got a look at that bright hair in photos shared back in May, after Amber Heard’s first day on the “Aquaman” set.

Mera will debut in “Justice League” this November, and the first photo shared of her Queen of Atlantis seemed to show a less bright hair color … or that could just be from director Zack Snyder’s lighting:

The brighter red hair for “Aquaman” does look faithful to the DC comics character, which suggests good things for purists. Either way, she looks stunning, and we’re excited to see more from her, Momoa, and the whole “Aquaman” crew.

“Justice League” opens November 17. “Aquaman” opens December 21, 2018.

  • See Amber Heard’s Photos From First Day on ‘Aquaman’ Set

Amber Heard Amber Heard shared a photo on Twitter of herself suited up for “Aquaman,” saying “Meet Mera. Day 1.” Director James Wan shared an equally stunning photo of the now red-haired actress as the sea goddess, aka Queen of Atlantis and Aquaman (Jason Momoa)’s wife.

Unless the color palette changes dramatically in the final film, Wan’s movie already looks a lot more colorful than the blue-and-gray tones of the same character in Zack Snyder‘s “Justice League.”

“Aquaman” opens on December 21, 2018. “Justice League” hits theaters on November 17, 2017.

Is it just us, or does Heard’s look here remind you of Batman villain Poison Ivy?

The actress also shared a photo on Instagram of herself in the make-up trailer while reading, natch, an Aquaman comic book.

  • Watch Amber Heard’s Badass Fight Training for ‘Aquaman’

“Aquaman” is now filming, and Amber Heard is ready to fight.

Heard plays Mera, wife of Jason Momoa‘s Aquaman/Arthur Curry, in the DC Comics standalone movie. The characters will both be in “Justice League” this November before getting their own “swashbuckling action adventure” in 2018.

The actress showed off some of her character’s skills in an Instagram video from set:

“Aquaman” director James Wan previewed his film to Entertainment Tonight:

“I think Amber and Jason Momoa, in their moments in ‘Justice League,’ [are] going to give the rest of the world a flavor of what their own standalone movie could be. And that is just scratching the surface of what I plan to do. I kind of don’t want to give too much away but know this: The spirit that I’m going for is like a classic sort of swashbuckling action adventure, sort of high seas adventure story. It’s ultimately a quest story in the spirit of ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ meets ‘Romancing the Stone.’”

According to Bustle, Aquaman and Mera’s story “starts off initially with them not quite clicking with each other.” Wan continued:

“But then as the story progresses as they learn to try and work together, they get closer and closer. […] I think that dynamic will be really interesting between the two. Amber’s character is super strong, she’s very powerful as well. You don’t wanna mess with her. I think Amber will bring that sense of strength, but at the same time, we also want someone who has a sort of feminine quality to her as well. She’s a bit of a contrast to Momoa, who’s more of a muscular machine almost.”

We can’t wait to see them in action. “Justice League” arrives in theaters on November 17 of this year, and “Aquaman” is currently expected in December 2018.

  • Johnny Depp and Amber Heard Settle Divorce, Heard Drops Domestic Violence Restraining Order

The Art of Elysium Presents Vivienne Westwood & Andreas Kronthaler's 2016 HEAVEN Gala - ArrivalsAfter a contentious few months marked by accusations of violence, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have settled their divorce case.

TMZ was the first to report the news, revealing that Heard had withdrawn her petition for a domestic violence restraining order against Depp because she and her now-ex have settled their divorce. The site says:

Amber and Johnny filed legal docs Tuesday in which Amber withdrew her request for a restraining order. She had alleged Johnny brutalized her on May 21 but now the case is over. She dismissed the case with prejudice, meaning she can never re-file it.

The divorce settlement, which was also finalized on Tuesday, awards Heard about $7 million, according to TMZ.

The former couple released a joint statement about the news, which reads:

“Our relationship was intensely passionate and at times volatile, but always bound by love. Neither party has made false accusations for financial gains. There was never an intent of physical or emotional harm. Amber wishes the best for Johnny in the future. Amber will be donating financial proceeds from the divorce to a charity. There will be no further public statements about this matter.”

Depp and Heard, who were married for just 15 months, have been battling it out in court since May, and Heard was granted a temporary restraining order against Depp on May 27 that required Depp to stay 100 feet from her.

According to a report from Deadline, it was the intense media scrutiny, coupled with the long legal haul ahead, that led both parties to mutually decide to resolve the divorce proceedings quickly over the past few days. The trade reports that Depp never showed up for a deposition scheduled for this past weekend, while Heard flew in from London to give hers. A hearing was to have been held later this week.

  • Johnny Depp’s Mom Dies, Amber Heard Files for Divorce 3 Days Later, No Prenup?

27th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala - ArrivalsWell, we found it: The one week in this lifetime it would really suck to be Johnny Depp.

Late Wednesday night the news broke that Amber Heard, Depp’s wife of just 15 months, had filed for divorce on Monday, May 23. According to TMZ, that divorce filing, for the classic “irreconcilable differences,” came just three days after Depp’s mother, Betty Sue Palmer, passed away at age 81. Heard listed their date of separation as Sunday, two days after his mom died.

And this isn’t a week where Depp can really keep a low profile; he’s meant to be in the public eye promoting his movie “Alice Through the Looking Glass,” which — more bad news — only has a 31 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. A lot of celebs try to file divorce papers during low-key times, or at least at the end of the week to avoid tabloid coverage, but there’s no hiding this one.

Also, Amber filed for spousal support, despite the barely-a-year-marriage. TMZ said Depp filed his response through his lawyer, asking the judge to reject Amber’s support claim. No word on what will happen to the dogs she infamously smuggled into Australia while he was filming.

76th Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals
TMZ’s sources said they had no prenup, which is surprising. They’re also deep-diving into the family strife, with a separate report claiming Depp’s two teenage children, sisters, and mother all “hated” Amber. It’s a bad time to remind him, but a lot of people questioned this relationship, not just for the age gap (he’s 52, she’s 30) but because he jumped into that marriage right after his 14-year relationship with Vanessa Paradis.

People is also jumping into the fray, and their sources seem to be closer to the Team Amber camp.
“Before Amber met Johnny she was just a regular super cool hipster chick living with roommates who dated girls. At their engagement party she kind of got cold feet… she was just like what is this scene and what am I doing here? She kind of couldn’t believe it was her life now.” So why did she marry him? A separate source told People, “When Johnny Depp wants you, you don’t really say no. Why would you?”

  • The Johnny Depp and Amber Heard Dog Apology Video Is Beyond Awkward

Yikes. It was not a g’day for Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. The married movie stars just apologized on camera for falsifying immigration documents to smuggle their dogs into Australia. The Internet took note of the painfully awkward video, comparing it to a hostage situation.

You may recall the hubbub about Heard bringing the dogs into the country last May while Depp was filming the fifth “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie. Heard pleaded guilty Monday to falsifying the docs, to bring her Yorkshire terriers Pistol and Boo into Oz. She will not serve jail time, as prosecutors dropped the charges, and both Depp and Heard issued a video apology to the Queensland court.

As People reported, the video was posted on the Facebook page of Barnaby Joyce, the Australian politician who initially threatened to euthanize the dogs:

Amber Heard: “I’m truly sorry that Pistol and Boo were not declared. Protecting Australia is important.”

Johnny Depp: “Declare everything when you enter Australia.”

Well, now the Internet is declaring this a hostage video:

But duly noted — from now on, we won’t try to smuggle our dogs into Australia while our A-list husbands are playing Captain Jack Sparrow. Good tip!

  • Amber Heard Confirms Mera Role in ‘Justice League,’ ‘Aquaman’

27th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala - ArrivalsRumors have been circulating for months about Amber Heard‘s reported role in the upcoming “Aquaman” standalone movie and the first “Justice League” flick, and now, the actress has confirmed her involvement in those high-profile projects.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Heard revealed that she is indeed playing Mera, the undersea queen and love interest for Aquaman (played by Jason Momoa, who’ll first hit screens in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” later this month). Though she didn’t say anything specific about the role, Heard did give ET a bit of scoop about her costume, teasing that the getup is not your average superhero garb.

“It’s interesting,” Heard said with a laugh. “I’m wearing, like, half suit of armor, half scales. I don’t know, it’s strange, it’s strange. We’re in the process of building it now, so it’s coming along.”

Heard and co. will have plenty of time to work on the unique outfit, since “Justice League: Part One,” in which she’ll make her debut, isn’t set to hit theaters until November 2017. That will be followed by the “Aquaman” film, which is due out on July 27, 2018.

  • This ‘Magic Mike XXL’ Trailer Will Dance Right Into Your Heart (VIDEO)

Magic Mike XXLChanning Tatum unveiled the awesomely unsubtle poster for “Magic Mike XXL” yesterday, but apparently that was just a tease for today’s big reveal. Yes, the trailer for “Magic Mike XXL” is here, and as the trailer says, you’re welcome.

Those of us who remember the ’80s will immediately notice the callback to “Flashdance” and its heroine Alex, a welder by day and stripper by night. Except, naturally, Tatum is the one behind that welding helmet and not Jennifer Beals, and he’s doing something rather suggestive with his materials. Then he starts dancing all over the place. He’s out of control with the dancing! And that’s when the action begins. Abs, breakdancing, partying, Ginuwine’s “Pony,” gyrating, cans of soda exploding, and more abs: It’s all here!

It’s not clear if the trailer’s winking self-awareness will translate to the movie itself, or if the trailer is cut to emphasize the sexy, funny parts. Although “Magic Mike” was humorous and sexy, it was also a little grim. (Anyone else remember that sad little mini pig?) Gregory Jacobs is directing; as with many of Steven Soderbergh’s projects, Jacobs was the assistant director on “Magic Mike.” The script is co-written by Tatum and Reid Carolin, who penned the original “Magic Mike.”

Tatum and pals will dance back into our hearts and loins on July 1, 2015, when “Magic Mike XXL” hits theaters.
