  • ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 12 Trailer Shows Life After McDreamy … Is Funny?!

Holy tone change, Batman. Without ever mentioning the words “Derek” or “McDreamy,” ABC’s official trailer for “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 12 seems very tied to his memory — as in, please forget that he just died and it was devastating because now we’re ready to have some FUN! The mood of the brief (why just 20 seconds?) trailer is very upbeat, so upbeat you might think they were teasing a sitcom.

Yeah, we see Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) sitting in bed, thinking deep thoughts about how “everything has changed,” but we also see high fives in the hospital, goofy shenanigans with Meredith’s new roommates, and a slapstick-like punch to the face. The music is lively and the overall feel is positive and happy.

It’s a nice change of pace — for the characters and the audience — to go from such a dark ending in Season 11 to lighthearted fun, but it’s almost a shock to the system to see something so bright. It’s going to take our eyes a minute to adjust to the light, but we’ll get there, and hopefully this is the start of a refreshing reboot as opposed to a WTF are you doing to us now, Shonda?

    Here’s the trailer:

Here are more details on the Season 12 premiere, which airs this coming Thursday, September 24.

  • ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 12 Premiere Will Cover Bullying, Meredith’s Roommates

Derek? Who’s Derek? “Grey’s Anatomy” is returning for its 12th season on Thursday, September 24 at 8 p.m. ET., and ABC just shared details on the premiere. The first episode, “Sledgehammer,” will guest star Debbie Allen and Joy Lauren Adams and show Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson), Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams) and April Kepner (Sarah Drew) adapting to changes.

Here’s ABC’s synopsis for “Sledgehammer,” which was directed by Kevin McKidd, aka Owen Hunt:

Grey Sloan Memorial springs into action to save the lives of two young girls whose powerful story will force some of the doctors to revisit the effects of bullying on their own pasts. Meanwhile, Meredith must adjust to changes at home with her new roommates while Bailey continues to fight for the Chief of Surgery position and Jackson prepares for April’s return to Seattle.”

Poor Meredith can never catch a break. She loses the love of her life and now she has roommate problems. (Ellen Pompeo said Meredith will be living with Amelia and Maggie, “throwing herself into her work and her kids” and possibly getting a promotion.)

Meanwhile, you may have seen that Patrick Demsey, aka McDreamy, is moving on and may be joining the world of Bridget Jones.

Are you excited/nervous for the changes ahead in “Grey’s” Season 12?

Speaking of that, DWTS pro Peta Murgatroyd was supposed to be paired with Andy Grammer this season, but she was just sidelined with an injury and had to be replaced. And since the pros are the real stars — welcome back, Anna and Louis! (No Artem, though? He was on the original pro list…)

What do you think of the Season 21 cast, and which couple is your favorite?

  • 9 Celebs We Want to See on ‘Dancing With the Stars’

    %Slideshow-316350%
Casting announcements for “Dancing With the Stars” Season 21 have been trickling in over the past week, and so far we know we can expect to see names like Paula Deen and Chaka Kahn vying for a mirrorball trophy soon. This got to thinking about our own “DWTS” wish list… Who would we love to see in glitzy garb attempting their best pasodoble? Here are 9 celebs we want to see on “Dancing With the Stars.”

  • It’s Official: ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Judge Len Goodman Is Leaving the Show (for Now)

Len Goodman - Book SigningAfter months of speculation, “Dancing With the Stars” has confirmed that longtime judge Len Goodman will be vacating his post for the upcoming 21st season of the reality competition series.

“DWTS” executive producer Rob Wade released a statement announcing the news, revealing that several other conflicts precluded Goodman from continuing with his judging duties.

“Len will not be returning as a judge this season on ‘Dancing With the Stars’ due to his schedule as a judge on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ in the U.K. and the birth of his new grandson,” Wade’s statement said. “He still might be involved in the season at some capacity, but we will have to wait and see. We are planning on having great guest judges for some shows to join Bruno (Tonioli), Carrie Ann (Inaba) and Julianne (Hough), and I’m sure we will see Len in the ballroom again soon.”

The announcement isn’t a huge shock, since Wade had previously indicated that Goodman was on the fence about returning, and Goodman himself initially said he would leave “DWTS” before last season, the show’s landmark 20th, only to stick around after all. But Goodman’s commitments to “Strictly,” the U.K. version of “Dancing,” just became too much, and the judge reportedly was tired of making multiple trans-Atlantic flights to participate in both programs.

For now, Goodman’s spot will be filled by a rotating panel of guest judges; a permanent fourth judge will not be named. Goodman may return for season 22, though that has not yet been confirmed (and may change depending on how the upcoming seasons of “Dancing” and “Strictly” shake out).

“Dancing With the Stars” returns for its 21st season on September 14 on ABC.

  • Watch the First Minute of ‘Once Upon a Time’ Season 5 (Oh, Regina!)

“Once Upon a Time” Season 5 won’t premiere until Sunday, September 27, but the first minute of the new season was just presented by Disney/ABC at D23. And now you can watch it in the video below.

The clip starts with a replay of the very end of Season 4, when Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison) sacrificed herself to save Regina (Lana Parrilla) and Storybrooke, and got “sucked up by a vortex of evil.” That’s how Regina describes it anyway, and you can tell right away that she is not overly grateful for Emma’s sacrifice or sobbing over the loss of the savior. “How could she be so STUPID?” Regina asks. “There had to be another way.”

Now Emma is “a problem,” Regina adds, and not one that can be easily solved by Captain Hook (Colin O’Donoghue) just picking up the dagger and commanding the new Dark One to appear. Regina tells “Guyliner” (haha!) to put the dagger down before he hurts himself. You can use the dagger to summon the Dark One from any corner of the world but, since it isn’t working, that shows Emma isn’t in this world anymore.

We already know Season 5 is meant to show a role reversal of sorts, with Emma as the “evil” one and Regina showing her savior side. Swan Queen fans probably have a lot to look forward to, even if Regina will always be Regina.

  • ‘Modern Family’ Recasts Joe, Sofia Vergara Shares First Photo of New Son

Meet the new Joe! When “Modern Family” Season 7 premieres on Wednesday, September 23, we’ll be seeing a different Fulgencio Pritchett, aka Joe, son of Gloria (Sofia Vergara) and Jay (Ed O’Neill). The toddler was played for the past two seasons by Pierce Wallace, but ABC recast the role with Jeremy Maguire. According to TVLine, Jeremy turns 4 on August 10. The site said producers wanted to recast the role as Joe will be “rough and tumble” this season, as a yin to Manny’s yang.

    Here’s Joe’s on-screen mom showing him off:

Isn’t he the cutest? They do look like they could be mother and son. (While Joe ages, Gloria just keeps looking younger every year.) This isn’t the first time “Modern Family” has aged-up its kids. Aubrey Anderson-Emmons joined the show as older Lily, Mitch and Cam’s daughter, Lily, in a role that was previously played by young twins Ella and Jaden Hiller.

    Welcome to the “Family,” Jeremy!

  • 6 Reasons You Should Be Watching ‘Black-ish’ Right Now

the cast of abc's blackishI’ve been waiting and debating for oh-so-long for a comedy show that is actually funny; and when I say funny I mean leg-slapping, foot-stomping, my-head-is-hurting funny! Well, to my surprise, ABC has delivered a new side-splitting comedy called “Black-ish,” about a successful, black family man who struggles to find some cultural identity while raising his family in a predominately white, upper-middle class neighborhood. It stars Anthony Anderson, Tracee Ellis Ross, and newcomers Yara Shahidi, Marcus Scribner, and others. Here are six reasons why you should watch:

    1. Anthony Anderson Is Executive Producer
Anthony Anderson was born in Compton and is the current host of Food Network’s “Eating America,” and formerly a member of NBC’s Emmy Award-winning drama “Law & Order.” Anderson played Detective Kevin Bernard opposite Jeremy Sisto’s Detective Cyrus Lupo. He’s also appeared in more than 20 films, including the comedy blockbuster “Barbershop.” Now, he’s starring in and executive producing “Black-ish,” which airs Wednesdays on ABC and starts its second season this fall, and Anderson takes his keepin’-it-real comedy know-how to new heights on the hit show.

    2. Marcus Scribner Knows How to Play the Dozens
Marcus Scribner is only 15 years old, but he’s already added his voice to Pixar’s “The Good Dinosaur,” and appeared in episodes of “Castle” and “Wedding Band.” Now that he’s one of the young stars of “Black-ish,” this kid is on his way to the top. What took me by surprise with Marcus was, in Episode 6 (“The Prank King”), where he was instructed to roast a school mate to get the boy to stop bullying him. He was great! For me, growing up — and even to this day — my friends and I love to roast each other. “Roasting” is also known as “playing the dozens”and “bagging.” Young kids will really relate to him.

    3. It’s Funnier Than ‘The Cosby Show’
“Black-ish” is funnier than “The Cosby Show” — even without sedatives slipped in your drink. (Too soon?)

    4. Donald Trump Hates It!
When Donald Trump heard about “Black-ish” he sent out a Tweet stating “How is ABC Television allowed to have a show entitled “Blackish”? Can you imagine the furor of a show, “Whiteish”! Racism at highest level?”

    5. Kenya Barris Is the Show’s Creator
He is known for his work on “America’s Next Top Model,” hit series “The Game” and “Girlfriends,” and the films “Are We There Yet?” and “Barber Shop 3”; with these hit shows and movie under his belt, you already know “Black-ish” is poised to be one of the top comedies on television.

    6. Tracee Ellis Ross Is Back and Funnier Than Ever
Ross is an actress, model, comedian, and producer; she is also the daughter of legendary singer Diana Ross. She’s starred in a number of films and television shows, like “Girlfriends,” “Reed Between the Lines,” “Daddy’s Little Girls,” and “Life Support.” The funniest show I’ve seen her in is “Girlfriends,” and she’s injecting that knee-slapping comedy into “Black-ish.”

  • ‘Once Upon a Time’ Spoilers: Charming Has Hot New ‘Bromance,’ Snow Has ‘Strain’

Poor Prince Charming (Josh Dallas) and Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin). They just can’t catch a break on “Once Upon a Time” — but at least Charming may end up with a new boyfriend, of sorts, when Season 5 starts September 27 on ABC.

Season 5 won’t just focus on “Dark Swan” and her sexy new look. We’re also heading into Camelot, with King Arthur (Liam Garrigan), Guinevere (Joana Metrass) and Lancelot (Sinqua Walls) in their own love triangle. Entertainment Weekly just teased some interesting Camelot action for one OUAT’s main heroes, Prince Charming himself. A fan asked how the Charmings will deal with their daughter Emma (Jennifer Morrison) going dark in Season 5. Here’s EW’s answer:

Not well. “It is definitely going to put a strain on Snow and Charming’s relationship,” Josh Dallas says. “There are things they’re going to go through in finding their way back to Emma.” But it’s not all doom and gloom this season. “You’re going to see Charming have a big bromance with King Arthur and go on some adventures,” he says. “We’re going to see Charming at his most heroic in Camelot.”

Not happy to hear about this strain on Mom and Dad’s relationship, but a bromance is always fun and it’ll be good to see more heroism from Charming. Season 5 is now shooting and fans have been following the actors on set. Here are some shots of Liam as he joins us as King Arthur/Charming’s new boyfriend:

So it looks like King Arthur will be hanging out with the group in Storybrooke and we’ll have to wait and see how that plays out. Head to SpoilerTV for a lot more tweets and videos from the set.
