Originally conceived and scripted by Bryan Woods and Scott Beck (with Krasinski working on the script when he agreed to direct and star), the first ‘A Quiet Place’ follows a family (Krasinski, real-life wife Emily Blunt and two kids) surviving in the aftermath of an alien invasion by blind aliens with incredibly powerful hearing who hunt and kill humans.
That movie enjoyed $50.2 million opening weekend, and a near $153M domestic and $341M global take, and received an Oscar nomination for Sound Editing.
It saw its release pushed due to Covid, but brought the box office back alive during Memorial Day weekend 2021 with a $57M four-day start, ending with a $160M domestic and $297.3M global haul. A prequel, ‘A Quiet Place: Day One’, arrived in 2024, directed by Michael Sarnoski.
When will ‘A Quiet Place: Part III’ be on screens?
The movie is set for a July 30, 2027 release date.

Now, via Deadline, there is news that Cooper may also re-write and direct the new movie, in addition to his acting duties.

The news comes on the heels of ‘Twisters’ director Lee Isaac Chung stepped away from the movie, citing creative differences with the studio and star/producer Robbie.
Yet Deadline also cautions that Cooper has signed no deals yet, so all this is still up in the air.

The script remains a secret, though previous stories hinted that it’ll be set in 1962, and focus on a pair of thieves who target expensive earrings during a mansion event followed by a plot to steal precious diamond in Monte Carlo.
Seeking payback after something goes wrong, they recruit a team to sabotage his Monaco Grand Prix victory and swipe the gem. And, if the connection to the ‘Ocean’s franchise holds true, they might just be the parents of Danny Ocean, as played by George Clooney in the main movies.
Carrie Solomon wrote the most recent draft of the screenplay, but Cooper, assuming he does actually end up working on the movie, may start afresh.
When will the ‘Ocean’s’ prequel movie be on screens?
We’ve yet to learn when the film will land in cinemas, and Deadline’s story mentions an attempt to have it shooting before the end of this year, so 2027 is still possible.

Musician Billie Eilish is to star in a new adaptation of ‘The Bell Jar.’
Sarah Polley is writing and directing the movie.
Focus Features is in talks to produce and distribute.
Having already found success in movies thanks to her Oscar-winning music for ‘No Time to Die’ and ‘Barbie’, Billie Eilish is looking to follow other singer-songwriters to the screen and making her cinematic acting debut.
The only novel written by American writer and poet Plath, ‘The Bell Jar’ was originally published in 1963.
This semi-autobiographical work charts a young woman’s descent into mental illness and the burden of societal pressures. The book paralleled Plath’s own experiences with depression; the writer tragically died by suicide just a month after the novel’s first UK publication.
Who else has tried to film the novel?
Dakota Fanning stars in Paramount Pictures’ ‘Vicious.’
Since then, it has mostly been false starts: Julia Stiles was attached to star in a version in 2007 that ultimately didn’t come to pass. And Kirsten Dunst was attached to direct Dakota Fanning in the story a decade later but that also fell by the wayside. Showtime was reportedly developing a small screen take in 2019, but that hasn’t moved forward.

Streaming service Disney+ has a Tinker Bell series in development.
It’ll be a new, live-action take on the character.
Liz Heldens and Bridget Carpenter are running the show.
While Marvel has been all over Disney+ with a variety of shows based on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we haven’t seen quite as much from the company’s animation arm, which has mostly kept its live-action takes on cartoon characters limited to the big screen.
Now, though, Deadline brings word that the streaming service is developing a series based on ‘Peter Pan’s fairy, Tinker Bell, titled ‘Tink’.
While the character remains an iconic part of the Disney firmament, there have been frustrations with realizing her in the live-action world.
A live-action feature named ‘Tink’ was in development in 2015, with Reese Witherspoon set to play the lead. But that never came to pass and the idea has now been retooled into a series.
Despite a box office stumble with ‘Snow White’, the huge success of ‘Lilo & Stitch’ has led to the Mouse House reaffirming its commitment to converting its animated output to live-action.
‘Moana’ is sailing towards theaters this July, ‘Beauty and the Beast’ spin-off ‘Gaston’ is back in development, and there has been movement on the ‘Tangled’ live-action movie.

Right now, we know very little about the new project, beyond the fact that Fox –– fresh off of success from co-writing the two ‘Wicked’ movies is writing and producing, and that Bullock will also produce via her Fortis Films company.
What’s the story of the new Sandra Bullock/Dana Fox movie?

The new film is being kept very quiet for now –– Sony has yet to release any plot details on this one.
All we really know at this point beyond the star and writer is the fact that the package was attractive enough for Sony to stump up the money to buy it in a competitive situation.
Where else can we see Sandra Bullock?

Perhaps the most exciting Bullock movie on the horizon is ‘Practical Magic 2’ witch the witchcraft sequel reuniting her with Nicole Kidman. That one is headed for theaters on September 11.
Bullock also has an untitled romantic thriller in the works that sees her team back up with ‘Speed’ co-star Keanu Reeves.

A biopic about rock group Bon Jovi is in the works.
It’ll focus on their early days.
Universal is backing the project.
Music biopics continue to be a hot commodity in the movie world. With Michael Jackson film ‘Michael’ the next to hit screens, Deadline reports that Universal is in development on one about the early days of rock superstars Bon Jovi.
The new film development follows 2024 Hulu documentary series ‘Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story,’ and crucially includes the involvement of producer Gotham Chopra, who directed the doc and has access to the band members.

That’s likely going to be key to getting the band’s stories and their music rights, though it also tends to lead to accusations of leaving out any thorny issues.

Cody Brotter, who has worked on several scripts about real-life figures, will write the new biopic.
Expect the focus to be on the younger days of the band members, including front man Bon Jovi (real name: Jon Bongiovi), keyboardist David Bryan, drummer Tico Torres, bassist Alec John Such and lead guitarist/fellow songwriter Richie Sambora.
It’ll chronicle their struggles and triumphs as they look to make their mark on the music industry.
When will the Bon Jovi biopic be on screens?
There is no official information on a release date just yet –– but expect Universal to push to get this one made quickly.
With a writer aboard, the studio is halfway there – but is it living on a prayer?

‘Lanterns’ actor Aaron Pierre is headed to ‘Man of Tomorrow’.
He’ll cross over as his Green Lantern Corps character John Stewart.
James Gunn is writing and will direct the movie.
Looks like ‘Man of Tomorrow’ will truly live up to both connectivity between the big and small screen DC Studios universe and adding in more characters for the ‘Superman’ follow-up.
As first reported by Jeff Sneider and since confirmed by Deadline, Aaron Pierre, who plays Green-Lantern-in-training John Stewart in HBO series ‘Lanterns’ will bring the character to the big screen for the movie.

Filmmaker/DC Studios boss James Gunn is once again writing and directing the new movie, which is scheduled to start shooting next month.
“It’s a story about Lex Luthor and Superman having to work together to a certain degree against a much, much bigger threat. It’s more complicated than that but that’s a big part of it. It’s as much a Lex movie as it is a Superman movie. I loved working with Nicholas Hoult. I relate to the character of Lex, sadly. I really wanted to create something extraordinary with the two of them. I Just love the script so much.”
Jake Gyllenhaal will star in a new sports movie called ‘Play by Play’.
Chris McCoy wrote the script.
Amazon MGM Studios is backing the project.
It looks like Jake Gyllenhaal is becoming a company player for Amazon MGM Studios, as the company has bought yet another project for him to star in and produce via his Nine Stories production label.
Plot specifics about ‘Play by Play’ are largely under wraps (more on that below), but McCoy has a past in sports scripting and the potential movie will also be produced by a company called Religion of Sports’, co-owned by Tom Brady (yes, the one who has a little bit of sports experience himself) and Gotham Chopra.
Jake Gyllenhaal in ‘Presumed Innocent,’ premiering June 12, 2024 on Apple TV+.
As we mentioned, Deadline’s report on Gyllenhaal boarding the movie offers no details on the story, but a quick online check suggests it’ll feature the story of a popular pro sports newscaster gets involved in a seedy underworld on his road trips and becomes a marked man by a notorious gang. But we’ll have to wait and see if that is the actual plot.
This is just the latest Amazon MGM movie Gyllenhaal is involved in, following the ‘Road House’ remake and its upcoming sequel.
He’s also in business with the company on ‘Honeymoon with Harry’, a forthcoming dramedy where he’ll star opposite Kevin Costner, as well as ‘Code Black’, a political thriller based on a short story by Harrison Query that’s currently in development.

Arnold Schwarzenegger has announced Christopher McQuarrie for ‘King Conan’.
The ‘Mission Impossible’ writer/director is reportedly aboard the next stage of the character.
Schwarzenegger also hinted at a return to the ‘Predator’ universe.
When Arnold Schwarzenegger talks, people listen. And when he talks potential projects featuring iconic characters he’s played in the past, people listen even more intently.
While there was some skepticism given the long development and previously unsuccessful attempts at a Conan follow-up, The Hollywood Reporter brings word that McQuarrie is indeed on board.
What has Arnold Schwarzenegger said about ‘King Conan’?

Here’s Schwarzenegger’s latest statement on the project:
“They just hired a fantastic writer/director who did Tom Cruise’s last four movies. They just hired Christopher McQuarrie to write and direct ‘King Conan.’ Now, what they do is that they write the part. They don’t write them like I’m forty years old; you write it to be age-appropriate. I’ll still go in there and kick some ass, but it will be different…With ‘King Conan,’ it’s a great old story that Conan was forty years as King, and now he gets forced out of the kingdom, and there’s conflict, of course, but somehow he comes back, and there’s all kinds of madness, violence, magic, and creatures, and stuff like that. And now, of course, there’s all kinds of special effects.”
What else did Schwarzenegger hint at?
In good form, Schwarzenegger also let slip that he’s talked to ‘Predator: Badlands’ director Dan Trachtenberg about returning to one of his other big action franchises.
We’ll have to wait and see whether any of this comes to pass, but it’s certainly an exciting update!

1) Cillian Murphy Says The Film Needed To Justify Itself If They Were Going To Make It

Fans are thrilled to see Tommy Shelby return to the screen, but star Cillian Murphy says he was not going to come back unless the movie was justified.
Cillian Murphy: The luxury of having played him for so long is that all the research is kind of done. You’ve got 13 years of it there. You’ve lived alongside him and you’ve aged alongside him. I’ll never experience that again; it’s really unique. But like the lads were saying, we wanted to make something that would justify its existence. The TV show was so successful and became deeper as it went, so the film needed to justify itself. When we figured out the thematic drive was “family”—a father and son story introducing Duke—we knew we were on the right track.
2) Steven Knight Always Wanted ‘Peaky Blinders’ To End With A Movie
Steven Knight attends the World Premiere of ‘Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man’ at Centenary Square on March 02, 2026 in Birmingham, England. Photo by Tristan Fewings/Getty Images for Netflix.
‘Peaky Blinders’ writer and producer admits that his plan was always to end with a movie, during this time period, telling this story.
Steven Knight: I’ve discovered recently that I did an interview after the first series where I said confidently, “We’re going to end this in the Second World War and it’s going to be a movie.” And here we are. I mean, it was very arrogant of me to imagine that would happen, but it’s happened. I always wanted to end it this way—always wanted to end it in Birmingham as the bombs drop. And I think that what we have done is ended this part of the story in a quite magnificent way.
3) Barry Keoghan Has Wanted To Be A Part Of ‘Peaky Blinders’ For Years
Actor Barry Keoghan joins the cast of ‘Peaky Blinders’ in this film, but this is something he has wanted for years.
Barry Keoghan: Yeah, it was mad. I remember the screen test, seeing Cillian as Tommy Shelby. It was the first time I’d seen him in person as Tommy Shelby, just looking at me. I was like, “Look at me, I’m new to this!” It’s iconic. I’ve wanted to be part of the TV show or movie for years. I’ve had the “haircut” for about 10 years in my personal life, and I get mistaken that I’m in it already! It’s ironic, isn’t it? But it’s such an honor. It is nerve-wracking and exciting, and there is this anticipation… you just hope you do well.
4) Tim Roth Did Not Watch ‘Peaky Blinders’ Before Filming ‘Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man’
Tim Roth attends the World Premiere of ‘Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man’ at Centenary Square on March 02, 2026 in Birmingham, England. Photo by Tristan Fewings/Getty Images for Netflix.
Tim Roth also joins the cast in the new film, but he approached the role by purposefully not watching the series.
Tim Roth: When I was asked to do it, I hadn’t seen it, but I’d heard about it. I bumped into them when they were filming once and they looked like they were having a lot more fun than I was at the time! But I made the decision not to watch it before joining. I think I would have been more nervous if I’d seen it, to be honest. I came in completely fresh and you walk through this “family door.” More importantly to me, it felt like they were taking it seriously—what Tom and Steve were up to was making a real movie. Full on. The only green screen you saw was to keep the skyscrapers out of the background.
5) Rebecca Ferguson Was Drawn To This Film For Several Reasons
Rebecca Ferguson attends the World Premiere of ‘Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man’ at Centenary Square on March 02, 2026 in Birmingham, England. Photo by Kate Green/Getty Images for Netflix.
When asked what it was about ‘Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man’ that pulled Rebecca Ferguson in, she admits it was not just one thing, but many.
Rebecca Ferguson: It’s never one thing. It’s how they all tie together. Steven’s script was so dynamic and challenging. Anything disruptive is interesting in an established environment. My character comes from the outside; she sounds different, she acts differently, but there is a thematic connection. She’s another hurdle for them.
